Pouting Baby doesn't understand why Governor Scottdemort hates people who don't have jobs. (photo courtesy of Jim White)
Pouting Baby is talking to us again. - JW
I noticed in the newspaper today that the people helping Florida’s new governor, Scottdemort, get ready for starting his new job had some very mean things to say about people who don’t have jobs:
The gist of the advisers’ comments: people drawing unemployment benefits aren’t working hard enough to find work.
But it turns out they weren’t even telling the truth. My mommy gets mad when I say things that aren’t true. Scottdemort’s helpers said that they were using work from Mr. Alan K. who used to work in Washington. But the newspaper talked to Mr. Alan K. about what the helpers said:
Reached via email, Krueger told the Tampa Tribune Thursday that the Scott team’s report misstated his findings.
In fact, Krueger confirmed today, his research revealed that the average amount of time spent job-searching is more than 40 minutes a day, not 20.
/snip/
“They seem to have misinterpreted my study,” the Treasury Department’s chief former economist said. “More importantly, those results were for the mid 2000s. The main problem we face now is an inadequate number of jobs, not inadequate search by the unemployed.
Why do Governor Scottdemort and his helpers hate people who don’t have jobs?

Governor Scottdemort
But that’s not all. More of the really rich people who help Governor Scottdemort also hate poor people who get sick:
Advisors to Governor-elect Rick Scott are questioning the need for the state’s public hospitals . . .
In a report dated Saturday, the group chaired by Alan Levine, former head of Broward Health, stated it is “unclear whether government should be in the business of operating a competitive enterprise using tax dollars as a subsidy without a thorough review of whether this model is the most beneficial and cost-effective way to use the tax revenue.”
But this newspaper knew why Governor Scottdemort and his rich helpers hate poor people who get sick:
The report to Scott, who was once head of the largest for-profit hospital chain in America, notes that some governments, such as Palm Beach County, give tax dollars to non-governmental hospitals to provide safety-net care for the poor and uninsured.
It looks like Governor Scottdemort and his rich friends want to go back to the days when he set the record for the largest fine ever paid to the government for stealing money that was supposed to be used to help poor, sick old people get better.

pouting baby!
Hi Suze.
are ya back from hawaii jim?
Hi Jim! Pouting baby does not understand hate yet. It’s all about hatred for fellow man/woman. It is a feeling of betterment and the filthy people that run the world are just not worthy.
I think Scottdemort might give Pouting Baby nightmares.
Heh. No, we’re on Maui now. We go back Tuesday.
Jim and Pouting Baby!
The rich really hate the rest of us and do not understand why we are not satisfied with the crumbs off their table to eat, a miserable hovel to house us, and a life expectancy of 35 years.
Scottdemort gives me nightmares.
Hiya, Doc. I think you described it pretty well.
scottdemort’s name sounds like a villain, pouting baby. his words and actions prove he is no hero
To get some idea of how far the Republican Party has come, compare this to Eisenhower’s letter to his brother:
Those stupid oil men now control the Republican Party.
Yup. The Texas oil men won. And the rest of the world lost.
Aloha, Jim…!
I’ll take my newly-elected Guv over yours’ any day of the week…! ;-)
Btw, it would happen to be mighty soggy for your vacation here, eh…?
Yes, and several business mean. They are all stupid. They have had way too much wine and cheese. Er, well cocktail weenies and scotch.
I was just talking below about the news coverage we have about the overflowing shelters and church missions. Do you think anybody in Washington knows of this? It is really getting past the pitiful stage.
Aloha. The only really soggy day was Sunday when we were still on Oahu. We didn’t check the radar and decided to drive to the “dry” side of the island. Just barely made it back past one spot where Kalaninole Highway was being closed due to high water. It was down to one lane when we came through. The rains also took out some transformers a couple of blocks from our hotel there, and internet went out there, too. Had to tether my laptop to my phone the last couple of days there.
