The Animals — Please Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood, live at the NME Poll Winners Concert, 1965.
What’s on your mind?
Machine Gun – Portishead
I’m just a soul whose intentions are good…
Hey Suz!
hey mr why — how ya doing tonight?
hey ll — how’s noVA tonight?
Hey everyone, here’s some spiffy Irish bagpipes. Yes, they are different from the Scottish ones.
BDay drive by. I’ve got to be in Sunnyvale at 8:00, so can’t stay. Half a century today! .5c means time is .86 rate from a rest frame according to special relativity.
hey hannibal — how ya doing tonight?
Here’s how I feel about snow and cold right now…
‘Twas a good day in NoVA, felt good, and was productive :-) How’s it out on the OR coast?
hippo birdies two ewes
hippo birdies two ewes
hippo birdies deer wmd
hippo birdies two ewes
….. and mini s’mores…..
hey ce — ready for spring, eh… how was your day?
Just reading ET’s story on Pete Seeger joining BDS.
I keep thinking it would be great if he’d show up in Madison. Wonder if he’s sorry now re performing at Obama’s inauguration.
Doing good, things have been kind of weird lately, but doing good.
Happy half-century mark! I’m a few months ahead of you there…will be 51 this summer.
Much different sound, quite haunting and beautiful…
not so windy but still real damp. more rain is on its way — and more snow for the mts. the good news about rain is that it isn’t so cold — my current temp is about 10 degrees higher than my high one day last week
thanks. I need to get to sleep very soon, up too early tomorrow.
hey mauimom — how’s your island tonight?
Aloha, Suz and LLN Pups…! Great tune, Suz…!
both of ya are just babes still… i’ll be 57 this year
Oh that’s good (about the higher temp) — we may be in for a soaker on Sunday, the weather doods say. We do need it though.
Went to a great lecture about strange and beautiful medical museum artifacts after work. Blogger/owner of
Morbid Anatomy gave a wonderful lecture to a full house.
aloha tut – how’s paradise tonight?
well you’re old enough to be my…big sis! lol
Sorry I’ve been remiss, waving to CE, CT, and Mauimom :-)
Gloomy all day with a little rain…!
Hey LL — happy spring to you!
in other words, ya had a taste of oregon :)
Aloha, LL…!
I guess I’m the baby around here, age-wise…! ;-)
Meteorological spring, yay!
I’m sure I was a lot warmer tho…! ;-)
t-shirts and flip flops, right? ;-)
Please Lord don’t let me be misunderstood
Love this song, thanks Suz!
Happy b-day, wmd and hi everyone:)
no doubt — i’m just thankful that i’m not so cold :)
hey margot — how’s your part of ohio tonight?
evenin’ Margot :-)
its my life
No flip flops…! Altho I do own a pair, I rarely wear ‘em…! ;-)
I will now try to be more positive in Cleveland:
Today,
1. I didn’t have to wear a floor length down coat.
2. Or, my snow boots.
3. I had an outing with grownups!
4. I didn’t have to cook, but ate out at a real restaurant.
I feel wonderful!
Your hip isn’t screaming as loudly, eh…? ;-)
oh wow, from Hullaballoo — I remember that show :-) and a great tune, too.
we gotta get outta this place
What a great day for you CE :-)
tis back to its regular dull roar — thank goodness
there’s a buncha clips from it on the utubes….
yay!!!
It’s really soft and a hint of spring during the day, then chilly later on. Time to plant sweet peas, I hear people say…
Hi LL!
You did wear rubber galoshes today, tho…? You were right last night about watching for reports of flooding in Ohio today…! Pretty severe in parts, eh…?
sky pilot
Oh Hullaballoo (did I spell this correctly?) That dude was so funny in the intro.
evening, Suzzz – firegods
when i was young
Carole King “So Far Away”
I’ve played this so many times…
hey ppd — how was your day?
Hi Chris!
i forking LOVE that song ll — so powerful
hey kelly — how’s denver tonight?
Yes, and trees down and car accidents. Pretty bad. MsCE had pretty rainboots with bows, but I just skimmed over the water pools with skips and bounds.
Machine Gun, Slides.
Rudely warm. 61 today, 63 tomorrow! Wild.
Hey!!!
Margot — LLN solidarity.
i saw something on my local news last night about flooding in cleveland — i missed a lotta the details (i had been in the kitchen and saw the tail end of the story when i returned to the living room) but the video i saw was forking scary….
Oh I love that one too…
Uh oh, my sophomore year at University of Delaware showing.
Nice!
Loved Suz’s vid tonite . . . Burdon, Price, CHandler on bass and Valentine on git.
