Animusic — Resonate Chamber.
What’s on your mind?
hey spur — how ya doing tonight?
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight?
I had some early fireworks to New Years, the better half just got home from a visit with my middle’un… It seems I’ll be a Grandpa right alongside ya, Suz, in ’11…! ;-)
not ready for the year to end
ohmystars tut — when in ’11? jen’s due in the middle of april
Congrats to you CTut! And a jolly good evening, 2010 almost history, Mercury about to go direct again.
i am — am looking forward to the new year because my future grandbaby
hey bg — how’s nm tonight?
that is definitely exciting! my concern is more mundane, trying to get the new windows installed before 1/1 (tax credit)
yikes — how many windows?
Figure about 8 mos…! ;-) Another Virgo…! *gah*
The Missus is none too thrilled…! I know my Mom will be none too thrilled…! Not pretty, a’tall…! *weee* A Babee…! *g*
Suzanne, this is an awesome find you’ve found !!
hey openhope — how’s the sound tonight? i’ve seen Animusic specials on PBS — and iirc, featured their harmonic voltage video a year or two ago…
Her Big Sister will be none too thrilled…! I think I’m her only safe harbor…! ;-)
9. and one brother who volunteered, but is as bad a procrastinator as i am :~)
my little sister beat me by 1 month, 30 days, for the first grandchild.
Btw, She’s gonna have to tell Grandma…! ;-)
yikes!!! that’s a lotta windows to install in one day — do ya have to have them installed or just purchased? and how will they know if they were installed on 12/31 or 1/1?
How will they know if the windows are installed by a certain day? There will not be any inspectors working on Jan 1.
Hi Suz, NM is snowy like crazy today. I-40 was pretty much shut down. I drove to LM’s today, no problems on the I-25 route. Snow in Santa Fe, not bad, and snow at LM’s, but who cares? I’m not doing a lot of driving now that I am here. Not supposed to have much snow the next few days.
technically they’re supposed to be ‘in use’ in 2010, but i’m not sure how they can actually tell.
how long are ya gonna be at lm’s this trip?
hmmmm if ya have at least one installed and ‘in use’ by the stroke of midnight tomorrow…
that’s what i’m hoping. :~) and it doesn’t require a building inspection; it’s just the IRS who cares…
your receipt is dated 2010 and it is not timestamped 12/21/10 at 11:59 pm…
that’s what i’m thinking…
Okay, I gave Harmonic Voltage their full view. I like them. I’m actually feeling less pain in my neck vertebrae after watching them play music up the spinal column. Or, in Openhope’s world,…that’s So not what the music was about, you silly Openhope.
So, there’s that.
the receipt is definitely dated 2010. and the old drafty windows are going to be replaced with energy-efficient new windows, which is the point of the tax credit, isn’t it? we’ll see
I go home on Sunday. LM has been sooo confused this week, but otherwise, she seems OK.
The only way you would get busted is IF they audit you and IF you have checks to pay people to install the windows that are dated after the first of the year. That’s what I guess.
How much trim out do you have? Are they made to fit the openings you have? I think it still takes a few days. A few hours per window, at least, and it depends what the demolition is to get to the openings. If you are doing something in a vague similar style, it should not be too hard, and it should go faster after the first couple.
if ya see animusic on your pbs schedule, be sure to catch it — it is amazing computer work and the music is energizing
Hi Suz and all, just stoppping by for a few. CT, congrats on your upcoming grandbaby!
hey ll — how’s nova tonight?
Tranquil, and we’re heading for a warm-up over the next couple of days. Temps in the 50′s, woo hoo!
Mahalo, LL and ya’ll, for the kind wishes…! *g*
tis forking cold here — tis 30 in tillamook and 34.3 here — weather dood said portland was 28
Brrr indeed, and it’s probably that damp cold huh — the kind that gets down in your bones :-( Huddle close by that fire!
I’m tired tonight. I did stop to take a few pictures on my drive up in the winter white landscape. It was very exciting to see my first bald eagle here, and there was a fat red-tailed hawk I chased for a little, but no photo.
clear skies but still damp feeling — actually saw some sun today — had a great sunset tho…. the fire is blazing and token is under the wood stove soaking up as much heat as he can
Speaking of cold, I ran across this video earlier today on my fave weather blog; short one, it documents the recent snowstorm in NYC, and it’s brilliant:
Man In A Blizzard
They’re in use, holding up the side of your house.:)
i love watching the bald eagles here — ever saw one in the wild until i moved up here
hey margot — how’s ohio tonight?
oooh I love those silvery blues and gold on the water — nice shots!
