Russia, a permanent member of the U.N. Security Council with veto powers, said it opposed foreign military intervention.

I don’t watch teebee. Other than the demonstration in Tallahassee at the opening of the 2011 legislative session the demos are sked 4-6pm throughout FL. For this kind of stuff we line major roadways to catch the evening traffic.

From Juan Cole this morning

Arguably, Tunisians are now freer than Americans. The US government thinks our private emails are actually public. The FBI and NSA routinely read our email and they and other branches of the US government issue security letters in the place of warrants allowing them to tap phones and monitor whom we call, and even to call up our library records and conduct searches of our homes without telling us about it. Millions of telephone records were turned over to George W. Bush by our weaselly telecom companies. Courts allow government agents to sneak onto our property and put GPS tracking devices under our automobiles without so much as a warrant or even probable cause. Mr. Obama thinks this way of proceeding is a dandy idea.

Obama learned well from his mentor and predecessor President Bush Cheney:

The White House has rejected a request from the House Energy and Commerce committee for information about “every meeting, briefing or telephone call” the administration had with non-governmental parties in the lead up to, and wake of, passage of the health care law.

At least it will be entertaining to watch the Roberts court twist itself in a knot to justify why Cheney secret energy meetings = good while Obama secret insurance company/pharma meetings = bad.

Of course the disturbing thing is that the government, the MIC, the police, the CIA and so forth ARE americans… your neighbors and relatives. All of these people enable the fascism that american has become. Some make out very well and could care less… some think it’s only a matter of time before they get theirs if they play the game, some are completely blind to reality and live in a Truman show, and a few have their hair on fire and no one cares.

We ARE the government. We ARE our own oppressors.

Apparently Gaddhafi Kadaffy is to have a surprise meeting with the foreign press shortly. Richard Engle tweets:

Reporters in tripoli gathering for ‘big arrival’.. No word who.. Perhaps Qaddafi?

In tripoli.. Red carpet rolled out.. Sniffer dogs at journalists hotel ahead of mystery guest

Reporters waiting for mystery guest http://yfrog.com/h3pviovj

Told mystery guest is ‘our leader’.. qaddafi

Security tight before guest.. Told if we try to film from balconies ‘we will be shot’ by security

The ‘we would be shot’ was a warning.. Don’t surprise qaddafi’s security detail.. Don’t hide in bushes and try to film

The US should not be involved in Libya. You do realize that it is within spitting distance of Europe, right? We don’t have to do everything. How about the NATO nations do something on their own?

The last thing we need to do is endanger more misguided disenfranchised children who foolishly joined the military in hopes of having a bright future.

That Coates article is unintentionally hilarious.

The prayer-warrior he cites manages to debunk exactly nothing that Sheen claims about the abysmal failure rate of AA and similar Jebus-help-me rehab scams, provides no supporting evidence for any alternatives, and then tries to cover its wounded defensiveness with an explanation that some people just can’t handle the toughness of pleading to a sky daddy to make everything all better.
