Ok, I’ll snag the Zed…
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight?
I did hold back Suz…! ;-)
Suz!
i figured folks are watching the toon
hey newton — how’s the west bay tonight?
I was watching some canoe races in the Bay earlier and it sprinkled on my arse…! I won’t commit hara kiri and say what the current temp is here, tho…! ;-)
(laughing) smart man (more laughing) i had sunshine(!) today — 3rd time in 2 weeks i’ve seen that yellow thingie in the sky
That was some serious eye candy ya snapped tho…! ;-)
evening, Suz, CTut, newton…
thanks tut — those were from wed — which was day 2 of sunshine. tonight’s sunset wasn’t anything to write home about — hardly any color at all. i was disappointed but was glad to have a wee bit of sun all day today
What a great cartoon!
hey jayt — how’s indiana tonight? (did i remember that correctly?)
C’mon Ya’ll… Can I get an Amen…? ;-)
hey margot — glad ya liked it. the wiki was interesting — i didn’t realize hokey and ding a ling were created to fill the hole left in the huckleberry hound show when yogi got his own show.
how’s ohio tonight?
Indianapolis, to be precise.
Colder then the proverbial witch’s (bleep).
brrrrrr i heard the games tomorrow are predicted to be some of the coldest football games ever….
No – I’m jealous and bitter.
heh.
I want someone to make me popcorn. After all, why did I fall down the stairs almost a week ago, and become an invalid, if I can’t get anyone to even make popcorn for me? Geez.
Ditto what jayt said. But I saw the sun today so it cheered me up.
yeah – well – you win games in the regular season with offense – in the post-season you win with smash-mouth…
Excellent!
1.2 degrees F, last I checked. Covering eyes & ears wrt to cost of next oil delivery.
this is gonna put a damper on that trip:
hey ecahn — your foot feeling any better? i guess you didn’t see the bowl of popcorn on the table to your left? just the way you like it hon…
yikes!!! gonna have to have a cardio team standing next to ya when ya open that bill
For all the interesting comments of yours that I’ve read, I’d be honored to drag out a pan and make popcorn the old-fashioned way for you. First, I have to go to the store to buy popcorn…
hey sb — how’s santa barbara tonight?
Are you healing up, feeling better? And do you have anyone coming in to help you?
Not been to doc, so suspect it is the kneeez. I tried some “gentle” stretching & strengthening exercises today. Felt fine until tonight, when I realized that ‘gentle’ was a matter of perception.
Still, trust my own program more than that of ‘experts’.
Evening Suz! I hate to gloat, but it’s heaven. We’ve been having the most beautiful days, and just crisp enough nights.
Don’t bother going to the store. Got more than everything I need in pantry or freezer. An OCD personality disorder, perhaps.
fuck — knee injuries suck. speaking from experience, i found soaking in a very warm tub is best place for trying to straighten or bending the knee (or knees)….. a good long soak first to relax the muscles and then a good long soak afterwards to keep them from screaming
OCD! All the best people are. *cough*
heh – I have an apartment where all of that is figured into the rent, so I can be as toasty or cool as I like.
don’t have to mow the lawn, either.
but I can’t get ‘em to open the swimming pool – ice problems.
Allegedly.
I fled South Bend for a week in surprisingly sunny San Francisco. High here of 66 today! Hiya JayT. My kids & grandkids all in Indy area.
I did some “gentle” stretching exercises today, and find a bit more soreness than I expected. But nothing major.
hiya Molly – it’s been a day or two…
all my utilities are included with the rent… except the wood for the stove. if i had to pay uts in addition to the rent, i would not be even close to being able to afford this place
hey msmolly — how’s the city by the bay tonight? good to see your fonts
I can see the Sydney opera house from my garden in California
Sleep, ice so far.
Heat only so far as sleep with a down blanky.
Actually, time to tune into sleepytime.
Bee well.
hey drdave — how ya doing tonight?
hope ya feels better soon ecahn — g’nite
I’m actually in Castro Valley. Usually not up for Late Late cuz it is 1:40 a.m. in South Bend. Hiya Suz and pups!
Evening all. Howzit? Lovely here, glad I am not where the temps are below zero, which is a lot of places tonight.
well, I’m not downtown anymore, which kinda breaks my heart.
