Kelly Clarkson – My Life Would Suck Without You
My life would definitely suck without the Lake…! *g*
What’s on your mind tonite…?
Hey! Hi Tuttle! You old almost grandpa you!
I had to go look at your last night’s LLN. :lol:
I used cloth diapers for first two, disposable mostly for third. Cloth was rare by then. I still have some!
My all-time favorite Bugs Bunny, The Rabbit of Seville
How about a nice close shave
Teach your whiskers to behave
Lots of lather lots of soap
Please hold still don’t be a dope
Now we’re ready for the scrapin’
There’s no use to try escapin’
Yell and scream and rant and rave
There’s no use you need a shaave!
Aloha, Pel…! that was a quick edit….! ;-)
Well, CT, this CNN Money article has been on my mind most of this evening:
Aloha, 4cdave…! How’s your neck of the woods…?
Ain’t it sad…! 8-(
On this day in whatever, The U.S. Senate passed $100 million aid package for the Nicaraguan contras.
PBS is showing O’bomber’s speech again, Ya know that; ‘Ghaddafi hung people in the streets’… Sounds an awful lot like ‘Saddam gassed people in the streets’…! *gah*
Starting to look up. The sun was actually out for an ENTIRE DAY today. This might be a first since November.
F*ck me running…! 8-(
Aloha, btw, newt…! ;-)
Big rain drops are falling here as I type…! Soggy day, with more all week on tap…!
I watched it live against my better judgment. There will not be a second.
I never thought another president would put me off my dinner the way George W. Bush did, but…
This is just ridiculous.
So, the one women reported on in that article claims to have 50 interns working for her for nothing, and predicts this is the wave of the future–10 years from now–where unpaid workers are the rule….
On a sad note, did you see that Joe Bagaent passed away? Good writer. Lots of his essays at his website. The top post is a bit of a eulogy, with this:
Joe described himself as a redneck socialist, and he was. He was profoundly concerned with the fate of the people he wrote about, those who worked hard all their lives and ended up with nothing. Funny: I’ve never met a socialist who didn’t care about others, or a capitalist who did.
You guys are bringing ucky news in…. :-(
Quick, that’s me! ;-)
I saw as I hit submit so was waiting for edit to show up. Dang! Takes so long when you’re waiting. I was hoping you didn’t see me not paying enough attention. Sorry.
Three four greats at one time!
O’bomber needs to mail his Nobel Peace prize back to Oslo…! 8-(
Dude, it’s different ’cause it’s not the Muslims in the Middle East he’s dropping Tomahawk Cruise missiles on – it’s the Muslims in North Africa.
The PTB’s had best invest in bolstering the welfare system if they want an unpaid workforce…! *gah*
So that’s Kelly Clarkson! Kept hearing her name, now I know I can keep on ignoring her. Evening FDLers!
Next stop Jakarta…? Those Muslims in Indonesia do have a bunch of oil too…! ;-)
Aloha, VMT…! It’s been awhile…! ;-)
What a great clip that was. Thanks.
Just havin’ fun with ya, CTuttle. I love Kelly!
The cultural and religious significance of the West doing this yet again is lost on too many people. We may be the least historically schooled culture ever.
I can see why it’s stayed on your mind.
I think the woman who used 50 unpaid interns was violating the law big-time. Like the labor lawyers quoted later in the piece say, we don’t really allow unpaid work. Internships have been skirting the law in recent years, but just calling work that doesn’t primarily benefit the “intern” internships doesn’t cut it.
Of course, Congress can/will defund enforcement of the rules, making unpaid work the new normal after all./s
evening, CT — firegods
History is but one subject, we also are bombing in the three R’s too…! 8-(
Aloha, PPD…! ;-)
Aloha, tj…! Always a pleasure…!
I bought a pound of assorted Sees Candy today. Why? I don’t know. Cause it was there.
I haven’t checked Wonkette out in years, but firedoglake must be at least as hilarious. Great stuff.
Heck, that woman doesn’t even offer those desperate people a bologna sandwich. She’s living the Obligarchs’ wet-dream….
Aloha, CT – pardon my bad manners in neglecting to greet you, and all – that piece annoyed me so I just kinda jumped in. My bad.
This is my “favorite” quote in the whole article:
“It’s really hard as a single entrepreneur to babysit these people who need to learn. They’re not making any money, so you have to be very patient,” Green says.
No slight taken, M’dear…! ;-)
Such a sweetie.
Actually, for a “foul-mouthed femblog” this place has a lot of kind-hearted, sweet-natured folks.
I guess unpaid employees have nothing to lose if they take a walk. Good she has such patience.
How ’bout that 12-year-old college student/autistic math wiz who claims he will disprove Einstein’s relativity theory–and the Big Bang:
Hi CT & best wishes on your prides & joys!
