Good morning all.
Very serious people who helped blow up the economy agree:
for the sake of the children, it’s time to make the little people pay.
Time for a NFZ over Syria?
97% of economists aren’t neolibrul, but 100% of economic policymakers are.
Mornin’, BT, pups
Well, Sparky, you’re on the verge of plunging us into yet another quagmire. And the drooling fools in Congress will go right along, whispering their concerns over the cost, etc, on the Sunday morning airhead shows.
Yeah. And one over Saudi Arabia. And Yemen. And Bahrain.
Boxturtle (I’m being a good little conservative today, so I won’t suggest Gaza)
What’s Donald’s plan for creating jobs?
And then the drooling fools will use this as yet another reason we’re broke and it’s all social security’s fault.
IMO this is going to be a spectacular failure. Even if the drooling fools permit it, we simply don’t have the boots available to do it. And I can’t see Britain or France sending in ground troops without us.
So I think we’ll bomb for awhile, declare mission accomplished, then blame the rebels for losing.
Boxturtle (I hate this war. It has me agreeing with Boner)
Donald is a birther? Odd, considering the origin of his “hair” is in much more serious question than the origin of Obama. And shouldn’t running multiple businesses into the proverbial ground also disqualify you for running for president?
And the drooling fools in Congress will go right along, whispering their concerns over the cost loudly demanding cuts in entitlement spending and social services, etc, on the Sunday morning airhead shows.
Fixed it for ya.
A birth certificate scavenger hunt.
The cheapest way to set up a no-fly zone anywhere in the world would be to send the air traffic controllers from Washington National Airport to the desired area and let them work their magic.
Good morning firepups.
This question has probably been answered a thousand times here, but I have missed the answer, I will ask a stupid question.
Why in the world will Obama NOT show his birth certificate and get this ridiculous issue behind him. It is not going to go away anytime soon and with the 2012 elections coming up, the stupids are just going to continue to ask to see his birth certificate again and again.
Google is your friend.
Stay classy, Donald!
While I do have my criticisms of The Donald, you’ve got to admit that the little animal he carries around on top of his head is really very cute.
Wait: That’s his hair? I guess I stand corrected.
Morning BT & Firepups.
officials were looking into the possibility that the air traffic controller on duty had fallen asleep.
It is Ronald Reagan Airport, after all.
Works for me.
Only one of our trolls came back to the thread yesterday and ET, who showed up late, broke one off in his ass.
We will be allowed to snoop around in his penthouse? You never know where it might be.
“Sparky?” I like that. Speaking more formally, it would be “Mr. President Sparky.”
Sorta has that magisterial tone, don’t it?
He did. The wingnuts simply won’t believe it, that’s all.
Linky from snopes.
Boxturtle (Twolf@11 :BawHAHaha!)
He prolly wasn’t asleep. He was prolly suffering from senile dementia.
He has shown his birth certificate. The State of Hawaii has shown his birth certificate. It’s posted on the internet. eCAHN is right. Using teh google, you too can see his birth certificate. Maybe less FAUX “News” in your household?
I use Sparky for special people. *g*
And it’s contaminated my vernacular. *g*
Has Warren Buffet cornered the market in bottled water in Japan yet?
I cannot stand Fox news and never have it on.
The most our tv runs is during the NCAA’s and it will be busy this weekend.
I should also add that most of my news comes from sites like FDL. It is more up to date and accurate, not filtered.
Why tax cuts and subsidies to corporations of course.
Alzheimers or senile dementia, either worked fine for GHW.
LMAO! Oh this is going to drive people like Tancredo and Arpaio absolutely nuts!
WASHINGTON — In a surprising show of growth, Hispanics accounted for more than half of the U.S. population increase over the last decade, exceeding estimates in most states. Pulled by migration to the Sun Belt, America’s population center edged westward on a historic path to leave the Midwest.
Why of course. Both are proven job creators.
Then I don’t understand how you can still be laboring under the delusion about Obama’s birth certificate. It’s been posted since the wingers first bit into this “issue” two years ago.
If you actually read the article you would see that the Japanese government had already organized itself and was passing water out for free to families who had children under the age of one – for whom the advisory was in effect.
That’s how I picked it up many moons ago.
