Well, not everyone defected apparently.
With escalating hostilities bringing Libya closer to civil war, Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi’s forces struck back at his opponents on three fronts, with special forces, regular army troops and, rebels said, fighter jets.
But it is not going all that well for Qaddafi, amazing how bombing your citizenry (literally and or right now in this country figuratively) undermines a leader’s support, not that reality matters.
In an interview with ABC News, Colonel Qaddafi said he was fighting against “terrorists,” and he accused the West of seeking to “occupy Libya.” He gave no hint of surrender. “My people love me,” he said. “They would die for me.”
They certainly are.
Obviously recall petitions are a better way.

and yes, goodbye Gaddafi and to all those who want to stifile free will and the voice(s) of the people!
He learned well from the American system of killing people till they love us.
I hope that Secretary Clinton and President Obama are listening to Secretary Gates when he said that anyone who suggests we go in for another round of nation building should have their head examined. I feel for the brave Libyans seeking self-determination for their country, but a use of outside military force cannot come to a desirable end in the long run. On whose behalf and for what ends would such force be used? Initially limited means and ends rarely stay limited when a super power commits its military to such an endeavor. The oil is dragging us down another rabbit hole I fear.
On behalf of the oil conglomerates for the ends of excess profits and unbridled greed.
Good morning, pups. It’s Brooks and Herbert this morning. Bobo has the answer. Well, Bobo has an answer. Seeing that it’s Bobo it’s the wrong answer. In “The New Normal” he gurgles that since we have to cut the deficit, we might as well learn to do it wisely. Starting with education. (Funny how they never mention land wars in Asia and bloated defense budgets, isn’t it?) I have a feeling that this column will be catnip for Doghouse Riley as well… Mr. Herbert, in “Unintended, But Sound Advice,” says Lewis Powell’s advice to the corporate community in 1971 is sound advice for American workers today.
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got apple walnut muffins that are still nice and warm. As I predicted, Bobo’s column last week about Mitch Daniels was an irresistible target for Doghouse Riley. His take-down is a thing of great beauty, and you can find it here. Have a great day.
As education obviously did not work with him he sees no use in it for anyone else.
Good morning Marion…good citizen of forward thinking Georgia.
Thanks Marion, especially for sparing us the excruciating experience of plowing thru Bobodom for ourselves. Of course, cutting taxes and therefore putting the corporate welfare advocates to work for themselves would be so unproductive…
Doghouse Riley’s wife (who he refers to as My Poor Wife) is a teacher — I can’t wait to see what he has to say about this column of Bobo’s!
How do we recall the Koch brothers?
Didn’t Quaddafi, Gaddafi, Khaddafi….whatever! say the protesters were on hallucinogens? Well, now we know he was projecting.
And what’s with all this talk out of DC about making Libayan skies a “no fly zone”? You know, like we did for 10 years to Saddam. Damn!
Marion, how did Brooks come to be known as ‘Bobo’?
Since China and Russia are against a no-fly zone, Hillary is now selling the idea to NATO. How will that go? Easier than the Scurity Council, I’d wager. Too much ‘prepositioning’ of carriers and other resources ‘just in case Obama orders’ some undetermined something.
For all those pointing out that the main message from Libyans seems to be ‘No interference from foreign powers’, many of the same people are asking for a no-fly zone.
Morning poll of the relief agencies:
MSF (Doctors w/o Borders)
IFRC Tunisia border article
IFRC Malta Population movement report
IFRC North Africa civil unrest report
ICRC call for safe access from the West
UN OCHA Situation report 1
Islamic Relief UK
UNHCR Report
OK, so apparently Doctors without frontiers is inside Libya, folks recognize that there are trouble areas on the Libyan/Tunisian border and steps are being taken and that the UN is involved.
So apparently what you were hoping to have happen is happening.
It still does not obviate the initial premise of Siun’s post and the initial responses to you nor does it obviate your refusal to learn something about someone you attacked immediately as not knowing what he was talking about.
So we’re both correct and we’re both wrong.
Note to Qadaffi: It’s time to send in the Lanny Davis reserve unit.
That’s my contribution, dakine01. Take it or leave it. I didn’t attack him, he attacked me. Go back and read the record.
