About Firedoglake
Bring the troops home now. Morning, BT.
Thanks, BT; those just look like yachts, they’re really working fish boats
I guess it doesn’t matter that bin Laden is dead. We’re in a situation where, no matter the facts, the answer is always continued war.
David Remnick putting Jagoff Joe in his place.
Good Morning, All
Tempers were sure a flamin’ here yesterday. I hope today is easier for some. I’m glad I get to go to my volunteer gig today. There’s no water cooler stuff there. We just worry about how to feed people.
Glad I missed that.
And, also…that story about the yachts is moving me to share this story. In a time of economic stress, the church that I have attended my whole life has decided they need a $150,000 digital organ. I’ve decided not to attend anymore. :(
I didn’t see all of it. Late Nite had some doozies.
Condi Rice declaring vindication for Bush/Cheney.
Mornin’, BT, pups
demi, instead of bailing stick around and be a loud voice of dissent. Start an anti-digital organ movement within the congregation.
I think everyone grieves differently.
I saw grief on those threads, and thus think yesterday was a day where emotions were raw and angry over the wasted decade spent hunting for bin Laden.
I apologize if I offended anyone myself.
I’m not surprised. I’d ask for a link, but I guess I don’t really care what she has to say. Oh, brother. We’ll be hearing everyone’s opinions on this for a while.
But, the most important point was made by you @#1.
Who could have anticipated? She needs to read Marcy’s timelines and get her shit together.
Yes, show them that a used Bose wave radio will lift the congregation’s spirits for about $149,700 less.
Makes me want to puke, hearing “Mushroom Cloud” and “No One Could Have Foreseen” Condi called Dr. Rice and Madame Secretary.
Well, Dragon, if that was the only issue, I’d say that’s a good idea. You know that me and the mister have been leading an old testament study, dvd from the great courses. It was 24 sessions and was really good. Lots of cross cultural stuff and etymology and history. Only 3 people attended regularly. There’s other stuff too. Most of the people I have loved there have already died. As the man said, time to kick the dust off my sandals.
A lady always knows when to make an exit. :)
Ha. Chris once brought his synthesizer in and added a drum track to do a contemporary song. When it kicked in, the entire choir nearly hit their heads on the ceiling. And, it’s a high ceiling, too.
When it’s time, it’s time. We recently attended All Saints Episcopal in Pasadena. Their theology and commitment to peace and justice is more along our lines of thinking.
How about a digital organ conspiracy theory? It’s really a remote HAARP controller.
Believe.
Can you counter-propose, say, food pantry donations?
That’s too bad.
A few years ago St Pete for Peace held a protest outside Mayor Baker’s church one Sunday morning. He was a staunch anti-homeless pol. I noticed that about 95% of the congregation was 65+.
They already do weekly collections for the Interfaith Food Pantry and do a once a month dinner at the Rescue Mission.
At work, we are gearing up for our largest collection day of the year on May 17. Stamp Out Hunger, through the post office. We’ll be at 7 offices in the valley and guess who is going to be supervising volunteers at our warehouse? I’ll prolly be writing a diary about it.
Are you that close to Pasadena? Wow. Saw my only Super Bowl at the Rose Bowl. Ancient history.
Harper won a conservative majority?
Going to need to talk myself down from the ledge.
Crap if I can’t escape to canada where the hell can I go -_-
You’re cracking me up, dude. Thanks for the smile.
Good morning all.
Which would, truly, make the more joyful noise unto the heavens?
(Your suggestion Ruth, reflects perfect pitch and an excellent sense of time …)
And demi, as you obviously and clearly know, ’tis not about “leaving” or “going”, but rather, about “becoming” …
Good morning, all.
DW
The south of France is nice this time of year. All year, actually.
Morning BT & Firepups:
Uh-oh. The Earthers are comin’…
And Rude weighs in on OBL..
Good morning pups and thanks for the post, BT.
I was thankfully far too busy at work yesterday to keep up at FDL. Kinda glad I missed it.
demi,
Sorry to hear about you and your church. Although, a change like that can be good for the soul.
Fuck Condi Rice, Dick Cheney and that other stooge too.
I’m sure this will another teachable moment lost.
Demi, Are you sure that’s the way you want to go? Sounds like a big change and big loss…just a thought. Good Morning…yep, yesterday was too much.
Ain’t it always…
Even more important now that we stay the course in Afghanistan. /s
I am so glad I stayed out of that.
Oh, yeah. About 20 minutes on the 210. That’s where we saw James Carrol speak. Very cool.
Look forward to the diary. (did you ever tell the kids with the complaint about stacking bread that you could let them stack cake?)
