What? No grandbaby, yet?
Jujube baby!
One blessed event, coming up soon.
Welcome you guys!
/~~~
Hey Robert, you too, BG!
I think she’s headed to the hospital right now…! ;-)
Lurk! Pups! Can’t wait to hear when the blessed event arrives :-)
Hey, Lurking….
That’s not lurking…
Evening TLM! And other LLN pups!
Congrats to Suz and fam! I hope all is still going well.
Aloha, Lurk and LLN pups…! 8-)
Thanks, Lurk! It is an exciting night, one we have all been anticipating but none so much as Jen and Suz!
Evening, CTut
Suzanne predicts a few more hours until we know…
Hey LL, I will keep you guys filled in as Suzanne calls with updates.
Good evening, Kris.
On nights like this, Lurking is optional.
Excellent!
I feel like we’re all a bunch of aunts and uncles here, lol
Well, we pretty much know everything but the time and weight, and all of us are hoping for fast and easy. . .When my sister was in labor, I threw up and had to lay down on the floor. So I was not much use.
Cool Lurk…! Mahalo…! ;-)
I’m declaring it whimsical night, in honor of the approaching birth!
First whimsical song :)
It IS majorly cool.
She is? I thought this was a scheduled trip over the mountain.
It’s THE trip?
Good evening to you, too! And thanks for hosting in Suz’s absence.
Lurk! Pups!
joining the anxious crowd of online family waiting to hear about little jujube’s arrival.
A song for wee Julianna Renee, whenever she makes her appearance:
Birthday!
Oh YEAH,…doing Mothers’ Earth Circle dance. Awesome.
NewDeal!
Pins & Needles back here.
Sweet, love this one :-)
You are most welcome. I mean, where the Hell else would I be?
I love that version! Good choice.
What popped up when I went there: Born this Way, Lady GaGa. Coinkydink.
*heh* That reminds me of when my wife had my middle’un… Amidst one of her labor spasms she’d grabbed my arm and laid me out flat on the floor…! Dayam, they’re capable of extraordinary displays of strength…!
I once saw Rudy Guiliani conduct NYPops performing Anvil Chorus. One of the funniest. It was just before 9/11 at the Staten Island Yankees stadium. He was frozen with stage fright. Hysterical.
Lurk-pups. Pace reload pace reload repeat
It’s the sponsored video on every page I’m looking at over at the youtube. Bleh.
Hey Hope!
Don’t ask me why I put that in blockquotes. I have no idea. 8P
Hi Patrick! Now I am laughing!
Happy Birthday, Mr. President?
Sunshine. . .
Born To Be Wild
My wish for this new girl child. Peace of heart, laughter, and strength of spirit.
:]
Joel Grey is Jennifer Grey’s (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off…DWTS) father.
Very talented family.
Hey, Lurk. Thank you for being the host in these exciting times.
*passes a stash of assorted organic chocolates from the co-op to help with the pins & needles backstage*
It’s Your Birthday!
Howdy homeroid. Baby Party Night!
Aloha, Ardiva…! ;-)
Valium would be tremendous!Thank you kindly…
My Wish (For You)
Hey eCahn, what I wouldn’t give to see Rudy’s flop-sweat!
On edit: perhaps I spoke too soon.
Ardiva, excellent trivia.
Aloha, ndfg…! Hopefully, I’ll be busy on our Bday too…! ;-)
Why can’t our president be more like this?
Josiah Bartlet is a very high standard, ThatGuy. Welcome.
It’s so hard. . .
always good to see the Lurking Mod out and about on a Friday evening…instead of moderating from behind the scenes.
cheers guys – it’s Friday!
Yeah but he had a big, swinging set of brass ones. Obama is a jellyfish. Incredibly disappointing.
You woulda loved it. Only time I ever saw him nonplussed.
Performance ended with the first performance of Handel’s Fireworks with live fireworks since its original in 1749. A fabulous evening. And maybe the last time I had a spectacular view of the WTC.
SirLurksAlot! It is very nice to be out here, thank you.
It’s Your Birthday, need a Vitamin Water™?
Best prez in recent times. No kidding.
Did Mr. noun&verb&9-11 dress up in drag for the performance?
I am an admirer of Aaron Sorkin’s work. Bartlet was right in my strike zone.
It is to laugh
I’ve been volunteering at a local homeless shelter the last 6 weeks one day a week its only 1 day a week near my place they move it. Anyway I went out for a smoke normally I stay after moving the tables and mats they sleep on a 15? year old girl was their in the lot I finished the smoke thought for sure she would get in but she did not make the cut we were short of beds but several younger males (20s )white, black etc got in.
