Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys — Sitting On Top Of The World.
What’s on your mind?
*tap tap tap*
is this thing on?
What a great song. I’ve always loved the sound they create, and that special little Bob Wills “Ah Haaa.”
hey margot — how ya doing tonight? glad ya like it — it reminds me of a mellow yet funky fusion of jazz, blues, country and western :)
Suz!
hey newton — how’s the west bay tonight?
faded love
It’s sweet here. We’re still getting some wet weather, though nothing like the last few weeks of torrential downpours. Spring has arrived.
You still freezing up there?
How do you like this one:
Jeff Healey
yep — still hasn’t hit 60 in portland and its the wettest march (almost double the normal rainfall) since 1955. it has rained 29 out of 30 days… and the wind has blown for 3 days now — usually between 10 and 20 mph. haven’t had a sunset to photograph in weeks
oh i like that
and i like this one too
It snowed today here, not much and not really cold. Just nature’s little surprise…
snow? *brrrr* taking back my whine about the wet and windy
Cream is who I think of when I think of this song. I know they didn’t write it but I heard their version first.
cream is who i think of too but per wiki:
Thank you! It was driving me crazy trying to recall where I first heard this.
Hi, Suz & Pups. Just checking in. Got my dad resettled in Santa Barbara. Wonderful! My daughter’s stepson & wife just had their first child. I’m a great-granny! And the twin baby boys are a hoot and a half. Life is good …. as long as I avoid politics!
hey dearie — congrats on being a great granny — although i always thought you were great :) what did they have?
…Mississippi Sheiks…
What a cool name for the ’30s…! ;-)
Aloha, Suz and LLN pups…!
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight?
evening,Suzzzz – firegods
hey ppd — how was your day?
My step-grandson (my grandson!) and his wife had a baby boy named Rocco. The little twins are now uncles at 2 and a half years old. Life is so amusing. And we are great incorporators.
Welcome to the club!
i have an aunt that is a month and 3 days older than me… i’m still on ‘any day now’ mode. jen has her weekly apt with the doc tomorrow — she was 1 cm dilated last week and has been having braxton-hicks contractions. i’m thinking she will be 2+ cm tomorrow.
hey starbuck — how’s your side of the coast range tonight?
Dangit my headphones crapped out. Come to think of it i aint sure how many decades i have had them. But that vid was worth a chuckle. And i am sittin on top of the world.
hey homeroid — you certainly are :) how’s homer tonight?
Oh I can just hear them later in life: “You have to obey us! We’re your uncles!” what a hoot.
Little boys are so adorable. They wanted to do potty practice. One of ‘em hit the potty just fine and then turned to me and said, “More, Grammy.” I said, “Well, honey, it doesn’t work that way. Do you want to drink some more water?” “Yes, water.” I got him a cup of water, which he immediately tossed into the pot….and wanted more. It will be a while…………
pretty good, thanks Suzzz – how’s everything up north tonight?
(laughing) oh dear
do your twin grandbabies have their own conversations in their own language like these two do?
wet and windy but its not snowing
hiya CT, margot
weather cleared and warmed up this week by the bay
What fun!
the weather dood said that it is supposed to warm up here next week. i’ll believe it when i see it :)
Hi Suz. Dry today for the most part.
Still snowing in the mountains. Mt Hood, 142″. Up on the Steens 109″.
That’s supposed to be desert!
hiya PPD, good to see you
Oh all’s swell an honky dory. Thought i had some ear buds in the junk drawer. All i could find was junk. I need tunes for my late nite. Mrs Oid needs sleep. guess i will say by all and go for a late walk.
Aloha, PPD…! More rain and ever more rain here…! Pretty soon I’ll be growing webbing between my fingers and toes…! ;-)
wow — i heard about how ca had huge #’s up in the sierras, enough for them to declare the drought over, but didn’t realize hood and the steens got that much too. wow.
“Ah Haaa.”
(Lock away the whiskey, the guns, and your heart)
*waves to all*
dang, first the headphones and now no buds :( g’nite homer — hope you find your buds soon
hey aitch — how was your day?
Suz, you are going to have so much fun as a grammy. I had the boys for 7 hours last weekend, and, wow, I was exhausted but amused. I’m a twin, myself, and I had a new respect for my own mom. They are great, but two is challenging!
How did you know that’s what the walk entails.
i didn’t. i was just wishing you luck at finding them soon.
great song!
feel lucky

hiya CT — if you have time, check out tonight’s PBS Nova special on Japan’s earthquake & tsunami
*heh* I’ll puff to that…! ;-)
i saw it and it was amazing…
Hey Suzanne! Fine day, spent at this lake during the chill & rain out there. Just was listening & watching your Cream reunion link. O how I loved Cream and ever shall…
You doing okay?
ca
Rest up and stay ready, Suzanne. Fun times ahead. And I’m out………..
i yam — will spend tomorrow afternoon waiting for jen’s call after her doc apt — tis also the day when she gets her new size descriptor — this one for week 38. i hope its not another forking melon
will do — g’nite dearier
Suzzz — California is way behind the curve in earthquake standards & preparation compared with Japan.
mississippi sheiks
*heh* It’s gotta be a Watermelon by now…! ;-)
so is oregon — that last segment about the cascadia subduction zone was very frightening — that and oregon state university had their guy in japan to study their quake to see how it applied to oregon… spooky
do you ever talk to Jen’s doc? Or is that old-fashioned and just not done since everyone’s all, they’re all like cool?
or a pumpkin…. either one — tis forking cruel to put the idea of birthing a forking watermelon or pumpkin into a woman’s mind when she is so close to her delivery date.
