  • Here comes the shutdown, folks.
  • And now, we own the outcome in Libya.
  • “Leadership” = screwing the elderly and the sick.
  • Because he was so awesome as DNC Chair?

Debbie Wasserman Schultz, excellent choice for new DNC Chair! She is a Pit Bull (that is a complement). You have to be when facing the GOP. She is TV savvy and is not afraid to speak up for the people.

Cue SCOTUS to rule in favor of the repigs. The sequel.

But even with 97% of the vote counted, less than 2,000 votes separated the candidates.

That close margin had political insiders from both sides talking about the possibility of a recount, which Wisconsin has avoided in statewide races in recent decades. Any recount could be followed by lawsuits – litigation that potentially would be decided by the high court.

Mornin’, BT, pups

DWS, excellent choice for DNC chair. She’ll do exactly what DLC/Third Way tell her to do. Neoliberal is as neoliberal does.

We have to figure out a way to better counteract the campaign money coming from the right. WI recount prolly a given now. Organizing at the local level more important than ever.

Obama’s bipartisanship fetish was seen as a sign of weakness by the Republicans and they have therefore forced him to cave at every turn. Obama has earned a primary challenge. The working and middle class deserve someone that will fight for their interests and not a narcissistic caver.

Well, it’s moot anyway since Obama “picked” Wasserman-Schultz for the post. We can identify better choices, but AFAIK it’s a done deal.

G’morning, Firepups! Just read the entire WI election liveblog thread. I’m still not sure who won “officially” but it looks like a recount. 778 comments and nary a troll.

I am not going to be bummed out, that another warmonger, and corporatist, has replaced the previous warmonger corporatist, the incomparable Tim Kaine. Kaine was replaced five months after successfully leading a Democratic Party to defeat. But he did his most important job for quisling Obama. Kaine led the D’s toward supporting everything the Republicans and Ronald Reagan want. Obama has a crush on Reagan.

But the reason I am not bummed out is because I received my brand new beautiful FIREDOGLAKE T-shirt!

Paul Ryan and the extreme Republicans in Congress are only interested in the “numbers” of corporate profits. This plan blows up the deficit while making deep cuts in programs that matter, “balancing” the budget with tricks that place he burden on ordinary Americans. RyanCare will literally kill seniors off by ending Medicare.

I managed to get into their chat room late yesterday (closes at 8 CDT) and the sense is that the 3rd hatch will be tomorrow, based on when eggs were laid. I happened to be looking when one baby got out of the nest (i.e., out from under Mom) and poked around for several minutes before it went back where it belonged.

Morning BT & Firepups:

The fact that the WI Supreme Court race is too close to call is somewhat disconcerting, given the fact that recalls of other “elected officials” will be forthcoming. In other words, the wingnuts will be out in force (with all their Kool Koch & Citizen’s United money) to make sure the recall efforts fail.

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

(Thanks, HST)

If you like the Democratic Party as the left-hand puppet of the MOTU, doing the bidding of the MOTU (no less than the Republican Party right-hand puppet) and not representing the best interests of the American people, then you might think that Debbie Wasserman Schultz is an excellent choice.

By afternoon it’s usually up to 175K or so. I didn’t realize that it had been so widely reported in the media.

I just have it up in a separate tab with the sound (on the stream) turned off, and grab a look every so often. I could easily just sit and watch all day.

I dont quite understand the enthusiasm of DWS. If nothing else this is obummer pandering to the left because he knows hes screwed without them. But putting that aside what exactly will she do? Howard Dean was considered a godsend when he was appointed and now is hypocrite and corrupt as much as the next dem. So seriously besides lying to dem supporters about how great obama and the dems are in order to get them to donate what else will she do?

Why do these wingers love and defend Gbagbo so much? Because he’s a member of “The Fellowship” the pantomime “Christian” group from which another African leader is pushing an execute the gays law. Could it be Gbagbo was leaning in that direction too?

Maybe it’s a stretch, but the stories here and the results in WI indicate that probably more than just 30% want a fascist, authoritarian government to “return government to the people,” but actually to end the Constitution as the law of the land. The Constitution will then be used only as an aegis to hold people in line. The use of lies to substitute for facts and reality seems to present no problems for the supporters because this is what they want to hear.

NE Iowa is the ‘driftless zone” not covered by the last glacier. Limestone bluffs and a beautiful Oneota Valley of the Upper Iowa River. My Golden will be the trout stream nest to the nests hauling 20 lb. limestone rocks from the chrystal clear water to have her retrieve.

My little slice of heaven.

I find it hard to follow right wing “Christian” motivations – and supporting the loser in the Ivory Coast election is a case in point.

But it does seem that the GOP is taking out for a test drive the meme “Do you want a Secular Atheist nation friendly with Islamic Radicalism” – forgetting all the ways that meme does not apply to the US and the Democratic Party.

Guess it is all about “framing the issue” and “hot buttons for rubes” – fortunately I do not see much more than isolated instances of the above being test driven these days – so it may be a step too far.

Thanks for that update on Gbagbo, Margaret. I didn’t realize that Ivory Coast’s dictator who LOST the popular election was supported by Doug Coe & his nefarious C Street “Family/Fellowship” tribe. Yeah, quite possibly Gbagbo was leaning towards supporting similar “kill the gays” legislation that Ugandan “Family/Fellowship” so-called “Christian businessmen” are pushing to be passed in Uganda.

Figures! Here we have a dictator flouting the law in Ivory Coast, and we pick up the rock and what scurries out but a bunch of C Streeters like scum bag Inhofe… unsurprised.

Thanks for connecting those dots. Doug Coe’s evil “band of brothers” (they’re very male dominate) is very active around Africa… allegedly in the name of spreading the word about “Jesus,” but in reality about being brutal, dictatorial and figuring out how to rip off money in various ways, usually by oppressing “others” like gays and women.
