zed – evening, CT
Hi CT!
Good evening CT.
I’ve switched my activities from outdoor work to indoor cooking and my whole time table has gone wacky. When I was doing outdoor stuff, I’d fall asleep crazy early & sleep for crazy long. Now that I’m no longer using the physical energy, I must be living off all that pent-up sleep, as I stay up late, and don’t sleep particularly late in the morning.
How’ve you been?
Congrats, PPD…! ;-)
eCAHN and LS…! How are you two fine ladies doing this fine eve…! ;-)
Stooges!
How’d you know, Tuttle?!?
Hey PPDCUS! How goes it? And hey to CT our host!
CT! Pups!
I am thinking longingly of Hawaii when i look out at our 12 or so inches of snow. I don’t love snow the way i did when i was a wee farmgrrrlll.
Nyuh, nyuh, nyuh…! ;-)
Hey, CT!
What’s on my mind is that war is a bad, bad, bad thing. We’re watching Pearl Harbor. Just heart breaking.
Aloha, CE and ndfg…! I hope the snow banks aren’t piled too high in ya’ll’s parts…! ;-)
Atheist baking Xmas fruit cakes today, LOL. Devising recipe for hors d’oeuvre to bring to party next Sunday, butternut squash based.
It was a good week for house projects. Wood bin covers (the fanciest ever seen, made by my niece’s husband who used to be in the awning biz & still has a sewing machine & a seamstress who will do custom work) were installed before the big rains on Wednesday. And curtain drain on the far side of the driveway was also completed before that (after 6 months of begging & pleading with my driveway guy); seems to have worked beautifully. Newish wood stove that never worked properly was swapped out for a new version of the former one I had which worked like a charm. I’ a happy camper on personal stuff.
The state of the world, not so much.
Hey CT,
Reply not working right, I fear. Snow, serious Lake Effect Snow coming tonight until Tuesday night! Break out the shovels and blowers! MsCE doesn’t have snow tires yet, but we have a brand new spanking four on the Honda!
No snow here yet, but it has turned cold with strong winds. Bitter today, despite sunshine.
Yum…! The best kind…!
I had an uncle, Robert E. Lee, who was a navy cook. He was on 4 ships that were sunk, one in the original Pearl Harbor attack. At least he claimed he was. I asked him if other ships were reluctant to take him on board, given his record.
Fruit cakes not as physically exhausting bush hogging, huh? You could do jumping jacks in between adding ingredients.
I’m up late because I took a late nap.
Gawd, I hope this movie doesn’t give me nightmares.
we just had somewhere around 5-9″ inches dumped on us friday night, everything looks all pretty and glistening. Except for my back yard, which looks like a snow explosion, thanks to the antics of a 6 yr old and two dogs.
Good news re your home stuff! Such a good feeling to have that stuff done before Weather hits. We’re happy with our newly installed exterior doors and storms. Lets in more light, and keeps out more cold. Lurv ‘em!

Sounds like my eldest shall be digging out her ride in the morning…! ;-)
You got that right. I’m thinking of combining it with parsley root, butter, cardamom, a few other ingredients. I’ve never used parsley root though; I am unsure about how it will taste with the squash. I think I’ll cook a little parsley root by itself & taste it before I try the grand experiment.
Yikes.
And, my middle name is Lee, being somehow related to The Robert E. Lee. I wonder if you and I are distantly related. Hmmm?
It was moving cords of wood that wore me out.
Don’t mind being untired for awhile. That too will change.
Yes, I don’t remember seeing you up this late, but you do get up really really early.
Cardomom is a good fit…! I think the parsley root will work too…! ;-)
My old house has small windows & thick walls, so nothing to be done about that. But I used to visit a friend’s ski house in VT with sliding glass doors on two sides of the living room. I remember when he had the original metal frame ones replaced with wood frame ones, with newly sealed thermopane. Such an improvement. So I can imagine that you’re a happy camper too.

Tried, but still nothing. This is just a cut and paste, but thanks for trying to help. Hmmm… nor can I preview.
I’m no relation of The REL. My mother’s paternal side fought for the north in the civil war.
Aloha, demi…! It is an honor to see ya at this ungodly hour…! ;-)
What does parsley root taste like? I imagine it’s got a mild flavor, but is the overtone bitter, sweet, what?
Try rebooting. It seems to be the computer miracle drug.
We appreciate the effort.
You are seeing an ad or other item in the page prevent full loading, and this is blocking availability of the features you mentioned.
We are working on it. Sorry for the hassle.

Ya’ll are the bestest techies…! ;-)
Usually, but I hope I can sleep in, in the am. Put sonny’s lunch money out on the counter, just in case.
Having some licorice tea now, hoping it makes me drowsy. Switched over to a Bruce Springsteen concert too. Better for my subconscious dreaminess.
ok eCAHN I will do this now — will I have to login again?
HeyLow I know it’s late for me. Do you remember years ago, we all stayed up late every night?
Second that.
yes, my house is classic midcentury modern, but the previous owner considered himself a handyman, he ripped out the doors and put in some doors he probably got on clearance somewhere. they were non-standard size, smaller. So he had to build some sort of shim around the frames, and he did a wretched job. Makes a huge difference with properly installed frame and good doors.