I think the Washington folks would say the hungry people just aren’t looking hard enough for food.
How are you doing, Jim?
I’m in DC, and it’s a real trial to stay up late enough for LN. Usually I can plop right down after dinner.
Really? Forty minutes a day? I think I must be doing twice that.
The Villagers really do not care about those people, since they do not go to the same parties. Versailles on the Potomac.
CT, is it raining? [Something we Maui residents pray for. Sorry, Jim + other tourists.]
Sorry we were out of synch for getting together. We had a great walk down to the Nakalele blowhole today. It was incredible.
I’ve been calling him Voldescott but either way.
Ah, but averages can come from pooling many numbers with a wide variance. Your efforts would clearly stand out, even among those looking harder than most.
Well, health care was after all, Scottdemort’s primary concern in his prior life.
Floridans cannot say they were not warned.
P/Baby!
Fuck Rick Scott. Fuck anybody that profits from the suffering of other human beings. And fuck the right wing of this country just because they’re wrong on EACH AND EVERY fucking issue that ever comes up.
OOPS!!!
Sorry. My bad.
Guess I though this was a fuck thread.
*slinks away in shame*
Well, it’s pretty darn bad when all the church mission houses and city shelters are too full to add more. These people are showing up to sleep, not just eat. They are homeless, hungry, and jobless.
I think it needs more media attention. Cable news and such may get a reaction that is more than calling people lazy and stupid.
Not that much excitement here on the Big Isle…! Hilo town can handle the bulk of it, Oahu bore the brunt of it too…! Right now, I’d just unplugged my laptop since some thunder is rolling in…!
Just hope you have a great time.
Be sure to sample a REAL Maui pineapple ["Maui Gold"]. Accept no substitutes. You ought to be able to find one either in the Safeway in Lahaina or at a roadside stand. Again, look for the label that should be attached. Otherwise your pineapple will probably be imported from Puerto Rico.
Hawaii Land & Pine, which used to grow these, was so seriously mismanaged that they sold off lots of land and basically went under. However, a devoted local bought up some fields and is growing/selling Maui Gold pineapples. Hope you can find one.
Seen any whales?
Hiya, Newt. That’s what is so disgusting about him winning the election. They ran these really creepy ads during the campaign where him Mom gushed about what a good boy he was. I thought I would barf.
That’s okay. Pouting Baby is probably asleep by now. Let ‘em rip. Especially when aimed at Scottdemort.
hey ofg — no slinking away dood
It’s been raining up and down the Isle chain and all the Summits have been getting snow/sleet…! Off and on for the past 4-5 days…!
Scottdemort would really hate me and the chair I sit in. I haven’t had a job in 2 3/4 years now. Like my friend up thread, I look constantly for work. There is none to be found.
Maybe Jim but I’m always telling myself I must not be looking hard enough. I’ve been FORCING myself to take this week off. I realized late last week that the last day off I had was the Sunday before I got laid off. I still had an unscheduled interview on Tuesday which went pretty well I thought.
It was clear when we left on Monday afernoon, but had rained on Sunday. Glad to have it, but sorry for Jim.
The problem is that our national media are hopelessly compromised. They work for giant corporations, their incomes tend to be in the top 5-10%, and they hang out with the rich and powerful. If they reported the actual story, they might start feeling guilty and thinking maybe they should give up a little of their own privilege to help the needy. Much easier and less inconvenient to simply call them all lazy, shiftless bums.
Oh yeah and I also wrote a diary here on Wednesday so that wasn’t really a day off either.
Dang. These guys really make my blood boil, dissing people like you.
Actually going to a live music venue tomorrow. I wouldn’t be going but I was invited by the band. Gotta love musicians.
Florida deserves this demon. I’m sorry for saying it, but it’s true.
OFG took the words right out of my mouth.
And what a diary that was. Thanks again for that.
Boy you are spot on in that. DrDick.