I think I need to start having more smokes and finding out WTF is going on. Any ideas why she was rejected? She did not seem high but granted I never got more than 30 ft next to her and my Highdar wasn’t picking up shit.
Thinking of the two births i was a part of and the names i was called… Lurk i don’t know if you would even let them fly. I do remember conniving in there somewhere.
Lurk!
What’s the Grandma news you guys?
I’m thinking dark chocolate lightly laced brownies with a killer pecan topping.
But, I’m daydreaming. Also.
Happy Birthday from The Chipmunks!
I’m excited for Suz! Grandmommying is fun. Though I’m just getting over a 2-week cold that was a gift from Marco-the-Magnificent. Last year I did a three-weeker that was a gift from his twin brother Leo-licious. Grandbabies are fabulous. So happy for Suzanne on this amazing night for her.
Click on the link. Strictly pops concert dress, i.e., white tux.
We’re all gonna be Grandpups!
Welcome, Dearie!
I am personally looking forward to another niece!
i’ll be keeping my fingers crossed … it would be an awesome birthday present for ya!
Hola, Aitch. It is going to be some family.
*heh* I also vividly recall a ‘This is all your fault…’ being hollered…! ;-)
Party foul – How can I eat that while on duty?
ooo, that sounds awesome! but the stash of chocolate was right on the shelf and faster *g*
One of my favorite things is to check out the outfits that baby girls put together these days. Exquisite creativity. The wackier, the more colors and patterns, the better. It would be so much fun to be a little girl now. At least that’s what I think.
Hola, Lurk. Many thanks for live blogging the blessed eVent!
Not sure I caught all the links so this could be repetitive.
Elvis has lots of HB on youtube, but not the one I was looking for.
This is so fucked up on so many levels.
Our local food bank throws so much good food into the dumpster every food bank day, Mon,Wed.,Fri.,… that we Socialists added Community Dinners one Thursday a month for our council meeting. Come eat, stay for the horrid fucking meeting or bail-out early, we don’t give a shit. Just come and eat without cooking, the library’s open for the kids so you can attend the meeting of the council, who are 7 votes, who control the Community Assets, basically.
Just come and be a neighbor.
FFFUUUCCCCKKK! Was that a can of worms.
I have the proverbial ‘several hundred mile buffer’. But there will probably be some baby-sitting duty eventually.
We are already Grand Pups.
Take home with a good Netflix program. Teddy Partridge recommended Torchwood when I’m was desperate for a new fix.
Oh, yeah! We’re all hooked.
A pleasure. However, every time my phone rings, I about hit the ceiling!
You’re a good person for opening that ‘can of worms’, M’dear…! ;-)
I use to work at a food bank. There are some stuff that they have to throw out because of legal liabilities. Basically, they get dumped with a load of food that the supermarkets don’t sell and we have to sort through it to figure out what we can keep and what we can’t.
I hope it does not go on for hours. . .too hard. Come on baby, don’t be hard on your mama. Or your Grandma, or the Lurking Mod! I mean it.
i remember other women shrieking stuff like that when i had my first. Alas, she was three weeks late, and they tried inducing for three days before the doc did a c-section. By the end of the third day of inducing, every time one of those “AAAGGHHH ITS ALL YOUR FAULT YOU BASTARD” ladies was wheeled down the hall, i’d start sobbing “why can’t that be meeeeeee! wahhh!”
Pop quiz!
someguy66, glad you could join the festivities.
You know we’re putting horrid amounts of pressure on this child and mother, right?
Damn, it’s hard not to.
Easter Season the homeless are getting tons of sugar from donations normally potato chips and cookies. last 2 weeks well this week ice cream. brownies, cupcakes, potato chips plus the last 2 weeks someone kicked in enough AZ ice teas so I could have a few the first 6 weeks I never got offered any food I got extra hot dogs, brownies, could have had ice cream cupcakes AZ ice tea.
Is the GOP trying to give the homeless diabetes or is this Easter giving?
My older bro was behind his wife in delivery and supporting her back when she grabbed his ears and would not let go! now that was funny.
The best thing, though – Suzanne can be there for Jen at this moment. Jitters aside, I am very thankful for that.
Ooh, That must’ve truly sucked…! 8-(
Hmm…
What’s the answer?
Wait did membership include grandpa duty??
Probably the cockroaches factoid.
Suckers!
That is for sure. We are all glad for that. I’m a chicken, and after throwing up and laying on the floor, I had to go to work, so I missed whatever of that sort of drama my sister had. The baby father in that case was mostly just a sperm donor, so he was useless then (I’m sure) as always.
I perused the comments a bit. There didn’t seem to be a consensus.
