Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble — Leave My Little Girl Alone, live on Austin City Limits. I promised Margaret that I would feature Stevie Ray with attitude this week – h/t darkblack for the video.
What’s on your mind?
Suz!! The promised SVR post. Excellent.
Hey!
hey kris — how’s the east bay tonight? glad ya like it :)
hey ce — how’s ohio tonight?
Beautiful today. 80 degrees, 7mph breeze, not a cloud in the sky.
I just downloaded and installed the ad blocker addon for Firefox 4, btw. FDL now runs like an absolute dream.
i’ve not downloaded ff 4.0 yet… am wanting to hear from folks how they like it — so you are in the yay column :)
portland finally hit 60 today — the latest day in the calendar year for them to do so ever.
Climate change? What climate change? There’s no steenkin’ climate change.
*rolls eyes*
more attitude
My Systems Librarian just did this for me at work today. She hated the ads here. Told me that it was a dirty site.
LOL. Just over the last week or so there have been animated ads, video ads, and popups. As much as I want to click through and support FDL, the new ads were killing my home browser.
Hi Suzzz — firegods
even more
I’m listening to KO’s Q&A session from Cornell a couple nights ago. He’s pretty damn awesome.
hey ppd — how ya doing tonight?
It crashed my computer twice at work. I can’t look at FDL at work anymore.
Hey how are you?
Site seems to run well on my work comp. Running Internet Explorer from the XP era.
i’ve not used IE in years…. dumped it when i found firefox
Firefox for some, IE for others.
Hi Suzanne! How are you? Hey, my mouth is finally not aching…
I don’t run it at all at home, or on my laptops. I run Dolphin on my Android because firefox’s mobile browser is crap.
I downloaded firefox at work a few months ago and within two days had a terrible virus on my comp. Took about 3 days for the IS guys to figure it out. So I’ve suffering through IE now, because they don’t trust the firefox.
does that mean you are about to have more work done? i’m still in ‘wait and worry’ mode…. the new moon is saturday — maybe jen will go into labor then…
Just us 4 lonely travelers this evening, apparently.
i can’t follow any site on my cell phone’s browser. dayam screen is so small and there is no way to bump up the font size for my old eyes.
my experience with ff is that is is less prone to virus malware etc due to not that active x thingie
What kind of phone do you have?
same as last night…. perhaps a lotta folk are on spring break or something…
Make that 5…
OOOOH, tell Jen that ten days after my due date, I plunked down my suitcase and told them to do a caesarean (did I spell that right?).
an lg vue but its 2 years old and i’m going to get a new one. stephanie (my youngest) said there is a samsung that has a qwerty keyboard that i might like — i don’t like this touchscreen on the lg and really only use it online when i have no other choice. sucks to try to read email on it for sure
Excellent, and welcome!
hey robert — how’s soPA tonight?
What provider are you with? I’m a cellphone expert :) I can recommend the best of the best.
Cold, damp,snow on the grass….
her doc said today that if she hasn’t delivered by her scheduled appt of the 14th (also her due date) that the doc was going to use that appt to make the arrangements to schedule jen for induction — prob around the 20th.
i still think she is gonna deliver before her due date
Hey robertarend! Our trivial back and forth…
att — they are the only ones who have a decent signal here on the coast. i had verizon until after i moved here and had to walk down to the end of the driveway to get a signal so i could make a call.
fork — no signs of spring?
Hmmmm. Breaking news on MSNBC. Obama just fired Tim Geither & Eric Holder.
MODNOTE: This is an April Fools Joke and is not true
Let’s hope so. Induction sucks big time. I delivered ten days late. Not by induction, just caesarean. Spell Check!
i really only use the cellphone for calls — i rarely text (usually is in response to a txt message) and don’t even use the camera in it. i just want a qwerty keyboard and a decent screen and not something that costs an arm and a leg
WHAT!!!
not april 1st here on the coast yet dood
doc said induction, not c-section (that avoids the whole spelling of that work)
Hello! :waves:
It was in the 80s today here in Reno. and the expected forecast is the same for tomorrow and then rain and snow mix over the weekend, and at least 20 degrees cooler. :( Probably just in time for my almost blooming apricot tree to flower out and get bit.
April Fool!
i hate april fools day *sigh*
It’s RA’s April Fool’s Surprise.
High everyone. And GW makes 6.
Edit out that I fell for it…. :( Boo! I actually would have liked that, I think. I did go check headlines, and not there. So came back to check again… and voila. You punk’d before the time! Sneaky!
hey pellora — wow — maybe its a setup for more snow… kinda like how colorado does it. maybe it will freeze the pollen on that tree?