I finally had a real conversation with my sibling tonight about the real mental/fragile state of our mother. I let her be boss, call all the shots, lead the conversation any where she wanted. Because our mother is failing and that’s where it’s at. Whatever sibling shit needs to be dragged into the spotlight needs to be done now. It is a relief to be honest.
It’s a relief to say,”yeah, I get that I’m not Mom and Dad’s favorite child. You are, do you want ‘em, or should we shoulder this burden?. And don’t fuck with me or I’ll fucking leave you hanging as the favorite kid. Period.
thanks — it was strange seeing the sun — its been a couple weeks since it has showed up around here
g’nite openhope and i’m so sorry that your mom is failing and you had to have that talk with your sibling
Night openhope, hugs and I hope things wil get worked out.
Everyone has a hood, even the dog!
Here is James Carville’s ‘Little’ Alabama, temps will break 50 degrees tomorrow…
Warming up. We saw the sun today too.
Hey Margot :-)
I hope it dawned on your sibling…! And it does work out…!*g*
Isn’t that great — I loved the dog ;-)
I wish you the best openhope. It is a road, not much fun. I’m on it, giving my Little Momma the payback she should have. She sacrificed everything for us, now it’s my turn. She never played favorites, but it is no bed of roses for whomever the caregiver is. I hope your mom stays as sweet as mine. It must be hell to lose your mind.
hey robert — how was your day?
i felt sorry for the poor dog — his nuts were touching the snow it was that deep….
I had a hooded jacket like those when I lived in Madison. Cold is for the young.
I haz a tired :-( Better slink off. G’night Suz and everyone!
Heh I know — I bet the poor thing was so confused — thinking wtf is this?!
stephanie sent token the cutest little jacket with hood for christmas — its brown with brown, tan and orange wide stripes across the back (will make it easier to spot him when he hides in the shadows) and has fake fur trim on the hood. he does not like the hood (yet) and tries to shake it off his head when it is up
Nite LL, almost missed you
Thank you, all. It’s a bitch having a mother go down with a sister who’s not in your corner.
But, life has a way of dealing with issues that are almost stupid when you look at them from the end game.
The problem in our family DNA is that the end game can last until 102 years old. Fuck long, long life.!
So, we must continue to build our personalties and our duties.
Fuck, I hate that shit. :]
I made the best bed I could for Maybelline today before I left. She does not like to be in the house with the other cats unless I’m there, so she hangs in a little spot under the house where I have the washer and dryer. I have a heater in there on a timer to protect the washer from freezing, so I set it up to come on every other hour for an hour since it is supposed to be so cold this weekend. She has a snuggly little bed, and I put some wool rugs against the wall in the corner where she sleeps. I’m sure she will be fine, but I would rather be snuggling with her inside.
The cats were not liking the snow spitting that was happening this morning. I guess it started again after I left.
Been pressuring OpedNews to increase reportage and links to reportage of the hunger and homelessness of the newly poor millions in America. Corporate media mostly ignore or just give the scale of it lip service. I want Oped to do a feature article every day and join in partnership with other progressive sites to do the kind of journalism Rayne offered on Late FDL tonight: http://firedoglake.com/2010/12/30/late-night-we-screwed-ourselves-with-success/
It is my hope that by doing so, enough pressure will force the corporate media to do the kind of documentaries and print exposes like CBS used to do with their 60s CBS Reports….
looping marble machine
The caretaker gets blamed for a lot of stuff, it’s a hard job. I don’t know how it is for you, but I can’t count on my sister for much. I have brothers who are awesome, and that is a big help, but they live far away.
bailey doesn’t like the cold either — she’s currently curled up on a throw on the sofa.
that’s a great idea robert — the tradmed will only cover the problems of we non-rich people if we force them too
Interesting animation and great acoustic sound, Suz!
hey mzchief — how’s it on your side of the coast range tonight? glad ya liked it
I guess I’ll make like a cat and find a blanket to curl up in.
Ya got a big plan for the New Year’s bash yet Suz? We’ll be rested and ready!
Do you think they’ll really find these stories interesting, considering who their Masters are?
They will fight this knowledge. With every confiscated Public Airwave that Mr. Clinton gave them free access to.
Oy, time for bed.