But I did at least get the same deal on the utilities.
And I’d give my left (bleep again, goddammit) to have a fireplace. I can still find my own wood.
Beech is what one is looking for….
my jen lived in castro valley until her and mike moved up to beaverton after their wedding. and castro valley is where jen’s baby shower is next sat afternoon. she has lotsa friends there..
hey bg — how was your day today?
You move to the burbs now JayT? Thought you had an apt near downtown.
My day was OK. I am prepping for a bank meeting on Tuesday, lots of adding and categories and such. LM is still slipping, even Yahtzee is getting beyond her. So sad.
i’m a fireplace gal myself. those 11 winters in the apt without a fireplace where forking tough — was so happy when i bought the cabin because it had one. i’ve always liked an oak/madrone mix and almond. up here, i’ve taken to burning those compressed sawdust logs — they burn longer and hotter than the wood i’ve gotten locally.
I could spend quite a while talking about bad knees and flat wheels, but evidently ECahn has taken to the sheets.
Played mean street ball until I was in my mid-forties.
And then, the wheels went flat.
Still, a very bad (and lonely) white man on the courts…
oh no.. i’m so sorry…. your yatzee games with lm … dayam
Wow, small world. My sister & bro-in-law have an Eichler up around Cull Canyon (I think…)
Hi msmolly and bg.:)
You should get some xrays at least, M’dear…! See if you cracked or fractured something…! *g*
I have a gas fireplace I’ve never used in my 7+ years in SBN. I put insulation around the damper. Burning a gas fireplace is like burning dollar bills. I’d never enjoy it.
tis amazing the interconnectiveness i’ve found here at the lake…. jen was off redwood road
I *was* smack downtown.
Too expensive – I had to go, tho it broke my heart.
So yeah, I’m in the ‘burbs – hatin’ every minute of it. Still looking for sentient life and a snow-plow which shows up before 4:00 every day…
I’m in hell…………. ughh
I just had to unclog my toobz and missed her departure…! She really should get some Xrays done…!
A day or two indeed. Hadn’t seen you here in mornings for a long time and I’m not usually here this late. How is your son doing?
los bravos
HI miss, how are things with you? Checked out your map today. Big surprise, no left wingers with guns.
Btw, I lost my original comment that it is really gonna be some smash mouth, old-school football on tap tomorrow…! ;-)
My sister is just east (??) across Cull Canyon in a little nest called Greenridge.
Where? My son & family are in Carmel and daughter & family in Noblesville.
I’m in Castleton – spitting distance
“When I retire I’m going to spend my evenings by the fireplace going through those boxes. There are things in there that ought to be burned.”
___Richard M. Nixon
Yesterday I had a discussion with a guy who believes that more guns in an audience makes it safer for everyone.
He sounded very rational. But I decided that I’m not the person who needs to be convinced of that, it is the professional security people who do.
hey robert — how’s your neck of pa tonight?
hey spocko — how ya doing tonight?
I’ll betcha the other Tricky Dick, Darth Cheney, has ever more to burn…! ;-)
2 degrees. Skipped the green tea tonight, went straight for the hot cocoa…and buttered toast.
Best Ever . . . . .@5;40 Or So.
Jerry, Bobby, N Phil Just Light It up.
Best evah of them 3 IMHO . . . . .
N a sure best twofer . . .
China Ca, Ryder!
*G*
My kids have lived in Indy for almost 20 years, and I know Castleton well. Weren’t you near the Circle before?
brrrrr that’s too forking cold
hey larue — how’s sac?
Cheney looks like Skeletor* these days.
*Skeletor was a famous saturday morning cartoon villian back in the early 70s–for all you youngsters.
Hey Larue! How’s your lady?
*heh* One of the original MOTU’s, eh…? ;-)
i forking heart vermont:
You win the prize, there, CT.
Living without a pulse could do that, I guess.
sleepy!
Now that is an excellent piece of news. Vermont rocks!
what time zone are ya in?
Hiya pups.
22 + F in Wasilla, with about 8 inches of new, powdery snow. Strider (the dog) is recovering from surgery so well Ms ET was tempted to take him with her skiing, but she decided to leave him with me, while I plowed the snow away.