Blaming that on FF is over the top, imo. And even if that actually happened, it was a very peculiar event, for which I have neither seen nor experienced myself.
I uninstalled FF4 because the drop down selection in the Google Search function does not work. No word completion with which you can highlight and complete the search. You have to type it out yourself. I heavily depend on that function. Worse, finding the path to complain is not easy. And I am experienced in using Bugzilla, their bug reporting form. However, they really don’t want stuff classified as bugs, it seems.
So I uninstalled it.
Good grief, I’m such a sucker. I must leave.
its a joke (i hate april fools day online)
Aloha, Suz and LLN pups…!
hey gw — didn’t see ya come in during all the heart attacks roberts joke caused
how ya doing tonight?
I wear old 70s button fly jeans all day April 1st just so I can laugh when the folks say, “Your zippers down, man.”
hey starbuck — how’s your side of the coast range tonight? i’ll put you in the no column on ff 4.0
ATT’s limited right now on good devices. They’re going to get lucky with their new T-Mobile inventory, though. The G2 from Google is wonderful. It’s an HTC phone with a slide-out full QWERT keyboard.
I own it, and absolutely love it.
They’ve also got the MyTouch phones from T-Mobile that run Android and have full keyboards.
That would be sweet if it were true…! ;-)
Induction does suck. Very hard contractions, compared to natural labor.
don’t leave because of his joke ce — you were not the only one who fell for it
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight?
those kinda things work better in person than online
not bad, thanks
i’m gonna have to go to the att store and see for myself what they have that has a qwerty
no, its not true — it was a joke by robert
I just used this feature when looking at phones for Suz.
As for the virus at work, I’m sure it wasn’t firefox’s fault. Like I said, I run it on all my home PCs and have never had a problem. My IS guys are just paranoid and I try to respect them when it comes to restrictions.
hey margot — how ya doing tonight? i was given pitocin (the drug used in inducing) to speed up my contractions with jen.
sucked big time. totally unnatural process compared to before. but, it did speed things up and i went from 3 to 10 in one hour
You must have missed me: I was down on the floor doing chest compressions til they all revived. They did all revive?
Absolutely. You really want to get something that feels right to you.
Also too, must. have. Android.
The Robert is so ashamed of himself….
I actually saw some Sun today…! ;-)
Naturally it’s back to rain again…!
hiya CE
As you stated, first 60 (actually, 63) this year. Very late and very wet up till now. But today, today….
hey CT
The new Droid Bionic has 512 MBs of RAM and a dual core processor.
GTFO. These aren’t phones anymore. They’re mini super-computers.
We loves you, you can pick your head up again.
sorry babe — i think ya got them all and the modnote about the joke in the comment should prevent any more for ya to work on
so …. how goes?
Try this: Tools –>Options–>General–>Advanced–>Accessability, then tick “Search for text when I start typing.” Something like that. Then Okay.
Can we please have some of your rain?
I fell for it too.
what gw said at 76
Aloha, PPD…!
hiya Margot
I am hoping that the tree is slower to open flowers than the temp drop to below freezing – that is expected night temps. If the flowers aren’t open, and not wet, then it might be that the flowers will be okay. Thing is – these last storms are hard on the flowering trees. First snaps like this one get my earlier blooming apricot, then the next later snap gets my nectarine. The cherry is usually just enough late to sneak by without getting frost bite. :fingerscrossed:
not me *sigh* it wasn’t raining but it was misty and foggy and damp here. at least the fucking wind died down
Hmm, I am intending on trying it again, but was going to wait until 4.0.1, or whatever they use for an update shows up.
I can try it on my XP computer. This one is Win7 64 bit.
and expensive
I did that and it was already checked. I sometimes did get suggestions, but highlighting it did not work either.
I’ve tried FF4 for my Mac – don’t much like it. I did keep FF3 though, so plan on deleting 4 this weekend (I have some stuff to do so will do it all at once for the most part).
I am hanging in there. Hope you’re well and warm.
Arrow down on the d-pad and tab over from your selection.
That works.
4 inches of fresh snow when I left Wasilla for work in Anchorage this morning. Just got back. It is all gone – the sun came out – and still light out at 9:40 p.m.
warmer but still damp — at least i hope i no longer have to worry about snow going over the summit on 6 (1500 ft) when i finally get the call to head to the hospital
I’m tired and my house is a huge mess. Been working on various activist activities. Testifying at the anti-fluoride hearing we finally got before the city health and human services committee, working on city council elections coming up, fighting nuclear in south Texas and working on our upcoming Homeowners Assoc elections to the board. Aak. Can I just stay home now and read and clean up the place?