Got to see them 4 with others in some reunion gig in early 80′s . . . forget when but it was SF Civic Center . . . great show . . .
Christ, you Colorado-ens get all the nice winter weather.
Was 45 here today…
hey larue — how’s sac tonight?
Let’s play the whole songbook!
House of the Rising Sun (pre-Animals version, kinda creepy sounding!)
hey newton — how ya doing tonight?
animal style
I don’t know what really happened either, but last night there was power outage all around the city, and even in the Heights where MsCE lives. Her building was without power for sometime. No streetlights either. Just our People in Blue (wearing dayglo orange) directing traffic with flares.
heh. We’ll get the 3″ dump in March or April. You just sit tight – you’ll be happy without whatever freakstorm we get later.
Great, Suz. And if I may – great track.
thanks dood — glad ya liked it
newton!
How ’bout those Caps?
hiya CE – how’s everything in your neck of the woods?
We were supposed to get snow.
If we’re gonna get the cold, we want the snow that supposed to ride along.
We do lack the shovels, however,
pretty good, Suzzz – how’s the grandma to be?
Chiffons? Yes and no. “One Fine Day” – Carole King.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcvxU8-E55E
tis only a short reprieve from the wind — i had sustained winds of 38.5 night before last — another storm is approaching and i’m forecast to get some strong winds again
Another great one of their early one’s . . . sweet!
Like!!
Let’s do!
Oh God, look at that hair…
i’m doing ok thanks for asking :) token is under the wood stove, bailey cat is next to it and i’m happy to be wearing only one layer
3 outa the last 4 (I haven’t seen play in weeks, though).
Liking that very much. How’s things?
I just LURVE Carole King. Stupidly. I just do.
Snow melting, a great orchid show at the Botanical Garden did lift winter spirits today. And you?
About to start the rain, no winds yet . . . love the weather, Sierra’s and watersheds are doing well state wide!
Love them, always!
Since His Bobness (or his label) won’t allow his own tunes on the YouTubes, this will have to suffice:
Tomorrow Is A Long Time, in honor and remembrance of Suze Rotolo
a trip down memory lane
hiya margot
I didn’t actually see the whole thing tonight either (feeling guilty!) but understand that Ovie secured it for them in OT.
Things are good, how ’bout with you?
Me too. I just loved her spirit and her big, beautiful smile. Oh, and her music!
Gents Style, Starts Slow, Rocks!
Not stupid at all, she’s a genius!
One time, a long time ago on my first trip to NYC, I found the Brill Building and just stood in front of it for a while :-)
And damn, I can dance like that! Amazed MrCE, that fusty academic, when he saw me on the dance floor.
Winds picking up yet?
shindig
hiya PPD
happy lucky 100 ppd!!! not yet. i’ve got my hatches battened down
Very well. Looking forward to the end of spring training. I want to see our boys get the rings they earned last November.
I was thinking, I just love those Carole and JT tunes so much…I’m wondering about running a Skype salon simul to the Saturday PUAC.
Playing piano, drinking tea/coffee. could be fun.
i used to be able to dance that like…. when i was young
Dayum ya think she’s having fun?
Kewl!!!
Like the horn lick in front of Tower Of Power’s ‘You’re Still A Youn Man’, that piano lick kicking off One Fine Day is legendary . . . ahhhh Spector’s Wall Of Sound.
Great vid, thanks . .
weather dood says the winds will start to pick up after midnight
Hey, I would love to see you play the piano and sing. And I’ll bet many others here would do the same. Nice idea!
Yes!
I understand that young Mr Harper fanned twice in his first spring training appearance for the Nats. No matter, he’ll be along in a year or so :-)
Oh goddess, I did. It was a blast.
laugh laugh
The Cleveland Botanical? Been there many years ago.
Bryce Harper is the man.
18. Imagine that. 18.
Great — not only feel like 100, but get to wear the centurion medal of honor
Oh, no no no no. I would not sing.
I’m an opera fiend, but no singer. YIKES that would be TERRIBLE! Worse than Glenn Gould.
was how i stayed thin — had to give up dancing after knee surgery 4 or 5…. doctor’s orders :(
omg, just looked at Bryce Harper’s wiki — he’s 4 months younger than my niece and he’s already a multi-millionaire…
They expanded with two glasshouse environments: Costa Rica and Madagascar. Orchids everywhere for two weeks. The scent is heady, the blossoms brilliant. Wonderful lunchtime trip for me.
He sure looks and carries himself older, it seems to me. Can’t wait to see him blast some HRs out of Nats Park.
dang ce — i forking love orchids
I thought you were a singer, really! So, how would this work with Skype? I do like the music, tea and coffee components…
Think of it this way – he was born less than a month before Bill Clinton was elected President.