Sweet dreams, may it be a new year of love and friendship.
Oh, yeah, the strings are awesome.
Folks might like this: “Lay This Body Down” performed by Alex de Grassi on a 6-string
g’nite bg — i’ve got a great video picked out for tomorrow’s lln thread…
there are links to other animusic videos upthread
My sister left me stranded with BOTH my parents in our house for 2 months when our mother fell.Broken ribs major issues. Didn’t even call or visit, lived 1 mile away. When shit hit the fan in my Dad and mine “thing”, she swooped in like a guardian angel and assumed dominance after they moved back to their house. Fucking C word we can’t say!!!
fuck — that is so fucking wrong of her
and if we force them to, then the heat will really get turned up enough to force correcting the behavior of Wall Street and the greedy rich.
It is the passive resistence that has been the missing link unthought of to provoke the outrage we all have been lamenting the lack of.
We’ve just not used the right tool under our nose because we’ve been looking in the wrong direction.
I wrote you on the prior thread about this cute pig but everyone had gone on to this thread. You might like the story (I left a link there to it).
the lack of attention paid by the television media to the troubles of regular folk should get their fucking license to broadcast revoke. the lesson of the vietnam war being shown every night on the nightly news has been perverted to don’t show it instead
Okay, I’m going to bed. Thank you for saying she’s wrong. Sometimes it’s the little things that allow us to move forward….if you’re Zen. I’m atheist. The bitch is going down!!!!!! :}!
I will check. I’m obviously avoiding calling it a night, though I know it’s in my best interests.
i have no doubt she will face the wrath of openhope — tis a formidable force you are
well i hope they won’t audit me! and in any case i won’t be paying for installation (will bribe my brother with something else–fancy restaurant meal?). there will be a good bit of demolition and trim, since the existing windows are old crumbly wood. same size, though, so hopefully no reframing. thanks.
“Greensleeves” arranged and performed by Alex de Grassi on a 39 string harp guitar
Everyone I know who’s dealing with this is having major problems with siblings not helping. It is hard.
pizza and beer while doing the installation?
Maybe the story will be the impetus for sweeter dreams as you retire. :)
wow — never saw a guitar like that before.. amazing sound
The stuff described in openhope @ 88 … seems to me like a lot of drama on her (the sister’s) part. Sounds very stressful.
:~) good point!
i’ve seen double necked guitars before but not a harp guitar..
happy lucky 100th comment mzchief!!!
True, but that leaves us to do the kind of reporting Rayne wrote about that unmasked the horrific human suffering during the Great Depression. Most of us have cell phones to take pictures and video to enhance the value of our reporting, even swamp You Tube and Facebook with the faces of homeless and desperate families where we find them.
We can really do this on our own. It is the key to bringing on the populists outrage we been frustrated to see.
it is what changed things in the Civil Rights movement, because pictures and video are worth a thousand words.
Thank you all for being here. Peace. I will not take out my sibling this day, I will find common ground, because it it within my power as a human. Etc,etc, etc……… :]
If it were only simple greed, but it’s not. It’s power and the lust for it.
This stuff has been around since at least the 1600′s, but now, technology allows for a reach in time and space never before possible, and they are using it.
We are FAPP, the natives being displaced by an irresistible force.
Resistance is futile, said the Borg, and they are the Borg.
yup — and folks seeing the actions of the few against the many every night on the news while eating dinner. i remember the horror of my parents when billyclubs were used on non-violent protestors
hey starbuck — how was your day?
Thank you. This is valuable, and coverage of these “facts” is oh so necessary.
I agree: all media ought to be doing a story every day to give a human face to all the statistics about foreclosures, unemployment, etc.
They do it for “Faces of the Fallen” and “Neediest Cases.” There are FAR more people involved in this. It deserves coverage.
if not us, who will?
hey mauimom — how ya doing? are you still off-island?
John Doan plays Fernando Sor Harpolyre 1830 (3-necked guitar)
Please, Starbuck, think about the potential of my idea instead of giving in to your programed defeatest instinct.
The revolution will be Facebooked and You Tubed. People identify with and get motivated by images of oppression. Fuck the corporate media. We don’t need their permission to photograph and digitalize the faces of American poverty.