Sorry Starbuck, i’m not a pro. The Mozilla help path is very difficult, I agree. Insanely so.
hey et — sounds like spring has spring — has the lake started to break up yet or is that still a ways off?
Hmmm. Wired has an article up claiming that since Internet Explorer 9 was released a week ago, Netscape has increased by 22 percent the number of users for its browser….
oh my — put your feet up and rest a big gw — you’ve been busy indeed!
So it was a pretty wild ride to work today, eh…?
And they slam you immediately – got no warm up time… I didn’t have either the C-section or the induced labor. Thankfullly. But know some women of both experiences. ugh. C-section easier, but recovery is slower.
I hope Jen goes natural soon!
Hi PPD
me too. ain’t no fun for sure.
anyone have any guesses when she might have her? new moon is sat nite — the full moon isn’t until 4/19 (past her due date).
happy lucky 100 pellora!!!
now that is a concept!! i’ll take two of those.
My wife was induced on our younger daughter. 17 hours later, after Kaiser realized my daughter’s head was outside my wife’s pelvic area, they decided to do a C-section. After my wife almost flat-lined. Good times.
Still a ways off – like early to mid May. You wouldn’t like to drive a motor home on it now, though.
ET Jr called me as I was driving home. He was at Mt. Shasta yesterday and today. Skiing in 70 degrees, going downhill – according to him – over 70 mph. Hard for me to imagine, as I was driving along at 67.
I don’t like the FF4 either…! They switched to bing from google and bing truly sux as a search engine…! IE9 is pretty nifty tho and runs google…! ;-)
Got stopped by three wrecks. Took almost two hours for the 50-minute drive.
Just checked XP. I did not uninstall that one and it doesn’t work there either. However, if I use the arrow key and hit Enter (not tab) it works.
I’ll go back and re-install.
ohmygoodness kris — why did they wait so long?
A recent chemical spill at a water treatment facility in Rock Island, Ill., required the assistance of an emergency relief crew decked in the very same type of hazmat suits being worn by workers at the Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear plant in Japan. Except instead of radiation, the leaked chemical at the water plant was actually hydrofluorosilicic acid, a chemical fluoride component commonly added to drinking supplies for the stated purpose of preventing cavities. This fluoride chemical is so hazardous that it actually began to burn through parking lot cement in Rock Island before emergency crews arrived on the scene.
I’ll have a C-section any old day. That was a piece of cake.
wow, synchronicity.
holy moly — is there a link for that robert?
I have a Droid X and love it! Kidlet3 just went to a HTC Thunderbolt. He likes it. Both Android. I like Android! Never a problem. The Thunderbolt is 4G ready for when it finally gets here. I have Verizon.
Wow, three wrecks…!
Who knows. It took them 15 hours just to assess the situation WRT baby’s position. She was face down (towards MrsKrisA’s spine) and her head was outside my wife’s pelvic bone on the front side. So when my wife would push down with contractions, baby would push up with her feet against wife’s back.
The Drs tried to push her back into place so she could be delivered vaginally, but she had her legs tucked up under her and was pushing back against my wife’s spine. No bueno.
Dr. actually went so far as to reach into my wife *gag* and grab baby’s legs while pushing her head back up and in from the outside. Still didn’t work. That’s when MrsKrisA’s blood pressure dropped precipitously and they lost her heartbeat for a bit.
Then they took two hours to get her into the OR. Terrible experience for all of us.
Do they still say that you have to have more c-sections if you’ve had one?
IE9 also is running current icc color management, which FF$ does not. However, at least in Wn7, IE9 does not engage the monitor profile and leaves it to some generic profile. Bad especially if you are using a monitor with a large color gamut. Candy cane color!
Ugh!
http://www.naturalnews.com/031892_fluoride_corrosive.html
T-mobile’s 4g is live where I live, and I’ve got a 4g phone. It rawks. Soo damn fast.
jeebus… i had stephanie at kaiser hayward — thank goodness she was uncomplicated. i just don’t understand why it took another 2 hours to do the forking csection
that’s the very chemical that goes into our water. ours is toxic hazardous waste from fertilizer manufacturing in florida. do you have a link for that? i’d love to share it with our city council.
hey gw — you see robert’s link? wow, jaw dropping fucking wow
This was at Kaiser Hayward. I was born there, too.
I never got an explanation on the C-section.
