- Obviously, what’s needed is fewer regulations.
- I’ll believe it when I see it.

Any reality based review of regulations would show we need more, of course. Not sure that’s going to make friends and influence people in the corporate sphere, however.
Mornin’, BT, pups
Yeah, the US and its puppets have the upper hand in Irak and Afghanistan. Idiots.
The gun issue is just a distraction. Very few people are killed by gun violence. The real issues we should be talking about are health care reform, Wall Street reform, campaign finance reform and reform of the Military Industrial Complex. The gun debate just keeps us yelling at each other and the people in the boardrooms of the above mentioned industries are laughing their asses off at us right now.
•What Bush’s “victory” in Iraq looks like.
Sorry, but this is Obomba’s baby now, not Bushies. Been 2 years.
Can we stop reporting on everything Palin says now? Her fifteen minutes were up like two years ago.
All the talking we’ve done over the last few decades on these issues sure have been effective. When you’ve had a close friend shot to death by a boyfriend you might think a little differently about firearms. An 8 year old girl killed on her couch by a fusillade of bullets fired into her house might also bring about a little awareness. Cheryl Smith was a friend of mine and the little girl was killed not far from where I live.
No kidding! Everyone is sick to death of this woman. The blogs have an obsession for her. Oh and good morning Margaret.
Sarah Palin whining to Sean Hannity about folks getting mad that she helped gun down a member of Congress ought not to be news…

G’Morning, Puppies
So, can anyone tell me why the companies are sitting on piles of money?
Not even close. It was a war Bush chose, and he is given credit for “winning” it with his “surge.”
It will always be his and the GOP’s war.
How many blogs do you go to to pimp that site?
Thank you.
Thank you, too. I’ll usually click on a link if it’s shared by someone I know, but I usually don’t check out something from a stranger. But, that’s just me.
S/he’s been blog whoring here the last couple days. Posts and runs.
The D.C. version of the Stockholm Syndrome:
Christina Romer now says that Obama SOU should focus on deficit.
If you can’t convince ‘em, be beaten by ‘em.
I don’t know but I’ve decided I’m not going there. At least since the 14th, mpaul88 hasn’t made a single comment that didn’t include a link to that blog. There are even a couple of moderator notes pointing out that s/he is blogwhoring too much. I suppose we’ll have to put up with it until the moderators get tired and disable the account. I probably would have checked it out if it hadn’t been shoved into my face unrelentingly for days.
Paycheck, ya think?
Of course any issue is important when someone you know is affected, but in terms of the big picture those other issues are much more important. And the fact that we’ve been fighting about them for so long without making much progress underscores my point even more.
I was wondering that myself. Don’t we have a convention here about blogwhoring?
G’morning, pups. Maybe I’m just cranky today.
EDIT. In the time it took me to type the above, I see a couple more folks have commented. Maybe we can vote mpaul88 off the island?
Because they need them to get high enough to see China from here.
Obomba could stop it if he didn’t agree with it. He hasn’t. He’s expanded the War on Terror (TM). If you were completely opposed to something before an election, would you not stop it as soon as possible once elected? He is doing nothing more than sticking to Bushies timeline. Obviously, he must agree with it.
Mods say it’s one blogwhore link a day.
Anything’s possible but more likely trying to up his/her site visit count, which amounts to pretty much the same thing.
Ah, Molly. Don’t be cranky. Wanna cookie?
I followed it ONCE and it had nothing whatever to do with the topic under discussion, so I’ve never followed it again. And won’t.
I’d say a million people killed by guns since MLK’s assassination is not an insignificant figure.
I know many of you have pets. Here is a story about pet loyalty. The photo link is worth while
http://www.balloon-juice.com/2011/01/17/jurassic-bark/
LOL. Thanks, Demi. I haven’t had breakfast yet. Huge MLK concert last night, rehearsal all afternoon and Sunday night, so I am tired and crabby. Apologies to all.
