Angelique Kidjo – Gimme Shelter
Decemberists – Here I Dreamt I Was An Architect
What is on your mind tonite…?
RIP to fellow snowback Leslie Nielsen…!
Angelique is awesome! Don’t know the Decemberist although I saw they are on tour. Nice introduction with that video. Mahalo!
Congrats, mz…! ;-)
wow, tut, wow.
My turkey soup is done, good batch if i do say so myself!
Aloha, Suz and all…! Glad ya liked it…! ;-)
i’ve got the carcass stewing away — didn’t start it until tonight
Hey Sweetie…! I made Turkey ala king tonite myself…! ;-)
Tuttle, Suz, NewDeal-
My soup was done yesterday. I will be living off of it for a week.
The Shenadoah/Blue Ridges are beautiful. Cherry blossoms in Spring time, 3-colored leaves in the Fall then snow in the Winter when there’s not the ice storm.
Hello you all. Your cooking sounds magnificent.
It is gorgeous country…! ;-)
yep, mine is at least a couple weeks meals for me … my daughter is vegetarian so it’s all mine mine MINE. (i’ll be freezing a lot in lunch-for-work size portions)
Well, I think *I’m* going to make soup now.
A peaceful evening to you all. :)
Hey there, CT~!
Imagine when my lovely businessman son came home for Thanksgiving and said that perhaps he wants to be a chef, or, maybe and architect. This kid makes killer money.
Nice work, CTuttle
Pleasant dreams, mz…!
Mine will not last long enough to freeze.
Aloha, Teddy…! You’ve been most prolific this past weekend…! ;-)
I’ve never made it, it sounds so good.
CT, great videos!
Aloha, CE…! All ya can do is wish them the best of luck…! Exasperating as it may be…! ;-)
Indeed! Love them to bits. MsCE now transferred to Cleveland is looking for one bedroom and lots of high ceilings.
Aloha, Margot…! Mahalo…!
i’m trying to be efficient and save some for lunches at work … i’d druther eat it all up this week. I could happily eat it breakfast, lunch and dinner.
I could happily eat it breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Made choucroute garnie this weekend — pounds of sauerkraut and sausages!
*heh* By the time Xmas rolls around I’m good and ready for the ham…! ;-)
A few months ago various recipes for sauerkraut was widely discussed here.
I was fascinated, plus, I’m a fan. Amazing that NO VINEGAR is used.
Hi mzchief. That reminds me that we used to have a commenter here named Angelique. Anyone else remember her?
Tomorrow Nat Geo will be airing Restrepo…! Looking forward to it…! ;-)
i’m not recalling the name — was she around at nite or during the day?
Must be good!
Aloha, Loo Hoo…! You still in Panama…?
Good for your son. (And you!) Do you guys have more children than MsCE and Son? You have obviously been wonderful parents. Congratulations!
That’s a great clip…! Keith Richards isn’t staggering around the stage…! How’s your little inlet tonite…? ;-)
Late afternoon/early evening as I recall…
We just finished eating my turkey soup, made this afternoon. Along with the caramelized onions, carrots and celery, I sliced up some chioggia beets really thin. They added a lot of sweetness.
Nope, home now and totally unpacked, laundry done, and semi-mentally here.
Aloha, ET…! You been reading any of the I/P related wikileaks cables…?
Keith Richards isn’t staggering around the stage…!
My favorite Keith Richards staggering around the stage video – at Chuck Berry’s 60th B-Day concert.
mmm, sounds good! I had a lot of turnips and carrots in mine, and a little nutmeg with the other herbs/spices. You can’t hardly go wrong with turkey soup.
It’s nighty, night for me.
Coming up on the last week of classes before finals week, with a lot of term papers to read, comment upon and grade. Mondoweiss and others are reading ‘em so I don’t have to.
That’s exactly what Ms. ET said. I put a whole bottle of sauvignon blanc into the broth.
I’ve known a number of people who gave up successful business or sales careers to pursue becoming a chef. The results have varied.
*heh* If you noticed the third comment on that thread was mine and on Rep. Ackerman, besides Wexler…! ;-)
Good for you. I’ll be able to try to catch up sometime tomorrow afternoon, I hope.
34 but cozy inside. have the fire going and the soup is bubbling… wind storm due in tomorrow nite
i’ve finished puttering around, gonna go to bed early … i have an exciting morning planned of painting a wall before heading in to work.
