I continue to be baffled by all the love New Jersey’s Republican governor Chris Christie’s getting among the chattering class. Here’s a typically fawning piece about his speech at AEI yesterday.
The speech was titled “It’s Time to do the Big Things,” and Christie suggested the items that Obama called for as “investments” in his State of the Union address were “not the big things” that need Washington’s focus.
“Ladies and gentlemen, that is the candy of American politics,” Christie declared, adding that it appeared to be a “political strategy” – or game of budgetary chicken – that both Republicans and Democrats are playing.
“My children’s future and your children’s future is more important than some political strategy,” he said.
“Big things” to Christie simply means less money for old people, children, and the poor.
See, like Christie, I too am concerned about my children’s future, but I don’t happen to think slashing public education budgets is the way to make them brighter. I don’t believe that consigning them to fossil-fuel burning automobiles is a particularly effective way to ensure a better future for them either — especially while simultaneously cutting taxes for millionaires.
Aside from the fact that he’s a rather large Irish-Italian man, and has a knack for the bullying soundbite, I see nothing at all unique about Christie.
Am I missing something?

About Firedoglake
Looks like Christie does a lot of big things for lunch.
We have a competition between states.
California v. Texas.
And breakfast and dinner.
Nope! He’s a politician.
I’m sure Christie’s idea of doing big things is putting on his pants. Or getting out of bed. Or masturbating (he’s doing himself, get it?).
Nope. I think you’ve pretty much got it dialed in…
Yes, you are missing something. Christie scares me and I don’t agree with anything he says, but pay attention to HOW he says it. He really is like Reagan. If he doesn’t screw it up, he will be our next president. If he gets what he wants, there are many, many people who will be hurt by his policies, but his statements and speeches are done with conviction. He makes you believe that he believes in what he is saying. That’s confidence and leadership and he has boatloads of it. Doesn’t matter what he does, what matters is how he says it. Really, I can’t stand him but most people are not engaged in political details as we are and will not see beyond his style.
ROTFLMAOFF! Okay, I started to be sick, then I became sick with laughter.
It would really be hard, specially when arms and eyes can’t reach that far.
I’ll bet he holds his belly out of the way with one hand, and…
That’s just wrong. Funny, though. heh
It’s Politico.
SugarHoneyIcedTea!
Parents version of SheeeIT!
No, you’re not missing anything. I’m always alert to the moment supporters get burned and yelp, “Not fair.” I asked a neighbor what she thought of Christie and she replied, “Sometimes you have to be a little [pause] harsh.” Wait till harsh gets to her.
So easy when it’s the other guy. And soooooooooooooooooo stupid. Like the Wisconsin Republican state worker who was quoted “never expected……” Oh, really? What were you hearing? Maybe we hear differently, do you think? Serves you right!
In the longer run, discrimination isn’t discrete.
Right you are!
Christie reminds me of one of these…
You are exactly right! I’ve had friends tell me how sorry they were that I didn’t have a job, but it didn’t really hit them about the situation until they got laid off.
Nobody is in full force for the 99ers or long term unemployed. It may very well happen to those that are ignoring it.
he scares me too — verry smooth
LOL! An evil Smurf?
Dem Senators in Wisconsin walk out, denying Republicans a quorum. Republican Senator orders state police, (which his father is in charge of, thanks to appointment be Walker), so the Dems leave the state. This is getting good.
You are missing the fact that if they give Christie this much buzz, they ain’t got no bench depth. And their bench is barely an inch off the ground.
He has that Reagan-esque ‘national security’ appeal: his underwear can be deployed in a low-space orbit as a deficit-friendly missile defense shield.
Wow! Best thing the Dems could do. No legislation can take place without a quorum. The bad thing is the police. I wonder if they will actually do anything against the citizens and supporters.
Interesting. The Republican president might have to call out the FBI to round them all up.
Is this getting any play on the teevee in the lone star state?
Chris Christie’s idea of “Doing big things?”
Why that’d be what his poor wife is subjected to between the sheets!
Hey Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
ha! Another SugarHoneyIcedTea comment! Funny, funny.
