Mike + The Mechanics – All I Need Is A Miracle
What’s on your mind tonite…?
Long Live Zed !
hiya CT, Petro
Aloha, Petro…! How’s the Great White North…!
Hiya PPDCUS !
CT, Spring never showed up, so we’re leaping into Summer … getting in the 80′s by Thursday/Friday.
Time to break out the BBQ !
Petro, So how did Harper pull it off again…? 8-(
More like Iggy scuttling the Great Liberal Party. There’s actually lots of good news about the Canadian Elections, though. For one thing, the NeoLibs have been hammered out of existence by the Voters. We have a true Left party as the opposition, and Layton will rip Harper every chance he gets. The Liberals will have to take a huge step Left, if they are to rebuild.
And the NeoCons have to also move Left, if they choose to hold onto power 4 years hence.
But yeah, this election was about Iggy being even worse than Dion, if that was possible.
Well! This was my favorite song then, even when I missed the whole decade of the 90s
Kelly? Rats, I wandered off, looks like he isn’t here.
Time for me to head off to bed. Fading.Fast.
G’nite Tej !
Aloha, CE…! How did ya just happen to miss a whole decade…? ;-)
hiya CE, tejana
Sweet dreams, tj…!
Да – here, sorry was downstairs for a bit. What up?
Two babies in three years.
Been there … folks are shocked that I never saw even one episode of Seinfeld.
’92 and ’94 here…! ;-)
Oh so funny! We only watched Seinfield after it ended.
’81 and ’83 my dear…
*heh* I did watch plenty of Barney…! ;-)
’82 was the eldest’s Bday…!
I loved LOVED my years at home with children. I will be 59 in a month. And I work so hard.
Court TV (cable-only) showed an episode of Seinfeld during its coverage of a sexual harassment case b/c it was an exhibit, the only episode I saw.
In my day, we only had three channels: CBS, NBC, and ABC. And if we wanted to switch channels, we had to get up, walk to the TV and turn a knob. And if the weather was bad, sometimes the picture would go all vertical or all horizonal and we’d have to hit the gaddamn thing to make it stop.
We didn’t have no remote controls or VCRs or HBOs.
Yeah, we had to watch the slop them 3 networks put out, but we did__And We Liked It!
Who Can It Be Now…
All I need Is a Miracle
Well, one of the most fun miracles I have ever seen is Lenny Bernstein, madly conducting this ending of Mahler 2 (It’s Mahler’s centennial of his passing this year, btw.)
What choice did ya have…? Aloha, robert…!
When we missbehaved, our fathers would beat us with a Sears catalog and makes us watch My Mother the Car or Andy Williams or Perry Como or PBS ballet. Sure it was torture, but we watched it__And We Liked It!
This was my fave one-hit wonder of the 80′s… Come on Eileen…!
See, that’s one more use for a Sears catalog…! ;-)
Aloha, trouper CT…!
We didn’t have no Internets, Facebooks or Twitters. There weren’t no FDL, Late Night FDL or Late Late Night FDL. We just had the Tonight Show, or Joey Bishop or Dick Cavett. But we watched them__And We Liked It!
Tut, what EVAH are we going to have to do to get you beyond Top 40 hits?
Besides, in ’82, Mesopotamia was also a hit!
*heh* I do like me some Rock Lobster…! ;-)
We didn’t have no Jane Hamshers, Suzannes or Tuttles. We only had Jane Fonda, Joan Baez and Jerry Rubins. But we dug them__And We Liked It!
SNL “Grumpy Old Man”
I think I get it.
*heh* Abbie Hoffman-Jerry Rubin…
That’s a bit more like it…
But ’80s punk is really a bit different. Staying “pop” how about White Punks On Dope
We did have dope back then__And We Liked It!
Kiss them for me…!
Ring Ring – Dana Carvey calling – wants his bit back.
There you go – have it cranked to 11!
Not-so Grumpy Old Man…! ;-)
Gee, I thought the bit was public domain by now. Tell Dana I’ll call him back….
Kate Bush – Running Up That Hill
I’m sure he’s waiting.
Friday Im In Love…
weird psynchros again, again, CTut!
I put on the 100 top songs of 1982 on random and went to go writing.
When I came back up to the front page here, y’all were listening to ‘mid-period’ pop.
I feel like somebody’s singing ‘One of US’ in the background, , over my shoulder or somethin’
good company I guess
Aloha, Ks…! That’s pretty kewl…! ;-)
This was filmed in ’82 too…! The Damned…!
I just received an e-mail from a group in North Carolina calling itself the New Progressive Alliance. Don’t know much about them, but from what I assume is their first editorial, they sound interesting, like a group that we could work with. Here’s their URL:
that’s some of the silliest camp I’ve ever seen. Especially right after Pac-Man Fever and Ebony & Ivory!
I wonder how long it took her to actually climb to the top of the bus hahaha
Wendy O was always over the top…! ;-) R.I.P…
there’s a post in MyFDL that credits Masoninblue!
I’m an old zappa nut so over the top can have lots of variation! hahahah
Aloha, bluewombat…! They penned a great diary… MyFDLers, Look What You Started!
Nine Inch Nails…
MOI…! Weasels ripped my flesh…!
I have an errand I should go and do, but
if you haven’t heard it,
Glenn Greenwald was on Neal Conan, Talk of the Nation, NPR today
there’s a podcast and transcript here
I like Neal Conan generally but he didn’t seem to like Glenn disagreeing with him by insisting on his point. Worth hearing as it does clarify, the hit job/assassination precedence being ordered by a Democrat
Have you seen this Johnny Cash and Nine Inch together?
yeah, I love that band ;)
Frank’s such a funny guy.
be well CTuttle and thanx for staying up with us,,,
That was a great job…!
My pleasure…! Pleasant dreams, Ks…!
Trent Reznor and Maybelle Carter in the same output.
Well, I shall bid ya’ll another fond adieu…! Mahalo for spending some time here tonite…! Aloha Oe…! *g*