All of the nightmare described above happened, of course, after the epidural tech missed the injection spot and shot the test dose directly into my wife’s spinal fluid, causing immediate paralysis in her legs.
They have some counter-drug on standby in case that happens, and he shot her up with that immediately.
The whole experience was terrible. And we were both so young. It was terrifying.
jeebus.. i had steph there in 88. was a much more ‘medical’ birth than when i had jen with midwives at sf general in 77. still, dayam dood…
What a horrible experience. So sorry. Glad all worked out.
My first was “sunny side up” as that is called when they are faced wrong direction even though head down. I pushed for quite a while. A more experienced nurse used me to teach my original younger nurse about this problem. Eventually after Doc there, they used salad tongs to push him back in (he was fully crowned) and turn him and he shot out like a rocket! Quite the cone head! Before there was a teevee family of coneheads! ; )
But your experience – simply awful. wow.
I wish all women good pregnancies and good deliveries. All of mine were quite easy and I usually tell worried pregnant women my stories just to ease their worry – it sure does seem that women with bad stories always tell other pregnant women their bad stories… That makes me mad. So I often try to tell my good stories.
They say that 4G should be ready here in Reno by this summer.
I’m not sure. I remember some docs would let you try a vaginal delivery, others would not. It has been years now so I’m not up on the latest info.
i had jen totally natural with midwives and, in thanks, the very first thing she did after she was born and placed up on my tummy was to pee on me.
the midwives and my family cracked up and said it was a sign of things to come…
See comment #120…
Our first, when we were only 17 *gasp!* was amazing. MrsKrisA slept through two of the 3 and a half hours of labor.
wow, what huge differences between them — and the old wives say that the first birth is the hardest…
When I was born I wasn’t breathing :(
Seems I was full of shit. Or at least my throat was. My own.
A brave and heroic nurse, who I’ve never been able to track down, actual put her mouth over my mouth and nose and sucked the shit out. Saved my life.
*heh* Golden showers, babee…! ;-)
nurses are so underappreciated. wow, what a great story dood
Well Lexi, our first, was 9 lbs 7 oz.
Charlotte, the problem child, was 10 – 12. She was big, even at two weeks early. And my wife is small, just 5’3. It was tough.
Three sets of wrecks. People forget how to drive on ice here in three weeks.
I remember being born.
Really? Or is this more April Fool’s?
i’ve been able — so far — to resist reminding jen of that story. have been holding back since she is so close. am just wondering if julianna is going to treat her mother the way jen treated me immediately after birth.
I’ve heard of that too. My third had swallowed his shit and lots of water too. But it wasn’t really bad. He wouldn’t eat, was urpy and stuff. They had to pump his stomach – took out 9 oz of water plus uck. I was told we were lucky. I believe it.
Nope. Done with April Foolin’ for the night. I do remember, and I was not happy about the whole thing….
+1 LOL LOL
jen was 5/15 and steph was 9/10. they were both 6 days early. both times, i was told that i had a great pelvis for birthing babies (whatever that means). what i found interesting was that both of them had the exact same head measurement, despite the differences in their weight.
Alright folks, the now infamous MrsKrisA is home from work.
Time for me to head out.
Nite all!
yes, i’ve just been reading the article and watching the tv footage and sending the links to my fluoride free group. it’s maddening that they put this garbage in our water.
because we love you, we will never let ya forget it :)
we’ve all done something here that didn’t go over as we had hoped or planned… tis just part of being in the fdl family at lln
working on my last post of the month at my place. I may be the only person on the web who had to apologize to Jane Hamsher and Pamela Geller on the same day.
g’nite kris
I’m tired. And am nearly all better, so I’m going to head off to bed. See y’all tomorrow.
Have a good Friday! TTFN and TGIF !
oh my
g’nite pellora
good night Suz.
I was referring to my memory of being born.
oh snap
Why would you apologize to Pam Geller…? 8-(
hehX2 squared
I liked where I had been. It was warm.
you’ll see
Alaska HB88. Here’s what her blog wrote about her testimony.
And my mother wasn’t thrilled, either. After birthing 2 boys, she wanted a girl…
Just re-installed FF4. Sure enough, I can only arrow down and hit enter for Google search to work. Just highlighting with the mouse and hitting enter doesn’t work either.
At any rate, FF4 is quick.
i could have found out if steph was a girl or a boy because of the amniocentesis i had but i didn’t want to know. i was afraid she was a boy and i wanted a girl and i didn’t want to spend the last part of my last pregnancy being disappointed. i was totally surprised that she was a she when i had her.