What youre missing is the state in which hes governor. NJ is a shithole filled with mindless sheeple. I know because i live there although ill be moving out within a year or so. When you live there for a while then it all makes perfect sense.
Chris Cristie is twice the man you are. Or three times. /s
The FBI? Oh no, they won’t do that. They will call up some of those cyber security firms that Marcy writes about to get them. Seriously, this country is nothing more than comic relief for others to view. It’s like a daily sit-com, but the sad thing is it is real.
His appeal right now is that he seems *decisive.” Guess who isn’t perceived in that way ?
Where are the organizers for 99er rallies? There are millions of 99ers now, it should be fairly simple to organize protests and sit-ins.
Christie is an arrogant asshole.
But, again, because Oilbummer is weak, it’s easy for these hard right freaks to get away with their class warfare. Plus, I really don’t think Oilbummer cares for the working person anyway, heart of hearts. Like duh, right?
I think the police were sent to corral the Dem senators back to office. Hence the reason they’re leaving the state. Outside of jurisdiction and whatnot.
Jerry Brown and Andrew Cuomo are sounding a lot like Christie these days. When the money runs out, the toy ideologies get left behind.
Really? I get more of a Humpty Dumpty vibe
No idea. I don’t watch local news and I don’t live in or near Houston. I am, however from the Houston area and the fact that HPD is brutal and criminal is news that is at least as old as I am. I was a teen during the Herman Short years.
Two words. Jersey Shore. ‘Nuff said.
The horse isn’t buying it.
You bet, jagoff. No nepotism there. Nothing to see. Move on…
Another state rivalry — New Jersey v. Florida.
Christie just shut down the tunnel project. Florida’s Rick Scott just matched him, killing the high speed rail project.
Yeah. Thanks for clarifying that. I knew there had to be a reason, it is just really stupid he is going this far.
It would be if 99ers had gas money. We can’t even afford to leave home.
The political chat shows are overstocked with very wealthy republican people and it shows.
There is no left in the US, that’s the problem. One that fights against the fat cats, without excuses. The pols are interchangeable. Dem, Repug. None of them want to raise taxes on the filthy rich. This is why working people are getting targeted. Jerry Brown is a right winger in any other country.
ROFL!!!! Ya, Exactly!!! The one thing my area has going for it is that im near the shore and theres a growing triathlon population. A sport which ive recently gotten involved with which has alot of cool people in it. Even if some of them are conservatives. Fortunately for the most part there isnt talk about politics all that much.
It sounded like it came as no surprise to anyone from the Houston area.
The video is pretty amazing though. The cops looked they were really getting their rocks off kicking the 15-year old kid in the head.
Reminds me of Texas a few years back. Didn’t they have to do the same to keep the crazy repugs from doing ugly stuff?
I hope he keeps going. The people of Wisconsin aren’t going to let him off the hook. If he sends police or Nat’l Guardsmen out to protests sites, that’ll be the end of his term in office.
NJ and Florida have a really weird connection. My sister and brother in law moved there 4 years ago so now im forced to follow the happenings there and its serious bizarro to see the similiarities between the two.
Of what state can’t that be said? And when the parties are so functionally and legislatively similar, what’s the point, at all? I love NJ. Too expensive for me, really, and I’ll have to re-locate near future, but it’s a great state and I’ll be sorry to leave. Born and raised PA, BTW. Too bourgeois for my tastes now. Guy I worked with supplied that word when I was pondering just the right adjective to explain my reluctance to move closer to work. NJ is more down to earth.
Allocate their shares to other states, and then watch the blowback. Fuck ‘em.
Reminds me of when the Dems did the same thing in Texas to stop reapportionment. They sent the Texas Rangers after them IIRC.
Christie’s ideas sound like Obama’s actions – and his goals sound as pure as the goals Obama used to defeat Hillary.
It would be a hard choice to chose between fat Irish Italian immigrant Obama and the rather thin and taller old school English (mother daughter of Madelyn Lee Payne and Stanley Armour Dunham) white 50% Obama with the tan from an African father.
