Delbert McClinton & Marcia Ball- Read Me My Rights (H/T: That Guy)
As Marcia says… It’s Party Time…! What’s on your mind tonite…? ;-)
Tuttle!!
Etta James & Dr. John
Congrats, nahant…! ;-)
Hmmm… When I previewed the post it was a larger clip…! My apologies ya’ll…! *g*
Timely, CTut
For sure…
I thought it would be moist poifect under the Manning Banner…! ;-)
Aloha, newt, how’s your side of the Pacific…?
DELBERT!!!!!
I’m rather partial to Marcia, myself, TG…! ;-)
She is a hottie in my book…! *g*
It’s very nice over here. Air conditioning weather.
She’s on the cruise every year. You should go!
Hey all! So very late, but still snowing.
Which cruise…? I hear Cruise Ship fog horns almost daily here…! ;-)
Aloha, CE…! What kind of Lake effect snows are ya seeing…?
http://www.delbert.com
Nice, MrWhy…! Aloha…! ;-)
On top of at least ten inches, we have had constant snow for two days! Beautiful, not dangerous for driving. Pretty and so horribly cold.
Snow and cold are right-wing conspiracies. Both snow and cold are morally reprehensible.
Welcome to up here!
Chris – if your machine was purchased new or Apple-refurbished-
if it does not suffer from obvious physical damage BY THE USER-
It is covered for a year. Parts and labor. Do not let them tell you different. There are no exceptions.
You got that right…! ;-)
Says the guy (like me) who lives in perpetual 50-80 degree weather, year-round.
Hey I’m fine. I had one year warranty and we bought two more. It covered all.
Hmmm… Some Strange Fruit… ;-)
Same here. 50-80 in winter, 75-100 in summertime. Below 50, my body goes through an involuntary hibernation reflex.
wow. added to fav’s
except at night… been 40 in the wee hours here.. but damn I wouldn’t live anywhere else…
Aloha, Ron…! ;-)
Hey RonD
It gets down to just above freezing maybe 5 days a year, and we have our bouts with the century mark on occasion.
I lived in the Sac valley (very hot and very cold) for 15 years, so I scrambled back to the Bay Area as fast as I could.
Can’t get enough of this girl’s guitar.
Ah. I live in central FL, Tampa Bay area. Very hot…we’re fine with that. “Very cold” we do not do well here.
I worked at a recording studio in Chicago in the late 50′s. We had a silver tongued announcer by the name of Ken Nordine who did an in-house version of “Strange Fruit” accompanied by an ad hoc jazz combo.
When I left the studio, I cut some acetate discs of exotic tracks stored in the bowels of the library. “Strange Fruit” was one of them.
Alas! When I left Chicago, it appears the movers stole every one of those discs, leaving the commercial vinyl alone. The joke was on them as acetates cannot be played more than maybe 20 times then it’s garbage! Ha ha! (crying in my beer!)
If there are any Chicagoans lurking or posting here at are in their 60′s, you have heard Nordeen many times. It still is in my ear.
Oh, and Aloha, CT!
We had ice on the pavement here and in SF a couple of weeks ago. Not a lot, but noticeable. It lasted one day.
I turn on the local news – and KRON is blasting the news – cold-spell grips Bay Area.
Hmmm, can’t remember for sure the spelling. Nordine or Nordeen?
Believe it or not, when FLA freezes, we hear about it out here. Cause of the oranges.
I heard that some wag told Santa when he was in SF to “get a grip!”…and he did.
Aloha, Starbuck…! Sounds like ya saw some killer tracks laid down…! ;-)
Panic, I tells ya – panic. Folks rushing to REI to suit up.
Hey CTuttle! I’m on a fly-by. Like the video selection. :)
Carnival of Venice…I’ve known this guy since he was 15 or so.
Aloha, mz…!
has been colder than normal… but hey 70′s during the day I can take, we have even got a few snow peas out of the garden… Lemons are just right and the oranges are just a bit away from being real sweet by still good.. in your favorite libation…
Brand new to me. I could listen to Moore play all night.