The having of babies is very individual…..everyone does the best she can. The whole point is that no matter how you do it, for the most part you get a prize at the end. And most of us (those babymills excepted) it is something we only do a few times. Memorable. Hopefully, happily memorable.
Lucky 100 for Lurking Mod! Suz will be so proud of you!
Baby gift idea: Exploding animals!!!
*raises hand*
Check!
Missed ya last night for The Beatles celebration, O openhope.
Our Suzanne invited us all to share. Remember when she said she might have a surprise announcement?
There’s nothing you can do that can’t be done, it’s easy.
Okay, now that’s what I call an homage!
I’m thinking it’s the 22% of us who eat truffles!
Jonathan Schell in The Fate Of The Earth says only “grasses and insects” will be left if the bombs go off.
Grasses, insects and Cheney in a bunker.
well, it was worth it *g*
because of that lovely little lady that finally consented to be born, i have a wonderful grandson *g*
and it wasn’t bad enough to scare me off from having another … the second was a piece of cake, so to speak. The only bad part was when The Princess was born, she opened one eye, looked around, and then closed both eyes so tight there was one crease across her face. She refused to open her eyes for a week, stubborn little double-scorpio. I was so worried we wouldn’t bond correctly if she wouldn’t look at me LOL
Actually if i were close i would not mind a bit.
And Joe Lieberman.
Mythbusters irradiated the hell out of some bugs a couple seasons back. There were some flies that actually survived better than cockroaches.
Apparently we will not need bombs, just some random nuke plants on some random fault lines will do the trick.
Did you catch the video someone posted earlier of the drive to Fukushima? All I could think about was the plants and animals stuck there.
*heh* Congrats Lurk…! Suz would be proud…! ;-)
That is true, although I would certainly embarrass myself with the whole burping thing.
Oh, they mean the kid… never mind.
Alright… Whatcha drinking, bg…? ;-)
lol, yes we are!
Thought that was a goodluck thing.
With respect, Kris, there are no ‘models’ for the unthinkable.
Whatever goes with Zyrtec. . .thanks!
For all of those in favor of a party switch, Introducing the “Toddler Party“.
Aloha, Margot…! That we are, eh…? ;-)
Broke down with munchies & made some popcorn.
*passing bowl around*
I will have to find out the good news later. . .I am exhausted from allergies this week, and the trees that have been trying to kill me are not here at Little Momma’s, so I might actually get some sleep tonight.
Have fun everyone, don’t leave a mess for Suz to clean up and go easy on the Lurking Mod, we better not wear our our welcome on the first night.
Live/love like there is no tomorrow, peace to everyone!
I don’t work there but 2 friends do. They have a lot of food that comes in in odd quantities. Isn’t enough to go around into all the boxes. So, it gets put on a shelf. Like Thai or Indian condiments, lot’s of good stuff if you could set things destined for the dumpster aside for planned meals.
But, the Health Dept. says we have to have a 3 basin sink and a free standing hand sink before we can even BEGIN to talk Community Meals. Which would then require a Special Events Permit, provided your working space has 4 fucking sink basins, at $100 a pop, for a non-picnic style event. Hot dog grilling is only $35. But, you can’t use that clean Community Hall kitchen to cut those onions for grilling. Has to be outside on premise or in a Health Certified kitchen.
Our only alternative is a true potluck, with no reimbursement of money spent. No one in this day and age does Potluck. It turns into chips and Safeway cakes.
I’m trying to think of a way around it, but it seems ironclad.
The way to control the social culture is through the restrictions imposed by Government. We need more Socialist Democrats. And yes, that is a buzz word for the surveillance data-base.
Margot! Welcome to the big event!
I wasn’t here when the wooly mammoths turned their tusks down.
*on edit* Late Late Night Grandpups.
nite bg!
It’s so horrible to watch what’s being thrown away, as a cook who cooks large amounts. Fresh vegetables, fruit, bread, all goes in the dumpster at 3:30 every fucking Food Bank day. 3 fucking 30!
All the food that could be made from all that food.
Peace out, bg…! ;-)
Good night bg. Thanks for the thoughtful reminder to the partiers, and wake up to some fun news.
As always, many thanks, and as always, I have to refuse b/c I still have all my own teeth (many with crowns — two awesomely gorgeous gold ones, one not even a month old).
Look up the words worm culutre
thank you Lurk, I wouldn’t miss it for the world.
Cali throws away a sadium full of food
Mom!!! Mom!!! I gotta have Wrex!!! Pleeeeeease? Wah!!! I wanna Wrex!!!!!
I’m not moving!!! No!!! I don’t wanna put it back!!!