Indeed since the deeds would be the same – I don’t have to make the choice.
They were doing it out of anger, and for vengeance. That shit is sick and those people should be prosecuted. Not only that, but there needs to be a major overhaul of their entire department.
I havent read much of what Jerry Browns been saying exept that ya he sounds like a republican. Isnt the reason he was elected to move away from that. Then again California is seriously seriously screwed up because of long term damage the republicans caused to the state. And of course the dems didnt exactly help the cause.
You left something out. The kid was black, and the cops were all white.
It is obvious from his appearance that Bag O’ Donuts Christie has already done the big things. Geesh. His mouth is as big as the rest of him. Just anoth
California did a bad thing when they agreed to recall Governor Gray.
I was born here and lived elsewhere for a while before moving back here for various reasons. Some people like it. I dont. Yes its getting very expensive but the issue with that is that you get nothing for it. But hey i wasnt questioning whether people are allowed to like it i was just saying that its not a surprise at all that christie is the governor. Oh and to say that every place is like NJ is a very NJ thing to say. Because im sorry but not every place is like NJ. There are places that are ALOT better then here. It depends what youre looking for though.
Sounds fair.
too fat no chance
Well the good news is there is no inflation! Just think the social program cuts that would have to be made if there was….
“The question is whether we are seeing a limited pass-through of commodity price hikes or the beginnings of an inflationary spiral. Wages will be the thing to watch — there won’t be an inflationary spiral unless wage inflation picks up.”
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/41625436/ns/business-eye_on_the_economy/
See how that works? Price increases across the board is not inflation. But if the big ol’ corporations are generous and give you a raise? Yikes! Then we are doomed because interest rates can’t go any lower to control it…….ok, that was half snark.
Some of these comments are juvenile and embarrassing. Pot shots concerning his weight are out of line.
Roger.
Shit. I haz a sad :(
No, wait! Does that mean larger bonuses for Wall Street execs will send us into an inflationary spiral?
US wages haven’t kept up to SOL ratios in 40 years.
So, where else? Specifically?
Have you seen this slug diss teachers before? I saw him on a You Tube video talking down to a teacher, and it was disgusting. He deserves everything he gets and more.
Agreed.
Didn’t help that it was almost invited either.
“a rather large Irish-Italian man”
Sorry but no they arent. Hes a fat miserable shit whos destroying peoples lives. Its sickening to live here and hear the lies and absolute garbage hes spewing. There are a few dems here and there that tell it like it is with this asshole. But im sorry being politically correct with people like this is ridiculous.
You are right. His weight has nothing to do with his mental state and leadership.
It was just funny at the moment.
That doesn’t count. They rule, we drool.
Figure it out for yourself. DIfferent places work for different people. Theres the southwest seattle new york. Hell san fran is actually very liberal. Oh and portland. Although i would never live there.
get over it,his appearance is gluttonous, period
Well, then.
I haz a sad :( No more raises for the little people.
Let me tell you a story from 1975:
A friend of mine was at the home of his older brother and there was some pot smoking going on. They were all standing around, in the driveway when the police pulled up. My friend got smart with them, a bad idea but not worthy of the response. The cops beat his head in with flashlights, rendering him mentally disabled for life. He was 15. When the case came to court, the judge refused to view the pictures of the kid’s head, or the car against which his head was beaten in. As he was about to throw the case out due to “lack of evidence”, my friend’s brother came into the court carrying the hood of his car, upon which the blood and matted clumps of hair from my friend was still stuck. The judge threw him in jail for contempt of court. The police towed and scrapped his car and then they beat his head in while in custody. No, I don’t suppose anybody in Houston is surprised.
How is it picking on him? Where does an overweight, mentally inferior piece of monkey crap, get the idea in his peabrain, that he can lecture anyone about anything? Perhaps, Mr Christie You Make Good Cookies should be forced to live on as little as the poor for a few months. Maybe then he’ll be able to see that weewee he prob hasn’t seen in decades.
