Aloha, Suz and LLN pups…!
“Claiming jobs comes from wealth is the same thing as claiming the oceans come from the rain, the reverse is true in both cases”__perris
*stinker* hee hee!
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight?
hey robert — how was your day?
A day of rest & relaxification….
Saw the Super Moon tonight, but not until almost 11:00 p.m. It was huge and lovely. Did anyone see it at the horizon rising?
Today was actually a raw blustery day…! Brrr…! Btw, the latest descriptor is ‘turnip’…! ;-)
yay!!!
hey ce — how’s ohio tonight? i finally saw it tonight after it had cleared the peaks around me… sure is bright and i can see stars. without the blanket of clouds, its gonna get chilly tonight — already down to 41
turnip is good. jen’s at crenshaw melon and has what she now thinks is strep. she’s callling her doc for antibiotics and i hope she is feeling better quickly. and that next week is *not* another melon
Colder here tonight as well! Around 40 degrees. MsCE and I were the lucky to be gifted tickets to the Cleveland Opera/Symphony of Don Giovanni tonight. Fantastic. Great ride home in the moonlight.
That is just not fare.
It’s been blustery and rainy for the past two days in the Bay Area. Nasty FUCKIN weather and based on the most recent satpic I saw, it’s going to be FUCKED all week.
FUCK!
It was golden and glowing. Beautiful.
oh yay!!! what a fun evening ce
hey senator — how’s sac tonight? it just seems forking cruel
Tell me fuckin’ about it. I live on the fuckin’ American River, dood. It is fuckin’ high. And windy. Fuckin’ windy.
Did I say it was fuckin’ windy!
hey thatguy — you guys are getting our storms — tis good for us (i was wondering if my toes were gonna grow webs) but its a lotta rain for down there.
how was your day?
hey margot — how was your day?
The last part of pregnancy can be tough but have strep is nasty.
*said with a completely straight face*
how fucking windy was it?
The weather person said it will be the worst flooding in 15 years.
she sounds all froggy on the phone. she saw the doc fri for her regular apt and we talked afterwards. doc told her if not better by mon to call — jen said she woke up this morning with a nasty sore throat and was gonna get antibotics. poor thing can’t get comfy no matter and is ready for this baby *now*
40 miles an hour. with gusts. I am sleeping in the living room cause there is a big maple tree in the front of my bedroom window. It is nights like this when I am glad I am a renter!
It was very special. Thanks to our friends who gifted the tickets. MrCE and I are STILL not well. I’ve had to postpone the rest of my root canal work because I’ve been so sick. Who ever thought I’d want to be well enough for a dental dam… Hiya Pups! How’s the weekend? Extra hugs to Margaret.
jeebus…. wasn’t that when 5 was flooded out between sac and stockton and there were troubles with levees? jeebus
Ahem, Suz, speaking of night and moons, dedicated a recording of a Grieg Nocturne to you way back – here it is again.

ThatGuy,
I live in Sonora, between you and Yosemite Nat Park.
It’s been raining, snowing, blowing, cold, just plain miserable.

I saw a cartoon many years ago. Can anyone help me find it again?
It was about a dog and a man who were in a car accident. The medics gave the dog the mans IV and the man got the dogs IV. The results still make me laugh. Anyone know the name of said cartoon?
thanks babe *smooches* i’ve got that on my favorites and play it to soothe *more smooches*
hey waynec — i think i featured that one up top a few years ago… let me think on what the fork it was called.. i’m thinking it was a tex avery cartoon…
do ya have your hatches battened down? sounds right nasty out there
The Sac River has already flooded homes on the other side of the county, after the confluence of the Sac and the American.
My house was built in 1964 and has never flooded. The other bank of the river is much lower and it falls into Fair Oaks rather than Rancho Cordova.
Crazy Mixed up Pup
you beat me to it mary — that’s the one i was thinking of….
walter lanz not tex avery — no wonder i was having difficulty finding it
Fuck, I hope this is the last fuckin storm of the season. THe satpic shows this fuckin shit going all the way to Hawaii.

Ya’ll be well, got to go pickup my daughter from work.

