For the low, low price of $20 billion, the Administration proposes, banks could be excused for the abundant mortgage fraud they’ve committed. But $20 billion won’t even begin to compensate those victims of fraudulent appraisals for the fraud committed on them.

When The Quitter endorsed Nikki Haley in the Republican primary for South Carolina governor, Erick Erickson called it “huge news” — and it arguably put her over the top in the race. Now, when asked by Jake Tapper if she’ll “return the favor” by endorsing The Quitter (start watching around 5:08) — Haley’s response?

MADISON, WI (FDL) – The Governor of Wisconsin, Scott Walker, ordered the Capitol police to close the Capitol building at 4:00pm today, just a few hours from now. Protesters who have occupied the building for 14 days, with no arrests, have been prepared for this eventuality, and have devised a number of strategies to combat this. Tom, a graduate student who has been leading the continuous protests inside the Rotunda for several days, had a phone number written in black marker on his arm last night. When I asked him what it was, he explained it was the number of the lawyer who would help him out after he got arrested.

Nothing changes. The Class War is over, and the rich won. Time to hide under the fur and suck as much from the beast as possible, and get away from it.

“All men are created equal.” Ostensibly, this is the American creed. But most of the conservative agenda flows from an essential belief in human inequality. Oh, conservatives pay a lot of empty lip service to the Declaration of Independence and to the notion of individual freedom. What they really want is to codify a political great chain of being with them at the top and the less worthy stuck in and pacified in their places.

Whoo boy. Think back to how loudly the mighty wurlitzer argued that Scooter Libby should not be indicted for lying. And imagine how much louder it will be if Roger Ailes–a cornerstone of Republican success–were indicted for telling Judith Regan to do the same?

MADISON, WI (FDL) – As you may know by now, as many as 100,000 people gathered in Capitol Square in Madison yesterday for a rally for workers’ rights (the media really doesn’t want to give those 6-figure numbers, so more commonly we’ve seen 70,000, but I heard the Madison Police spokesman utter 100,000 personally). I understand that if your media diet is restricted to the cable nets, you may not have heard the news, but there’s plenty of great coverage elsewhere. Most important, the people of Wisconsin know what happened in their state yesterday. And regardless of the publicity, what’s happening here has sparked a new conversation around the country about the basic rights of workers and the importance of organized labor.

We all want “someone” to “DO something” for the people of Libya. Watching the reports of Gadaffi’s brutality, the fear that Gadaffi will go even further grows.

But “do” what?