Guessing that if Christie were a woman, no one would object to dissing her about being fat.
looks are part of the package, why do you think congresscritters dye their hair and ,spend 100,000 on theeir fake smiles?
A bit like leaving out the rapist crowd in Egypt yelling “JEW, JEW” as the men raped her (from the Boston Herald ““[60 Minutes] correspondent Lara Logan was repeatedly sexually assaulted by thugs yelling, ‘Jew! Jew!’ as she covered the chaotic fall of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Cairo’s main square Friday.”
Powerful reporting on an important story. Two problems: It didn’t run until yesterday, and CBS didn’t run it. The quote is from the New York Post. And it was The Wall Street Journal that reported “the separation and assault lasted roughly 20 to 30 minutes.”).
*modnote: please provide links to quoted material.*
Not only that but he lies about teachers all of the time. Blames EVERYTHING on them and basically believes they serve no purpose at all and should live in poverty. Again hes a self centered arrogant prick of the highest order. I have started wathcing local news a bit especially when theres a decent dem on and the other day one of them was talking about the tunnel project saying christie was taking all of the credit for things that have been worked on for years by many peoples. Hes a disgusting individual.
Yes I have seen him in action. I don’t care for his behavior either.
Ouch. No wonder people are jealous of our freedums (TM)
true,its a newbie
True! I admit I went along and said some stuff. Like I said above, his weight has nothing to do with his mental state which I find in poor condition. :-)
Just got an email from Gov Cuomo (NYS-DINO, just elected). Sounds exactly like Christie. So I returned it with a message: What make you different from the generic Republican.
Why does his head look so peewee in comparison to his body?
“It’s Time to do the Big Things..”
Like the ARC Tunnel ?
What I specifically DON’T want to know is what size shoe he wears.
I doubt it very much. This is Wisconsin, not Texas or, god forbid, Egypt.
There is no doubt that Christie doesn’t have the appearance of a typical politician. That’s not an insult.
I could also point out the time when my skull was fractured with a brick thrown and then repeatedly wielded as a cudgel by somebody who hated me for being trans. I was arrested for “disturbing the peace”. The theory was that since the guys who did the bashing were making threats at me while on my way too the store, I should have gone half a mile out of my way when coming home from the store. So it was my fault, see? I never got charged with a crime but I was kept in jail until the next morning and then released and made to walk home, (about five miles), without medical treatment for my fractured skull.
That’s HPD after they were supposedly cleaned up by Fred Hofeinz
You must remember that the repugs along with Gates and Buffet are on an expidition to privatize all schools. They will either be Charter schools supported by corporations or individually owned/operated. They have reason to put the big HATE on teachers. It is all about money and power, just like everything else they do.
Guessing right.
Not to go OT but there are interesting develpoments in Wisconsin folks.
Now, I would agree with you if I was a journalist or television pundit. But I’m just an idiot in the comment section on a blog.
Christie is easy to make fun of because he’s an evil prick. Yeah, it’s juvenile, but it’s cathartic.
Wow. My head’s spinnning from that. And then, I’m guessing that’s probably not an atypical case.
Don’t think I’ll be vacationing in Houston anytime soon.
Actually to give Gates and Buffet a little credit they have repeatedly asked to have their taxes raised and donate alot of money to charity. Well Gates donates money. However we are stuck in this right wing/libertarian mentality where the aristocrats are in charge. Its just sad.
Not that big. Stop being sanctimonious.
It’s one of my side little amusements. So much commentary about female pols is about their appearances, and so much of it is unflattering, I try to make sure to return the favor the males.
You believe stuff that comes from Rupert Murdoch’s rags?
Its sad that this whole deficit crap is becoming the norm. This morning when i was at my gym in the locker room they had MSNBC on with Morning Joe. Who had on some college students for fiscal responsibility garbage. They simply spewed the same idiotic crap that Christie and Obama and all of these people are spewing. Whats perplexing is the idea that tax payers shouldnt invest in things that will benefit …taxpayers. Huh? Also they dont give a timeline for how long this austerity will last.