I was thinking about you and your family during that part of the program — not good news for Washington coast, islands & Puget Sound either.
her husband goes with her to all her appointments – i’m 2 hours way so its not been realistic to talk to jen about my attending one of her appts. i’ll meet her doc the old fashioned way, when jen’s at the hospital.
while watching it, i wondered if a tsunami wave could come so far up the columbia that it would damage portland… i know the folks here during the tsunami watch from the japan quake were quick to point out that it would not — but what about when cascadia lets go?
and how far down the california coast would be impacted by a cascadia tsunami…
I know i’d be sent packing again too…! 8-(
that was an important factor in NE Japan — the physical geographic of the coastal areas concentrating the tsunami’s effect, exacerbated by a full meter of land subsidence.
i wouldn’t have time to pack for sure… just enough time to grab the critters and my meds bag and head up cape lookout to the 800′ level…
My house is 300′ above sea level.
The airport: 30′
The airport height surprises me, so yeas Portland in parts could be affected. Of course, the earthquake itself….
That would be a beautiful place to watch the surge. You could look both north and south.
the tsunami would cause damage that far inland? i know the quake would but i didn’t realize a tsunami would cause damage 95 miles inland
What was the height again…? 33 ft wall of water was the last I’d heard and had traveled 2 clicks inland in some parts…!
I don’t know the physics of it so I don’t know. My gut is that the wave would be dragging the bottom of the riverbed and scour it out, the energy dissipating.
there was a town shown in tonights show that is inland some 8 miles and up in the mts and it still has water from the tsunami.. their water arrived with the second wave and by morning, the town was flooded (but not as bad as the coastal towns)
Watch the Nova program tonight — should air 9 pm your time on PBS — some areas miles inland had 50 foot surging water because of the physical geography — cars deposited atop multi story buildings, etc.
Amazing.
Dayam…!
watch the show dood… amazing footage with scientists explaining it
here’s the pbs link
We’d have a decent warning interval here if the Cascadia fault ruptured, Suzzz — but Castroville is right at sea level. A major wave would cover everything all the way to Salinas. Monterey & Seaside could be devastated, too.
Thanks, Suz…! I’m trying to convince the better half to watch it, I have about 15 mins to do so…! ;-)
It’s only a preview. I looked at it. The preview is wild itself!
i’m sure once it airs everywhere, the video will be in the pbs library so folks can watch online
They will sell you the DVD, if you want.
and then there is los angeles and the ports there and in san diego…. just how far down the coast would be damaged?
CT — tell her the Hawaii tsunami warning center is featured in the program — a little bit of March Madness — let’s root for the home team!
computer analysis of japan’s data may improve tsunami modelling and better answer those questions.
Do you know that there’s an Iphone/Playstation PSP in the pipeline…? My son just pointed it out in his latest mag…! *gah*
Did everyone catch Jon Stewart’s I Give Up segment on GE?
i hope there are lessons learned out of this tragedy — and that those lessons are applied — but given our political climate… i don’t think they will be
i caught some of it but not all — will have to watch the rerun at 0130
you don’t have to wait, Suzzz — just click the vid at this link

are we gonna hit 100 tonight?
sweet.. thanks dood
why not, we’re firegods, aren’t we?
Oh noes… NOVA is funded by David Koch…? Wtf…?
in part… tis part of his trying to buy a good name for himself…
The whole world is funded by Koch!
congrats on the lucky happy 100 starbuck!!!
And I agree — nothing will change the current trajectory. Obama thinks he was elected to keep Cheney, Rumsfeld, Bush, etal. out of prison for war crimes. So Obama worships Reagan in a world that demands TR and FDR.
Thanks!
I never hit 100!!
/s
night all – be well
Some of TR, but not all.
g’nite ppd
iirc, you tend to miss it by one :) well done dood
*heh* Because Suz normally nails ‘em…! ;-)
Just being snarky. I did 100 then 200 in the same thread!
You gotta be quick with the finger!
the double double! that was the night to play the lotto
grrrrr
Well, I shall enjoy Koch’s money now…! ;-) I shall bid ya’ll a fond adieu…!
Aloha Oe…!
‘cept it was too late!
I’ve been up since 5:30, so I am off to bed. If I try to wait for 200, I’ll be asleep at the swithch….
g’nite tut
g’nite starbuck
guess it is time for me to turn into a pumpkin myself. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight.
g’nite all
Suz. different budz. Nice walk.
