Stalemate: No ground troops, the war goes on forever. Send in ground troops, the war goes on forever, just like Iraq. What did Obama expect to accomplish or was he just paying back the French and British for all the times they’ve joined one of our silly little oil based adventures?

Banksters: We’re going to have to depend on the civil courts for justice. We might get it, as the banksters hurt other big money players.

Krugman: Rand Paul is the political equivalent of a troll. Stop feeding him.

Idiots: No, they think WE’RE idiots.

Explains: Obama better like Rahm, look at all the “blame” he took with him when he left. Unnamed former senior administration offical commenting not for the record….

Boxturtle (Good Morning, All!)

I liked your link. I like how “F” is capitalized. Santorum is Former Senator. Pawlenty, Palin, Romney, et al., are Former Governors. Huntsman is Former Ambassador.

And the hissy fit — I mean, criticism — the Obama plan provoked from Mr. Ryan was deeply revealing, as the man who proposes using budget deficits as an excuse to cut taxes on the rich accused the president of being “partisan.” Mr. Ryan also accused the president of being “dramatically inaccurate” — this from someone whose plan included a $200 billion error in its calculation of interest costs and appears to have made an even bigger error on Medicaid costs. He didn’t say what the inaccuracies were.

I really like Krugman. If Oilbama had been an actual Progressive, he’d have this man on his financial team.

Good morning.

Somebody once commented to me about how former Chilean President Salvador Allende was always referred to in the US media as “Marxist President Salvador Allende,” as if “Marxist President” were the office to which he was elected.

Perhaps, for example, Alaskans might have been smarter directly to elect Sarah Palin Former Governor, and avoid all of the nonsense associated with her ever being Governor.

The people with the power to do something (e.g. banksters) will always look to do something that may or may not be legal, but force the legal structure to spend time and energy stopping the move. Meanwhile the powerful have moved on to another ploy so the legal structure is always playing catch up, if it is trying at all.

Did anyone think that the gooper budget would be anything more than a fig leaf cover to destroy social safety nets and give more money to the rich? Now obama is in campaign mode, so he can attack ryan’s proffered budget and sound as if he means it. Down the road we will see that these are the beginning offers in negotiation before obama gives them more than they ask for and says that he had no choice. obama has a real record now going back to the Senate.

Stuck in the car yesterday, I had an “opportunity” to hear Paul Ryan waste airtime spouting nonsense about how his budget plan will do wonders — on NPR, of course, with only Nice Polite questions that did not challenge at all. Very discouraging.

Good morning, everyone. At least I can spend most of the day being Grandma at my granddaughters’ elementary school.

I get a kick out of all the bleating and pearl clutching by right wing politicians and pundits over Obama being “partisan”, (mean to Paul Ryan). I mean seriously, how the fuck did they expect any half rational person to greet a scheme that cuts 2.9 trillion dollars solely for rich people and corporations on the backs of people who can least afford it? It’s like the nursery school bully who demands all the toys and then throws a fit when s/he doesn’t get them. If it wasn’t all theater, I’d be greatly amused.

Agreed. I don’t throw something away because it’s broken. Bush ruined NPR and PBS by putting Tomlinson in charge and he started taking so much money with strings attached from the Koch’s. They need to be fixed, not jettisoned. If public funding stopped, neither would go away, just more beholden to the corporations. They were ruined by policy, they can be fixed the same way. IF we had a president that cared.

NPR was neutered by the Republicans for purely ideological reasons. NPR and PBS have become instruments for insuring the status quo and the plutocracy. There is “non-political” programing that is worthwhile but the harm NPR and PBS does outweighs any good.

On Morning Joe, I heard a bit of Congresscritter Jeb Hensarling talking about the budget. What a dick. Debt crisis. Debt crisis. Debt crisis. Cut and privatize. Cut and privatize. Cut and privatize. Do these assholes have anything else to say? He could say that the Bush tax cuts were the most irresponsible tax cuts in all of human history, especially since we were dealing with a war of choice then and are still dealing with it now that Obama has helped extend those irresponsible tax cuts.

Where are the real leaders? Jeb Hensarling has become a media darling for his stupid comment about tarring and feathering. WTF? If anyone in Congress should be tarred and feathered, it would be all those who played a part in passing the Bush tax cuts and all those who played a part in extending them.

[Note to mod: I put in the link of Hensarling talking about people being tarred and feathered so that it would be clear that I am not advocating tarring and feathering. It was a comment of a member of Congress that received attention at several sites.]

Hensarling:

“At some point, you just got to quit spending money you don’t have,” explained Hensarling on Sunday. “I do not want America to default on its debt. But the president is going to have to start the process of cutting up the credit cards, pure and simple.”

Hey, asshole, the Bush tax cuts were the most irresponsible tax cuts in all of human history. TARP was the result of abuse and led to even more abuse. And your best idea is cut spending on important and effective government programs and privatize them?

US citizens’ attention span re terrorists under the bed is gone, so Debt Crisis has been manufactured to scare ‘em stupid(er) and force the serf’s to give up even more money to the Robber Barons at the top of the pyramid.

It’s always booga booga scary scary fear fear… works like a charm for a large swathe of the population. FEAR the Debt CRISIS!!!!! Stick ‘em up and give us ALL of yer monies…. and so on…