And don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good™ (get a drug test too)
Meh. With the exception of a scant handful of medical conditions a person’s weight is one of the things about themselves they have specific control over. In my opinion it’d be more out of line to make fun of his intellect, because he can’t do anything about how stupid he is.
It’s very difficult to be that obese. You have to constantly overeat and be exceptionally sedentary.
It’s more than sad, it’s stupid. We have to stop supporting corporatism or it will only get worse for us.
The austerity will last until morale improves.
What’s even crazier is that folks from Mexico and Central America are risking their lives to live here. Just imagine how bad it must be where they’re coming from!
I hadn’t heard anything about her assailants screaming “Jew” at her. That sounds like bullshit to me.
Agreed. :-)
“Hi, my name’s Barack. I’m going to slash your social security by 30%. Don’t let the perfect get in the way of the good™. Now here’s a cup, pee in this.”
Christie is an hyper aggressive snot. Always has been, I gather. The act appeals to some people. And his Dem opponent was really a…..words fail me. Corzine elected Christie. Whitman elected Jerry Brown, Fiorina elected Boxer. Happens pretty frequently. Problem is, the lesser of two evils is still evil: they’re all going in the same direction, some faster, some slower.
He could have a glandular condition.
And people have a lot of control over how stupid they are. It’s both nature & nurture on that score.
The whole story smells fishy.
It will last until people wake up and fight against it. Which with this country could be a while as its a very lazy country.
It’s possible, which is why I included the caveat. It’s just incredibly unlikely actuarially
aka, your standard bully. Lotsa folks luv them sum bullies.
Yeah, I’ve thought about that. Reports are they’re going back home or staying home these days.
Listen, I am sympathetic to people that are overweight. My sister has PCOS and has had a lifetime of weight problems. However, she is not in front of the camera downing the citizens of her state and trying to pull anything they have left to negotiate a living from them.
Very true. And ya the lesser of two evils only goes so far. Weve had that in presidential elections for a long time now and it will continue until people really start demanding substance from their parties or stop voting for them.
Yes, a lot of this is about context, isn’t it.
And as soon as Mexico gets rid of its wingnut prez, the reverse illegal migration will turn into a flood. Retirees first.
It sure is! I said it, and I admit it. Like you said above, it is pertinent when he is front and center. He is using his lack of control to control others.
They’re are as many Mexicans coming over, but the poorest of the poor from Central and South America are still headed to el Norte.
You can go a long way in life with that act. Some of its appeal is in the human need for certainty, I think. That was a great deal of Bush’s appeal, and Reagan’s. They KNEW. They DECLARED what they KNEW. I have learned to back away from the type but I find myself almost alone doing so.
Colombia is a much more pleasant destination.
ROTFLMAO 707
oh but that was funny
Ya. Im involved with technology and technology business and its astonishing to see how many people see arrogance and egomania as skill and talent. So when someone is an asshole they are lawded as a great leader instead of just an asshole which is what they are. Its perplexing but it is human nature.
looks count…cept for Mr. Gargoylespan
I’ve had bosses like that. When push came to shove, they knew squat. But man could they ramble on how intelligent they were. Bullshit artists.
loved when little Ronnie Raygun liberated the concentration camps…( in his addled head)
Sick thing is I found out my cousin is a big Christie supporter. He appeals to angry white men who are losing out economically.
Now why the hell can’t the left appeal to this demographic? It used to. Except we are burdened with Obama technocratic yuppie liberalism which is pro-corporate and socially liberal. Populism would bring these angry white men back.
Come over here & sit by me.
I’ve told the story before, but the biggest bully I ever personally knew, Leon Cooperman,* was my boss’s boss at Goldman Sachs. He once accused me of bullying him. I took it as a badge of honor.
*He’s lost a lot of weight since the days when I knew him, when he was at least as fat as Christie.
ya shoulda left Famous Amos pecan choc chips around
People taking offense at size slander…
well…I live in Jerzey and Christie the Cretin is a disgusting, fat, mean spirited, evil, despicable piece of shite, and is an embarrassment to all folk of Irish and Italian descent. My nickname for him is “Bacon Rind” and if you live here you soon find out he gets ALL the bacon and the rest of the residents get the floor scraps.