I wanna Wrex!!! I wanna Wrex!!!
A sensible, organic baby gift that shows you care.
For pollen allergies: a teaspoon every day of raw, local wildflower honey.
*Hi, eCHAN!*
I hope Jen is laughing at the idea of how many pups are wishing her well. Hugs to Jen and her mama.
I don’t have allergies so I’ve not been able to test the theory myself & haven’t gotten any feedback yet.
For you Margot, some Mcguinn, Clark and Hillman
Hey! I wouldn’t mind having one of those now, at my current ‘extended’ age.
Had to take a short break; man, virtual labor is tough! No news yet, I take it…
Consider this reply feedback. I never had pollen (or any) allergies until I moved here to the South. My barber, a local native, told me she takes the honey regimen. I started it a few years ago and the allergies disappeared. Now this: last week I called to make an appointment and was told she quit. Damn. I’ve lately acquired chondrodermatitis nodularis helicis, and she and I were about to begin a styling adventure that would have my hair longer and covering the ears. I am now having some anxiety about meeting a new barber and boring him or her to tears.
I want this. Then I want to start… um… monitoring… like… you know. Things.
I think all firepups should get one for… um… monitoring… like… you know. Things!
I think someone’s watching me.
We are in a holding-pattern right now. Last news was at a about 9:30pm Pacific
I am now officially out of fingernails.
Oh, I saw one of those on a sitcom! Tres cool!
When we moved to Texas for a while, my son was in agony over the pollen. He’s allergic to Houston, apparently.
Suzanne’s Jujube will have a rare or unique collection of blog comments about her when she was still invisible. How cool is that!
We can get you some fakes from the drug store as replacements!
Hmmm, first child, 6 cm at 2130 Pacific…I am not a doctor, but I bet we’re in for a long wait.
Barbers, now aka hair stylists, have as an integral part of their job to listen to their victims, no matter how boring.
I told my RAs that the reason they had to move on after 2 years is bc I had run out of stories & needed fresh ears to tell the old stories to.
Thanks for the feedback on honey. I presumed it is true. Lots of lots of good stuff from the bee girls, of which honey is only one.
Hey LL! Nice to see you again, good friend! You doing okay?
With an HD video cam installed it’s like having an eye in the sky. You could (theoretically, if you could get close enough) fly one of these babies over the Daiichi nuclear power plants and get some great views.
Why the Japanese government hasn’t enlisted an army of these is beyond me.
The prognosticator-in-chief (that would be Suzanne) at the time said she expected a 1am Pacific delivery. I am unable to argue the point from my current vantage, but I will not be leaving until there is news.
The worms are getting into my brain.
However, I have incredible good worms in my garden. We had a sunny rain-break and I scooped some prime alfalfa hay mulch away from my snap pea rows. If nature stops raining down buckets on us…..I’ve got kickass dirt.
Aitch my good friend! Yes I’m doing alright, aside from this grandpup-induced insomnia; how ’bout you, doing okay down there in Carolina?
Laughing the Pixies don’t gather for anything but fate, :)
I thing the Japanese government is only too happy to not have the world see what is happening.
That said, there are probably a few drones lying around…
Suz would be the expert of course, having had that experience twice – I bet she is wearing a groove in the floor with the pacing!
Sorry Dearire not you eCHAN
thanks for sticking around to update us all – it’s pretty exciting in a slo-mo 3rd hand kind of way. popcorn sounds delicious eCAHN – will have to go heat up the wok…
Agreed. I would be.
Houston is one of the most polluted cities in the U.S. Have a good friend who lives there.
If you think it is pollen, not pollution, try the raw (unpasturized) organic honey regimen. Has to be consumed without heating, as that destroys the enzymes that fight the allergies. So a teaspoon or so of cold honey every day I think is the treatment.
I once knew an allergist who explained the treatment to me. Injections of the allergen, starting with very small dosages, working up until the body developed a tolerance for them. I think that might be the way honey works. Just enough flower residue left in the honey so that the human consumer becomes tolerant over time, but not enough to elicit an allergic reaction.
oh what a great voice…thanks Lurk
As I posted before, my ex was dilated that much for a week!!! And it wasn’t her first!
Then came the “YOUSONOFABITCHTHISISALLYOURFAULT!!!!!” tango.
That really messes with the beauty of motherhood.
Damn good advice in that video.
Some one on one of the Fukushimia threads reported that USG has both satellites & drones flying over it, doing both photo & radiation detection.
Where I go is called Tower Place Barber Shop. There’s no pole, and the owner and staff are stylists. But they use the electric clippers aka lawn mowers instead of shears unless I make a special request, and then they hate me for adding time to their work. I miss my wivesandlovers who took care of me that way.