Good Morning All,
Looks to be another fascinating day ahead ….
and one of those non-union types I would suppose and it couldn’t happen at a more appropriate airport.
Don’t Hispanics have higher birth rates as well? Won’t that coupled with immigration accelerate the time that caucsians become the minority?
What is the predicted year that will happen?
I got my answer today. I just never paid that much attention to it until I finally reached the point where the constant harping pissed me off this morning.
Now that BoxTurtle was kind enough to answer the question that I asked, it will not be brought up again.
I still see those “where’s the birth certificate” billboards from time to time.
That IS the reason for the increase. And minorities already ARE the majority in California at least.
I did read the story, and it is commendable that the Japanese govt is doing that.
The comment was a snark about the Buffet story that came out the other day where Buffet called the crisis in Japan a “buying opportunity.”
Why in the world will Obama NOT show his birth certificate and get this ridiculous issue behind him.
Is this a multiple choice Ridiculous Birther Quiz?
A) Obama was really born in Kenya and his family are all Mau Maus
B) When Obama was a child, his dog ate his birth certificate
C) Obama deliberately is hiding it, so that the “Birthers” just get more and more Extra Strength Crazy Racist

I want to know O’s SAT scores and college/law school grades.
Forget the birth certificate. Let’s see the transcripts.
Hey, I wasn’t trying to be mean! I’ve had a friendship request in to you practically since the day this new format arrived. I was surprised, that’s all.
I want video of the labor, with prominent street signs in the background.
Buy: Concrete, timber, glass, steel (careful here, though), food futures.
Sell: Nuclear anything, Yen denominated securities, non-construction Japanese stocks.
Those are the obvious ones. Any dramatic change is a money making oppertunity.
Boxturtle (Seems ghoulish, though)
Thanks for the numbers SD. It reminds me why I get sick every time I hear the word “bomb” or “airstrikes” or … well, you get the idea. We never seem to hit the targets we were ‘aiming’ at (if there is such a thing as aiming a bomb that is) and always manage to kill a lot of innocent bystanders for which we are (not really) sorry for afterward.
I recently read an article on Consortium News about how bloodthirsty all Christians became after Emperor Constantine made Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire. Before that they were complete pacifists – you could not be a Christian and be a soldier. After Constantine you could not be a soldier unless you were a Christian. It’s been downhill ever since.
All the supposed diplomats keep saying they tried everything. But they never seem to try diplomacy – you know – their jobs???
Diplomacy doesn’t work after you have already started yelling at the guy and threatening him and imposing sanctions and NFZs etc. You have to start with that…
I have to admit, I’d be real interested in his University grades for Consitiutional Law.
Boxturtle (I don’t think he could pass the course if he toook it now)
I also want to know how one gets selected for Harvard Law Review prez.
Can we get the Nobel Peace Prize rescinded?
While Buffet, as usual, put both feet in his mouth, that statement was in the context of Nihon’s economic outlook post disaster. Forgot that part, didja?
And give him a Nobel Stupid Prize instead…
Memorize, pass, forget.
(In Polish, apparently, all 3 words begin with Zs. When I visited there, I asked my distant relative’s wife, in her 40s in 2000, an economist, how she got thru her economics courses under communism. 3-Zs was her answer.)
New post up top…
I’m confused. Boxturtle’s link goes to a CNN article about Boner. (I don’t care about the birth certificate, btw)
Good morning, folks. Sun is out here today YAY!
Yeah, the Nobel committee said they were trying to “encourage him to do the right thing”. It didn’t work. So I think they should take it back and give it to someone far more deserving. Even that speech he gave when he got it was absolutely appalling – total warmongering justification and crap.
I don’t think he could pass the course if he took it now
I doubt the reichwing segment of the current Supreme Court could pass it.
I suppose that it was a surprising question this late on that issue and I always respect your opinions.
After teaching h.s. for 38 years, I always told my students that there was no such thing as a dumb question and if I did not know the answer, I would find it for them before the next class.
I got my answer today.
Argh. That’s because I fatfingered it, I still had the link in my clipboard from aprior post. Apoligies, corrected link is here.
Boxturtle (I plead undercaffination, correcting now)
They had to have known then. I sure did.
Do you know if they ever took it in the first place? From some of the crazy things Scalia has said I wonder.