This is my favorite one–he ends the song before the last verse, I think.
Sweet dreams, Ma cherie…!
All the hatches battened down…?
Thanks for sharing THAT one!
Dang, you’re ambitious! Sleep well.
oh yeah… battened em last time we had a high wind warning
only thing i have to take down tomorrow is the finch feeder
*waving g’nite to the leaving sleepypups who i missed leaving*
night, Suzzz …. evening, CT
hey ppd — i wasn’t leaving — i was saying g’nite to those who were. i’m back and forth between the computer and the bubbling pot on the stove.
Aloha, PPD…! How’s your neck of the woods…?
Howdy ho! Lurking as am working…
Tomorrow is Cyber Monday…! Anybody planning on buying anything…?
I’m too broke myself…! ;-)
I thought that was against the law.
Good night and good morning CT, Suz and pups.
Had the chainsaw out today to begin reducing a large maple that blew over and took out my electric power lines a few weeks ago. Good physical workout. Probably a full cord of hardwood here. Salvaged a crotch that might make some a nice table-top and two shorter sections that I think are flamed pattern or fiddle-backed wood grain.
After making (for the second time) a batch of MS’s Butternut Squash and Sage Lasagna for supper tonight, (my daughter actually requested it) cleaned up the kitchen, threw in a load of laundry, sipped a glass of wine and fell asleep in the chair. The 13 lb (winter weight) kitteh hopped into my lap and woke me, thought I would say hello.
As I was not hosting TG dinner, no turkey here for soup.
I’m celebrating in reverse.
I have a load of old dead fax machines and cpus and displays and printers and ipods to take to the recycler.
Ooh, that sounds sooo delish…! ;-)
*heh* That’s cool, newt…!
Heh – I have a contemplative thing going on right now. That’s what I mean by working.
Here’s the music I’m working by….
It is outstanding. Picked the last of the freshest sage tips before they finally froze last week. The dish was referenced back in September by someone visiting PUAC, many thanks for that tip.
what’s in the bubbling pot, Suzzz?
turkey carcass soup….
Well, the better half wants me to join her in bed…! Mahalo for ya’lls company tonite…! I bid ya’ll a fond adieu…! Aloha Oe…! *g*
Our county sponsored a weekend recycle program for electronincs two years ago. Five large snowplow truck sized, garage stalls were filled eight feet high in less than five hours.
There are certified recyclers that you might want to check into. Otherwise a lot of that stuff just gets shipped to China and Africa and families sit around open fires burning toxic PVC insulation off of tiny bits of wire to get the copper and tons of plastic are simply dumped in heaps.
More info at: The Story of Stuff.
Cyber Monday. Bah humbug. A phrase coined by some internet retailer PR firm. I don’t know if it annoys me more that the media fell for it (the claim that Monday is the biggest online shopping day is not true) or am I jealous that I didn’t think it up. Coining a phrase is huge in the business. In the PR biz it’s like getting an Emmy.
Jeez, I saw that story, a Frontline piece perhaps, a year ago.
Talk about generations lost to the nastiest of toxins!
I use a place in Mountain View county and state certified. All of the pieces and parts stay right here, and are disassembled under supervision. Who knows how authentic they are, but they have all the right stamps and placards.
That’s great. Our local refuse services charge $30 to drop off an old monitor or computer and they are then shipped to a certified processor.
Me to. If really sickened me. One of the things that always pissed me off about the way that money chases cheap labor around the globe is the way that the model also encourages lax or nonexistent environmental regulation.
Mrs S is very good about recycling things correctly. I even found a program that correctly destroyed my old perscription drugs. Now I know my meds won’t go into the ground water.
My thoughts exactly, though I am looking for a PC with a killer graphics card for residential CAD modeling and photo-shop work. I do some drafting for small building contractors in the area and have a technique for accurately showing a rendered home model, situated as it will appear on a building site by combining the computer model and a digital photo of the site. Pretty pictures for people who have trouble visualizing a finished project when looking at a page of home plans.
My sleepy-time tea is ready and I’m off to bed in a minute or so. I’m glad I stopped by. Thanks
The scary thing about the FL piece (or it may have been 60 Minutes) was that from the very start, the consumer was lied to about the destination of their hardware, and every single link in the chain of custody of the material was part of the criminal enterprise.
How does anyone really know? Phony certificates, phony paperwork, phony cargo inspections. And a lot of seriously poisoned and desperately poor people.
i’m bailing out too