Thank you, three. I don’t know, but, the way the whole banking industry is going, I’d rather have money in my pocket. Or under the mattress.
Yeah, more often than not they are trying to sell something.
Oh, you’re a breakfast purist, are you? You’re no fun. :)
Morning folks. What do you think Obama will give away to China this week? It seems to be his MO wheneever he negotiates…
Apparently the rich feel that way too. They just need a much bigger mattress.
Dunno but he can’t give away my job.
Purist? Nah, I usually don’t eat sweets of any kind (including pancakes/waffles, etc.) for breakfast, but cold pizza or a leftover chicken drumstick right out of the fridge works for me.
That WSJ article linked above says “the latest effort by the White House to repair relations with corporate America” as if he hasn’t been kissing their collective a** for two years.
I’m waiting for Obama to start attending bank board meetings.
I’ve never been able to stand cold chicken or pizza. Almost everybody I know thinks I’m crazy especially with regard to cold pizza but there it is.
Morning BT & Firepups:
Quitter says, “I am not going to shut up.” I’ve got a dirty gym sock that could help plug up that over-active, under-informed pie hole.
News on the “Isolated Incident” in Arizona…
They’d never let him. They just want him as a “silent” partner. And by “him” I mean the American taxpayer.
Cold spaghetti? Yum. With cottage cheese.
In the world of what else is new, Daily Kos readers have circled the wagons once again and one is not welcome if one is not cheering loudly enough. One of these days they are going to start ripping Markos for having the temerity to criticize dear leader. I await that moment with some relish.
Yes, he accomplished his mission….And dressed up for the celebration.
Eww.
Isolated. Ha. That sure was a great book salon with Tom, wasn’t it?
Oh, yuk.
My son picked up the “leftovers right out of the fridge for breakfast” habit from me, and his wife confessed that seeing him eat those things just makes her gag. She has trouble eating leftovers of any kind, even though she tends to cook too much (she’s a gourmet cook) so there are always yummy leftovers in their fridge.
I am waiting with anticipation for this week’s repeal health care kabuki. I even bought a fresh box of micro popcorn for the occasion.
Ice cream is good cold. And chocolate pudding. That’s about it. ;)
Did you get modded over there again?
You can micro it; I think it makes a great breakfast…all that cheese.
Don’t mind leftovers at all but cold stuff that’s supposed to be warm or hot is just gross.
Ha! My sonny boy has a cup of noodles for breakfast, every day. He rinses out the cups and saves them. He has over 200 in his room. I figure if we ever have a flood, we’ll be able to make a raft. Crazy, huh? It’s cheaper than saving stamps, though.
HA. Nobody said we couldn’t nuke the leftovers! Depends on how hungry we are!
Oh no, I’ve never been modded there. The commentators take exception to
somemosteverything I have to say these days though.Revenge.
Yeah, I’d despair without my nuker.
Whatever you say, Gowron :-D
Don’t they say it’s best served cold?
Yes. Which is why I replied as I did. :)
Sorry. I didn’t recognize the reference. Who is that guy? A Star Trek person?
M, Why is our weather cold again….I thought we were going to have a break. Longest TX wet & cold I can recall.;)
Relative to what? How many people were killed by heart disease? Auto accidents? Wars? And BTW, you’re not counting combat deaths are you? Because that’s clearly a separate issue from domestic gun violence. I’m at work so I hope you’re not going to make me look up the stats on this.
Yum. Cheese! Hi ya, Bev. How’s Austin?
“The graphic that was used was crosshairs. That’s not original. Democrats have been using them for years,”
I assume this rabble rousing vitriolic quitter would provide numerous democratic maps with rifle crosshairs used as markers. Years worth of maps as she claimed or even one, sister sarah ?
Nah. 1983 was worse. I think it was 1983.
It was over 90 degrees here yesterday. Pretty weird winter.
