Ian Murphy for Congress.
Dear Guy Cecil–you’re in my email inbox this morning…message source in my email tells me that you’re at the dscc.org. Yet your name and subject line sounds just like the viagra spam and porn spam my junk filter catches.
No…I didn’t open your email.
I don’t know if I should laugh or cry. Primary dispersal offsite is through the air, not the ground.
Boxturtle (Shades of corexit?)
Shades of the BP disaster, but more deadly.
Thanks for the linkfest, BT.
Santorum for President. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. What a riot. Almost as funny as Newty.
At the Rick Santorum link, I also found out from Tea Party favorite Marco Rubio that the national debt is the central economic issue of our time and America faces the very real danger of a catastrophic economic crisis. He also said demagoguery is the last refuge of the spineless. So there.
Marco is raising his profile because this is so serious.
Meanwhile, 30 year Treasury bonds are yielding ~4.54%, 10 year notes are yielding ~3.49%, and 7 year notes are yielding ~2.91%.

Do not open Vista Security either, it blocks FDL.
I will stick an ice pick through my head before I listen to Marco Rubio or gvandergrift on matters economic.
The central economic issue of our time is the fact that fucking idiot/thief/conmen like Marco fucking Rubio have a national voice.
Mornin’, BT, pups
From the WaPo Business piece on housing prices:
Figure in brackets mine.
That’s picking at nits. They’ll manipulate the figures any way they can to avoid saying we’re in a double dip. Newsflash: we’re there already, morons.
It’s my party, and I’ll cry if I want to.
Maybe people don’t buy houses in January.
Most of the houses we’re seeing sold are short sales from banks.
x2
I’ve been awake 4.5 hours but I clearly didn’t get up early enough to fool you.
Morning BT & Firepups:
Did I happen to mention that Eric Cantor needs to put a sock in it?
I got yelled at by 3 clients yesterday because I don’t speak Spanish, so I went to the front desk to sign up. They told me I needed proof of my unemployment to take the class. Huh? How does one prove they are unemployed? Weird.
There ya go again with all that fancy new math stuff…
Um. Those socks are too clean.
Those figures are normally “seasonally adjusted”.
I’m seeing mostly short sales here as well. With the occasional BIG loss. Neighbor took a $30K hit on a $150K house just to get out of it. Somebody got themselves a real deal, as the neighbor get that house three years ago or so for $10K less than was originally paid.
And I live in a good neighborhood.
Boxturtle (Some of the vacancies still have no for sale sign posted)
I apologize. Best I could do on short notice.
Don’t you remember a month or so ago, the WH floating the fact that we need to move on from focusing on the recession and unemployment? We need to spin for the next couple of years to get Obama re-elected.
So now we have Libya to worry about, or rather how noble Obama was in putting us in the middle of their civil war. We own it now no matter how much we might try to push it off to NATO, this was Obama’s doing and just like with Iraq, if you break it, you buy it.
Why can’t a single politician be on the side of the people and push the policies that benefit them? Why are they all so slimy that you regret voting for them 10 minutes after you walk out of the voting booth.
Makes me sick.
O/T: Go read Olbermann’s Cornell speech from yesterday.
The Cornell Speech
The troll’s got software that recognizes his name in comments. Now that’s an ego.
Here ya go.
KO:
Good morning all.
Possibly I just read quickly.
Good catch. KO can turn a keyboard…
Me too, BoxTurtle….I live in a nice neighborhood of villas (called “patio homes” in some areas) a couple of miles from Notre Dame, and there have been times over the 7+ years I’ve been here that there have been NO homes for sale in this complex. At the moment there are 7 listings, plus two that aren’t listed but will be soon (deceased owners). A couple have been on the market for more than 3 years, the most recent listing is 6 months old. One (that I know of) is a short sale.
We have an older couple who had their house listed at $160K. A couple made an offer of $120K and it was accepted. The sellers just wanted to sell the place and get out of Florida.
He’s even better now that he’s freed from MSNBC. (And yes, he can be pretty “over the top” sometimes.) He’s even begun putting up videos of special comments and “worst persons” segments that are similar to Countdown days. Clearly he’s not going away quietly.
Hey Wingnuts. Here’s what I’ve got to say about your cockamamie “policy” bullshit…
So What?
As some of you know, I live in a manufactured housing community. There are about four or five houses for sale on each street. None are selling.