You know, if there were a United Nations College Bowl, the US team might make the finals (not if I were on it, especially for making statements like that).
Giving all the late night pups a bit of the Runaround.
Off to bed for me. Good night all.
Aloha, AitchD…! Mahalo…! ;-)
When ever was the Big Bang proven or even proposed as a theory? I didn’t click the link cuz Huff isn’t deserving of my IP anymore.
To all: For the Official Record: CT earlier today got the first *g* from me I ever posted anywhere in my life*
*been on Usenet since 1996
Aloha and aloha, Mr Why…!
Feel the same about the ShysterPost, myself. But the piece was linked on FB, and I can’t resist a good math story….
Saw a tweet about that but didn’t read it – wasn’t sure it wasn’t snark.
Disprove the Big Bang? How? Oh, never mind, I wouldn’t understand anyway.
Anybody notice more windi-ness lately? It has sure been windy here, but then, it’s March.
Just came back from here: http://on.natgeo.com/eV7x5Y
Bridge Over Troubled Water…
Why the f*** is Luke Russert nattering away on my teebee? I tuned in to see Richard Engel – missed most of it the first time for Stewart/Colbert/MMoore.
Talk about born on 3rd base!
Astronomers, lying about on beaches and breeding like sand fleas…It’s a wonder decent folk can walk the streets anymore.
We got radioactive rain here in Pennsylvania….
I hate to be at all serious at LLN, but has anybody considered it is time to bring back the rent party?
If we’re all going to be unemployed, er, working for nothing, don’t know how else we’re going to pay rent/bills, etc.
darkblack, where have you been lately? (oh, I know, I haven’t been around that much). Nice to see ya, and your work.
I limped through calculus in college, and, said never again…! ;-)
Definitely. Gale force. Charlotte NC. March here usually comes in Feb. Oh, and there’s radioactive crap in the rain but Duke Energy says it’s nothing to be concerned about.
Peports came out today about landlords raising their rents. Some economists view that as a sign property values are about to go up again. I think it’s just because of the price of gas…
Real life has been trying to bury my slippery self, Tejanarusa…One of us has got to go.
CTuttle – how do you do your observatory work without advanced math? Perhaps I’ve been making assumptions, (well, guess I have), but aren’t you an astronomer or some such thing? Or do ya just take pretty night pictures up there on the mountain?
Geometry holds the secrets of all there is….
Oh, Real Life…bleeahh.
Sorry to hear that.
Probably due to the fact that you can no longer get a mortgage that’s cheaper than a rent payment. The days of “pick a payment” and refinance in five years are over.
Ohmyfuckinggawd – nowit’s Rand Paul (spit) on my teebee screen – [the Prez]
is not a king…whatever I think about the Libya issue, it’s the Republican class of 2010 that’s acting like kings – MI – gov can just take over cities, cancel all actions by elected officials, appoint viceroys with royal powers, etc., etc.
Yuck. I should prolly turn off the silly video machine; it’s approaching the moment when I’ll have to throw something at it, and I haven’t provided myself with rolled up socks, like Suze so prudently does.
CTuttle – how do you do your observatory work without advanced math?
The word ‘work’ as applied to Mssr. Tuttle in this instance is meant ironically, no?
Absolutely (more so when you have to ‘call’ the nine-ball’s pocket)! Trig also.
It sounds like you know more about what he does than I do….apparently I’ve merely leaped to conclusions based on locations….
all right mine host, CTuttle, what do you do up there?
The Bankster Gangsters master plan: foreclose on all the houses, then rent them out at inflated rates–get the same money as a monthly mortgage payment in rent, and still keep the house….
No! Don’t stop watching! I watch never (except for some golf), you’re my gift right now, keep chatting it up…
I think the Mellons wrote the playbook in Western PA after the ’29 crash.
David Gregory: what a fop…
I feel like I dodged a bullet. A few years ago I stopped into an open house not far away just out of curiosity to see what the house was like inside. A charming young realtor did his best to persuade me I could afford to buy despite my pitiful income, and gave me the name of a banker friend he was sure could figure out a way for me to get a loan anyway…..
Whew. I’d like to think I’m too smart to have been sucked in to something like a liar’s loan, but if I’d really been in love with the house, or they caught me on a vulnerable day, who knows? I knew I couldn’t afford it, so I never went any further. But that has to be what the realtor was thinking; it was definitely during the anything goes times.
Too late; shut it down already.
The kitties are here to tell me what I know—time for bed.
It’s been lovely chatting with you all.
Hmm, our host has been awfully quiet…did he sneak off to bed already?
T, when the largest decision to be made daily oscillates betwixt whether one is an idle loafer or a loafing idler, followed by refreshing beverages and a relax on blissful tropic sands, well…
Yep, and they were among the group of obligarchs back then, along with Prescott Bush, who conspired to pull off a coup de tat and overthrow FDR and take over the government….
