Portrait of HAMP Failure: These Aren’t Deadbeats

By: David Dayen Monday November 22, 2010 7:15 pm

Banks are justifying their fraudulent foreclosure operations by saying that most borrowers would default anyway. But borrowers who have sought help through HAMP are proving that wrong. They’re either getting a HAMP modification, get pushed into a private modification, or somehow move heaven and earth to pay off the loan. White House: Only 170,000 People Have Had Genitalia Groped by Complete Stranger in Last Week

By: emptywheel Monday November 22, 2010 6:30 pm

The White House has started a pushback campaign on gate rape that is reminiscent of “Recovery Summer” or “Mission Accomplished” for its credibility.

FDL Movie Night: JFK and Zapruder–The Day that Changed America

By: Lisa Derrick Monday November 22, 2010 5:00 pm

Questioning authority, distrust of government, conspiracy theories, the war in Viet Nam, civil rights, hippies, Nixon (and all he did both good–like EPA and OSHA–and bad). How would thing be different if Kennedy had not been shot? Hard to say.

TSA Porno Screeners: Giant Boondoggle

By: Jane Hamsher Monday November 22, 2010 2:45 pm

In short, TSA rushed these things into operation without any evidence that they actually work, or what the impact would be of their new heightened “security” measures. Now, according to the 2011 Homeland Security appropriations request, TSA Chief John Pistole wants money for 500 more porno scanners.