From the subsequent comments, apparently nobody followed your first link. I’m not sure why I tried to, since I think one of the few things Obama has been honest about is his birthplace.
Whaddya know? Andrew Breitbart has been given a forum on Huffington AOL Post. Never coulda seen that coming…
The progressive advocacy group Color of Change is mounting a campaign to urge the Huffington Post to stop giving a forum to “notorious liar and race-baiter Andrew Breitbart.” HuffPo responded by claiming that Breitbart’s “first post on our site drew over 1,635 comments,” thereby “validat[ing] the premise and the decision to publish his blog post.” Color of Change notes that HuffPost is validating “someone who has repeatedly sought to harm” black leaders and institutions.
No, your question was not surprising. I wish more people would still ask it because Faux News keeps on giving sound bites to the birthers.
If you missed a few key days here and there, I can understand how one would have missed the posting of the link to the certificate.
No big deal. And, you are correct, there is no such thing as a dumb question.
Any new lurker who has never seen the link will now have a heads up.
Take care AppleCanyon2.
BTW…Thank you for dedicating 38 years to teaching. Not enough teachers get thanked.
You two stop that now, because now we’ll have to suffer through all those comments from his former students about professor Barry’s grasp of the constitution and how to work around the nuances that was spellbinding ,amazing. In fact are many of his former students in Unitary Justice dept working that torture or war thing.
He never taught a class on the addendums to the constitution, the Bill of Rights that any records show.
Bring on the student defenders …..
M-O-N-E-Y talks, integrity walks.
I agree with CofC, and the number of responses is meaningless unless you analyze just what those responses were. If over half of them were people yelling about how Breitbart is a toady or a total tool or a serious jerk-off, well there you go.
Which was why when AOL and HuffPo merged I cancelled my subscription.
Oh I forgot – if over half of them are just posters yelling at each other over stuff that is completely off-topic….well, you get the drift as that is what happens a lot on HuffPo.
Content doesn’t matter, just numbers they can shove under advertisers’ noses. As long as they are getting traffic, they could care less. I have clicked since I found out AOL was taking over.
Didn’t know The Donald was a birfer. Zounds! I agree that The Donald should get offa his pampered entitled @ss and create more jobz in order to make him & his hairpiece more useful.
The latest ohmigawd! floating around the birfer set is that, apparently, young Barry Oilbummer did not stay up late on July 16 1969 to watch – live on tv – Team USA “conquer” the moon. Rather young Barry slept in his bed in Jarkarta Indonesia (such odd furrrin names…). And that factiod absolutely PROVES that Oilbummer is simply not Murkin-y enuf for T-GOPers to “relate” to him as a real ‘Murkin.
Neat trick of the Elites, like The Donald, to pump out so much distracting nonsense that T-GOPers will *buy* and hence be distracted from the ongoing CLASS WARFARE, where elites like The Donald look with as much disdain on subservient T-GOPers, as he does on us dfh’s. guh
I have never figured out why The Donald is so revered as a businessman when he has filed for bankruptcy as many times as the law will allow (and maybe more), and his “empire” is a fabric of tissue and lies and spin since he actually owns almost nothing – just has his name on a lotta stuff. But somehow the myth persists. He’s certainly a good spinmeister. But that’s all he is – an empty suit. Blah blah blah blah….
I just happened to be on leave then and wife and I watched the landing with a couple who lived down the street. We lived in a small house in Uraga, a small village outside of Yokosuka. Fresh eggs daily from the little store at the bottom of the hill.
I “get” what you’re saying, but I think you really answered your own question. In today’s business world – or perhaps forever – it’s all about lies, stealing, being crooked, cheating, utterly lacking any integrity whatsoever, and getting away with absolutely everything and anything.
The Donald is so revered bc the guy is an absolute shyster/grifter… and he does it all with such “panache” and such chutzpah and with such new bimbo arm-candy wives… what’s not to revere??
I’m truly serious when I say that, imo, an *issue* for most liberals/leftists is that we tend to adhere to notions of truth and honesty and all that moral rigamoral. The MOTU revel in being crooked bastards, and that’s why they point & mock at those who have integrity… and it’s *also* why whistleblowers get royally screwed, aka Private Bradley Manning, but there’s loads & loads of examples in the business world.
