Well, there is no doubting Giffords’ bravery. To be an Arizona politician and be strongly pro-choice, and to have supported Obama’s healthcare reform (as tepid as it is) took courage, there.

I’m not a Christian, and I don’t pray, but I hope with all my heart that she recovers. If she does, and if her recovery allows her to continue in public office, she’ll be a powerful witness against, and antidote for, the kind of violence that victimized her, and the political culture that contributes to it.

We can hope and we can pray.

If, some day, we summon the will to diagnose mental illness early and treat it effectively, there will be far fewer tragedies like this.

Wow, despite this horrific tragedy, listening to these highly skilled neurosurgeons speak and describe her injuries, her care, and the situation is just refreshing and reassuring. She’s getting topnotch healthcare that’s for certain. The latest medical treatment and advances (most likely and unfortunately learned from treating tramatic War head/brain injuries) is amazing to me. In addition, all I can think of was that journalist who was reporting in the War who also had a significant brain/head injury Bob Woodward.

A really awful google ad came up with a shooter in a grey face mask knitted hat shooting a gun. The ad was from something like firepower.com and words in the ad were something about “practice your target shooting.”