There’s a bee’s nest inside my kitchen window. Recently I heard that the bee colony collapse is caused by lost sight, owing to the ozone depletion’s myriad effects. I watched a bee or several bees continually missing the hole to the nest, as though they had failing vision. I can’t describe the sadness and helplessness.
There are a whole lot of people waiting for this news…
And I have this smile I can’t seem to get rid of.
My pleasure.
Oh, yeah. Now. Now they’re going to use robot helicopters. These would be 100 times better because, unlike the robot helicopter that can only circle outside the buildings, these can go inside for a close-up look.
They are consistently weeks behind me. I am really stunned at their clumsiness in dealing with this. Too slow. Too little. Too late.
Any good doc will tell you, the better the view, the better the surgeon.
Hey, my son and I were watching a PBS series “Making Things Stronger”. When it started I bet that they’d turn it into freak paths of intelligence before it was over. He wouldn’t take the bet.
So, this very smart man raises 1 million spiders and weaves an ultra strong, light weight fabric. It’s in a museum so it’s all good.
This smart man started life as a goat raiser”s son, so his logical solution to not being a spider farmer was to genetical alter goats to produce these spider strands in their milk. He has the most kickass goat barn I’ve ever seen. Oh,yeah.
Goats and drones.
Thank you for that.
Looking at the shots I have seen to date is both macabre and fascinating.
Hmmm. The Green Slime is on Turner Classic Movies at 4AM est….
Glad to hear you’re okay and also waiting up. Here it was humid today, first time since way back in aught ten.
My niece was pregnant with her second at the same time I was pregnant with my first. My son was born 3 days before her daughter. Apparently she experienced it as competitive pregnancies. So she was pissed that I gave birth before she did, but then she outdid me by giving birth at home. Her water broke, she called her husband and ob, but by the time anyone got there, Laura had already popped out.
Modern med, of course, although that was 29 years ago. BC Laura had been born at home, she was confined to a kind of isolation away from her mom at the hospital until they could determine she didn’t have anything icky.
Now that is genius!
Spider goats – the documentary.
For Jen and Suz (I told you so. :-))
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xu8tdXBkQhY&feature=related
Wow, loved that video! I hope Suz sees it and passes it on to Jen. Lots of truth there.
emerson! How nice to see you.
Last Monday it was HHH here (hazy, hot and humid) and then it’s been a typical early spring roller coaster. Today (or rather, yesterday!) was rainy and in the 40′s all day. This coming Monday we’re supposed to be in the 80′s again.
Mine, after a week of dilated, incipient labor (or is that insipid?) her water broke after I left for work. My bass player at the time had just lost his place and was sleeping in the garage (our rehearsal studio). He got to race her to the hospital.
Her water broke around 8:30 am. David was born that day at 14:14 on November 14th. He’s 25 now and still has a thing for the number 14.
emerson! Long, long time, how’ve you been?
Oh dear on your poor honey bee girls. I have typed too often on what I have learned about CCD, but vision problems is not one I’ve heard before. I did got to a lecture on bee anatomy and they navigate by scent & communicate location of good fleurs to raid via the bee waggle dance.
I need to type up a word document, or maybe write a diary on what I know so I can just copy it or link into threads. I’ll do that tomorrow.
Meanwhile, tonight (this very early morning) I am going to retire.
Very bestest to Suz & Jen & forthcoming baby.
Night all.
Kids developing their immune systems might be better off you and me we are old. But my mom let me play in dirt 5 yrs old my Dad had a rusted steel cable from a power plant his work repelling down our hill.
Lock jaw shots came at work in my 20′s.
The other bros and sister of mine in the dirt grabbing the cable because I could. Well Texas Mesquite makes me vomit I think I’m allegric but no healthcare so I don’t know for sure but the reat of the family No.
My Grand Aunts family is from Texas I’m sure I would have been a Premmie there.
We know very little about how anything ‘works’. You’ve described homeopathic therapy.
When a honeybee chomps down on a flower to get its nectar, the nectar excites the bee and the bee’s buzzing produces the precise frequency that releases the flower’s pollen. It’s music, after all. I watched a lecture on BookTv that explained that.
Isn’t it good? I’d recommend all mothers-to-be view it. Make that mothers. Mothers and fathers. Those are truths.
suze posted on fb 24 minutes ago “7cm…..she’s doing so good!!!”
*bites nails some more*
BabyWatch™: 7 centimeters now, everyone is doing great.
Nite!
Thank you, Lurk. It’s a special morning. g*
Thank you so much! What a smile-as-you-watch video
Good night eCahn
I have a photograph of my beautiful and pregnant mother and my sister, their cheeks in a very affectionate touch, taken about a month before I was born, and probably capturing one of the last moments when both of them were still happy.