Thanks.
Yep. Some humorous, some “blue” tracks. We had some after hours nightclub routines by a very, very well known comedian doing really dirty routines. Rape, incest…I had that too and while I didn’t name the person, his voice is too obvious!
Didn’t Ken Nordine do some stuff with the Grateful Dead once upon a time?
Hi all, just dropping by for a few; up too late, but what the heck.
LL!
Hi LL!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKPdWq7g9Lg
He is best known for “Word Jazz”, for which “Strange Fruit” was a kind of warm up to that idea. I should look to see if he did it commercially.
I am sitting here in Castro Valley (visiting my sister) and it is NOT cold here at all! What “cold” spell? Back home in Indiana this week temps have been in the TEENS!
Yeah, there it is! What a voice. Thanks!
Hey newton, RonD!
Aloha, sweetie…! How’s Virginny…? ;-)
Yeah, the weather here is almost unnaturally nice.
Aloha CT! It’s quiet here; waiting to see if Wednesday will bring us snow, rain, or a combination of the two. I wouldn’t mind a little snow actually — the Subaru could use a workout!
Can’t find Strange Fruit but this comes close to what I remember:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47HEpPkOCaI
If it snows it’s cool, when it’s sleet/freezing rain it totally sucks…! 8-(
Ooooh, spacey…too bad I don’t have any, erm, substances to go along with this!
Sweet dreams, all.
“Slack Key Lullaby” performed by Ledward Kaapana
You got that right! Around here, we are always so close to the snow vs. freezing rain line, always a little dicey!
Ooh, speaking of cool…! ;-)
Hey folks!
Check out my new diary:
Guns Outlawed at Palin Speaking Events
I’ve already attracted the attention of a Texas concealed carry handgun instructor! He of course misses my point and instead of taking up the banning of concealed carry weapons with the City of Lubbock he attack my totally accurate reporting.
Check it out. I hope it will be good enough to be front page tomorrow.
Nordine on numbers:

His signature talking back to himself as if on the telephone.
Aloha, mz…! Slack key is the only way to properly tune a gee-tar…! ;-)
Great tune Tut .. things are good when the weather is the topic dejour .. :)
That one made the hair stand up on my neck, as “Strange Fruit” did.
Crap! I was going to copy those acetates to tape and I got lazy! Fuckity Fuck, fuck fuck!
Ooops. I’m sounding like Rahm! Must be a Chicago thingy.
Mahalo, spocko, for your awesome efforts…! *g*
Gotta leave now, sleep beckons, but I’ll leave you all with a tune that was a fave in the 90′s; a friend and I were talking about this tune earlier tonight
Black Metallic – The Catherine Wheel
Thanks CT and good night friends!
Thanks. I really spend a LOOONG time on it. I know how certain people in the gun rights movement are, and so I really took extra pains to confirm the information in more than one source and in writing when I can, and STILL they come after it. But I knew that they would. And I knew that they would not really choose to confront the people they had a problem with, namely Palin’s security team. Because if they did they would be told to go pound sand.
I also really worked the fantasy vs. reality angle. I realized I took like the fantasy of guns, I just saw True Grit and enjoyed it. But the reality of guns and multiple guns in a crowd is going to be much more tragedy.
Aloha, tearloch…! Did the pineapple express stop hammering ya yet…?
Weather is always a safe topic, ‘cept when I gloat…! ;-)
I could always talk about the Palestine Papers instead…?
‘night, LL!
Gotta sign off too.
Enjoy the…did I say silver tongue? More like gold ore!
Nite all.
Pleasant Dreams, LL and Starbuck…!
I’ve been having a hard time getting in here, but glad it finally worked. Love that clip you played, CT. Hi all:)
NSA parked on top your toobz…? Aloha, Margot…! ;-)
Hi margot

No problemo…! ;-)