We are in fucking trouble. fuck.
It was ok but this weather has me wanting to drug the FUCK out of myself and fuckin sleep all day tomorrow AND…we’re driving to Nicasio to go see Paul Thorn. We’re going to have to get there early, because I don’t want to have to fall in the mud on the way inside.
FUCK!
mary found it and linked it at #35. will be waiting for ya when ya get back
hey eblair — how ya doing tonight?
oh man. No oil. No nukes. Conserve. Conserve. Conserve. We could save half of our energy costs if we retrofitted our homes and lived in smaller homes. And quit buying so much crap. Of course, the economy is taking care of that last bit.
I was still in newspapers AND flying at that time, and I was up once the weather cleared up and you cannot fully imagine the vastness of the flooding. Rio Vista got it, and all the way down south of SCK and near MOD. It was bad. Many broken levees.
Good. I can finally read Italian! Something clicked in my head.
That little bar out in Nicasio ?
yikes — leave earlier than early dood…. that’s a lotta rain and you know the usual places on the way there that’s prone to high waters… that infamous lucky drive at 101 interchange comes to mind among others….
i want that click too ;)
Rancho Nicasio!
Disagree. Like it or not, if you don’t want an agrarian society and a massive die-off (not that that would be bad) we need nukes. Solar and wind ain’t gonna do it for seven billion people.
People also have to quit having so many kids (nothin personal, Suz).
Yes, it’s quite a music venue but the drive to get there in this weather will be slow and could be treacherous.
Learn all the verbs. And the 100 ways to say “nevertheless”. Then it will click.
none taken… but i disagree, we do *not* need nukes. we need more renewable green energy programs and less wars
Plan to spend the night. There are pretty inexpensive hotels in Novato.
And a much lower birth rate.
Ecco!
J has to be back down here (SJ) to go to work in the morning. She may work from home that day, but she has to be in the presence of her work laptop.
MARYMCCURNIN: did you see my #40??
*sigh* i think the best way for me is to just go there – sink or swim kinda deal. i’d have to learn to speak the language before i could really read it.
Sleepy, windy, sunny. Dog and I went up and down the street visitng neighbors we hadn’t seen since Christmas:)
Too cloudy to see the moon, and a tad windy. I still want to crawl in bed early, though I’ve had a couple of nights where I didn’t have to wake up to cough. Makes the cats happy. I do wonder if the one who sleeps on my chest has helped my recovery any, especially as my normal temperature is a degree or so lower than “normal.”
The flaw in that argument is the “don’t want a massive die-off, support nukes”. The irony is running deep enough for a folk song.
No nukes is good nukes.
sounds like a good day margot… ya got outta the house and spent some time visiting :)
hey vc — are you feeling better? i’m still not used to the time change and my sleeping patterns are off
Suze! Pups!
No supermoon here tonight, just a little thunderstorm. The moon was gorgeous last night, however. The thunderstorm doesn’t seem to be amounting to much, which is good. We don’t need rain on top of melting snow.
Oh, that’s wonderful! How did you learn, online? If so what program?
hey openhope — how’s the sound tonight? btw — saw your note and was glad ya like the flogging
hey ndfg — how was your day?
Crap. I thought I responded.
I hate those oil assholes. I wonder if it is coming from the original BP spill, as in leaking again. They so don’t know what they are doing.
Well, if you can get there, then don’t forget to drink a lot. That increases communication skills by a factor of 10.
We have a definitely 18% larger moon out tonight. The sides look out of proportion.
I think magic is afoot. :]
*laughing* true dat. i’ve got a long bucket list but doing the grand tour is on it…
I have about half a dozen things I want to write a diary about, but just can’t command any singular discipline at present.
So some Pink Floyd/Us and Them from a ways back will have to do for now.
Ooh! I wish I was there with you! Large and beautiful here, but not magical.