“freak paths of intelligence” yeah, that’s a great description of that kind of thinking. Amazing.
7 cent….first baby….she’s hitting transition, right?
Guess it’s been awhile.
Hi LL. Hangin’in. You’re still rockin’, I see.
Good to see you!
‘transition…’
I have no idea, but I would love to know what that means. Or not.
Now it gets interesting!
BTW, I was my wife’s breath coach. When the time comes, guys, you don’t need to remind her to breathe. I don’t care what it is she’s doing.
And, another piece of advice from someone who cares. If you forget the advice above, stay out of arm’s reach.
Those things can rip your face off and God’s gift to mothers in labor is: she’ll never even notice!
Mmmmmm…. Epidurals….
I really like that one, too!
Your command is my wish!
Great comment, AND the double c-note!
Last night I had the magic 300!!!! I’m on a roll!
I see.
Thank you so much.
Oh yeah, I’m keeping on – you? Everything good?
My cat has been competing for my attention for the last several minutes; I’m sure she’s wondering why we are staying up too frickin’ late!
And check #93 I bet there are better stories. congrats on the 200.
And a good night, eCAHN (though it’s morning).
It’s when you start to stop dancing/waiting during contractions and enter the “You son-of-a-bitch, you trapped me into this” phase. Biting on face clothes.
It’s a stage. You know kids, ages and stages. Well, this is one of the primers. :]
hrm, I didn’t see that on my FB :-(
Not a great time to be an expectant father…! ;-)
I was in class when my wife delivered, but when my cat delivered (many times) I was there with her.
I have heard of it…
The expectant father, after much anxiety, hopefully catches the baby. Hopefully it’s a vaginal birth. But, no matter, Dad’s the Man.!!!
omg, that reminds me of a story from my olden days: growing up, we had a cat called Mandy. She was named after Mandy Rice-Davies, no kidding. Anyway, one Father’s Day morning she gave birth to her babies right on top of where Dad was sleeping in bed.
Hi Margot! Here’s a present. Aretha said there were 3 things worth seeing in London-the Beatles, the Stones, and Terry Reid.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrgjEUfRcdU&playnext=1&list=PLFE61512C8EF06CED
Too funny!
Nice warm spot. Amazing she didn’t hide away, what a trusting kitty.
I was going back through the comments and found that Lurking Mod captured the 100. As Suzanne’s replacement.
Suzanne, who frequently captures the 100. hummmm……………….
What IS the 100? What does it DO ???
Goodnight all.
Sweet dreams.
And according to legend, Dad slept through the whole thing – but I’m going to have to ask him about that sometime, I don’t think I would have! This was sometime in the early 60′s.
Pleasant dreams, openhope…!
Mandy Rice-Davies was friends with Christine Keeler. The news broke in 1963. You weren’t born yet, were you? Brigid Fonda portrayed her in Scandal, a pretty good movie.
Thanks so much for that, I’d never heard of Terry Reid (not that I remember anyway). What a treat.
Yep, I was around – although only 3 at the time ;-) My folks must have got the cat just after that scandal broke. Mandy and my brother were “kittens” together.
Hope, there is something magnetic about those numbers.
I used to give Suzanne a pretty frequent ration of good-natured grief about hitting the ’00′, until I hosted this spot a couple of times and hit it twice myself!
A pleasure as always.
He should have been promoted in the US back then like the others were. I have to agree with Aretha.
100 is a mystical comment #, placed exactly between 99 and 101. There’s nothing like it.
Do you think the LLN hosts get paid based on the # of comments?
Sweet and happy dreams, openhope.
Trying to keep myself awake here…
I posted this on my FB a few hours ago, but I wouldn’t mind hearing it again
Carey
I was in grade school in 1963 :)
My cat’s just doing that Sphinx thing next to the laptop. Doing fine.
Mine has settled down for the moment too, drowsing atop my right foot ;-)
:] xxxooo
*salutes smartly*
Great one.
Emotions paint memories. I was in class in the 6th grade when the principal got on the intercom and announced President Kennedy had been shot in Dallas. The teacher asked for a moment of silence for those who wished to pray.
My 6th grade teacher, Miss Blood, had also taught my mother who, when she was a child, went to the same elementary school.
My favorite Joni album is Blue — one of many defining moments of this person’s life.
The Circle Game
Glad you like it Lurk, it’s definitely a fave over here!
Agreed.
First grade, Miss Bower, dissolved into tears and collapsed without speaking a word.
