According to Primetime Propaganda, a new book by conservative author Ben Shapiro, there is a huge underground river of liberal propaganda that subtly (and not so subtly) flows into American television. Conservatives lost the TV war, he weeps, rending his cable guide.
Selective Law & Order |

Looks like we can add “participating in a flash mob at a public monument” to the list of things that are more illegal than torture, assassination, starting a war under false pretenses, foreclosure fraud, securities fraud, warrantless wiretapping, and buying public officials.
Housing Prices at Record Low Since Bubble Popped |
| By: David Dayen Tuesday May 31, 2011 5:15 pm |
The Case-Shiller home price index sits at its lowest level since the housing bubble popped in 2006. Prices continue to spiral downward and there’s not much hope that they will stabilize anytime soon.
NBC’s Clueless Chuck Todd et al: GOP Prez Candidates More Important Than Anything |
| By: Scarecrow Tuesday May 31, 2011 4:30 pm |
Not a single important problem that really matters to most Americans is being addressed, let alone responsibly, in Congress or those Biden meetings. All of the sound and fury in the nation’s capital that Chuck Todd and friends think are “news” is just posturing over things that are not, and never have been, actual problems, let alone crises. And even for those contrived issues, the “solutions” being considered are completely at odds with the wishes of the American people — which is why the discussions are happening behind closed doors.

| By: David Dayen Tuesday May 31, 2011 3:00 pm |
I appreciate the “a strange game, the only winning move is not to play” technique here, but in the final analysis, you have nobody in the House and Senate willing to say that the debt limit just ought to be increased and the budget ought to be proper for the current times, when there are millions of people out of work, rather than drastically austere. And this hysterical deficit debate is playing out while other countries just pass us by.

| By: emptywheel Tuesday May 31, 2011 2:15 pm |
How many times have we faced this stage already? How many times over could we have prosecuted KSM already if we had just used existing, rather than Kangaroo, courts? How many more years will it take to determine whether KSM can plead guilty so as to martyr himself?