Dang, my jr. hi lifetime transistor radio sound track!
*G*
Man was that all badass music!
Who are the Caps?
oh good lord!
kelly’s the piano man (and organ too)
Hi Larue, the Washington Capitals – hockey :-)
mine too — i had a powder blue transistor radio that i was so proud of — i was stylin’ :)
These guys.
I lived to dance for 20 years. Now, I just watch the young ones. And speaking of knees, my supplements seem to help. I can flounce up and down stairs this year (absolutely crippled in Paris, what a damn drag).
Yep, our soundtrack from our early teens . . . the cool jerk, mashed potato, skate, the pony, and A THOUSAND more . . . (cue to someone there).
*G*
Well, I’d fire up a Skype conference call. And people could join.
One window in PUAC, another in skype. So the PUAC chat would go like normal, but screwing around musically in the coffee klatch in another.
It would be bathrobe Bach so-to-say.
tell her no
yay — i’m glad they help ya ce — i remember you talking about what a miserable trip that was
Don’t get me started on a Brit Invasion band that ran thru Clapton, Beck and Page!
Loved that band . . . Keith Relf, Chris Dreja, Paul Samwell Smyth (bass) . . . and them gits.
On of my all time favorites, Suzanne! I refused to return a CD of the Animals from a friend of ours and play it on a regular basis. [if you love me you'll let me keep this, and he did, so I did!]
hullabaloo dancers
Oh man, I LOVED those dance moves. What a tosser I was…
Yeah, count me in!
i double dog dare ya dood
what’s your name, who’s your daddy
CC Rider
hey openhope — glad ya liked it. how ya doing tonight?
OMG that sounds so fun! No too early though…cocktail hour/not competing with book salon/brunch?
sneaking in for a minute, ‘scuze please if someone already linked this, but i saw this in my twitter feed via Ryan Harvey, Faux “News” splices in footage that shows PALM TREES in the background. Riiiggghhhttt, palm trees in wisconsin in the dead of winter. ::headdesk::
Sal Valentino (also of Stoneground) lives in Sacto.
About year ago, I started goin to a Mon nite open mic he hosted at a small music store.
Great fun to chat with him about the music and scene back then . .
He was FIRED from the non paying emcee duties because he played too much himself and went outside all the time during other performances!
lol
LOVED Beau Brummels . . . still do.
Yer on phiwer tonite gal!
beat-club … geez I played this a thousand times.
long cool woman
love the Zombies!
Hockey? What’s that?
*blinksnaively*
hey ndfg — you need one of them rubber bumpers on your desk if you are gonna bang your head on it
geez, forking fox *spitting* lies again
great tunes tonight, wish I could stick around for more but I iz sleepy…thank you Suz, g’night friends!
Oh, soccer on ice with kevlar!
*G*
N about as thrilling, too!
*G*
g’nite ll
me too!
Great catch! Fox lies.
;-) g’night man!
Ciao LL!
ciao CE!
and now
*poof*
ndfg — regulators reject proposal that would bring fox like news to canada
Love the Zombies! The second 45 I bought as a tween. First was Donovan.
You’re right. Hmm timing. Have to think about/work through that.
barry
It’s definitely flaskback transistor time at LLN!
*G*
All this music reminds me that I’ve never been to a high school reunion, no matter how many times I’ve been invited. I just feel uncomfortable about going. Anyone?
That makes TWO greatest tunes of angst teen years I ever loved . .
*G*
Great Performances is on now — The Police reunion concert — Man those three guys sure create alot of musical energy.
peace love and rock and roll
;-)
Niters LL!
First 45 I bought was Penny Lane. First album was the first Doors.
i went to my 10th — it was good seeing folks i remembered as teens as adults. its not been in the cards for me to go to any since then but i’m looking forward to my 40th in 2012
Just received email invite to one in September — at least it probably won’t be snowing that early.
Oh! I LOVE them!
Don’t you love it? In Canada, as opposed to the US, news actually has to be *accurate*.
my first album was meet the beatles. i got a ‘portable record player’ meaning it was light enough to move for my birthday in 5th grade and my parents got me some albums and 45′s to get me started.
Oh Margot, Penny Lane! In my heart, and in my…
Went to my 5th one . . . ’76. Glad I did, my best friend was dead a year later up in Arcata where he had moved . . . only saw him once in between . . . I never went to another one.
Prefer my memories to remain as they were . . . about them folks and times . . .
Sigh, Mary Travers, pretty much my fav from them folkie times . . .