I have memories of my birth too. I was C-Section as the cord was wrapped around my neck a couple of times. I didn’t want to come out either. I’m still not sure it was a good idea.
And why to Jane? Your check bounce or something?
No way of telling back then. Just if she was carrying high or low. Mom got a daughter the next year, though.
Did she ever get a girl? I had two different cousins who each had 5 boys before they finally got a girl and could stop having babies.
I know what you mean. It’s just the bs we all got to do to please all them bored folks on the other side.
We’re their entertainment….
my earliest memory is when i was around 2 and a half or 3.
wow, that was a long hiccup!
I thought it was just me!
/lurking
hey ll — tis a puzzlement but i’m glad we are back up. how ya doing tonight?
Last Minute Good Morning Suz,
FDL wouldn’t let me visit for about 40 minutes after I got a server reset message.
Doing okay thanks, wide awake though *blinking* I was up at 0600 Thursday for an early appt, then took an extra-long nap in the afternoon, so here I am…how’s by you?
hey nonq — yeah, the tech crew wasn’t happy but we are all smiling now that we are back up.
how ya doing tonight?
tis that nap that gotcha ll — i’m doing ok… still waiting for ‘the call’…
had email from gw while we were down asking that i say g’nite for her
I sure didn’t mean to sleep as long as I did — laid down around 1530 and woke up around 1930, yikes! Guess I needed it though. Thinking I may as well just stay up now…
Hope that happy news call comes soon, Grandma! ;-)
*waving g’nite to gw*
OK and except for tonight, have been trying to get a more normal sleep pattern set up.
Just needed to check in to see how the almost a grandmother was doing. Was catching up on the comments earlier when the site wouldn’t reload.
I’m still predicting Tuesday April 5.
when i’m trying to reset my sleep clock, naps are a big no no for me
nonq, if you re-establish a normal sleep pattern please give me some tips! Only half-kidding; my sleep has been messed up for about 2 months now.
this tuesday would be a good day :) i’m thinking sat with the new moon but then i may just be grasping at straws
Lately I haven’t been taking too many naps, not like I used to, for the same reasons — today the sleep monster just grabbed me ;-)
Getting outside during the day and engaging in some heavier than normal physical activity has been the trick. Dealing with some inappropriate behavior by the teen has worn me out a bit too. Trying to get the docs to explain why my mom’s meds are making her appear simply drugged is a bit distressing but stick with the first suggestion on the sleep thing.
dayam nonq — that’s a full plate ya got
What Suz said. Sorry you’re having to deal with all of that, it must be quite distressing :-(
Suz, is Jen feeling any better this week, or about the same? Just ready to go?
just the same. not as many braxton hicks contractions this week and her doc didn’t see much change today over last week’s appt. jen’s ready. julianna’s not.
Like Tom Petty once said, “the waiting is the hardest part”
Just kinda have to grin and get along, there is not a lot that can be done immediately about either situation. Teen has lost privileges with electronics use until school grades improve, Mom’s dementia is better or worse from day to day, but trying to get them to explain changing a med because she is, “more agitated,” and they don’t have good answers. I am polite but I don’t think they are used to someone questioning them so explicitly and not just saying OK to whatever they think they need to do.
tom spoke truth!
Just an aside — I wish I could fall asleep as fast as my cat does. A minute ago she was right at my feet, under the desk, pawing at my leg; I just turned around and she’s all curled up on “her” chair and appears to be out like a light.
Good night and sleep tight. Getting too near sunrise here. Time for a couple winks.
g’nite nonq
The Waiting
g’nite, sleep well!
tis a great tune ll
tis about time i turn back into a pumpkin folks. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight — and for returning after the hiccup.
g’nite all — hope to see ya tomorrow for muppets friday
omg, this song came out in ’81?! shit…still sounds great though.
Good night Suz and rest well, keep that phone close by! Hope to see you tomorrow night.
yay me, I got the 200!
Suze! Pups!
Home from work …
my 2¢ … when i have persistent trouble with sleep, it’s usually because my thyroid levels are off again.
i keep checking in to see if grandma-to-be has turned into a gen-u-wine granny. I think she might be early too, i think she’s eager to show up and enjoy her family.
hi ndfg, I should probably have my levels checked; it’s been almost a year. I’m all whacked out on antidepressants, and being off work since mid-February, and that’s part of my sleep problems…
I was in the audience at this SRV performance of Austin City Limits. It was awesome.
facebook comments
hey hosemore — wow how forking cool! not seeing srv is one of my regrets