Is that when Shoal Creek almost washed away? That was last century, though. ;)
The regular media lets her and other Republicans get away without providing examples or citations routinely. Surely you didn’t expect her sycophantic head nodder to bust her chops over it? I’ll bet ol’ Hannity had to go off the cialis for a week before he talked to her in person.
Um….did it? I was in Houstopolis then. I didn’t move to Austin till I got out of the service in ’91.
Hack.
Did anyone see the Dick Cheney interview? I only caught some coverage…He opined about the shooter…you may say he’s an expert, I guess.
Ugh!
Mo Joe crew nails it about Palin this morning. MORE guest: she’s the “bad girl” channelling all those repressed conservative women who want to mouth off. [my paraphrase]
Donny’s take: she’s Snooki.
Nope. I care less about what Darth Cheney says than what Palin says and that an accomplishment.
Yeah in the downtown/Lamar area. But I am not sure about the year. I wasn’t here then myself.
I just don’t go to Kos at all. I find their comment threads very hard to follow. Everyone has a slogan, and the comments are nested, and I just give up. I read other blogs, just not that one.
I just heard a bit of his comments; he sounds awful.
That’s why she’s known as “Snow Snooki”.
Demi, did you see this? My sister in Castro Valley sent it — I’m leaving for their house on Thursday.
Scientists warn that California could be struck by winter “superstorm”
Over a million due to homicide, accidents or suicide by firearms. I’m not about to play a numbers game with you. Nor am I going to compare deaths by gunfire to other causes of death, an exercise devised to decrease the importance of gun violence.
Going to the 20s later this week….Maybe Angela and I will just stay in…..
New post up top…
Oh yeah, I had heard that it’s flooded before and fairly recently. That whole Lamar section looks scoured still, doesn’t it? I didn’t know what year that was though.
I had not seen that. Seems more of maybe/could happen than a prediction, though. I wish your sister lived further south. I’d love to meet you in person.

Right? Like somehow those people would still be alive if it wasn’t for heart disease and automobile accidents. Unlike money, causes of death are not fungible.
I moved back to TX in ’85; it was before that. Some people died; really serious.
Yeah, the focus was gun control/safety, wasn’t it? Our paper had column about the way those with the Right to Carry permit can just breeze thru at the TX Capial. Crazy.
And I left Texas in 85 and it was definitely before that.
Like a permit somehow makes them immune to getting angry or just snapping.
But if everyone was armed, somebody could stop the guy who got mad or snapped! /s
Me too, Demi. And apparently those extreme storms have happened in the past, the article says.
I will be in San Diego next September for my nephew’s wedding, but that’s not really close to you either, and with wedding events there wouldn’t be time for a visit anyway.
I know you were snarking, but the guy who was armed and had his hand on his gun and almost shot someone at the scene in Tucson who had DISARMED Loughner is chilling. I think that would be more likely to happen in a stressful situation — more innocent lives lost.
But I am extremely anti-gun, so my views are colored by that.
And the writer was noting that they can certainly be carrying other stuff that does not get checked…Yep a stupid law for the carriers, the lege, etc. Nothing gets between me & my heat ;)
Chuvannah reporting Kent Conrad’s going to announce his retirement.
Baseball here he comes?
Her tongue is fire. She just does not understand. The most godly act for her would be to stop talking.
“Obviously, what’s needed is fewer regulations.”
Not one mention of depressed consumer demand caused by 30 years of supply-side economics. And the corporations don’t believe in the regulation bogie-man either: the complaints about “unfriendly rhetoric” dwarf the reconciliation deregulation efforts. It’s the “third way” again, dragging all to the right.
“Guns don’t kill people, blah blah blah.”
When people buy handguns, they do so with an expectation to wound or kill another human being. There is no other purpose for the instrument. It is a decision that deadly violence is an immutable aspect of human nature and society, that conscience and civilization are myth: a surrender, and in effect a promotion, of uncivilized, antisocial, inhuman behavior. There are no “good guys” with guns.
With respect, fixed it for ya.
