There are a lot of Holiday traditions that people know and love. Being kind at least occasionally, spending time with family, music and cookies and liquor and trees.
But I’m going to guess, one of those holiday traditions is not Bill Kristol writing bad parodies of bad poems?
But that is apparently just the tradition Kristol, who you must admit did bring back the tradition of invading countries for stupid reasons, wants to aim for.
And what better than re-writing ‘A Visit from St. Nicholas‘ a poem already so trite it seemed beyond making worse, but this is Bill Kristol we’re talking about.
Obamacare’s reeling, there’s progress in ’Stan,
It’s important next year that we stick with the plan.
By then we’ll have entered the era of Boehner:
Our pocketbooks fuller, our politics saner.
Is that a re-write of Clement Clarke Moore or a line from The Joker in The Dark Knight?
The ‘Era of Boehner’? I don’t think my tear ducts could take it.
Here’s the fuller “pocket book” that Bill Kristol considers “saner”.
Well, Kristol’s pocket-book is fuller — and he’s as just as “sane” as ever.

About Firedoglake
Can we please have mandatory brain scans for signs of life required of all politicians?
Anyway, it seems like Vogon poetry to me. My ears bled.
Rheumatism! Take that, Roget!
Is crapaclysm a word? ’cause it’s sure what we got going.
Speaking of which… over at the Great Orange Ostrich Haven some people have noticed that Obama will announce the next stage of the dismemberment of Social Security at his State of the Union address. The Obamatrons are out in force patrolling the resultant diaries, natch.
What Kristol needs is another war to cheer him up. Iran? North Korea? Mexico? Sandy Claws doesn’t have to be picky, any will do.
A quick check of teh googly reveals:
Apparently so. Especially if you’re into video games. Teh googly has spoken!
Logan’s Law: The dumber the right-winger, the smarter he thinks he is.
Aren’t you supposed to call your doctor immediately if “The Era of Boehner” lasts more than four hours?
LOL!
Stop taking da Boehner and contact your mental health professional immediately if you experience any of the following dangerous thoughts which may result from an underlying inability to empathize with others less fortunate than yourself: [Insert Republican party platform here].
Sad indeed, that some one actually pays Kristol for his damages to the truth. At least Ernst & Young can be sued for deceiving investors; http://abcnews.go.com/Business/wireStory?id=12437476
Where the leaders after WWII knew the importance and value of everyone and anyone has.The Low,Secound and Third ievel. With this chart it’s easy to see that the leadership of the Baby Boomers only care for the fourth level upper middleclass and the top 5% owners.
Yes, I got slammed when I said Obama would eat a spoonful of cat food at the SOTU and tell everyone it was pretty good.
Ah, Kristol. He has his wealth coming in from MIC stock and behind the scenes Control Freaks like the Koch brothers.
NOTHING he says is valid to America. Everything he says is against the citizens of this country.
If my math is correct (doubtful at any time of day) the lowest top 5% increased their income by three times more that the lowest income on the chart from 1980 to 2008; 29% to 10%. It is no wonder the rich are bitchin’.
Good morning, pups. It’s The Pasty Little Putz and Krugman today. If it’s Christmas then obviously all Christians must be being attacked in the streets, right? According to The Pasty Little Putz it’s “A Tough Season For Believers.” He whines that Christmas is hard for everyone, but it’s particularly hard for people who actually believe in it. Cripes. Prof. Krugman, in “When Zombies Win,” says free-market fundamentalists have been wrong about everything — yet they now dominate the political scene more thoroughly than ever. Kiss America goodbye — we’re well and truly fucked.
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and the biscuits are out of the oven. If you think The Putz is bad this week, ponder that next week we’ll probably have to suffer through a “top 10″ list of some goddamn thing he’s all agita about… Now I’m off to pack “Santa bags” for the folks we give Christmas treats to. Have a great day.
Woo-Hoo! That makes my day! Of course it will surprise me if anything real comes of it. Notice where the story originated from?
BANGALORE (Reuters)
Sheesh!
I believe nakedcapitalism has an article on the story.
Funny isn’t it, that much news is printed in foreign press – then picked up here. I always check BBC to see what’s going on.
How about “despotism?”
Thanks. It is unusually early for me today. I haven’t read the financials yet or been to Bloomberg.
Yep. Our news has to spill their daily talking points and hatred to keep us from seeing the real stuff.
That chart really says it all, Attaturk. We the people have been left out of the abundance our country has to offer.
And for those of us that do not believe in all the fantasy, faerie crap the usurpation of our solstice celebration by the religionists is a sad thing.