He has personally cost my aged Mom, my son-in-law, and daughter lots of pain with his ‘little people’ hatred and his belt tightening bullshit. He ought to tighten his own fucking belt and leave his political bullshite behind…BUT…
he is a poster boy for the type of politicians and assholes that Amerika the decaying republic loves. He should join up with Rush boy and they can have dominion over the serfs while they play who can out consume the other…Amerikan style!
If you don’t live here and know what he has done to real people in Jerzey, then please shut it!
So you were speaking to his “uniqueness”? Sure, I can go there. Can you agree that the “average voter” would find him to be an appealing candidate based solely on those soundbites? Informed people on liberal blogosphere, of course not, but others will see leadership qualities. I have vague memories of Reagan but I do recall is that many felt Reagan was a strong leader when compared with Jimmy Carter. Obama is no Reagan in terms of how his leadership is perceived. I wish he had a little of that Reagan aura (yes, he had it then), but I dare say Obama wouldn’t put it to good use.
Heh. Don’t know what his particular food weakness was, but I coulda found out. I traveled a lot with his second.
I don’t give a shit. The news today is out of Wisconsin. That’s where our children’s future is being fought: by teachers, labor, high school students, parents, university students, and the citizens of Wisconsin.
I am just baffled by the stupidity of the masses. They eat up this guys bullshit. They eat up that the real problem is state debt and social programs. They don’t see that it was the rich fraudsters that have caused all this, but instead, get mad at each other because “hey that guy over there has more benefits than I do and I work harder”….how ludicrous….you know one thing? If unions actually had REAL leadership, the entire US (and probably most western nations) right now are beyond ripe for signing up new membership. Seriously. It was the same way when old senile Raygun started this union attack in the 80s…and the union leadership did? Nothing!
There should be a NONE OF THE ABOVE line on ballots. Then not voters could make their opinions explicit and wouldn’t have to put up with the lazy and irresponsible castigations. Not voting is a choice! A selection! Of course, the pros would throw themselves in front of any such proposal. My god, the incontestability of it all: YOU SUCK writ large.
And who gives a sh*t that he’s an overweight pig. An *sshole is an *sshole. Many overweight people have serious problems, but they aren’t *ssholes. This man is. What, is it going to hurt his feelings? Newflash…he doesn’t have any.
I suppose I like to think my side is a bit more thoughtful than theirs, which kind of helps me explain the logic of why we care about humanity and they don’t seem to.
OK, Alice. I’ll be right there.
bingo
those are hard to turn down
I don’t have any brownies, though. *g*
I blame religion mostly. Always said that the Puritans were to blame for most of our problems. This is a selfish country. Always has been. Sometimes it gets better, most of the time not. But people have to lose something (like now) for them to start acting humanely. Americans are, by and large, not a very nice people, despite outward appearances.
I knew of a woman who pulled off the perfect murder by cooking up a confectioner’s heaven for a gluttonous, abusive husband. Took some years but his immense frame finally toppled into the grave and her whole life changed–for the huge better, of course. Her former daughter-in-law was so happy for her.
I’ve had them. You’re right.
But ever since I started doing more cooking a couple of years ago, I prefer all my cookies to anything store bought, even my plainest ones. Think it’s the butter that makes the diff.
With you!
It’s one way to go, but it sounds labor intensive. *g*
Agreed lefttown…
That is a real fight…but we know how that will turn out, don’t we??
Like all the other clusterfucks the ‘elite’ asswipe leaders and their ‘corporate’ MOTU manifest.
The only time things will change in this decaying and rotting empire, is when the masses are at the gated communities, physically and metaphorically, threatening to take their fucking ‘white towers’ to the ground in shambles.
Until then, the asleep and media hypnotised masses will continue to consume blindly and get mad at their neighbor for not keeping his lawn trimmed…nothing here…move on serfs!
Yeppers. It’s the Puritans. They considered themselves the ‘chosen people’ of the OT. A lot of bad stuff in U.S. policy (think Manifest Destiny, for example) follows from that.