Max is so awesome!
Damn socialists…
hey et — so good to hear strider is recovering so well. how ya doing tonight?
Doing fine, Suzanne. Finishing off one music project to make room for the next one – Bootlicking Odes.
how big of a project is that one gonna be?
Is Macy still planning on performing…? *gah*
Even on Pacific time it’s getting on for bedtime, helped by a yummy dinner with friends in the city and some wine. Will check in tomorrow! Nighters all! *wave*
g’nite msmolly
Wow, ET. You are a brave one. Incredible stupidity.
I’m about to head off too, not even to lucky 100, and I’m tired.
Glad to hear he’s recovering!
Thanks for being such a swell hostess, Suz.
g’nite bg
Your lucky night, you need it, so no beating up on yourself.
*heh* Bagged and tagged…! ;-)
dammit there goes my fuck
She is.
bgrothus – what is brave about posting Max’s article?
He made a sort of deep rumbling sound that tells us he’s very happy today for the first time since late November.
Teh crazy will be after you now. Need a bit of a thick skin, they are already starting, looks like.
Truthout had a good article on a documentary about the crazy that is taught in Israel to keep those fires of hate/persecution going. Maybe one day there will be peace.
bg, ET has been blogging/advocating about I/P issues for quite some years now…! Nothing is new…! *g*
Fine. A bit of writer’s block. Whenever I have to write something “real” I get uptight. And calling out the people who believe more guns make political speakers safer is just the kind of thing that is “real”
When I see how hopped up on NRA talking points and how passionate some are about it, I get intimidated.
Yet I feel it is a part of the story people just aren’t talking about.
Skeletor
I waded into that mess once with an e-mail a college friend sent. I got us both into a lot of trouble for not following the party line. I was not sorry, but I still feel the sting of it, partly because some people feel so hurt, and partly b/c my friend thought I had no right to respond to it with any critique.
I went to the Holocaust Museum in Berlin a few years back. It was so interesting. I do understand the persecution, it has been generational, thousands of years. But now, there is no excuse for the behavior of a nation. It is shameful.
I’m glad there are lots of people like ET who keep after it. I don’t like the fight, but I will stand up and be counted.
i’ve tried writing ‘real’ and its so forking hard. i just can’t do it the justice it deserves
I’ve fired virtually every caliber from a .22 to a 155mm Howitzer…! More guns only begat more violence…! 8-(
Our generation passed some torches honorably, dropped a lot of other ones.
Last night, at a local function, when I came in, a close friend whose daughter was murdered in early December, was holding the newborn granddaughter of another close friend. First time I’d seen her since the tragedy. I came up to her, gave her a warm, long hug, and whispered as we looked at this perfect baby in her hands – “Life goes on.”
She replied tearfully, “It does.”
Young people might solve the peace thing. I truly hope so. We certainly haven’t.
Here is part of my diary following the facts of guns outlawed at Palin’s speech.
When you are actually responsible for lives, and your hotel is on the hook for 2 million dollars liability you believe in fewer guns. You believe in gun free zones. You believe in metal detectors. You don’t trust the word of someone who says they have conceal carry permit and 140 hours of training. You know just how many people think they are Christopher Chance when they are more like Chance the Gardner. Intellectually you know how terrible the procedures are to deny mentally ill guns. Experience tells you that if your crazy incompetent brother in law can get a Conceal carry permit, any one can When it’s not your reputation on the line and the safety of your charges you might let him blather about the need for more armed citizens in “victim disarmament zones”, but he’s not going to come to your event with his gun –even if he is married to your baby sister.
When the HOT comes, I won’t have a gun, and I won’t fight to survive. I don’t want to live like that.
Perhaps them thar UFOs’ll save us.
bgrothus. Check out the BBC series from 2008, Survivors. very interesting about guns, leaders and violence.
I’ve been to Buchenwald… One would think that a persecuted People would be the last ones to persecute, but, Gaza alone is nothing but a concentration camp…
Shhhh, you’ll get branded anti-semitic…
merle
’bout time for me to turn back into a pumpkin folks. thank you for letting me hang out with ya tonight.
g’nite all
That was some smooth merle, Suz…! Pleasant Dreams, Ma’am…! ;-)
