Texas Bill Would Legally Protect Evolution-Denying Professors

By: Blue Texan Friday March 18, 2011 10:30 am

Right-wingers love to complain about anti-discrimination laws that protect women, minorities and homosexuals, and they also love to bitch and moan about how hard it is to fire teachers. So this makes perfect sense.

The Party Line – March 18, 2011

In Case of Bradley Manning, Time for Obama to Start Looking Backwards

By: Jon Walker Friday March 18, 2011 9:00 am

Now that three of the nation’s largest newspapers–the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times and New York Times–have editorialized about the unacceptable conditions of the still-untried Bradley Manning, and a high-level State Department official was forced to resign over his remarks about Manning’s treatment, you can no longer plausibly deny that the issue hasn’t risen to the attention of the President of the United States. As such, he is now fully and directly responsible. To paraphrase Harry Truman, the buck has now stopped.

FDIC Sues Washington Mutual Executives for $900 Million

By: David Dayen Friday March 18, 2011 8:18 am

This is really the first attempt at the federal level to hold responsible the executives who made the decisions that crashed their own businesses and the greater economy. The Angelo Mozilo lawsuit by the SEC ended up going nowhere, and former Bank of America CEO Ken Lewis could face a lawsuit by the New York Attorney General’s office. But the FDIC’s action, which they are under a legal obligation to bring if they find wrongdoing at a bank they wind down, clearly takes this up a notch.

The announcement was made within the last half-hour, and shortly after statements by both French and British leaders that airstrikes on Libya would begin “within hours.” The airstrikes were authorized by last night’s vote in the United Nations Security Council.

By: Jim White Thursday March 17, 2011 8:00 pm

I like teachers. They are really smart. They’re cool and they are very patient while kids are learning. But Scottdemort really hates teachers. Why does Scottdemort hate teachers?