I find that mostly when I shut down my computer without logging out, I don’t have to log into FDL again. Logins on FDL pop up at random times the way I use it.
What’s on my mind tonight is the same thing that has been for the last several weeks: The growing call to primary Barack Obama from the Left in 2012.
CT, if memory serves, you’ve commented on at least one of the diaries over at MyFDL, as we’ve chosen a list of ten possible challengers. This diary, now up until Tuesday at 6 p.m. (Pacific), is for voting on platform points and a name for the effort. All voting is preferential, utilizing IRV.
On the heels of Blue Texan’s dairy from Sunday afternoon, I hope late-nighters will stop by and make their voices heard!
Thanks, all!
Hey, Girlio!!!
How’s recovery city?
*heh* We’re getting old, eh…? ;-)
Without reply, eCAHN, I will try this.
Oh yes.
Mine is an historic house that had ‘modern’ necessities added in the 1940s when the owners were not prosperous. So it was all the kind of mess you describe. The blessing was that they never ripped out anything historic, and their work was easily upgraded as time passed & resources became available. Like the driveway project, each upgrade improved both the appearance & functionality of the house & resulted in a snoopy dance, as the frustration of time & cost overruns dissipated.
Nuh uh. Just getting better. Okay, I lied. I am getting older. :( And, not doing it as gracefully as I’d like.
I think the chances of primarying O are slim to none.
Ah, but you miss that snow the first year or so you’re in SoCal.
And, Slim just left town.
That’s really strange. All my friends seem to be getting older. I just don’t understand it. *g*
Yep.
Shoot, with no “Relpy” eCHAN, I have to say I agree. No chances.
Hiya! I’m hiking around the ranch on my own with the dawgs…doing great…just get sore and stiff when I stop..almost back to normal.
Alright, mc…! I shall have make my selections noted… Tomorrow evening at the latest…! ;-)
My girlfriend Rhonda and I were just the other day commiserating that when we look in the mirror, we’re so surprised to see our mothers’ faces.
(And, btw, click on my name.)
oh, that is wonderful! It’s so good when it’s a relatively easy mess to fix. The driveway fix sounds especially wonderful, bet you were ecstatic when that was accomplished.
It’s also the situation with my house … no major structural butchering. Except for the gawd-awful vinyl siding that was applied at some time, but we loved the interior so we bought it.
Cornel West disagrees. Rabbi Michael Lerner, too. And the calls are growing.
Plus, there’s a broader goal: Getting real representation for the Left in Washington again, by creating an umbrella org of disaffected Dems, Lefty Independents, Greens, Socialists, Working Families party members, etc.
Just keep saying you agree with me. (“What eCAHN said…”) You don’t need a reply button to do that. *g*
I meant to tell you what a nice pic!
eCAHN, are you still up? Long time, miss you and demi.
Thanks CT!
What are your thoughts on the chances of a primary challenge, and of pulling together a long-term coalition of Lefty groups?
I saw your photo of you & your mom.
Me too. It’s creepy. Well not yours, but mine was as I didn’t look particularly like her until the last couple of years.
That was taken on Thanksgiving. I had remarked that mom and I were wearing smililar lipstick colors and we smooched. Then my sis grabbed the camera and said do that again, for the camera. That’s why my “smile” looks kind of weird.
What is on my mind is simple pleasure of watching singing and dancing.
Last night I stated up late and watched old episodes of Glee. The final of Sectionals was Valerie sung by Santana. I was wonderful. So I know they do covers of the originals so I went to find that. I found a version by Amy Winehouse who made it famous. Here is a version that I really like
Also on Glee was a song “Marry you” by Bruno Mars at the parents of Kurt and Finn. Really fun songs. I’ve watched the video of Valerie from Gleen, and from Amy Winehouse about 20 times.
I wish that I had a compilation of just the musical numbers from Glee that I could watch. The stuff around the singing is often painfully bad. Which is sad since the first half of the first season it was awesome too. Now it’s very hit or miss.
lol
Hey there, Loo Hoo. Miss you too. You got rain tonight?
I’m aware of Cornel West’s disillusionment.
But the PTB will keep him in place, and his general approval ratings are still respectable.
If the economy double dips that could change, so I reserve the right to change my mind.
You guys all know that Isis is our very own LS!!!
Ha. I really can’t complain, since I got my skin and hair from her. She’s 83 and I don’t think she looks her age.
See my comment @3.
How’re you doing, Loo Hoo?
If you want to see Marry You here is the link go to 24:40 on the clip.
It’s kinda funny… The better half was asking if there was any chance I could coax my sister over here for our 25th anniversary, when we’re supposed to renew our vows…! Hello…? Anyways, I said how about we journey there, Las Vegas, to do it…! Ooh, the look I got…! “I don’t want to renew our vows in an ‘Elvis drive-by Chapel’” I told her at least it is a chapel and not your parent’s lanai…! *gah*
Our very own Miss Spring Flowers, herself.
That’s hilarious!
