i’m freezing but the thermometer says it is 55 outside… i’ve had that damp chill thing going on all day. critters are keeping close to the fire, esp now that the breeze is starting. we may get gusts up to 50 tonight when this next storm comes ashore.

Though above freezing today, we had this superfine snow crystal blowing all over us — felt chilled to the bone.

i’ve had a 93 since i’ve been up here… its when the gusts hit 60 plus that i start to tweak. the critters are adapting and don’t freak out as much as they did 2 years ago

Hi there Suz, CE and newt. It snowed a little at LM’s tonight, seemed like it would be slick walking on the street by now, but I drank some wine at dinner and went to sleep on the couch, my sister is here with me, so she watched LM and the TV.

Hard to believe it was so beautiful just a few nights ago when the sky was clear and the air was warm during the eclipse.

Happy Christmas bgrothus! I’m glad to be off work tomorrow, well, today. How is everyone spending Christmas Eve? Because we will be home (YES, MsCE and MrCE and me all around the fire with cheese and champagne) I hope that others will be happy too.

Thanks, ce. Christmas is not my favorite holiday. What I like is that people are taking time to be together. That’s what I like, and also, baking. I did not have time to shop except maybe a half hour this year. I did buy groceries and have been baking. That is what I had time to do, while hanging with LM.

I bought wine tonight. I decided to drink a little. Next summer gonna grow some greens for these nights, that’s what I decided. Don’t tell anyone.

Years and years ago, MrCE bought me a grocery store holly plant, that we knew would die before planting season. Well, it didn’t die, and now 20 years later,that little holly plant gives me a room of holly cutting every December!

Hi firepups! I’m back in Texas for a week and taking a full week away from studying. How are y’all?

Even though my fruitcake had barely a week to moulder, it turned out great. I figured out that if I freeze it, I can cut thin slices of it. Otherwise, a lumpy fruity mess. Not that it affects how it tastes, but I think it is better if it is in neat slices that each little piece of fruit can be savored. The recipe I used called for orange marmalade and candied ginger. That is what sold me on it.

Yes, it can be a jolt. I remember that part so well. I still can see some of those images in my head, feel the feelings. I had a friend my first semester away who used to say, “I’ve been around, and I’ve been around twice.” I had not been around at all. It was hard.

Well, The Jennifer’s going to rest up tonight, then I’ll join her and The Sweety in the morning to clear away a pile of presents from the tree and deliver them to family and friends.

We’ll lunch wherever they decide, but, due to government warnings, stay away from the buffets and salad bars.

I adore my kid. She can barely afford her Philadelphia life. But she won’t move back home to restabilize.

I like FB. I know some people really are afeared of it. But just this week (tonight even) I found an old friend. And LM was stewing about some people she had not heard from, so I found their son on FB, found out his folks are fine, their card came in the mail that day, and now he and I are also friends on FB.

It is a good networking tool. Lots of ways to organize and communicate on line. No wonder they want to take it away or charge us to use it. Fucking fuckers.

The weather was totally clear driving today, but it was raining when I left home, so I did not put out luminarias this year, first time just about ever. I could not face the soggy bags when I get home, and it was too much to expect my neighbors to do it for me tomorrow. So I have a sad empty house this year.