Just my take, but I think how The Donald plays fast & loose, declares bankruptcy – hence de-obligating himself from “paying” his debts – etc is quite “acceptable” and even “laudable” to the PTB. Now he’s reincarnated himself as a Hollywood Star, so: hey hey, go The Donald! Neat trick!
And so: on it goes…
heh… why then, you DO qualify as a real ‘murking (phew)
I was working in a soft-serve ice cream establishment and almost lost my job bc I insisted on going home to watch the landing… there were absolutely NO customers but the cheap-skate owner didn’t want to close early.
Guess I’m a real ‘Murkin, too… har
I didn’t watch the moon landing live on TV either – guess that makes me un-American as well.
What was I doing? Oh, nuthin much – I was on active duty in the US Navy. Standing watch. No TV in sight.
I was 9 at the time. My parents dragged me out of bed which was at 20:17:40 UTC. Jakarta is UTC+8 which means it would have landed on the moon at 0417, (4:17am) in the time zone Obama was in. Yeah….how un-American can you get not making sure you were in a more convenient time zone?
I grew up in a family that did not own a TV set. I find it quite imaginable given the country, the family, and a bunch of other circumstances that this might have been the case for Obama as well. Even if he was up at 4 am – was there a TV available?
Why why why… how UNAmerican of you!!! How can any self-respecting T-GOPer ‘relate’ to you, as an American!!!! eeeeeeeeeeeee
was there a TV available?
That’s another question, of course. But IF there wasn’t, I’m sure that, in T-GOP-land, that would also definitively prove how Obama is just “too different” to lead America, or similar hokum nonsense.
Well, they can’t anyway cuz I’m one a those dfh sand-pounding librul bleedin-heart crazies they love to hate so there you go.
Yeah, I’m still waiting to find out who all the “Muslim Brotherhood” members are who have “infiltrated every level of our government” at Obama’s behest.
On a side note relating to Neil Armstrong’s moon walk, which today’s T-GOPers wish to use as a billy-club against Obama’s purported “American-ness”… back in the day, the old-line John Birchers were adamantly opposed to the Space program because of, of course, how it “wasted” Bircher taxpayer dollars.
Next door neighbor was a giant John Birch *fanatic* back in the day. Poor woman later went on to commit suicide (RIP), and I often wondered whether those extremist views back then, plus a TON of racism & bigotry, didn’t contribute to whatever “demons” that drove her to end her life. But boyohboy did she bitch ‘n moan about the “cost” of the Moon landing, and what a giant sucking “waste of tax dollars” it was.
I find it amusing that these latter day Birchers (both the older & now the newer groups being lavishly funded by the Koch-roach family) are all over the Moon landing and finding it “horrid” that yound Barry didn’t watch it “live,” which emphatically proves something or other…
Andrew Breitbart & James O’Keefe may have to be called upon to use their, uh, “skills” to “prove” the riddling of Muslim Brotherhood throughout Obummer’s Admin. Coming soon to a theatre near you…
I lived in New Orleans at the time…just to recall that most adults were quite zoned out on Moon Punch during must of the historic moment….I know. How N’orleans….(I wish Anderson Cooper could learn to pronounce the name….)
“Against this backdrop, the knee-jerk reaction of my formerly beloved lefty blogosphere is depressing and educational. While they wail about the cost of cruise missiles they would not begrudge if we were saving Cincinatti from the Mongol hordes, the core fact of real-life rebellion not only against tyrants but corrupt, authoritarian oligarchies (sound familiar?) flies right past them. That the country might do well to get behind this worldwide revolution, much less that it’s exactly what they’ve all been waiting for, enters not their consciousness. Like musty radicals in endless SDS meetings from hell, they argue over doctrine, wave the oily shirt, and bleat, “but what about the Ivory Coast?” as if they really care or know where it is. Pathetic, hopeless, hidebound, doomed!” http://www.farrfeed.com/2011/03/24/everything-is-different-now/

the army that rebel military leaders bragged about consists of only about 1,000 trained men
Koch funded Tea Party events get better turn out than that.
Peterson funded ‘catfood for the old folks’ events get better turn out than that.
Now I see why Robert Gates and Hillary Clinton both seemed far more hesitant than our gungho President on Libya.
