Zucchero featuring Solomon Burke — Diavolo In Me.
What’s on your mind?
hey kris — how’s the east bay tonight?
hey nahant — how’s deadwood city tonight?
Dunno. Haven’t been outside since 3pm. I assume it’s still there, though.
i know that feeling. altho, i must admit, sometimes its several days that go past before i go outside…
Great vid Suz.
If I didn’t have a job I’d do the same thing :)
thanks kris — tis a fav of mine :)
tis on the plus side of being retired for sure — right up there with no alarm clocks. i only go out if i want to or need to make a grocery run. my natural instinct is to be a hermit and only surface when i have to.
how goes preparation for the move?
Mild … still above 60… about time need to get the tomatoes purchased and planted..
I’m a homebody like that too, esp. if the weather’s ugly. Hi Suz and all!
I’m going strictly modern tonight.
Bleed It Out.
Hi all. RC’s house arrest continues, as does his irritation at being on house arrest.
still too wet to plant — and our safe to plant by date isn’t until mother’s day.
Hey LL and nahant!
hey ll — winters on the oregon coast do encourage me to be a recluse:)
how’s noVA tonight?
hey wmd — how’s his wound?
It’s going okay. Wrote my last rent check to the landlord today (I live a couple months ahead now, a leftover lesson learned from when we lived a couple months behind).
Looking at a couple houses. I think I’m going to send oldnslow and cbl to tour a few places for me this weekend.
Aloha, Suz and LLN pups…! ;-)
the little things give you away.
on edit – this was written for the people of New Orleans. Great song. And a middle finger to the people that failed the populous of one of our great cities.
Suz, not too bad; it was hot today but I HAD to run an errand (needed smokes, lol) but ran right back home and hid out in the AC. Tomorrow is supposed to be nicer, and I’ll be going around with more retirement paperwork to get that all squared away.
sweet and woohoo!
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight?
Aloha CT, hi nahant and wmd too, sorry I missed greeting youse guys
how many days left ll?
Never titled as far as I know.
Hey Kris… the Bay Area will miss ya…
Beautiful day today, the momma-to-be graced us with her prescence…! ;-)
I hope so. I’m sure the police in the city of Newark will be glad to be rid of me, though.
Aloha, LL…! I just got here too…! ;-)
16 calendar days :-) I’m burning up some leave between now and May 6th though. Won’t be physically working, just on the books.
Hey Grandpa to be!! How goes it?
yay! i get to see both my girls and jujube this weekend
This is in no way an endorsement of Heineken.
*heh* A Three-fer…! ;-)
sweet — is it safe to have the ceremonial tossing out of the alarm clocks?
Celebrating 4/20 most appropriately…! ;-)
Somehow I can’t seem to get rid of them yet – lately there have been reasons to use them – but soon!
3 little birds
Lay me down.
Guy on lead vocals is my buddy’s son. Now the lead for Sublime.
Suz I bet you can’t wait to get back over to Jen’s; will be looking forward to pics of Stephanie’s first visit with her niece :-)
almost went with sublime tonight…
one of their more interesting albums, this song always messed with me. I happened to be going through a led zep phase just as katrina hit, having “when the levee breaks” in your playlist as you see that on tv was kinda jarring.
Oh, you dfh! *g*
between steph and i, i figure the only time jen will get with julianna is feeding time
That song chokes me up every time. And i heard when the levee breaks during the immediate aftermath of katrina. Gave me chills.
i went with carolyn wonderland over at my place
hey chaeronea — how ya doing tonight?
(It’s not just the theme song from V!)
His wound is about the size of a dime again. He’s healing.
good news! when does rc get released from house arrest?
Cool! He even sounds a bit like Brad Nowell. Better voice, I think.
I’m not knowledgeable enough about the roots of when the levee breaks, but the lyrics seem to be fitting to me as well. And yeah, I’ve been a LP fan since the beginning, they can be different, and sometimes a bit too mainstream, but they are definitely real musicians.
Good here, how are you doing Suzanne?
I’ll always associate that song with my mom’s funeral. Reverend Bill Breeden (guy who held John Poindexter sign for ransom during Iran Contra) was playing it on his guitar, and on the final chord the IU football team scored and a cannon was fired simultaneously.
Great tune. I tried to leave a comment but your site wants me to log in to my google account. I can’t be assed right now *g*
Being legal is a pain in the ass.
They’re one of the few real bands of my generation. That’s for damn sure.
i’m doing well thanks. sunshine again today but high clouds so it wasn’t as pretty as yesterday was. supposed to rain a bit tonight
Probably Saturday. I’ll keep him hungry Friday night… I’ll be around to let him back in when he comes home to have a snack and keep him in after.
Oy, I’m sleepy and can’t keep up here; just as well, gotta hit the ground running early tomorrow. I’ll come back sometime when I can stay longer…thanks Suz and g’night all!
blogspot is owned by google *sigh* they own utube now too and google automatically signs me into utube :(
Agreed, I usually buy their albums, and that’s saying something >_>
Aah, possibly some killer nap time for Jen if she does take advantage of the opportunity…! ;-)
she did sun when i was there. she and the baby were sleeping soundly as i tiptoed out to head home.
Yeah, its a bit wet here too. Today was quite nice after we got pounded with rain and several hours of very loud thunder and lightning, it was a fun night to stay up and watch. That’s good to hear though.
I make a point of buying physical albums for artists that I really like. More money for them and a real physical investment for me.
The man is a lyrical genius.
hi Suz, pups, how’s everyone?
chance of forking snow on the hills tomorrow morning
(a bit different than Eminem and Linkin Park :))
hey margot — how’s ohio tonight?