I must be older then you. ? Loved Penny Lane. And the Doors. But by that time I’d moved into the Alternative Society.
Yes, I’m so conflicted. Plus, going to a girls Catholic academy was so strange.
hehehe thought you would like that
CE — you can probably stream it off PBS GP website, or watch for the rebroadcast in your market.
*bows*
Dang, I caught up and it ain’t even midnite yet!
CT would be proud!
*G*
chuck
ROFLMFAO
got a solution for ya — pick any high school, and go to their reunion instead. Who recognizes anyone after all these years anyway, eh?
run for your life
Sorry to say, I missed them.
LMBO!
Heh! I could go to my kid’s school here! Funny, there is a reunion here every summer of a middle school at a nearby restaurant. Middle School. Who still lives in the same community that shared middle school (grades 6-8)? Pretty funny.
I barely went to high school, let alone the social crap. It was 1968-1972 and I had no interest in establishment bullshit. Also had a connection to the administration office and just kept forging re-admit slips. It was in the hay days of Defense [aerospace] moving westward, so many new suburbs, so little control over the kids. Went to the SoCal beaches instead and talked and read philosophy.
Good thing. I’d be all fucked up otherwise.
Chris, come to my reunion this summer with me. We’d have a blast.
i’m a man
Canada’s got some strange ideas about what is and isn’t in the public interest, margot http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lf1YAznsnVA
Had NO idea they ever covered that one!
*shock*
I’m one year older. You come too!
OMG that would be too funny! Could I be president of the class?
check out PBS.org — they may have this GP available online. It’s worth a click or two.
my fav tunes seemed to be either british invasion or motown/r&b. now that i’m older, i see they had a lot more in common that i realized at the time
That, is the most strange story ever, REALLY! You just didn’t go to school?
Bravo PPD! Everyone, this is a great clip.
:] No thank you. I’m allergic.
Oh no, I think he’s the bigwig who’s helping organize this, but you could definitely be Somebody.
FUCK i did it again
I HATE to leave, but I have to get up in five hours to work a nine hour day.
Great LLN, thanks Suzanne and all Pups. See you Wed. LLN.
Not sure I’ll be going to mine — I can only take so much Thomas Friedman worship — distinguished villager ideologue — alumnus.
Um, no, Kevin is the piano man.
Yuo’re doing it on purpose. >:-D
I only went enough times to not be noticed that I wasn’t there. Our school, Fountain Valley High School, was the first mega school experiment. 4200 students. I also graduated early!! In January instead of June, because I had my credit requirements.
Aside from you hitting the deuce . . .
Yeah, they had a lot in common . . . dance AND the music which the Brits loved to death (that old R&B) of 50′s n 60′s . . . . nice observation there . . .
g’nite ce
OK last thought — when is our next fuck thread?
I’m out — kisses all!
It answers the question no one is willing to ask in America — Just what kind of world are we willing to be responsible for?
hey that guy — kevin is da bomb dood — how ya doing tonight?
Geebuz, ronkin it hoss!
Don’t blame yourself. It’s just what happens. :] Buy a lottery ticket.
well done, Suzzz — I’m not ready for the Davis Double tonight.
grrrrr
the next fuck thread is when ya’ll decide to have one
Doing ok, played a gig, winding down. Might have to have a small brownie.
Kevin McKendree is BAD ASS!
Ok, gotta znooze . . . thanks for a LIFETIME of vids Suz . . . xtry special tonite.
Same Pups, thanks for tunage and chattage.
Stay warm, dry, safe and hub ‘em close . . .
g’nite larue
We have a struggle between what is practical (government-run care wins easily there) and our Puritanical, pioneer streak which is of the “he that doesn’t work, doesn’t eat” variety.
california
so tired
edit: whoops, wrong link.. try this one
Sweet dreams, Christine. I’m so ready for a fuck thread. As opposed to some recent threads taken over by wankers where I quietly say, “oh,fuck. fuck me to tears. get these fuckers out of here, oh yeah, fucking free speech”
shalalalala
Played a gig with your new singer. How’s that going?
its up to ya’ll… any lln thread is a fuck thread when ya’ll make it one
Well, America get its manifest destiny exceptionalism complex ripped from its cold dead hands when the next crash takes down everything that hasn’t been stolen already.
Naah, this was a fill-in gig with another band. Band starts up again this weekend.
Yeeee haaww. The light buld was poping in the old grey matter today. An idea i had been working on for months came today in a flash of glory. The design is simple, tastful, within the bounds of what machines we have and is marketable outside the state. I been doin Snoopy dances around the house for hours. Cant say more till i secure the design but life at the end of the road is nice tonight.
hey homeroid — how’s homer tonight?