I think you should point out how egregious this request is, how contemptuous you are of it, and then articulate the reasons why, preferably in a public way. But then, that’s just me…
“As Food Stamp Recipients Hit New Record, 400 Americans Account For 10% Of Capital Gains” (May 3, 2011)
So I’m discerning that people got a bit lathered up around here yesterday, huh?
Yikes…would anyone care?
Let ‘em eat yachts.
Hey, you! Yup, yup and yee-up.
That’s about 14% of the US population. Fucking disgrace.
Oh, my dear. Your comment is one of my all time faves. No, the girls in question didn’t return. But, they caused a big stink up stairs and only recently has it been decided to back our claims and not theirs. Whew, that was a bother I didn’t need. :)
But they create the jobs! except for the homeless that are setting up their own businesses – as Bloomberg insisted would be the saving of the economy, on MTP.
Might I make a Modest Proposal? How about we turn Seal Team 6 loose on the heads of the ten largest mega-zombie banks? Just sayin’…
Speaking of yachts.
Glad you got the upside, anyway. Still sad about kids who think it’s a hardship they didn’t anticipate in volunteer service experience for credit, that they’d be doing anything.
Precisely.
I’m not Jesus. I once wrote a song entitled that.
“I can’t love enough to climb upon that cross.”
Good idea….Night before last, Angela had another “attack”, much briefer. We got to the vet who says she doesn’t find anything….just keep a watch…So odd. Nothing major that she can see.
O dear. So it lasted a while…so sorry. What did upstairs do? Last you said you were going to meet. Did they also talk to other people? Things like that are not fun.
I thought that was who ran ST6.
Point taken. Maybe you just do a bit of simple arithmetic that explains just exactly how many meals could be prepared for $150 G’s. That might get someone’s attention…
You make a valid point. Perhaps we can appeal to the better angels of their nature.
They never did call me upstairs. I just got to worry about it for 3 weeks. I’m not as thick skinned as I wish.
All 400 of them don’t appear to have any from what I can tell or we would not be in this position.
…As we ponder our dead, all our dead, as we remember and make silly statements about “closure,” let us wonder what might have been for the United States had that been our approach all along.”
Rude Pundit is right. 9/11 was a criminal act conducted by individuals- not a world war.
Thanks for the support and the suggestions. Time to get ready to save the world, one loaf of bread at a time. Hugs.
I think I know what you mean..;) Sounds like the kids likely did not tell the truth and also like upstairs maybe didn’t handle it very well. As in you were “owed” more information, don’tcha think? Glad it’s over.
I’m hoping we can have at least one not ObL thread today. I missed those flaring tempers too, largely because I’m finished discussing that particular subject.
Good morning
But we had Bully Bush itching to go to war on behalf of his Dad….Elections have consequences…..;)
Off to swim in the great capitalist cesspool.
Tomorrow is the 50th anniversary of the start of the first Freedom Ride.

Never. Give. Up.
Tempted to do a post on mem’ries of Vietnam, when that government didn’t do like we wanted. May decide it requires too much effort for todays’ readers, which has been my experience getting into histories that are uncomfortable.
I would find it a refreshing change. If I can stay awake. I was up way late again with a bad tooth.
Sounds like a good reminder….
Launch put off again…..maybe til next Tuesday.
Ugh, sounds like a bad time. You’re reminding me that gritting my teeth is something I really should get over.
I might. But admit that doing a post that is apparently epochal and seeing it just go sliding down the drain – again – makes me less inclined to keep it up.
Your moral compass is impeccably well-calibrated, demi, so you’ve never anything, really, to worry about; that you always concern yourself with the propriety of your own actions, as you assuredly do, is ample proof to everyone else.
Go forth … and give ‘em heaven … (which you consistently do, and, not to cross you, but your love rolls before you like a huge wave of compassion, engulfing all …)
DW
I’ve gotta do some stuff now, thanks for good tho’ts.
Makes sense….I saw SD’s note about the Freedom Rides. I do not know if we have any of those participants here, but that diary would be very interesting also. Yesterday NPR did a very good piece on that period.
Absolutely.
RE: Yacht tax relief
I wonder if they are expecting yachts will be needed for a “Mario Boatlift” for refugee rich Americans sometime in the future?
She is completely right
Why did you post that a full hour after the last comment? Did you know you’d never have gotten away with it otherwise? I’ve got bad news for you: Neither Bush nor Cheney had anything to do with this. If this is Obama’s economy, then ObL is Obama’s “victory”. You can’t have it both ways, blaming Obama for the bad while crediting somebody who hasn’t been office for over two years when something that you consider good is accomplished. Maybe at Town Hall but not here in Realityland.
I wish they would boatlift themselves all the way to Somalia, rather than turning this country into another one.
I heard one analysis say the liberals were hurt because the 3 left-leaning parties split the vote.
Chalk up one for the divide and conquer strategy.