Yeah, I agree, I don’t mind it at all, but I’m very picky about that sort of thing.
my girls were so pissed off that i liked him
LOL. Why? He’s an incredibly talented song-writer. A great showman, too.
He’s an amazing performer, I like his faster stuff though. I’ve seen him bash his head on a piano live by accident, everyone went “oh no!” and he immediately started playing while laughing.
i guess its no fun having a song that ya think will piss off mom and having mom actually *like* it.
haha, oh dear! Maybe we’ll get some more of that our way, I haven’t looked.
Another great band of my time.
and if that isn’t fast enough for you…
Punk Rock Princess.
Straw dog is my favorite song of theirs, maybe followed by I woke up in a car.
wind, rain, etc.
That would be great if I’d planted something, but I didn’t. But it’s still good; better than Texas with its grass fires.
Hey all. Dadgummit (more here).
Mine will forever and always be Konstantine.
I shared this song and a lot of memories with a girl before my wife. One of those songs that breaks my heart. Every time I hear it.
hey mzchief — recommended! how was your day?
Productive despite the now-so-welcome late evening news. And yours?
Oh no you didn’t!
2pac is a GAWD in this house. An amazing poet, lyricist, and artist who died long before his time.
Heard him play that live solo, ughhhh what a good song. I believe it has that effect for sure.
OK Passes Bill Providing for Life Sentence for Converting Pot to Hashish
happy lucky 100 kris!!!
Hail Mary – NSFoldfolks. ;)
Also too, Thugz Mansion. Acoustic, even.
I’m ready to sleep. Good night all.
Awww thanks! It didn’t have a song though. :( Kris fail.
Well, for the 100.
i love that song
He has a poetry book that was published after his death. I believe it’s called The Rose That Grew From Concrete, or something along those lines. It’s wonderful.
my liking current music had its plus side when the girls were young. i drove over to jen’s dad’s to pick her up after her weekend and i had this blaring on the radio… she came running out thinking it was one of her friends and it was little ole me :) she never forgave me for it
This is wrong. So wrong. Pharmaceutical marijuana derivatives will only lead to further persecution of pot users and growers in an attempt to protect the profits of the drug companies.
If they turn pot into a pharmaceutical lab product they’ve officially subverted the dirty fucking hippies.
Oh. My. Gawd. Becky.
drug company profits must be protected at all costs… (/s)
Hahaha. At least it wasn’t Vanilla Ice.
Another one of the better lyricists of the day. Ludacris.
Word of Mouf.
On edit – yes, this is freestyle. Off the top of the head.
Really. I think that’s the inevitable progression of events. The drug companies will want to eliminate competition. Penalties and enforcement of existing laws will get harsher.
FML. God Bless our Corporate States of America.
i don’t think you were at fdl back when i featured this one up top
That is made of awesome and win. Kid can play.
I am ready to terminate all corporations– especially those transnational ones– as they are simply proxies for the 1%ers. As I’ve written previously, the “solutions” the corporations often provide aren’t even what folks really need. Instead they are just putting up massive barriers to the real deal and at a premium ka-ching. “End Corporate Rule. Legalize Democracy. Move To Amend” (petition here)
his cover of crazy by gnarls is gnarly (starts at 4:20)
Alright folks, I’m out. Wifey’s sick, little one’s sick. I’ve got a feeling tomorrow will be another long day of playing nursemaid.
I’ll leave this behind.
East 1999. One of the best rap songs of all time. Perfect beat, perfect lyrics, perfect theme.
And this. A prayer from DMX.
g’nite kris — hope they have a speedy recovery
Have a goodnight sir!
He’s good. Hot licks on the violin!
A fav performer of mine and original member of the Mahavishnu Orchestra: “Perputuum Mobile” by Jerry Goodman
that’s sweet mzchief :)
It’s 4/20 and you didn’t play “let’s go get stoned”
You slippin’, girl.
i went with something more subtle — i have the devil(weed) in me :)
i put up carolyn doing that cover at my place — your link is no good :(
how ya doing tonight thatguy?
Classic jazz fusion from Like Children (1974): “Country And Eastern Music” by Jerry Goodman & Jan Hammer
i like — i’ll have to surf out their utubes…. thanks mzchief — i hadn’t heard of him until tonight
Link is fixed, I’m ok, eye is all better, lungs are mostly better. I woke up and the first thing I played was “Let’s Go Get Stoned.”
It’s a tradition :-D.
yay yay and yay — i toyed with this one for tonight but the quality sucks — there’s a chipping or static-y noise
You are welcome. Check out super hot violin master Luc Ponty as well: “Rite Of Strings” – from Renaissance (live, 1994)
ear and eye candy :) thanks
!De Nada! Back to the classics with the alto of the string family and a nice arrangement played by Olga Goija: Bach’s G-minor Sonata (Grave)
Hot double stops! With that, I think I’ll turn in. Thank you, Suz, and sleep well everyone!
’bout time for me to turn back into a pumpkin folks. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight
g’nite all — dayam, i’ve got the munchies…
Unelss he’s got something really unsavory in his background, or gets a serious attack of the modesties (VERY unlikely) David Petraeus is going to be the Republican nominee. As an ambitious, clever, military man he’s navigated the Pentagon/Beltway waters very adroitly. With the collection of bible zombies and losers that the repubs are currently stuck with, Petraeus is golden. He’ll have a lot of help if he runs.
Which is why Obama was floating that trial balloon about him taking over at the CIA. (Panetta knows a sinking ship when he sees one, and he can bail and go back to California and test the water for going after a Senate seat.)
I think Petraeus is too smart to take up Obama’s offer to bury himself at Langley.