((Chris))
I have used a bunch of different methods. I’m actually doing multiple languages at once. Rather insane. But probably the best thing to do is just learn a bunch of Italian songs. Then do verb conjugations. Then flashcardmachine.com for auto drilling hundreds of verbs. Then Lingoes for mouseover insta dictionary. That’s what I would do if I were starting from scratch today. Oh, and set your homepage to news.google.it
Read about Heinrich Schleimann’s method. He lied about Troy, but not about learning languages.
flooooyd
Hey Margot! Can you see the moon?
Yeah, maybe they ran out of corexit. What is the latest on the BP aftermath? Did the blob really disperse??
People are still getting sick. Dolphins are miscarrying. The shrimp has oil in them. And the crab harvest is terrible. BP is satan.
I learned recently, and fear I may have subjected you all to this….no matter how hard obtaining sleep is; Ambien is not your friend. Once again, pharma proves toxic.
The youngbloods are coming over tomorrow with a store bought distiller to try their hand at making rum.
I’m really curious about it because I would like to try my hand at distilled herbs. There has to by a better sleep aid in nature.
dope, openhope.
Ambien may be toxic but Ativan is the insomniac’s best friend. Or magic brownies.
One semester i tried taking Spanish, French and Navajo. I had to drop Navajo but the other two together sort of helped. It didn’t help that Spanish class was right after French and the teacher would be a little ticked that it took me a while to wrench my brain into the correct gear. But that was decades ago! Don’t know how plastic my brain is now. Thanks for your suggestions, I’ll try them.
Other than that, it’s all good, no worries. Don’t sweat the details.
HAHAHAHA, GMTA!
I can’t help with sleep aids. But, I’m telling all here that replacing allergy meds with using a netti pot will change your life. One pot, Kosher salt, water. No prescribed meds needed for year for me.
A bowl of sweet cereal works for me. O, and keeping the maine coon Merlin out of the bedroom….
i gotta snack on something before bed… used to be a bowl of cereal but lately its more varied. a full belly and token snuggled up and i’m usually good to sleep
I totally agree. Irrigate those sinuses!
Yeah, now that our financial lives are no longer tied to Morman Incorporated I can actually practice real herb stuff.
They say that Rosetta Stone is a great program. I moved to France with no language skills — talk about into the fire!
People make it much harder than it needs to be. Just buy some CD’s. That will do A LOT. There are people out there today learning a dozen languages for kicks and they don’t do it the old way. They start by memorizing large chunks of books. Camus contains all the French grammar you need. Grammar books are for losers. :p
THe difference between you andme is I’m not opposed to a massive die-off. Hell, I only have about 10-15 years left anyway and frankly, once I head west, y’all are on your own. But NO known “green” energy source scales to seven billion people, unless you revert to a pre-industrial-revolution way of life. I don’t know many young people but of the ones whose writings I see on the interwebz, not a one of them will be able to live without their Xboxes or iPhones. Without a power source that scales to the existing population, the die-off is inevitable, from the lack of water purification alone.
that’s how i would have to it — sink or swim
Rosetta Stone seems really cool, but it is way way overpriced (must be why the Pentagon uses it), and is really overrated. I did 80% of the Italian, but it didn’t make me 80% fluent.
It was hilarious. I could tell you tales that would make us both cry with laughter.
hey all!
if the clouds are overhead, a moon all the firepups can bark at is here

;)
My husband swears by them. I just bought myself a little porcelain one. As a multiple broken nose injury, mouth breather.. pouring water down my sinuses sets me into a mini panic. I’m planning of moving into that fear and beyond it.
clean sinuses are clean filters
hey ks — and congrats on snagging the happy lucky 100! how was your day?
Wikipedia says: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tryptophan#Use_as_a_dietary_supplement
I did the foreign language classes at the Institut Catholique, du Paris rue d’Assas. Cheap and full of international students.
Nope, just looked and it’s cloudy.
pretty good day Suzanne, I guess I am lucky!
hey mzchief — how’s pdx tonight?
woohoo!!! any signs of spring in ks yet?
yes!
daffodils head are poking up thru the ground
we had a actual thunderstorm today
and I have seen green knobs on shrubbery aplenty
But mouth breathing is the key. Turn your head, insert the pot, breath slowly and calmly. Shit comes out. Golly.
