“Notwithstanding the tragic loss of life in the Gulf of Mexico, we achieved an exemplary statistical safety record as measured by our total recordable incident rate and total potential severity rate,” the SEC statement reads. “As measured by these standards, we recorded the best year in safety performance in our Company’s history.”

Now that’s accountability.

The rich are different from you and me.

11 men were killed on the Deepwater Horizon, but there must have also been
many workers who suffered horrific injuries and burns. I’ve never seen a MSM story about them.

%$#@&#!!!! The son of Pastor Jones, the far right’s “new hero”:

“We’re not big debaters. We’re not very well-educated,” Luke Jones said. “We’re just simple people trying to do the right thing.”

People, this is why we have prisons!!!! Ya get photos of the guy being dragged off to prison wearing heavy chains, ya toss him into a deep hole, let him think about what he’s done and then ask him to explain his actions! By then, perhaps it might have dawned upon him that “Hmm, gee, that might have been a stupid thing to do.”

If you believe that, you can believe this one too.

The plant operator says it will dump around 11,500 tons of water into the ocean on Tuesday. The Japanese government says this poses no major health risk.

Mornin’, BT, pups

Today is the 43rd anniversary of the assassination of the Rev Dr Martin Luther King, Jr in Memphis, TN. Remember why he was there? To support the sanitation workers of Memphis. The night before he was murdered Dr King gave a speech:

Well, I don’t know what will happen now. We’ve got some difficult days ahead. But it really doesn’t matter with me now, because I’ve been to the mountaintop.

We could really use a voice like King’s these days. I don’t see anyone on the landscape that carries that kind of weight. If there were, we’d see teabagger ass-kicking, pressure to end these idiot wars, a glaring light focused on the Wall Street crime wave, and more.

I believe Muslim outrage didn’t exist until Prez Karzai of Afghanistan condemned the burning 4 days after April 20. It is not news for US domestic consumption for somebody to burn a Koran, or a US flag.

The meekest response to the Muslim Thought Police was Yale University publishing a scholarly book about the European cartoons, without the cartoons themselves.

I think the Muslim Thought Police might be trying to intimidate Westerners into self-censorship. I also think the sky is often blue.

I myself have no problem with that. It is called “paid advertising”. We should be laughing at the clowns pretending they are leading the Democratic Party and the President’s campaign.

Recall that that the worst campaign ever, was led by the incompetent Tim Kaine who was not fired for epic campaign failure.

I predict Kaine will also throw the 2012 election to the Teabaggers, just as in 2010. Then the “left” will be blamed by “Oilbama”.

See, Prez Karzai is unsophisticated and real devout, practically a saint, if Muslims have saints. He had no idea people in AfPak would react with violence. Only the cynical would think it a political calculation on his part. As for those endangered UN personnel and US soldiers, Karzai quoted Gov Willie Stark(approximately): “Tough tiddy. Haley Barbour’s wife is just as “smart” as he is:

The wife of Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour (R) is less than thrilled about the idea of him running for president. “It horrifies me,” she told a local ABC affiliate. “It’s been a lot to be first lady of the state of Mississippi and this would be 50 times bigger,” she said in the interview aired on Friday. “It’s a huge sacrifice for a family to make.”

With a population of just under 3 million, (2,938,618 in 2008), that would be well over 100 times Marsha. Just sayin’.

The big oil people have no shame; just like the other big corpses running our country. To be involved in the Gulf disaster and say “Notwithstanding the tragic loss of life in the Gulf of Mexico, we achieved an exemplary statistical safety record as measured by our total recordable incident rate and total potential severity rate,” the SEC statement reads. “As measured by these standards, we recorded the best year in safety performance in our Company’s history” is beyond any possible sense of decency. This was disaster for the dead and injured, disaster for their families, and disaster for our country for many years to come. The rocking chair is made of some brown resin based plastic and really looks like wicker. I found it at Big Lots and told the mister. He snuck out and bought it for me. Since I’m such an anxious person, I find rocking is a good way to relax and chill. I used to have a nice bentwood one, but it got old and I sold it when I sold my house, 8 years ago. Nope. Go watch the Decora Eagles live webcam. Two tiny babies, a third egg not hatched yet, and mom feeding the babies and nesting and dad bringing food to the nest. I could spend the day watching…

The headline re the right’s new hero is way off the mark. Apparently almost no one likes this guy —- he’s not even getting donations from strangers on his side and his church is in serious financial trouble. Economic sanctions at their best and he still couldn’t hear the message.

Maybe you should take yourself out to lunch after that. Or watch those baby eagles. I just know you’ll discover something to smile about today. I hope. :)

As far as surprises go, that’s one of my favorites. That’s happened to me too.

So, Obama is using some of his campaign dollars here at the Lake? Not so sure it’s going to sway too many around here to support that lying sellout pos, but I’m sure FDL will put the dollars to good use.

I just know I didn’t deliberately plant them there, because they’re about 18″ from the edge of the garage and about that far from the concrete driveway, sorta behind a bush, and on the opposite side of the house from any windows and the sidewalk. I really should dig them up and replant them!

Perhaps if FDL is as true to its values and it says it is, it would remove the Obama ads from the rotation. Or are you against him only when he chooses to not buy your site for ads?

I’m sometimes hesitant to replant “freebies”, as I figure they really want to grow where they show up. The times I tried, they usually died. And, I hate it when that happens.

Why remove the ads? I’d be concerned about it only if FDL started censoring opposition to Obama. My comment was posted on this thread and my diary – 2012: Four More Years of Obama’s Anti-Progressive, Corporatist Presidency? – was published this morning.

In 90% of the articles on this site, they are critical of the President, but then today we’re doing ads for him? Sorta conflicted isn’t it? If Republicans pay for ads, are we doing them too? Don’t give me your crap that they don’t have a say on what ads they will or won’t post, because the site obviously has the right to reject whatever ads, articles or comments it wants.

If the site and its operators were nearly as noble as they like to make themselves out to be, they wouldn’t be selling Obama to the readers. I guess in this day and age though, whatever makes a buck right? Guess the membership drive wasn’t enough, so FDL can be bought just like anyone else.

I won’t give you any of my crap.

FDL isn’t doing ads for Obama. Obama is paying for those ads. Are you saying that Obama’s campaign should not have the right to advertise at FDL?

Meanwhile, that money helps FDL do what FDL does. Now, if FDL were to allow that money to influence what FDL does and were to stop criticizing Obama, I’d say it’s a problem.

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/04/opinion/04krugman.html?_r=1

Krugman is spot on about the con-job the main stream media is ignoring – the Congressional hearings where climate change was to be torn down – only to have their “denier scientist” report that he has changed his mind and now buys “climate change” – followed by accusing the scientist of “having an agenda”.