Hard to take Friedman’s pontificating on the obvious as self-assumed “insight” this early.
I had forgotten all about the year-end top ten lists. I suspect Obama’s Great Compromise will be up there.
Eclipse of the Moon tonight. Will you have a fire pit?
He may be “pontificating on the obvious,” but he’s also, unfortunately, a voice crying in the wilderness.
No, at these temperatures I have a woodstove that will suffice.
Anyone notice this? The U.S. and several other nations asked the strongman who lost the election to step aside and apparently he’s not willing to that just yet.
In other news, time to stock up on chocolate, boys and girls. The price of that Dove bar is about to rise.
The people that we elevated to leadership some stood up beside the WWII Generation in the 1960.The Leadership of the Baby Boomers knew what to say so thay could stay in charge at the same time there focus was to become Upper Middle Class 4th.level.When faced with the decision is it good for working class citizens the Baby Boomer leaders only looked to see if it was good for the upper middle class and the top 5%.For 40 years the leaders for the Baby Boomers has taken away what the WWII generation built for the Low,2nd,3rd,4th and the 5% at the top. While now the Baby Boomer Leadership wants your Grandchildren to pay for the upper Middle Class success. The Pledge for Baby Boomer leaders[Take from the bottom up and there grandchildrens future.
Hypnotism! And… um… rutabaga!
I did see that last night. Makes me sick. But I have no idea how to get a voice into Washington. They are inside traders up there in many ways, not just in Corporate stocks.
Well, not exactly.
Boomers’ parents were far more right of center and fiscally conservative than they were. And it was gen-x that was tagged as the “me” generation.
What you see in power now are retreads from the Reagan administration which, you might recall, was led by a man who once pitched borax soap back in the days when television was broadcast in black and white. You know, pre-boomer.
I’m not about to defend everyone born post-WWII and the Korean whatever-it-was. War. Police action. Conflict. I’ll simply say you’re painting with a bit too broad of a brush. There was no secret code passed on to them. There was no language to learn.
It’s all about capitalism, my friend. Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.
Good morning, all.
Then new words are needed to match the “new” nepotism.
How about kleptoism?
Or corporism?
Or selfism?
Or greedigoodism?
All leading to serfism
Hmmm … ism a beginnism … one ho-pism.
;~DW
For schizzleism!
That’s the spiritism!
Yes!
We canism!
:~DW
Don’t know about you but I’ve had enough of the slow boil. I’m at the point now that I wish they would go ahead and get it all over with.
President Obama will tell us soon that Social Security and Medicare is gone with the Wind.
It will be the cloud that floats over the MIC and TBTF.
No!
We mustn’t againism!
Can we have an honest manism this timeism? Like maybe Dennis Kucinichism?
That sounds kind of cool, actually. Kucinichism.
Solipcism. And, and, and…?
What I do know that the gaines for the Low,2nd,3rd,4th and the 5% at the top were made in the 1950 and 1960 after the 1970 the only real gains were made by the upper middle class and the top 5% and have seen losses in the low,2nd,and 3rd levels.I still see the hands of the Baby Boomer leadership on the lack of jobs and where it takes 2 to earn what it took 1 to earn in the 1960 and 1970.
Ah, digustism.
And most appropriate it ism …
Cloudism foreverism.
The perpetual fogism of hubrisism.
The rate of “fall” is accelerating, PP, but denied by political class – ism.
Ism not Obamabullism grandism?
;~DW
Leads to despairism.
Good morning all.
If he does, Florida will secede.
Let’s just alter the rules of the insurance mandate. Free to those making $250,000/year or less. So long, Medicare. Next, mandated 401k’s free to those making $250,000/year or less.
We’ll pay for it by dropping every weapons program the Pentagon doesn’t want but Congress funded anyway.
I see no problems here, only creative solutions. Next.
Elitism! Your turn.
cretinism
‘The sad truth is that even when presented with concrete and irrefutable evidence, some people still prefer the reality they want over the one they actually live in. Herein lies one of the central problems of engaging with those on the American right. Cocooned in their own mediated ecosystem, many of them are almost unreachable through debate; the air is so fetid, reasonable discussion cannot breathe. You can’t win an argument without facts, and we live in a moment when whether you’re talking about climate change or WMD, facts seem to matter less and less.’

As a “bookend” to Kucinichism do we have Paulism?
We certainly have had a lot of Palinism, more than enough one thinksism.
Remember, PHP, do not let perfectionism becomeism the enemaism of the goodism …
Ism “ism” universal in its applicationism?
To beism or not to beism, that ism the question.