Rick Santorum’s comment about having 7 kids reminded me of Mary Mc’s clown car comment from years ago.
That’s all part of the Master Plan of Economic Recovery….
good morning…. if one diary whore per day is still allowed, here’s myfld diary from last night, “Why Paul Krugman, and we, need to take MMT economists seriously.” (and also just now cross posted at the great orange satan).
definitely on topic for BT’s third link.
Guess it’s too late to sterilize him so his genes can’t be passed on… Shit.
yikes!
I can see why they would, with “Scottdemort” and Rubio and what they’re doing to the state. Unfortunately I suspect a lot of the retirees in Florida are stuck and can’t afford to get out.
I bought my home at a reasonable price (NOT overpriced) and although I’ve made improvements, I won’t be able to sell for even what I paid, much less cover the cost of the improvements.
hey oldnslow ! are you still about ???
Mornin’ All
and yet we are told we don’t have the resources to keep our senior citizens housed instead of on the street?
Our little town was one of the fastest growing in the country a few years ago. Now is among the highest foreclosure rates in the country. Many, many houses stand empty and have no for sale signs. Very disturbing.
Isn’t Santorum saying 1/3 of all US pregnancies end in abortion? Doesn’t that sound kida high?
Repeat Mary Mc’s comment, please.
Heh, KO describing the rich as the “other”.
Here.
There’s a Master Plan?
And here I thought this country was being run by a bunch of super-rich, super-self-interested, super-short-sighted, super-big-piece-of-the-ever-dwindling-pie grabbing morons whose individual plans amount to nothing more than taking each day as much of whatever isn’t nailed down as they can.
Just kidding.
I know that the MOTU have a Master Plan. I just wish it weren’t such a shitty plan.
She said “It’s a pussy, not a clown car.”
Thanks. I’ll have to read it in its entirety and the links at lunch.
(just waving good morning)
you haz phone ?
Where’s Margaret? I want a birthday hug.
Great contribution. It’s so typical for economists to fiddle while Rome burns.
Happy Birthday ((((demi))))
howdy! ***waving back***
closet shelf
One of the houses near me is a foreclosure sale. Owner basically just walked away and told the bank it was theirs. He was a gentleman about it, cooperated with the bank and the courts, signed all the papers and handed over the keys.
The bank has a buyer. I’ve met them, nice people despite being bank “VP’s”.
They cannot get title insurance on the house. So no sale yet.
Boxturtle (Even when there are willing buyers….)
Woo Hoo. Thanks.
Today’s your birthday?!
Happy Your Day!! (((demi)))
You two crack me up.
There’s a difference between creating an “other” (what the rich have done because they just aren’t rich enough and need more money) and describing a situation created by others (what KO has done because, well, the rich have created this situation in order to steal from the American people).
Meanwhile, I’m surprised KO is still calling the US “the greatest nation on earth.”
Disturbing and sad. And people with the means to purchase aren’t going to want to buy in a neighborhood with lots of vacant homes, so it’s a self-perpetuating problem with no obvious end in sight. Even if the economy picks up, how quickly will the glut of homes for sale be reduced?
Related to homes, another disturbing item to consider:
The 10 most segregated urban areas in America
I’ve lived in two of them.
Can I wish for world peace today?
Yeah, cognitive dissonance.
But for someone in his position, he has been tireless in sticking up for the unfortunate. He used Countdown to raise funds to support free medical clinics, for example, and donated his own funds.
Happy Happy Birthday honey !
Thanks. Gonna give myself a facial and go out to get my hair trimmed. I’m certain that should take off a few years. s/
Off to pick up Feurae from the vet then off to swim in the great capitalist cesspool.

Absolutely.
The salon where I get hair services has been in business at the same location for 16 years. The economy has taken its toll, and the owner was having trouble making mortgage payments that were no problem when business was good. She tried repeatedly to get the bank to work with her, and they refused. So she is simply walking away from it, moving to a smaller place in a strip mall with rent a fraction of her mortgage payment. The bank simply would not help, even though she had been a good customer who always paid on time.
happy bird day (two ewes)!
How are you going to celebrate the big three oh?
Never mind: just saw it.
thanks!
Sure, you can wish….
Boxturtle (hands Demi a plate of whirled peas)
Was Feurae’s problem what you’d thought (crystals in the urine)?