Hey, ThatGuy, I’ve always been a believer in the cycles of massive die off. I don’t think we should pursue that destiny through a fucked up manmade idea like Nukes. It doesn’t matter if the youngbloods can survive without their comforts. No human willingly gives up personal levels of comfort freely, for the common good. We do it because events out of our control take comfort from us.
Translate Google turns out to be a friend but it has no Navajo.
How were they? And how much were they? I’m more inclined to hire a tutor these days. I don’t think I could sit in a classroom anymore.

my daffs on the deck are starting to open. this afternoon, i saw there are the start of buds on the apple trees and the daffs have opened in the side yard. sure signs of spring :)
I have many inches of daffs , like 5 inches of them poking up. Can’t wait.
Blerg. Kissinger makes me no not long for my youth.
How are you robertarend?
I’m greatly looking fwd this year … for one thing we got plenty of snow and cold here this year which helps with the bugs a lot … less bugs, easier to get work done outside, counting blessings
iirc the rhododendrons are next to bloom… their buds are getting bigger and bigger and then the apples will bloom. eye candy will abound!
Thank you, I’m looking forward to reading it tomorrow with coffee. Tryptophan comes up dealing with cholesterol as well. I’ve been working on a simple menu that’s crashed my cholesterol by 130 points in 3 weeks.
I’m also starting magnesium and vitamin d [though I think synthetic vitamins are suspect].
Is he going to live forever? I keep waiting for some of these war criminals to kick the bucket.
No time change in HI. Of course, now I have to keep track of the difference when calling family on the mainland.
Feeling better, though still coughing.
Took the day to rest my brain from a weeks of full time writing and editing for Circle 8 and getting that next Obama Chronicle done for OpedNews.
Sunday, I’ll have time for you….
that’s right — you and az don’t change — am glad you are better. i’ve heard folks complain about that cough and how it lingers….
Some brief computer issues and various timings off but things coming to a resolution. I am always pleased when the humans triumph over machines yet again!
I did drive past an open field of green stubble today: edge to edge it’ll be wheat by june
Take some more time, honey! All work and no play something something…..
i hear sunshine is in our forecast for tomorrow
That’s a pretty interesting statement from that 88 year old guy (born in 1923).
i love the smell of spring… all the new shoots and warm earth
Editing is hard work, but reading is relaxing. I’m anxious to get caught up on your work….
Oh good!
And how are you, Suz?
Well, he sees himself as that rare old dude who is useful whenever he eats….
i’m hanging in.. looking forward to sunshine and hopefully a sunset. its been a while since i’ve had a colorful sunset
I have been swamped with sites to build. I am actually making good money doing site development for a change. So, I haven’t been writing lately. Will probably have a break and can get back to it soon.
the first few days of warm breezes are really great
today and tomorrow will be mud, but that’s ok and even that will get better ;)
evening, Suzzzz — wild winds and rain tonight — otherwise, we’re doing well by the bay.
*snoopy happy dance*
Yea! And Ron has work, too.
hey ppd — gotta feel nice knowing the roof is all done and ya don’t have to worry about that anymore. how was your day?
Non-GMO food source dietary supplements are most favored. The notion is to use what Momma Nature has created for the human children. Longer explanation in this thread with the crux of the matter enunciated here.
Got to prioritize the major income, of course.
But you have years of your writing taking a backseat to make up for.
Your novel, minus the issue of shifting points of view, displays a very real gift for poetic prose and turning a phrase….
Heck, my teacher had to keep asking her mother what the word for “owl” etc. was. And then writing it was full of stops and starts. But it had cool glottalstops and sounded wonderful.
Yay!
Thanks. That makes me feel really good.
busy but good, thanks — running all day from one thing to the next. Roof seems to be holding up well & the new gutters came just in time. We had an important meeting with our hospice social worker & our family.
And the fact you were only in your early 20s when you started putting this multi-generational novel together is even more impressive. You were such a very talented young lady. Get back in touch with her.
tomorrow is my run around and do everything day — mon i plan on heading over the hill to see jen
how far a drive is that, Suzzz?