Also, think about his. The people who are writing these stories are employed. Think about the thousands of reporters who were laid off or fired who might be better suited to write this story. That is who should be telling the story of the unemployed.
Yeah, I guess so. It will be in their faces soon. I hate it, I am having a hard time myself. Thank goodness my children are in their 20′s and not little anymore.
They aren’t so much ruling caste as much as toadies to the ruling caste. People like Andrea Greenspan for example should be fired.
Well, the electorate there has been pretty stupid lately.
Wow, that’s a great idea.
yay!!! sounds like a fun nite peggy
LOL! Jim, you don’t know how it makes my fists clench when I see them on the tube talking that shit!
I could have re-routed the cargo ships and ruined these people!
No prob Jim. I’m glad you enjoyed it and very gratified by how well received it was. I couldn’t have made a better choice about where to publish it. Thanks to everybody who gave me such positive feedback. :)
Spot on spocko. But then Vulcans have always been very logical, at least when not wearing fedoras.
YES! They would get awards for it too! Come to Charlotte and do a story. The headquarters of big ol BOA, where there are homeless that used to work for them when Georgie Porgie was in office!
i keep a basket of rolled up socks handy to toss at the forkers on the teevee machine
Just like New Jersey is learning that Corzine may have been a self centered douche but he wasn’t an evil self centered douche. There is a distinction.
Oh, absolutely. Pampered courtiers to the real powers, but they know which side their bread is buttered on and who butters it. The same is mostly true for our politicians as well. Only a few, mostly in the Seanate, are actually members of the real elites (top 1% or perhaps top 0.1%).
Well that’s good news. Pouting baby does well enough without having to endure my language.
I could learn a lot from a pouting baby…. *g*
yep. I’ve converted all the socks that are too torn up to wear anymore into screen grenades.
Or my son, who’s been unemployed since his graduation from college in May [journalism major] could write about how all of the jobs he’s applied for [entry level] are being filled by folks with 12-15 years experience, but who are willing to take an “entry level” position at “entry level” wages, leaving nothing for the new folks.
Yes. This is Calvinism recast. I work hard and am rich therefore I know best.
What about people who don’t work hard and are rich? Are they attacked with the same gusto? No, because they are not “leeching off society” yet the rich might be leaching off society in a different way, many of them are actively getting money delivered to them for sending jobs over seas. They get money for they destruction of the economy with their CDS. But the difference is that they held a gun to the head of the government and said, “Give us the money of your people and your grandchildren or we will kill the US right now.”
That kind of threat should have been met later with jail time.
I read it last night and it was a really moving and powerful peace. Thank you for sharing that.
Ooops! There I go again. bashing banks. I’m just so bad.
Can’t help myself.
Goobernor Scottdemort paid millions in personal loot (acquired by ripping off Medicare) to fool voters (with tv ads advocating for smaller gubmint, lower taxes and drug testing welfare cheats) to become Fladuh’s gubner.
Scottdemort and his buddies are now preparing to loot the Florida Treasury by:
Privatizing (piratizing) Everything!
Charter Schools (Voucher Program Funded), Private Hospitals, Private Prisons, Private Everything.
Divert Public Money to Private Friends!
Florida is about to get busted out by Scottdemort and his buds.
Yeah. Human societies far too often devolve into the model of the ruling elite and their privileged, toady court versus everybody else. Some of my ancestors were run out of France because they were privileged toadies.
Glad you like it DrD. It means a lot coming from you.
OMG yes. Didn’t read it until late so didn’t respond there, but WOW.
Don’t know if she’s still here but damn that was good. On point, factual, and just personal enough to make the points she was trying to make with feeling.
A VERY powerful diary.
They get government money. Don’t fool yourself. I’m working on a diary to put up here after the holidays. They get money left, right, up, and under from the government and pocket all the proceeds!
Actually the rich are leeching off society and to a much greater extent than all the “welfare queens” combined. The are a rentier class that produces nothing and serves no useful function. The days when the capitalists actually ran companies are long gone.