Some intrepid reporter needs to ask him if Limpbough is his daddy then stand back and watch the gyrations. We’d soon see how tough he is.
dday has a new post up, that many of us have been waiting for on Wisconsin developments. Meet you all upstairs.
I was thinking Alice Roosevelt Longworth and her “If you haven’t got anything nice to say about anybody, come sit next to me” pillow. She also said, “The secret of eternal youth is arrested development” and “You can’t make a souffle rise twice.” Could she have been prognosticating?
Well thank God the “bold” Democrats in New Jersey – who are, and have been in the majority for nearly two decades – are standing up for the more than 600,000 public employees in the state.
Steve Sweeney as 2016 Democratic Presidential nominee.
Apparently it was worth it. She inherited everything, clean and legal and no suspicions.
Utterly dismissive and proving no point whatsoever.
I live in Sweeney’s district. Not a chance I’d vote for him.
I missed the reference entirely. Thanks for cluing me in. I’m flattered.
Gloucester County, eh?
Yeah. Sweeney has been county Freeholder forever and the chairman for who-knows-how long. So his far-rightwing proposal isn’t because he fears losing one of his jobs.
For all the attention Christie gets, in his home state, the last time I checked he was running about 50-50 with NJ voters, hardly an overwhelming mandate. Unfortunately, Repubs can win state elections as a reaction against blatantly corrupt NJ Democrats (especially the Raymond Lesniak fiefdom in North Jersey) and this time it wasnt the usual moderate that was elected.
Yeah, he’s at 52%.
Supersize the WH?
I think it’s a misconception that the pilgrims were seeking religious freedom. It was just the opposite.
Rumor has it on duty police at protest are also protesting. Makes sense, once Walker takes out the teachers, he’ll come after the cops, firefighters, nurses, and any other state employees.
Interesting. I have suggested to people who want to know why Democrats didn’t seem to care about Corzine that the entrenched local powers aren’t much affected one way or the other by governors. Maybe over a long time they would be, but over the term of a governor, not so much. I mean, what Democratic municipal or county power has lost h/er grip, privileges or prerogatives since Christie ascended? Governors come and governors go, local power lasts much longer. Kind of like municipal clerks and mayors: municipal clerks are forever–and they know what’s really what. If you need information, ask the muni clerk.
Really, the guy is a chickenshit–and a bully. Sorry, I repeat myself. Wouldn’t vote on the gay marriage bill, not against or for. How’s that for weaseling out? And the DRPA, Delaware River Port Authority, for those not privileged to deal with the agency up close and personal………don’t get me started.
Well, it finally occurred to some of them that, by golly, this could be us next. Has light dawned?
As a resident of New Jersey I would love to see CC run for president…that way we are rid of him!..the real reason CC is after the Unions is they did not support him for gov so he wants revenge…that is what is really going on around the country..public unions tend to support the Dems and not the GOP..so bring down the unions (and hurt the middle class) and you get mega dollars from the super rich…does NJ need reforms? Yes..we have pensions for double dipping pols (and their buddies) judges who after 5 years of service get full pension rights for life, school boards who are asleep but the ones who will suffer are the rank and file…this whole country needs new leadership..it ain’t the Dems and it sure as hell not the GOP…my property taxes have gone up again!
First – I am sorry to hear of the police treating you beyond “badly”.
As to Egypt and rape and calling out Jew – only the New York Post has run with the reporting:
“CBS reporter’s Cairo nightmare: Lara Logan set upon by mob in brutal sex attack,” by Michael Shain, Don Kaplan and Kate Sheehy for the New York Post, February 16
“60 Minutes” correspondent Lara Logan was repeatedly sexually assaulted by thugs yelling, “Jew! Jew!” as she covered the chaotic fall of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Cairo’s main square Friday, CBS and sources said yesterday.
The TV crew with Logan, who is also the network’s chief foreign correspondent, had its cameras rolling moments before she was dragged off — and caught her on tape looking tense and trying to head away from a crowd of men behind her in Tahrir Square.
