FDL Book Salon Welcomes Stephen Kohn, The Whistleblower’s Handbook: A Step-by-Step Guide to Doing What’s Right and Protecting Yourself

By: Wendell Potter Sunday April 10, 2011 1:59 pm

The only problem I have with Stephen Martin Kohn’s new book, The Whistleblower’s Handbook, is that it hadn’t been published when I was trying to decide two years ago whether or not to take the risk of speaking out against the health insurance industry.

“How Many of Us Should Die for the World to Pay Attention of Us?”

By: Siun Sunday April 10, 2011 1:00 pm

Protests continue in Yemen as earlier hopes of Saleh’s departure have so far come to nothing. Today the Gulf States met and announced their support for replacing Saleh with a transitional government led by his Vice President with opposition involvement but one has to ask if this plan is really representative of opposition demands. Listen carefully to the young woman speaking yesterday in Sanaa at the Silent March to remember those killed by Saleh (sin the video, she addresses us in America directly.)

Was the Budget Calamity Liberals’ Fault?

By: Blue Texan Sunday April 10, 2011 11:50 am

The notion that Democrats lost the 2010 midterms because liberals weren’t clapping loudly enough isn’t supported by the evidence. Democrats lost because they lost independents by 15 points, and independents don’t care what liberals think.

The Big Lacuna

By: Glenn W. Smith Sunday April 10, 2011 9:30 am

By: Teddy Partridge Sunday April 10, 2011 8:02 am

Count among those disappointed in the budget deal that was forged oh-so-dramatically at the very last hour before government shutdown Michele Bachmann, chair of the House teabaggers.

Obama’s Big Lie Meets Iraqi Resistance

By: Siun Sunday April 10, 2011 6:45 am

Obama promised that US troops would be out of Iraq by the end of 2009 – well actually he played semantics and said “combat troops” but American voters believed that his election signaled the end of our occupation of Iraq.

Now we’re in 2011 and not only have we not left but Obama is angling to keep US forces in Iraq past the December 2011 deadline for the removal of all US forces.

By: Thers Saturday April 9, 2011 8:00 pm