Good night, folks. Time to head out to dinner. Thanks for great comments and for caring about one another.
Thanks OFG. :)
Night Jim!
It’s a dirty job, but somebody needs to do it. Personally I am torn between blowing them up and hauling all of their executives off to GITMO.
Yeah, kinda hard to slink when your back is still thrown out….
g’nite jim
I’d be willing to bet that any random dozen of them are leaching off society more than all of the “welfare queens” combined.
That is what Republicans do. In the last thirty years the have become the kleptocrat party.
Nite, Jim. Enjoy your family and friends! They are all that really mean anything in this world!
LOL!!
If it were a fuck thread, damn right!!!!
That woulda been a good un!!!!
Some of mine were run out of Bavaria for taking rather violent exception to the elites and their toadies.
All that’s left for them to do is say the words. “Let them eat cake!”
Or anything along those lines. ;-)
Enjoy!
Far too often these “hard working, smart people” inherited their money and had nothing to do with accumulating it. NOT that them getting rich by being clever gives them the right to dictate to me. Just saying that most of the time they aren’t even clever. Just rich.
Any one of them.
Scottdemort “won” by the skin of his teeth. Like Bush v Gore, The election was within the margin of error for a recount.
Like Gore and John Kerry, without a fight, Alex Sink laid down and conceded to the Criminal Republican (oxymoron).
Mine were ran out of Scotland because they didn’t like the Austerity Plan that England planned.
Yeah, some of mine from my dad’s side were run out of Prussia for similar reasons.
I think they already have.
I believe it but I’m prone to over design. :)
Please don’t feel bad just because of assholes like Rick Scott, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, or any other asshole out there.
You know your situation, and everyone with a brain knows the economic situation. I haven’t worked in 10 years so if anyone here is a deadbeat, it’s me, not you.
Please don’t knock yourself out. And please don’t give up.
I’m not sure this country is worth fighting for anymore, but I am sure YOU are. Keep. Fighting.
I am a bit of a throw back in the family. The original immigrants participated in the 1848 socialist uprising. I am also a proud 4th generation union member (maybe longer, but I only know going back to my great grandfather), even if mine is rather a pissant NEA union and my father was only a member for about 6 months before he got drafted.
Sure could’ve saved myself a lot of money if my pile of bricks had been socks instead….. (not sure the pleasant feeling would’ve been the same though????)
Awww! That’s sweet. I’m not giving up. I’m just really fed up. If the teabaggers can get the jobs started, I’ll cheer for them. I won’t vote for em, but I will cheer.
This is just my kind of thread. I’d like to run something by the fine folks here.
Why Are Only the Rich fighting the Class War?
I have some theories. I’d like to hear yours.
1) The rich have the time and the inclination to get more, and to get it from people they see as weaker–the middle class and poor. They won’t fight each other because they know that the other rich will fight back.
I have some suggestions for how we fight back.I’d like you hear yours.
1) We fight back not with guns, or protests but with actions that specifically focus on the corporate persons the greedy humans hide behind.
The people spending time looking for work could spend some time figuring out how to defund the greedy corporate persons.
The energy would go to forcing the corporate persons to pay their fair share of taxes. We are on the side of the rule of law with this strategy.
The actions would go to helping the IRS, DOJ and the SEC because when done correctly, you get a portion of the recovered taxes or part of the fines. These three Whistleblower programs could give people hope, and money. The DOJ, the IRS and the SEC are the ones with programs.
All three are set up to force the corporations to follow the law. The people who provide the right information will be able to get up to 15 percent of the recovered assets. Imagine forcing Halliburtion to pay 100 million in back taxes and you and your team of unemployed getting 15 percent.
That’s my idea.
OMG.
How ironic is that? A JOURNALISM major is having a hard time finding a job in an environment where real journalism is scarce.
Sums up the good ‘ole US of A today, I’d say.
