Celebrating our 36th wedding anniversary at a great local bistro. We got to sit by a fireplace and everything, just like big people! Seriously, it was fun and we were home by 9:00 p.m. And Suzanne, another hour in the dental chair today. March 4th date with my endodontist. They were very kind to me today and I almost cried with thanks.

Scott Joplin, ragtime icon/master, presage of Dixieland, left hand barrel roll icon.

Wow, read finding my voice in her blog. I felt that way at the University of Delaware in 1970. And that is hardly ivy, just state uni. I KNEW culture shock would be hard, as did DrDick. I hope she is shining.

Happy day after Valentine’s Day everyone! Can we call this Boogie Woogie Day?
Oops. Gotta go. Hi and bye. BRB.
Very nice, thank you. Highs 75-80 for the next week, nothing below hi-50′s…
Not sure spring has sprung, but looking mighty promising. When the days get longer my disposition improves enormously and walking doesn’t sound like a chore.
Thinking maybe it’s time to start looking for quince blossoms – love em.
Yes. Me too. They are running covert operations against American civilians, on American soil, for political purposes. It needs to be screamed from the rooftops.

I never thought I would agree with that sentiment, but I do. sad. Glad your benefits will last for awhile.
Eww, Pennsylvania has Michael Vick. Fucking bastard murderer.
I like PA. The Philly accent is pretty close to the New Orleans accent.
I lived in Bloomsburg for two years. It is in nopa.

O, wait, got a bid from Jerry Brown, but he bid only $200 layaway and wants a 4 year warranty…