Every step you take — great song. That album would have swept the grammies except for the misfortune of its release the same year as MJ’s Thriller.
Hey y’all, I’m fading, see ya next time.
g’nite that guy
If we look closer at the dogma of our image as America, it’s Manifest Destiny, has nothing to do with “individualist strength”. And we are screwed. We are the next Red Men.
Rock on, ThatGuy. Music is the message.
i’ll be watching you
I agree, I hope we have some soup kitchens at least…hard times
Koch Calls Dore Gets Spocko – http://bit.ly/e5wFcz via @spockosbrain
Check it out if you haven’t heard it yet. Suzanne said it was funny.
wind’s blowing hard now, Suzzz — rain’s a’comin’
hey spocko — it is — i tweeted it and facebooked it :)
how ya doing tonight?
got your hatches all battened down?
It’s going to take alot to drive a stake through the heart of Reagan’s sociopathic exceptionalism doctrine, OH
We’ll see if all of the blossoms on the early flowering fruit trees are still hanging in there in the morning.
Wow, I went for a smoke break and hadn’t read your comment when I proposed Manifest Destiny. Right on.
Except for the “we are screwed” part. Which we are. But, why should we be any different than any other common people in history? We just had a few decades of prosperity for the common citizen, which made us a beacon of hope.
Lights out, unless we refuse this scenario.
i’ve got daff bulbs getting ready to bloom on the deck. hope those pots don’t get blown over — i had a pot blow onto its side during monday’s blow. luckily it wasn’t a daff pot
I’m good. I now have 54 views. I’m practically a viral sensation!
A good analogy, OH — the bottom 95% of the country went out for a smoke break and came back to find life as they knew it — gone, gone, gone.
it got good reviews on facebook :)
I wont be going to sleep any time soon. And cannot sit at drafting desk any more. Will check out the tunes here tonight as a calm down. Not every day does a great idea come along and whack you in the head.
sounds like ya had a most excellent day dood :) the music tonight has been a wonderful trip down memory lane — hope ya enjoy it as much as i did
’bout time for me to turn back into a pumpkin folks. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight — and thank you for sharing all that great music.
g’nite all.
This is probably going to be uncool…but, I found a butcher who comes to your house and I’m researching piglets for spring. It’s a go.
I’m not going to be able to pretend they’re not jovial animals, good tempered and full of fun. Because they’re so intelligent. I’m going to love them, raise them in a great environment, call the butcher in 10 months.
And then go into therapy. Until the box of meat comes back, with the most awesome ham, bacon, Canadian bacon, chops…………..
night Suzzz — stay away from the tree branches
You would think so, but the rich have convinced the middle class that they should be jealous of other middle class people rather than the rich. Astonishing, but it works because we are all future lottery winners and all going to strike it rich. So when I make millions I don’t want to pay taxes.
Today I heard some jerk on mark levin talking about how regulation is killing businesses. Of course big business get away from regulation. I wanted to call him and ask what kind of regulations we can get rid of. Food? Safety? Enviromental?
He will just call me a dope and hang up. Not worth it n
Sweet dreams, Suz. Buy a lottery ticket. Just saying……………
Just don’t name them!
That doesn’t sound uncool to me.
Yeah, ignorance is a bitch. It’s also American.
It doesn’t matter if you name them because that’s what the human mind does anyway. We just do it, whether it’s Sammy or One Spot. I’ve thought this through and realized that while they’re here, they’re my charges and I may as well accept the full truth. That way I can have fun with them, making mud bath puddles and scratching their backs. They LOVE having their backs scratched. Death is the end of the road for us all, so what the hell?
It’s gonna hurt at butcher time.
I never name my potato plants. I am an omnivore. Should i connect to my source to much i would have to end up a breathairian. Not even sure how to spell that as i have not even seen the word for 40 years.
You haven’t seen it because no one but a super model can live on breath. I don’t name my potato plants other than Red or Russet, but that names them. :]
I’m watching the spiderman cast sing amsong on Letterman. It is terrible.
I have all kinds of names while swatting bugs and sweating.
I don’t name my meat chickens because they all look alike and are gone in 10 weeks. But, I do croon “hey, baby, shhh, shhh,” as I take them to the killing yard.
I can’t find the link, but saw this earlier today:
A billionaire, tea partier and a public employee union member are sitting around a table with a dozen cookies on a plate in the center. The billionaire pockets eleven cookies, then leans over to the tea partier and says, “Watch out, that other guy is trying to steal part of your cookie.”
LOL!
night all – be well
There is something about 3:00 A.M.