He’s still playing in LA these days. The voice is starting to go, but the emotion is still there. The undiscovered superstar of the 60′s. Jimmy Page offered him the singing gig with Zeppelin. He turned it down but suggested they get Robert Plant.

I don’t remember it of course, being only 3 at the time, but my mom said she had been washing dishes when the news broke, and she stood at the kitchen door holding her dish rag and crying…
I was working at a summer camp in upstate New York. I got the stories in the New York Post and the New York Daily News, both tabloids. My world was all a-swimming from the ‘scandal’. You know, like, what??? I couldn’t understand any of it. Really, I never understood until I saw Dance WIth A Stranger (1983) with Miranda Richardson portraying a ‘B-girl’, Ruth Ellis, and the last woman who was executed in Great britain.
The day democracy began to die. It’s been on life support ever since.
The right plays for keeps but back then the nation didn’t want to believe.
Ever see The Strawberry Statement? It ends with that song.
This is my favorite Joni.
How does someone write like this? What a gift.
No, but now I’ll have to. :)
I heard another famous singer a few weeks ago on a live radio show and it took about a half hour for the voice to warm up, but then it sounded wonderful.
Dulcimers rule!
Oh yeah! Love this one too. So evocative.
Who was that, Margot?
I came out of class and someone mentioned it, I walked to the local pool hall where there was a TV, in the parking lot at the rear entrance to the pool hall, there was the local barber shop, and the barber said it was a head shot.
I also remember exactly where i was and what I was doing when I first heard The Beatles.
I’ll probably always remember when I first heard that Suzanne’s daughter Jen was in labor.
That last sentence of yours makes me smile!
I was old enough to know what had happened, but not old enough to know what it meant.
And yeah, there was a party about Suzanne!
Good catch. Those Joni videos get wiped from YouTube all the time.
She has the best overbite in modern music. (I have the same overbite.)
Heck, it used to take my fingers a good 10 minutes to loosen up in a live performance, especially outdoors! I got to using a hand warmer. That helped a lot.
Now I don’t have much trouble getting loose. Even after a couple of years of not practicing, as I recently discovered, LOL! I just get blisters on my fingers.
Emmylou Harris. She was on Prairie Home Companion. I remember seeing her in concert in about ’80…
4th grade in Mrs. Blanchfield’s class. Sister Christian came into the room crying and whispered something in her ear and the anguish on her face is something I’ll never forget. She told us to put our heads down on our desks and pray. The first of my heroes murdered.
I learned Joni’s A Case OF You on the dulcimer. It’s actually pretty easy.
Oh I love Emmy Lou. What a voice. True story, my best friend’s husband was a neighborhood friend of hers when she lived in NoVA as a kid. He got to see her again years later at a concert and they had their picture taken together.
I can relate. I have a bunch of tools so I can grab good stuff before it disappears.
Can you grab us some Dylan with those tools?
Tres cool!
I should pull a Suzanne here and ask you where the video is on youtube… ;)
Emmylou you could say has always been the conscience of our music. She’s not a goddess, she’s a Titan.
Dylan disappears too?
Me also. I’ve got all the Joni early stuff (most of it BBC) downloaded and safe.
I just love her. And her warm-up band was Asleep at the Wheel, how good is that?
The Byrds with David Crosby and Bob Dylan.
Couldn’t have stated that better myself.
New Years Eve
Sometimes I’ve been able to see some live stuff, but yeah – you can hardly get a studio version of anything, in my experience.
Oh, so you say…
Someone got away with a very long 10cc live show during the Deceptive Bends tour, and I was in the middle of grabbing it last year, when… poof – Youtube vanished it.
Joni’s A Case OF You
Diana Krall’s Paris 2001 cover is pretty damn excellent also.
zomg! I guess I haven’t tried looking in a while….thanks, this is my all time fave!
OMG! The Grass Roots did Dylan’s Ballad of a Thin Man. I had no ideer…
Aw, thanks, LL. : )
My Little Red Book – Love, American Bandstand 1965
Wow-that’s a pretty good band when you barely notice Chris Hillman is on the stage!
On the topic of His Bobness
The Times They Are A-Censored
Hey, that was great! Do you have any more oldies?
Sure! Linked on the same page, the stoned one singing Light My Fire on American Bandstand 2 years later!
BEWARE: It’s the short version.
The Bobs – Live – Though the Wall
I really like 10CC. I have to watch it because their music gets into my head and replays for days.
I’m ready for to fade, goodnight all, best of everything for everyone.
(I saw Joni for her Court And Spark Tour (1974?), small Carnegie Hall type theater, front row lower mezzanine, I could almost reach out and touch her…)
The other Bobs interviewing Sarah Palin.