How about a cut off date? Say this year is the last year to collect the SS tax and those people will not have the insurance or medical coverage. Instead, they will be able to participate in whatever that magic program the GOP want to install.
Good morning all.
Whenever the world seems so fetid and insane, I remember that 70% of the universe is dark energy; 25% is dark matter; the remaining 5% is composed of the galaxies, stars, planets, light, matter; of that 5%, we aspire to be a speck.
Morning, Ecahn. Ruth had some good news re: Lehman. You can find it here:

Creative solutions.
Articulated that way, your insights should, if made known to the people, take you all the way to the White House.
Don’t know if you’d want the job, but you’d do far better a job than I’ve seen in my sixty-three-odd years, PHP.
Seriously.

No argument there, but who has their hands on power now isn’t a product of their generation as much as it is their politics. You may see boomers everywhere. Most of them are old guys now. What about the young politicians? Do you imagine Sarah Palin would be an improvement? Do you imagine she’s a boomer, too?
This is the inexorable march of capitalists to free themselves from the (to them) onerous chains binding them to good behavior on their part. It’s not one generation or another that’s doing this. It’s men and women of a certain ilk that just want it badly enough to plot for decades to get their way. And their way apparently is fascism. Who knew? /s
It helped that they had bushels of money to throw around, especially recently since enough regulations were eviscerated to allow boom and bust cycles to really rise and fall dramatically.
That’s not boomers and non-boomers. That’s international investors from around the globe of all ages, too. They all want to get rich quick and they all want the government to look the other way as they fleece us.
Frankly, some investment brokers I’ve seen would sell their mothers – scratch that – sold their mothers for coffee in the morning.
Without an earnest effort to rein in capitalism, I’m afraid we’re in for a rough ride for years to come. Hopefully there will be some sustained patches of stability along the way, but I doubt it very much until our land values, cost of goods and services and the overall cost of living in America all drop to much lower levels than today.
I su-speck that we is but specks when we expire, as well, mlmc.
Specks, coming and going, oblivious to the universe and even the speck of paradise we all, so fortunately, inhabit …

Be comforted that in the face of all aridity and disillusionment,
And despite the changing fortunes of time,
There is always a big future in computer maintenance.
My son would be in that group. I don’t think I like that plan. How about this one?
Republicans and their children can opt into whatever plan the Republican party and its indentured lobbyists concoct while everyone gets my plan automatically at birth.
I second that precise outlook. Which is why I am tired of the slow boil and wish it were over with already.
Did you know that New Balance shoes are still made in America? Not all of them, but some are and I for one will wear sneakers instead of Global made.
Wonderful! I think we worked that issue out just fine!
No worry we’re in good hands. Obama has said he will work to find consensus with the Republicans, and the Republicans have said their number one priority is making sure Obama is defeated in 2012.
Alrighty then! Obama has made it far too easy for the repugs.
Not necessarily so, O sage one. If the universe is created by plasma jets forming a plasma hologram, quantized, why you and I are merely enjoying one of the exquisite simulated universes at the Arcade at the End of the Galaxy. Time as we know it is irrelevant there. Perhaps a day is as a thousand years and a thousand years is as a day. I know there have been times where World of Warcraft seemed that way…
I dunno exactly when we’ll both be out of here, but if you want to nosh later, let’s ditch the VR probes, find Cheney, and toss his ass into that OTHER universe.
You know, the one where all the lost socks have gone? Yeah. That one.
Then we’re all in agreement. See! Negotiations work!
You is quantum, this morning, PHP.
As we useta say, in a bygone “unit”, Right Effin’ On!

The investment brokers are not the only ones that will sell out family. What I’ve seen in my life was how quick the Baby Boomers that took the Gaines of the WWII generation leaders built in the 1950 and 1960 and started selling out the Low,2nd,and 3rd level in the 1970′s.I remember in 1975 hearing the Owner of the co I worked for and his son argue about fireing some of the people in there late 50′s and 60′s.Father in his late 70′s son a Baby Boomer.Thay did not know I could hear them. The father told the son the men you want to put on the street there the reason you have the life you have and we have enough money to pay them if thay never make another dime for the co..After chipping away at the income and benifits his father put in place in the 1950′s and 1960′s.the son trashed the co.and by the late 1980 the quality, quanity and profit of work went down. The son is no longer in that business.I’ve seen this happen more than once.
As I mentioned to someone last night, please don’t go painting the entire Boomer generation with that broad brush. I’m 58, a member of the Boomers, underemployed and I and many others have been fighting the same fight against the “I’ve got mine, Eff you” crowd as you are fighting.
Just because you worked for a Boomer who was an a** does not mean all Boomers are that way.
And it’s not just Boomers who p*ss away an inheritance and destroy a company. There was an aphorism I heard when I was a kid:
The first generation builds it
The second generation maintains it
The third generation destroys it
Then what we have arrived at is the crapocalypse. Perhaps the Coppolas will make Crapocalypse Now, a retelling of T. S. Eliot’s “The Hollow Men”: “Not with a bang, but a whimper”.