Ah! There’s the moon! Well above the horizon, but looking pretty. The young cat is running madly about, and I might be inclined to blame it on the moon, if it weren’t normal behavior for her (1 yo a couple of days ago), and she’s also trying to convince me it’s time to feed her (almost, and I also have to give the older cat her fluids first).
WRT to languages, taking French & Italian together makes sense – they’re both Romance languages, and might reinforce each other – one of my best quarters was when I took bacteriology and genetics (lots of genetics research using bacteria, and lots of study of bacteria is their genetics – at least it was 30 years ago).
tis an hour and a half each way over the coast range, summit is 1500 ft — am hoping that the snow that fell up there earlier in the week has melted off the roadway by mon
I am off to bed. See you all tomorrow or the next.
How about an energy containment field in a galaxy far, far away?
Yeah! I like both of those!!
g’nite mary
Sounds challenging in the least. :-)
Denatured salts and vinegars are a big interest for me. Those are common ingredients introduced multiple times a day that work against the body’s chemical balance.
Reprocessed shit molecules to produce a better manufactured product. A product that creates a harmful acid imbalance.
O, I think he’ll soon be eating some very alien things in a place much farther…and hotter….
Niters MaryMc
Sweet dreams, marymccurnin.
Close your eyes and think of that young woman with dreams of a literary future, Mary. She’ll come to you in your sleep. Tell her you’re going to make all her dreams come true….
Check out the utility of a non-alcohol base of Red Shiso (an herb from the mint family). It’s popular with many.
Hope the weather’s better up there than down here, Suzzz. Drive carefully, and wish Jenn well from all of us.
hiya mzchief
hiya Margot
Hey PPDCUS :-)
thanks ppd — i’ve got only scattered showers and sunshine in the forecast for sun and mon. a huge improvement over the no sun for the past couple weeks of drippiness. been a real wet march so far — i’m ready for some good weather. it was forking raining when i had evacuate last week — oh the joys of packing up the critters and the car in the rain *shaking head* i’m ready for some dry and that yellow thingie in the sky
To all peeps older than me:
Is the final clue to full awareness that I am officially a senior citizen this abrupt change where when I sneeze I fart?
Whoa– pumpkin time. Niters, folks, and mañana!
hiya PPD
nite mzchief:)
am i older than you or is it just a guy thing? i am aware that women who are of a certain age can have another um, ah, hmmm plumbing issue when sneezing.
g’nite mzchief
I think it’s an old guy thing, but I need an veteran old guy to substantiate that.
I’d really like an answer, maybe even a cure….
It sounds like a full day.
My mom fell again a couple nights ago, a warning shot over the bow. Thank you jesusmaryjoseph. Could have been a full bomb going off in our lives, again.
Wonder if your Super Moon is visible yet. ? Or are you too socked in.
i wonder if there is something like a kegel exercise that ya could do
oh no openhope — hope only her pride was bruised..
You mean daily contracting of my butt muscles? Sounds reasonable. I’ll give it a whirl.
I just don’t look forward to something like that happening in church…Folks already give me strange looks there enough without adding to their suffering….
how are the barricades in Ohio tonight?
tis an exercise ya can do with no one knowing you are doing it.
’bout time for me to turn back into a pumpkin folks. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight.
g’nite all
Oops! It happened again.
Hope I don’t sneeze in my sleep. The Sweety won’t like that.
Nighters, everybody.
It’s a major rainstorm here. I doubt we’ll see the big luna tonight, maybe tomorrow night?
Cool, I’ll check out Red Shiso. I’m extending my herb garden. I have mints in planters that are starting to come back.
I’m not sure. What do your ass and nose think? :]
The wearing out of the body has a lot of weird questions like that.
I don’t know…had to take a break.
She only tonight let me give her an Aleve. She’s bruised and fragile. I’m amazed Mom and Dad have been able to stay in their place this long. I’m preparing myself for this being the fall that leads to The Fall. Which leads to them moving in.
I may need a chicken killing project this fall. [dark humor]
everything I see on our favorite blogs indicates that Kasich is toast. It’s right out of Les Mis, margot
Hope your mom will recover quickly, OH and things go well for your family.