Not 10cc (I love them too!) but from the same era
How Long
Me too. Even after Lol Creame and Kevin Godley left the band, Rick Stewart’s guitar stood out.
Six Days in Labor – oops.
It just seems like six days.
Six Days on the Road
G’night my friend, I’m probably not too far behind you. Rest well!
3 guitarists

I should have been a disc jockey. This is fun.
Actually, I did get a 3rd class license and had my own radio show (with a friend) for ONE WHOLE NIGHT before the station owner threw us off the air for playing HIPPIE MUSIC when he wanted top 40 crap.
Look, it was his fault our 4-track music tape wouldn’t play correctly on his 2-track deck in the studio. So we saw the late-night guys had all of these albums…
I can’t imagine why this pissed him off.
Lurk, have you any way to contact anyone on the FDL day shift to pass along news of the blessed event when it occurs? I think the late shift is fading here, myself included!
Is it cabbage soup yet??
good grief, I never knew who did that song. The price of overplaying something on the radio, you just assume it’ll always be there (or at least I did)
not yet! I’m fading fast here but we’ll hear the news tomorrow I expect.
Ha, excellent!
Another true story, and I wish I still had the cassette tape: back around ’79, one of the local rock stations (DC-101) had a thing where you could write in and send them a list of songs to play and enter their “Sittin’ In Hour” contest. I won one time and it was so much fun. Took two friends with me and we had a great time, and got high with the host after the show…
Cream, Hendrix, John Lee Hooker – It’s Buddy Guy!
The staff is pretty anxious for news. Were I to hold back any information, I would surely be demoted to bottle-washer!
Rest assured, they will be crowing about it.
hello loooove, no baby yet ;-)
Wow.
Good deal!
lsls! Welcome to the party!
w00t, I accidentally got the magical 300!
That was awesome. Can you find a clean version of Crazy fingers? I cant find anything worth anything.
We did the same thing with a certain KOME program director! We were trying to get him to play my stuff which, at the time, wasn’t exactly ready for prime-time, recording-wise.
Hiya, yeah I’m up..haha…early and late to the party at the same time!
Hi LL looove.
Thanks for the save. If I got the 100 AND the 300, Suzanne would never let me forget it.
Grateful Dead – Crazy Fingers
Thx for the music!
Heh – no, she wouldn’t!
It is sooooo late/early here, I don’t know whether to grab some zzzz’s or go ahead and start the coffee!
I was just considering my options as well – if we don’t get another centimeter soon, I will have to put on the coffee.
It’s 1:35 am here. I’ll skip the coffee, but thanks for reminding me I have to get the coffee maker set up for morning! BRB
Yeah yea never know when them russkis will slip a gas line under your nose. Let’s fracture Wassila and they all can benefit from fracking.
I’m drinking coffee…we just found out about and hour ago that our nephew and my brother-in-law were in an accident in Nacogdoches. Everyone is basically ok, but our nephew has fractured his hip and probably needs surgery…so Mr. LS and I are wide awake.
How many at this point or last point?
Oh lordy, sorry to hear that; I hope the surgery is a success and your nephew will feel better very soon…
Still no news, eh…?
Best one i found but ok. thanks.
Ah, we are (I mean Jen is) at 7, the epidural is being all that it can be, and Suzanne reported that she is doing very well.
Suzanne sends her love and appreciation to all of you.
Gettin’ close…that can go pretty rapidly..wishing them the best!!
Ooh, my condolences and wishes for a speedy recovery, LS…!
Thanks CT!
good thoughts…
We send the same to her in return!
I’m gonna have to split; need to try and get at least a little bit of sleep. But I’ll be sure to check in here and at FB later for the happy news! Thanks Lurk for hanging in there with us…see you all later!
Sweet dreams, LL…!
Lou Reed & John Cale. Paris. 1972.

Good morning, pups. It’s Collins, Blow and Nocera today. Ms. Collins, in “Donald Trump Strikes Back,” says in a Letter to the Editor, he covers all his issues with Barack Obama’s citizenship status. And he complains about being referred to as a “birther.” Poor Donald’s delicate little fee-fees are hurt… In “Rubik’s Cube of Re-Elections” Mr. Blow says President Obama must retool his message and image if he wants to energize a fractured and disheartened electorate. No shit, Sherlock. Mr. Nocera addresses the “N.C.A.A.’s Double Standard,” and says in the world of Division I men’s basketball, the big-shot coach gets a wrist slap and the player gets an iron fist.
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got corned beef hash with poached eggs this morning. I’m swamped with work, so after I get another cup of tea to finish prying my eyelids open I’m off to get started. Have a great day.