*heh* Why thank ya, db…! You’re most kind…! 8-P
Btw, it’s been like forever, dood…! ;-)
Sorry folks, my toobz got plugged up for a bit…!
~~~I am afraid CTuttle is having connection problems this evening, and is in and out.~~~
Oh, so he’s not ducking our questions after all! Thx, Mod. You’re a peach.
Well, good night all; I’ll have to cross-examine CT some other time.
Be glad you’re not still living in the snow-swept wastes, mon ami…Of course, mud season should be upon us imminently.
Mahalo, Lurk…! ;-)
… and, Yours Truly went to The Cellar Door in Georgetown in 1970 to hear/see Miles Davis (his BItches Brew phase), and one of our entourage included a Mellon heiress. (I spoke with Miles, not incidentally.)
Well plenty of people in this thread seem to pay attention to their history =)
There’s a guy serving 23 months in prison for taking out a Liar’s Loan, yet the crooked outfit that lured him in was Countrywide, and it’s CEO Mozilo was just fined.
So the little guy who did what you almost did goes to jail, but the crook that processed the loan get’s nothing but a fine that was a small percentage of the profit he made scamming this poor guy….
I do remember the muck and mire of northern Albertan bogs, anytime of year…! ;-)
…and is in and out
‘…of gainful employment’
Sorry about that, tj…! Basically, I’m a human popsicle up there…! ;-0
That too…! ;-)
Why, it’s a year round sport, dear fellow…the sucking sound of tires being pulled to mother Earth’s bosom like errant rubber children, the constant thud and whirring of windshield wipers and emptying washer fluid pumps, and the movement of regular car washes from the ‘luxury’ to ‘necessity’ pile on the honeydew list…It’s enough to make a man want to shuck his corn.
Aloha, chaeronea…! How’s NYS tonite…?
I received my BA with a double major of Poly Sci/Asian-Pacific History…! ;-)
More trig *and it goes something like this*
Three Algonquin women were ready to have their babies, so their husbands prepared the birthing hides. The traditions held that a baby born on a buffalo hide would be a boy and grow up to be a brave warrior. Two husbands brought and laid buffalo hides for their women, but the third woman had no husband, and she was given to use the hide of a hippopotamus. In the morning all three gave birth to healthy babies. Sure enough, the babies born on buffalo hides were healthy, strong boys. The baby born on the hippopotamus hide was a healthy and beautiful baby girl. The boys prospered and grew to become strong, brave warriors. The girl also prospered, and in fact became the first woman chief of her tribe. Theorem: The squaw of the hippopotamus hide is equal to the sons of the squaws of the other two hides.
Wooohooo Snow. Finally we got something coming down. A couple feet would be nice but we will take what we can get. You all may think me nuts but it’s all about the fire danger in a couple months.
And i am guilty i use student assist calculations on line for my work. It is fast and easy to find angles and distance. It’s the freakin teens who taught me to cheat.
Alrighty now…! ;-)
NY is quiet from what I can tell, we’re trying to decide if we are done with winter or not here.
And good for you double major! =P Mostly I was teasing due to the mass of factual information being used as snark material by people here, its enjoyable.
More ‘math’: the first instance in English of the letter ‘a’ in a written numeral occurs at one thousand. (In Hebrew, ‘one’ = ‘aleph’ the first letter.)
Hey Ctut. I just got a new puter this week and am learning the ways of the 7. Seems some things are not consistant. Any pointers from you.
Getting to Lucky 100 with math!
Any number’s square plus that number, plus the next number = the next number’s square.
Aloha, homeroid, I remember using a slide ruler for my pre-calc classes in HS… Calculators were too bulky and expensive then…! ;-)
My dad told me a story once about how he had to win his slide rule via a competition due to cost. He was rather proud about it, and then told me I’d never ever have to understand how they functioned. I’ve always been somewhat curious.
They don’t have to foreclose, RA — after millions and millions of REO & short sales in the past four years, still 11.5 million homeowners are upside down on their mortgages, which means they’re renting the properties they “own” from the investors who hold those loans.
It’s the principal reason residential real estate will not recover any time soon.
Humm, anyone have thoughts on how much the right wing will try to bash the pres a bit more on Syria in the coming days? Its really sad, but this is what you get when you ignore the palestine/israel issue for so long. =(
And with that, I must prepare the bedchamber for another night of snoring, fitful rolling, and gaseous expulsions. Of course, after the lovin’ comes sleep.
Still getting used to my 7 ‘starter’ laptop…! I’ll tell ya when I figure it out too…! ;-)
Congrats on the century mark, chaeronea…! 8-)
Aloha kakou, db…!