Gruppenfuhrer Santorum declaims ze country needs more births to fund endless war, with their taxes and their blood.
Populace shrugs and rolls its eyes.
:) Will read your diary in a bit. Thanks for being here. YOU!
Yo Firepups: Maddow was on fire in the first segment last night. Dig it…
Happy, Happy Birthday, miss demi!
should be a helluva birthday bash, our cameras went behind the scenes at the caterer for the planning session :D
xoxoxox
hey,was trying to get that damn cobra to send you wishes, but she has ‘people’ now, and none of them would return my calls X~o
I want to eat my cake and have it too. See how I am?
Oh, my gosh. That’s a hoot.
I admire Rachel but — hate to say it — just can’t watch anymore.
Too much enabling of Obama.
Referring to your efforts to learn Spanish- “Feliz cupleanos”
I had to look it up.
Have a Happy Birthday.
I reached that point a long while ago.
Stopped watching TRMS because, while it’s entertaining to watch her rant on about the rightwing crazies, ranting on about the rightwing crazies while Obama and Congressional Democrats are selling us all out is a waste of time at best.
And, at a certain point, it stops being entertaining and just starts getting frustrating and annoying.
KO did it, too. I’m hoping that he’ll be freer to say what he really thinks now that he’s been liberated from MSNBC.
Dead right. Consumer confidence took a deep dive last month. This is what happens when you have 10-odd percent of people out of work and looking, and another 5 percent who have just given up working. And suppose people actually start to believe that their SS is going to be cut in the future? What would they do? Save like crazy. We are in another home-grown downward spiral. It’s hard to fight an economic depression when you’ve got both hands tied behind your back.
Um…No. Marco is raising his profile because he’s a mindless, hyper-ambitious, ladder-climbing, shithead.
Just wanted to clear that up for you. No thanks required. I’m just here to help…
Happy Birthday, demi! Have a great day!!
I’ve been house-hunting in SoCal, and there’s LOTS of short-sales going on. Some of the houses are worth consideration, but many are huge dumps bc the owners clearly never really took care of them. One house I saw would’ve been really great except it would take at least $100K to bring it up to code. The bank wants waaaaay more than it’s worth.
Sad to say that the owner bought this house 20 years ago for a very low price. Then re-fi’ed for $600k some years ago back in the boom & spent that on??? who knows? Certainly didn’t spend it on the house, and that’s for sure.
Hate to admit that I’m, like, 2d degrees of Kevin Bacon from the Frothy Mixture… ick my sibling LOVES Santorum & socializes with him & his family & donates to his campaigns. So there ya go. Do I deserve congratulations for turning out to be the “normal” one in my crazed family or what?
I will grant that she’s a Prez enabler. However, she is also very good at turning wingnut..um..wingnuttiness on its head, which is what this segment was about. In fact, the piece should be circulated among anyone of the wingnut persuasion with whom you might happen to cross paths.
As a general matter, I tend to watch the opening segment (which is often quite thoughtful), and then tune out. I can always cherry-pick the good clips after the fact.
Hey Demi! I apologize for not recognizing your Big Day. Happy Birthday.
As Sheriff John would have stated it: “Well have some pie and sandwichs, and chocolate ice cream too. We’ll sing and play the day away…”
Nope, looks like the very beginning of UTI. He’d been treated for it once in the past before I adopted him.
The Santorum article has:
Potential 2012 presidential candidate Rick Santorum said the “abortion culture” in America is to blame for the failing Social Security system.
Great research by the author, CNN Associate Producer Gabriella Schwarz. Since when it is a given that Social Security is “failing”? Sez who – oh, I guess the genius, Rick Santorum said so, so, you know – if a stupid right-wing mofo says it’s failing, well, who is CNN to question it? At least put it in quotation marks.
What Santorum says is so blindingly stupid I can’t even comment.
I should have known not to try and edit.
But believe me, Santorum fans bow and adulate at his feet and agree with his every dulcet “pearl” of stupidity & irresponible lies… more’s the pity. So whyever should CNN, you know, “act” like a *responsible* real-news organization and, eh I dunno, do some research (too expensive for the corporation to “waste” their $$$ on useless stuff like research) or behave like real journalists and put Frothy Mixture’s bloviating lies in “quotes.”
thank you, demi!
and hope you have a great one today….