It will work.
ohmystars — it must be very difficult to learn to play that so well
Yup, I’m in DC, and it’s FAR beyond my bedtime and my usual dropping by on Hawaii time.
and a lot colder i’m sure… even if dc didn’t get walloped like the other east coast states did by that storm
And on the lighter side, SyFy Channel starts is Twilight Zone marathon at 5AM est New Years Eve…
the original rod sterling twilight zone? dang, makes me wish i got syfy on my basic cable :(
crawling off–g’nite all
Yep, the original: http://www.syfy.com/schedule/index.php?date=2010-12-31
Read through most of the posts before chiming in. Congrats grandpa CTut. Best wishes openhope, I’m the same kid in my family but everybody is better resolved with their respect for one another. Hope the same for you.
Suzanne, hope you are well. I still marvel at how you can follow several conversations at once. ;)
Identifying accurately the problem and marking it up historically is hardly giving in, but rather, a sober reminder that using the same mindset that didn’t work before won’t work now. These guys are way ahead of us. It is warfare and they are good at it.
I have a totally different response. For openers, freedom vs bondage is an illusion. It is the egos response to accepting that it exists outside of ourselves, when the truth is that it doesn’t.
Right on. Don’t need their permission to show celebration and achievement either.
“Si tu m’aimes” performed by Jean Sablon (1936)
Good luck with those windows, they’d have that done in one show on this old house, should be a snap. :^)
the t/z i remember best is the one where the guy is going to be killed alongside the highway and his last act is to pray for a smart cop… the bad guys laughed and bashed him in the head with a rock — we knew the cop investigating the death was smart and knew it wasn’t an accident (as claimed by the bad guy) when he asked “how did he fall and hit his head on the side of the rock that was in the ground”. that episode stayed with me… powers of observation etc
Oh, and my day is fine, Suz. been printing some of my collection from at least 2000 photos taken just this year.
Are you keeping warm? It’s in the 20′s here, and even colder in SE Oregon. Burns is down to 4F.
hey nonq — how ya doing tonight?
tis 33.3 outside and 30 in tilly. the bay waters are keeping me a wee bit warmer than inland. forking cold even with those extra 3 degrees
My idea is not using an approach that failed in the past. In fact, it has always worked to overthrow the the oppression of millions of Americans by the elite from child-labor to the robber barons of that brought on the Depression to “Harvest of Shame” to Civil Rights to Bobby Kennedy’s poverty campaign.
Pictures and muckraking have always worked. We are the new media. It’s about time we used the same methods the old media used to pride itself by and do it as well…
It’s better than just whining about Obama all the time…
I often-times do that for a living, you’ll get a system down after the first one, are you putting new casing on the inside or restoring the existing interior look?
Holy smokes– “8-Year-Old Guitar Prodigy Stuns Audiences” (yeah he’s real deal)
Things are grand, I must have been being physically active enough to be tired and slept through at a normal bed-time lately.
Rain today and the snow is dissolving fast. Dropping to the single digits for a stretch starting about this time tomorrow is the forecast.
here is a diff 8 year old playing with buddy guy
yikes — i’ve had a 13 here but no single digits — of course, this is only my 3rd winter up here
The sucesses are met with success on the other side, which then meet with failure, then go on….
Get it? It’s cyclical, because there is no absolute. Oh, I am first to admit it is so seductive, coming out swinging and all that, and at times, it’s just about unavoidable.
Then don’t take up your camera for anything but snapping pictures of birds and flowers, Starbuck.
In the final analysis, cynicism wastes valuable time. Do something.
’bout time for me to head off. i’ve already got the heater warming up the bathroom and i’m gonna have a long, hot soak to chase the chill out of my bones
thank you for letting me spend part of your evening with ya tonight.
mzchief, I appreciate the tip on the WI finger-printing of four year olds, thank you very much. I sent it around to some state bloggers and got some feedback, like this.
Turns out the state repugs agenda is to try to cut 4-yr-old kindergarten to save money, now there’s some planning for the future of our state. /s
I love to see the kids take to music like ducks to water.
More adults rockin’ out: “Are You Going With Me” – Anna Maria Jopek with Pat Metheny
g’nite Suz and everyone, tea and pajamas awaiting. Be good and be well.
Weird! I haven’t the foggiest notion of which you speak. Have you ever seen my work? Do you even know who I am?
Thank you for the feedback and thank you for getting the word out far and wide. I just couldn’t stand the idea … it reminds me of a very horrible time when people were forced to display special symbols on their shirts and were tattooed. Just.Say.NO!
Gonna sign off too.
Me too. G’nite everybody. Dream with the angels.