Nobody wants anything to do with Syria, Israel included…!
thanks, its my second though =P
Nope, although they are already using it a strawman to bash the pres over going into libya via the Arab League. Its unlikely anyone can really do much to stop them hurting their civilians, but its not really news for them =/
I don’t much care what the right says about O. The Senators and the representatives should bare the brunt of not acting for the movement of this country. In my opinion they have more power than O. Freakin&&^%@@$%&()_$@#$&*
Jordan is real iffy these days too, some serious shit is going on in the entire ME and most likely the Globe…! Brings to mind the old chinese curse: ‘May you live in interesting times’…
I don’t mean to listen to them much, just the minimum possible, usually so I can try to convince someone who does lean right to reform some of their ways.
And yeah, the executive branch really should have the power to do interventions like this on the fly. If that’s abused, vote them out. I think a lot of this really was caused because there was so much uncertainty about the movement as the revolt/revolution began. A “wait and see” attitude isn’t the worst unless you know there are machines rolling to go kill people. Ironically, plenty of people will die on both sides from small arms, no matter how many things we bomb.
That being said, the representation does have the power, and they could defund the Iraq or Afghanistan wars, as well as this one. You’d think we might consider this before assuming “victory” was assured if we had have intervened earlier, etc.
Jordan seems to have a very intelligent family ruling it, imo. But the turmoil is there as well for sure. The curse is absolutely true, and I’m glad I’m alive for it now. Frustrated though I’m just on the verge of getting old enough for anyone to listen to what should be done.
I think it’s WW3 but without disclosure. WW2 was fomented via radio, and radar + code machines were significant weapons/tools. Historians will sort things out.
Something sweet for the sweet.
Welcome to Late Late Night FDL, whistlejacket – excellent submission!
In my 55 years of life i have known Quaddafi to be somewhat… lost. The assist to the rebels was to me humanitarian. After that i can only guess. I wish we could stop all inhumanity but they find it best to bailout the banks while people suffer. I have always found that when you help people they welcome you to their home. The banks just give you a better mortgage.
Thank you. (“Beauty is truth, truth Beauty — that is all ye know on Earth, and all ye need to know” — Keats)
The US has a shamefully huge number of people in prison. It’s disgraceful. We disguise our oppression but fool no one.
I will get sick if anyone yells victory. This is an on going mess. We the taxpayers of America pay for all this.I will not try to solve the problems we face. My statement is that sooner is better than later. Read that !@^&*()_*&^%$@!!@#$%^&*(
Must say i am starting to like the sweep across the top keys as an outlet.Try it. Hold the shift and run your finger across the top row….sure feels good to me.Saves having to type dickhead.
Okay, so Mary Jane raises her hand, her teacher calls on her, and Mary Jane asks: “What is ‘NATO”? Is it an acronym? Like NASA?” Chances are the teacher doesn’t know what the NATO acronym stands for. She says, “Excellent question, Mary Jane! Class, take out your notebooks and write down what you know about NATO,” while the teacher Googles NATO on her iPhone. While she’s Googling, Cedric pumps the air hard with his raised hand, and grunts for attention. The teacher notices and asks, “Cedric?” Cedric says, “NATO stands for North Atlantic Treaty Organization”. “Excellent, Cedric! That’s right!” the teacher realizes, and realizes that Cedric is faster than Google today. Mary Jane raises her hand, the teacher nods, and Mary Jane asks with a statement, “But Libya is in North Africa, nowhere near the North Atlantic region”. The teacher says, “How about that!”
Yeah, letting the tribes sort things out there might help, but it might not. But they seem to agree that we at least helped prevent a dictator that we had enabled through our own stupidity from killing a large amounts of innocents. Maybe it’ll work out.
Sorry, I was referring to the post hoc conclusion being made that earlier intervention would have somehow resulted in a more positive situation. The “victory”. While this is a definite possibility, its still disingenuous. We do pay for all of this, and unfortunately we’ve lowered taxes for over a decade now while declaring war on everything that moves. This is completely insane and unsustainable, yet we don’t seem to care.
But, but, someone told me recreational drugs are badddd. /snark
good Goddess let’s hope. The @#$#$%^&*( have all the power!@#$%^&*() we can only stand by. How is any thinking person to make sense of !@#$()_@#$%^&*()
I hope you can sleep as well as i tonight. I have come to terms with all that happens. sometimes i can have fun.
They’ve conducted longitudinal studies and found that marijuana use during sexual intercourse has permanent effects on children who are conceived at the time, whether the man or the woman, or both are high at the time. The studies show that children born to that couple show a large preponderance for liking The Beatles.
nignt all – be well
My life would definitely suck without the Lake…! *g*
Yep. It’s not perfect but it’s light years of most any other place I’ve found.
Why the f*** is Luke Russert nattering away on my teebee?…
Talk about born on 3rd base!
Why the f*** is Luke Russert nattering away on my teebee?…
I was channel surfing during a commercial break on Pawn Stars and came across him nattering away and almost puked. Let’s hear it for nepotism.