The Circle 8 Writers Group’s new short story/flash fiction/poetry Valentine’s Day anthology “Roses and Thorns” is now available for purchase on Amazon at:
Paperback price: cheap at $7.50
Ebook: cheaper at $4.00
“Roses and Thorns” opens with “Almost” by Jennifer Arend: a poem of love written but confined in the mind, never applied to a valentine; a heart undelivered.
“Until the End of the World” by Lucinda Gunnin is the 1st short story presented in “Roses and Thorns”. Lucinda takes her readers into the stoic lives of a loving couple facing the ultimate decision of whether or not to go on living in a world more dead than alive.
“The Right” by Theresa Leschmann presents the dilemma of Death falling in love while stalking a woman who saves lives. Love and Death: which will prevail?
“What’s for Dinner?” by Robert L. Arend is a story about zombies in love but unable to marry. What’s that have to do with dinner? You’ll have to read the story with an empty stomach to find out.
“Roses and Thorns” takes a break for “Flash Fiction Intermission” with these under a thousand word stories:
“Change of Plans” by the master of flash fiction Angel Sharum
“Stew” by Lucinda Gunnin
“My Sabian” by Amy Browne
“Lost at Sea” by Angel Sharum
“Roses and Thorns” resumes full-length stories with “The Engagement Game” by Robert L. Arend, in which yes or no depends on Heart cards outnumbering the Storm cards in a game created by Tiffany’s married once-too-often friend. Is marriage in the cards or will love goeth before the storm?
“Paisley’s Purple Flames” by Amy Browne is the original installment of Amy’s magical tales of Paisley of the two worlds. Paisley is in love with her elderly dying mortal friend and determined to gamble on saving his life or losing him forever in a perilous journey from one world into the next.
“Premonitions of Love” by Angel Sharum is a rollicking fun tale of a handsome stranger’s mission of foretold love offered to a very skeptical young woman before an audience of bemused townsmen. Is the stranger a con or the real deal?
“The Poet” by Robert L. Arend dares to explore the taboo of a teacher’s growing infatuation for a tall-dark-and-handsome but years-younger student. She adores his poetic compositions, but does his poetry match his soul?
Roses and Thorns” closes with the poem “Camelot Retold” by Angel Sharum that reprises the story of love and betrayal in the mythic kingdom of the round table.
Oh I like that!
All look very interesting. Tomorrow I am getting my eyes checked. When I get my new classes I intend to read like I used to-every damn day.
Hey ll niters,
Mary, is the hubby coming aroud, find some grab bars? Hope no lasting trouble from that shower incident.
hey nonq — how’s wi tonight?
He is still a little sore and has been really tired. But feeling better. I am looking into getting grab bars put into the show.
Mom dishes writer’s brain to her little zombie in “What’s for Dinner”, but:
Vivian scooped some brains out of the bucket she had carried from that writer’s camp down by the lake. She ladled the dinner onto Derek’s plate, and then filled her own dish before sitting at the table with her son.
Derek scowled, picking at the meal with his fork.
“Eat, Derek,” his mother ordered. “It’s good for you.”
“I don’t like it,” the boy protested. “Writer brains taste like salty paper.”
Vivian almost absentmindedly forked a sliver of brain into her mouth. “It’s good for you,” she repeated while she chewed. “You need to expand your vocabulary.”
Oh, now you’ve gone and done it.
yum…. writer’s brain. compact and de-lish-e-o-so.
WI is warm enough get 13K demonstrators out in Madison and our chicken-sh*t governor is giving his budget address 5 miles away from the UW Madison campus on private property next week to avoid the protesters.
Three days above 30F, got my driver’s license updated, today, they wanted to use their own photo and didn’t want the one I had on the flash drive with the wrinkles air-brushed, a virtual chin tuck and some hair photo-shopped where it used to be.
the dmv takes pride in taking the worst photos ever…. i swear i’ve never seen a good drivers license photo
Costco is worse. Hard to believe, i know.
Very much like a Pennsylvania cannibal sandwich: raw hamburger pattie & salt & onions between two pieces of white bread layered with mayo. Um, boy, good!
The Dirty Boogie
they are pretty forking bad… at least they are black and white photos unlike the dmv…
Yea, more artistic that way.
Relieved to hear that, watch the tiredness if it persists, you know him, but I know guys that thought a little head bump was nothing and nothing to admit to having happened.
With all of this Dr. John, I couldn’t resist.
Military ID’s are pretty bad too..! ;-)
I understand. Foggy headedness can mean a bleed or swelling. I have been watching.
Hey, now don’t be dissing our hard working Union employees. One lady on duty there and she went through three people ahead of me in no time flat. :-)
WI fee is $34 for an eight yr ID/license.
I have all my old drivers licensees. Sometimes I stack them like a deck of cards, grip an edge and flap each like an old nicklelodeon to watch myself grow old super fast speed…
’bout time for me to boogie outta here and turn back into a pumpkin folks. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight and for all the music and conversations
Where yat? That is a huge New Orleans expression. My momma would never let me talk like that. She was from North Carolina and thought New Orleans speak was “trashy”. She would say, “Mare Margret, you know ah don’t lak it when you speak that way.”
A couple of years ago I had some infection that made my jaw area swell on one side. I was telling the doctor about going to the ER for it, she said when was this? I got out my driver’s license because that was the very day I had to get it renewed. And she looked and said Oh my, yes you did need to see someone!
I am off to bed. See you all tomorrow. Sleep tight.
My mother spent my first 3 years trying to teach me to talk. Once I learned, she spent the rest of her life telling me to shutup….
We must have had some of the Penn State Dutch migrate to WI and bring those cannibal sandwiches. I stayed away but New Years eve buffets were the most likely place to find them years ago.
Pleasant dreams, Suz…!
OGM! My youngest daughter was like that. She didn’t talk until she was three. But after that you could not shut that girl up. I used to ask her to be quiet for five minutes, pleeeeeese. She would politely say “yes mom”. With in ten seconds she would be yammering one. She told great stories as a kid though.
Now I really am going to bed.
I ate tons of them when I was a youngun. Still crave them, but the stuff they add to cows and cow feed and the way the processing plants mix different cow meat together, I cook it dry….
Boogie on roids?
Goody night there, (((Suzanne))).
Tea cup is empty, pillow is calling.
Thanks for the opening number for the alarm clock tune in a few hours.
Sounds like either of my grandmothers, LOL. One got upset with me one day when, at what, 12 years old, I was happily walking off to visit friends as I loudly sang, “Oh, Lord, Please don’t let me be misunderstood,” Later she wanted to know if that was me she heard swearing.
Heck, I worked on a regional drawl when I was in Texas and later I got to put it to good use, annoying a girlfriend who came from Lufkin. Ah went ‘n tol’ her “ah’ll git it” whenev’r her par-nts wuss a-callin’.
I still can’t figure out why she left me for that bassist.
Hey folks, sorry I missed our hostess. Check out my latest diary. It took way longer to write than it should have, but I think I tell an interesting story about the real rules around conseratives and guns at their events.
Glock Block! No Civilian Guns at CPAC
Suz, very late to the thread but had to tell you how much I appreciated the boogie at your 31. That’s the music we danced to and danced like that. I can’t dance any more but I have nearly rocked my desk chair out into the hall. Great fun. Thanks.
This is awesome! Makes me want to crank it up and clean house, lol
Thank you..What a great way to start the day!
This thread is great fun. I’ve worked my way through all the links. Hard to surpass that 1st 4 handed piece. I think Jerry Lee Lewis is on the Steve Allen tv show. Nice shirt.
Albert Ammons and Pete Johnson. The woman is Lena Horne. Ammons died 12/2/49. If I understand her biography correctly, this is from 1941.
Suzanne; gooooood stuff. :o)
Booojjie-wooojjie: the sweetest, sexiest, music known to girl-boys and boy-girls…
And speakin’ of Jerry Lee, here’s the Killer and Emmylou Harris, with
“Crazy Arms”…pure kryptonite. :o)
(How hard do you think Jerry Lee was hittin’ on Emmylou backstage? :o)
I hope he didn’t get to first base, the swine. :o) )
sorry i missed ya spocko – that’s a great diary and i tweeted and recommended it
hey fredamae — glad ya liked it