Mine were ran out of New York State for being ‘loyalists’…! ;-)
Damned. Right. It. Should. Have.
Well said.
Spocko!
Excellent Idea. Are you sure the new whistleblower laws are in line with that? I mean, I am no longer an insider but I can sure pull up some info and contact the SEC!
Sink lost by more than 60,000 votes, by more than 1%, out of 5 million cast. I don’t recall anybody spending his own fortune to try to buy an office in FL before. Not to the tune of $75 million, anyway.

It’s the path of least resistance. Almost everybody is inclined to take that path. The rich would rather fleece the poor because as you say, the other rich will fight back and the poor are kept clueless and hopeless, like a rancher keeps livestock. The poor will also take the path of the least resistance and as long as they can get a big mac once in a while and watch football on Sunday, a lot of them can wear blinders and be more or less happy, or at least not miserable enough to want to start some shit and take a chance on an uncomfortable stay in jail. All revolutions it seems like start with the most tiny, innocuous thing. A new tax, a bullshit law, even a flippant remark. They always go too far because once you open your heart to greed, it cannot be sated.
I like your idea as well.
Margaret, looks like we have some work to do!
Right now the SEC program is being developed. The DOJ program is the best. The IRS program is crummy. The SEC program might be crappy like the IRS program, but even if it is, we can use it as a way to force the issue with corporations.
There is a lawyer in SF who specializes in this stuff. I’m going to contact him after the holidays. There can be two programs. One that is designed to work with lawyers and one that is designed to engage people to channel their anger in a fashion that isn’t violent. I don’t want people getting violent, it is counter productive and it doesn’t pay.
I want people to use their time, intellect and the law against the people who have been fighting us for decades.
Workers of the world unite! All you have to lose is your chains!
Sounds great. Keep me posted as you learn. I will continue with my work on the post I plan for after the holidays. It’s a big corp and it shows how money comes out of the government till and straight to their profits.
PeasantParty and Margart:
Here is the article from the lawyer who specializes in this.
What I’d like to do is pick some targets such as NewsCorp and the Koch Brothers companies (as well as other big right wing companies) and look for violations of the law, the tax code and SEC rules.
I’ve been developing a case against Rupert Murdoch in a violation of Sarborne Oxley act of 2002. It might not yield the kind of fine that other violations have, but it is based on the fact that Murdoch is not telling his investors the truth about the impact of lost advertisers on NewsCorp revenues. We will have both the SEC and the Investors on our side.
I look forward to your post!
Think I will toddle off. Take care all. Thought I would leave you with a couple of images of Christmastime in the northern Rockies that I took this afternoon on the Clark Fork River.
g’nite dr dick — thank you for the eye candy — wow
As do I. I’m going to turn in now as well. Goodnight all.
Dr. Dick,
Indeed! Time for the tables to turn.
g’nite peggy
I bookmarked it. I’m getting so sleepy I can’t fully retain it now. I will look for you here after the holidays and we can get going.
I can tell you that there are always safety violations at Koch plants but those kinds of laws don’t get enforced until a lot of people die and sometimes not even then. Look at BP.
Bless ya Mr. White.
N bless Pouting Baby.
Yer both all over it . . .
Dawg help us all . . .
Nice rant.
Always rcc’d when I can . .
;-)
HMM . . . I’m SURE I’ve seen a list here at FDL about Oil Men and their CEO’s.
N it’s about as fugly as the list of those business men/CEO’s in big Oil and our 1% elite and bankers/investors.
Not that you or the rest of us don’t know all that.
*G*
JIm, all I got left is that it’s not over till it’s over.
N it’s gonna be over cuz it’s unsustainable.
N history shows that empires fail.
It’s only a matter of time.
I hope that helps me, you, and all Pups to find the heart to ride it all out.
Till then . . . ;-)
Nah, they is all fuck threads . . . I hope.

Pineapple soaked in rum is the best pineapple.