We’re having light rain. Weird rain, though. Huge drops, but few of them.
Alright you’re both under arrest! Hahahaha
We’ve had more days with rain than we usually do. But, again, no complaints. I don’t have to water my gardens.
OK, eCAHN. Thanks for the feedback, and in case you haven’t followed the movement’s growth over at MyFDL, here’s a set of links. An estimated 150 unique commenters have participated so far.
No she doesn’t.
The skin thing. My mom remarked late in life how much her friends admired her skin which had been oily & yucky in her youth. Ditto me. The oily thing comes in handy as the years advance.
OTOH, the Cahn women, stemming from my MIL, whose maiden name doesn’t come to right now, had soft beautiful skin in their youths which continued their entire lives.
If you’re referring to our Issa story, you have a mind like a steel trap, lady.
‘evenin’, all-
I don’t think The Machine will allow a primary challenge from the left, as seen in the boycott of John Edwards in 2008. Rather, the important thing now is too smear Obama as every kind of the worst leftist, in order to push the agenda further right.
It is the agenda, not he/she who serves it.
I sure do remember that. Gawd.
The only good thing about the drying out as I age is that I don’t have to wash my hair daily anymore. :) I probably don’t spend as much time on my looks in a whole week of what I did as a teenager.
I’m gonna trundle off to bed.
Be well & dream well everyone.
I resemble the washing hair thing!
‘night, eCAHN.
Well, I’ve been stressed, quite honestly, eCAHN. Life is good, though, and it seems like you’re plowing ahead in full retirement mode. I have total admiration for you and your SPUNK!
Miracl* Wh*p makes an incredible mask….your old face literally rolls off…crazy.
Can ya tell that to my better half…! Although, I must admit she has tapered off in her efforts, of late…! ;-)
Pleasant fruitcaky dreams.
‘Course, if the missus ever read my threads… Suz’s lQQK would pale in comparison…! *whew*
We’re all different, aren’t we? I’m sure you remember to tell her how pretty she is a lot, right?
Oy :)
Flash back! I remember putting mayonaisse in my hair.
Does ‘I love ya Honey’ count…? ;-)
Me too..then one time I decided to leave it in a really long time, and my hair broke off a bunch!
You need to do both, I think. ;)
Only if you don’t say it.
evening, CE – how’s OH tonight?
Its worked for 20 yrs so far…! ;-)
What ever happened to Looseheadrop? (sp)
Valerie, the Glee version starts at 32:27. It’s a really fun version.
evening, eCAHN — sounds like you’re ready for the solstice.
Congrats. Didn’t mean to preach.
Thanks.
Tastes pretty good on a spam or bacon sandwich, too!
Congrats, Spocko on the century mark…! ;-)
Heh. I always wonder what it does to your insides considering what it does to your face. ;)
Aloha, TG…! Loved that Stooges clip…! ;-)
CT: I reckoned y’all would like that.
Isis: What does it do to your face?
He didn’t know, Newt, *I* did. :-D
Snow is morally wrong. It is reprehensible and is a Repuke plot. Honest.
It makes your face roll off if you leave it on for about 12 minutes…it takes years off. Of course, in about a week your face grows back… ;)
Nuh uh. No way.
Stooges: one of my guilty pleasures.
I remain to this day, when it comes to my sense of humor, a 12 year old.
I’ve never cared for them. But, then I’ve never been a 12 year old boy. I always wondered if they appealed more to the male gender.
Tea’s caught up with me, so I’m going to go get some shut eye. Take care.
Aloha, demi…! Great to see on LLN…! ;-)
Congrats, Spocko!!
Nite all.
great stooges tut
Aloha, LS…!
Aloha, Suz…! How’s your little inlet doing tonite…?
tis 48 but feels like 36 outside — brrr. rain in the forecast for most of the coming week — i’m hoping for a warm rain…
Anyone else remember those wonderful streched (wax paper-wrapped) taffy candies that cost one nickle? I loved the grape. They seemed like such a large stash of candy for the weekly nickle.
Nighters, Isis. So good to see you!
*heh* I’m grumbling about upper 60′s Rain clouds for the next week or so… Silly me…! ;-)
Oh yes, you mean the wide, flat stretches that you could peel the wax paper down from one end?
These?
http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/yhst-39536451252835_2133_5631228
I remember eating gobs of freshly pulled, salt water taffy, but, I’m of a later generation where a nickel was only considered change in one’s pocket…! ;-)
Totally!!! The grape flavor was my fav. I remember getting them only when we visited Grandpa Olson in Minot
Well, you gentle folk, the missus is asking me to unplug the Xmas tree and call it a nite…!
I shall heed her beck n’call and bid ya’ll a fond adieu…! *g*
Aloha Oe…!
It’s been so long that the flavors don’t jump out at me.
But I do recall one time carrying them in bunches down my sock in about 4th grade, and discovering that they had fused themselves together and to my leg.
Keri Lotion. The only thing I would put on my face, and I’ve tried them all. ALL.
nite tuttle
i’m out too
nite loo hoo, pups
Nighhters, CTuttle, thanks again!
Ha! You were a little taffy dealer..!
nite, Newt.