“Logan was covering the jubilation . . . when she and her team and their security were surrounded by a dangerous element amidst the celebration,” CBS said in a statement. “It was a mob of more than 200 people whipped into a frenzy.
“In the crush of the mob, [Logan] was separated from her crew. She was surrounded and suffered a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating before being saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers….
A network source told The Post that her attackers were screaming, “Jew! Jew!” during the assault. And the day before, Logan had told Esquire.com that Egyptian soldiers hassling her and her crew had accused them of “being Israeli spies.” Logan is not Jewish.
Sadly this follows the 14 year killed by the Sharia Court – she died after 80 lashes of her 100 lash sentence for allowing herself to be raped, and is followed by Nir Rosen trying to laugh off the rape on Anderson Cooper the other night (he is a fellow that wants the end of the Jewish state via a “one state solution”), and the (year ago) Palestinian female lawyer explaining on some talking head program whose name I’ve forgot that raping a Jewish women is justified because the “Jews have raped our land”. The fact that after 20 minutes the women in the crowd (the crowd was mixed Christian and Muslim but I assume Muslim women in this case as it was described as a Muslim crowd) put a stop to the rape – backed by soldiers to be sure – does seem to indicate a slight improvement in the peer pressure effect in a Muslim community.
Chris Christie’s Idea of “Doing Big Things”
From the looks of it he does the Big Breakfast at Mcdonalds every morning.
Given his size and weight he probably has some third world black market organs keeping him alive?
What’s the expression, Nowhere to go but up? CC doesn’t appeal as pres.
Why not just say that in the first place then? I’m sorry, I don’t think that deserves benefit of the doubt. Well played evasion. However, I’m just not that gullible.
I agree on attacking his views for all things they are horribly destructive.
So, is it your position that his appearance is not unique among Republicans running for president in 2012, or politicians generally? Because that’s what you’re arguing, and I think you’re wrong.
whoa whoa whoa! There are alot of places better than New Jersey??!! say it aint so! New jersey raised and I hate Christie just like Corzine and Whitman. I love our state but starting with the governors all the way to the corrupt mayors like camden all our pols suck big time.
CC is part of the same continuum as the GOP in WI. The GOP, with the complicitness of many Dems and far too often the Unions, are out to pit all small people against one another so that the wealthy elites get more and more and more. And in CC’s case, part of the “more” appears to be a daily-double of Denny’s grand-slams for breakfast and endless “buffets” for lunch and dinner. ICK.
Why voters go for the rapine and plunder of their own selves, plus their neighbors, continues to elude me.
It’s all about being punitive, harsh and judgemental towards those who many view as their “lessors,” whilst bowing and scraping to those viewed as their economic/social “betters.” Go figure.
Blood libel, my friends, blood libel [snark alert]
Maybe we need a hereditary aristocracy? Altho, the British example doesn’t look attractive.
Another thing to factor in is he took a hit within NJ for when him and his family were vacationing in Disneyland during the recent blizzard. Not as much him being out of state as much as the wise-ass way he commented on it. No doubt he is cute to some, but the lippy schtick will wear thin in time
I live in NJ and I agree with your analysis of this two bit fascistic bully. He appeals to a certain level of political discourse out here that looks for a strong man to lead. The last guy we had Corzine was just the opposite to the extent that he dressed and looked like your standard University History Prof. and he was hated after 4 yrs. Christie understands the fascistic virus that is embedded deeply in the brains and souls of millions of NJ and America’s voters and he knows how to push those buttons. Reagan did the same thing and was beloved. Christie is doing everything he can in NJ to show he’s a fascist “man of action” and it’s working for him and the GOP big time.
Gawd, I hope so. I grew up in a house with two wise asses and they’re not even a little bit appealing to me. The only thing they care about is establishing dominance. WIN. There is NO consideration other than that and nothing past the ends of their noses.
He reminds them of James Gandolfini.
Am I missing something?
Well, no one’s missing that fat ass of his.
Call Christie a loser, a douche, or whatever; but don’t call him late for lunch. Ever. Seriously, ever.
