Zogby Interactive: Obama Falls to 39%, As Support from Democrats Continues to Slide; He Trails Romney, J. Bush & Gingrich in ’12

Those Saying U.S. on Wrong Track Hits High Under Obama of 69%

I never expected much from Obama but he’s delivered less than I expected. What a disappointment.

About the Taliban impostor.

“It’s not him,” said a Western diplomat in Kabul intimately involved in the discussions. “And we gave him a lot of money.”

Goldman Sachs is looking for the guy. They have an executive position to offer him.

Mornin’, BT, pups

Mullah Omar denied that there were any talks unfolding at any level.

Emphasis mine.

And how long have we been lookin’ for this guy?

We’ve killed a couple hundred #2 and #3 guys and an impostor manages to pull the wool over the Afghan and NATO leaders. I’ll bet Mansour enjoyed the NATO aircraft ride, though. Wonder what he spent the dough we gave him on. Morons.

I still haven’t figured out when our targeted enemy became the taliban, and not al Qaeda. I guess that our mission in life now is to go all around the world attacking ‘terrorists.’ We are so militaristic that we can’t seem to approach any international problem outside of some military threat or action.

OT: I saw that there is now an international warrant by Sweden for Julian Assange for rape and molestation. The cia is in full swing. Assange hasn’t been mentioned much on FDL lately.

Another OT: last night I was unable to connect to FDL for quite a while. The connection finally came back. Interestingly, the record of Jane on Washington Journal is unavailable and is still not available.

Despite tough talk on the Internet, there was little if any indication of a passenger revolt Monday at many major U.S. airports, with very few people declining the X-ray scan that can peer through their clothes.

It’s becoming more and more apparent that The TSA is punishing people who refuse to go through the rapescan machines with invasive groping. It’s designed not for security but to humiliate and bully for their temerity for not complying like a good little sheep. I wonder how much Pistole has personally invested in these machines? That would be a worthy investigation.

In all honesty, I am glad that the TSA has overstepped its bounds. As a people we’ve been protected from the pain of the war on terrorism, removed from feeling any sort of empathy for those that we brand terrorists and torture. This hopefully will act as a wake up call and just maybe, we may draw the conclusion that we’re all humans and we all respond the same to torture and abuse of civil rights.

It is just like the Afghans working on bases being spies. Ya think? If I went around killing your family for a decade and you took a job working for me, don’t you think you may do anything in your power to get back at me?

It is the same with the economic collapse. While 20% of our people are unemployed, mainstreet didn’t feel the pain enough. So, we let half measures rule the day and we end up with ineffective reform.

We’ve been sheltered as a people. I’m glad we are finally having to a hint of a taste of what we’ve been doing to the rest of the world.

Hopefully we can finally answer that question, “Why do they hate us so much?” And it isn’t because of our “freedom”.

And with all due respect to themalcontent, there’s no way some of the people on his list are qualified or interested in the presidency. It’s like putting Santa or Gandhi on the list just because we admire them. We need to get real about our alternatives to Obama, and much as we love and admire them, Jane and Elizabeth Warren and Paul Krugman aren’t going to be “real” candidates. As a feel-good exercise this probably met its goals. As a realistic list of potential Obama opponents, not so much.

The problem is that if Obama decides to run, the party apparatus will fall in behind him, even if his approvals are in the teens at the time. I’d say the Democrats are known for Quixotic quests but that’s too respectful. Rather they are known for stubbornly clinging to discredited notions of party loyalty and seniority.

An impostor in secret talks between the US, Karzai government, and the Taliban. Very interesting. Just one more example of the failure of US intelligence in support of anything.

If you don’t know who to negotiate a political end to a war with, you have two choices: destroy everything in sight hoping that includes the enemy (the World War II and Vietnam scenarios) or leave hoping to deal with the security issues in another way. Given the fact that there are other ways than all out war or multi-trillion-dollar “homeland security” programs to deal with the threat, leaving makes the most sense militarily even if that does not occur to general officers who want “successful” combat experience to ensure promotion to higher rank.

It’s time for Dunkirk. Consolidate forces quietly at Bagram and then quietly leave. Talk about the success of the surge and that as a result NATO and the US can draw down troops.

And abandon the idea that a country can ever do counter-insurgency on another country’s turf.

And hand off the political settlement issue to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which already has all of the relevant regional parties as members or observers. Including India, Pakistan and Iran.

This recognizes that Bush’s idiocy has put China in a stronger position diplomatically, and that will drive the neo-conservative “American Alone” folks nuts. But it also provides another way to accomplish the original objective of removing Afghanistan as a terrorist haven. And allows China its own chance to make its own missteps in Afghanistan.

It’s my understanding that FDL does not control the ads under the theory that if they blocked an ad, it would imply an endorsement of the ads that do appear.

So I wind up clicking on the ads from places like BP and some of the other advertisers using the theory that they should help to pay FDL’s bills.

I’ve argued that leaving is logistically difficult for some time, even before the introduction of Abrams tanks. As I understand it, there are two ways out–an air base at Kandahar and the one at Bagram. Remove the tank units first with the argument that they get in the way of counterinsurgency operations. Remove all NATO troops. Remove a number of US troops equivalent to a drawdown of the surge through Kandahar. Move troops to be more concentrated, as Petraeus claimed to be doing earlier. Then more concentrated until almost everyone is in Bagram. Turn over more an more responsibility to Afghan security forces; yes, it’s a sham but this will allow local areas to sort out the security situation without interference from NATO or US troops. Put the local leaders in charge of calling in US troops for backup; likely the local leaders never will. Which is to the good.

The heavy lifting is diplomatic, not logistical, as difficult as the logistical problem and security during troop movements is. Getting responsibility for guaranteeing non-interference and security picked up by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Prevailing (right, eh?) on the Chinese to ensure the security of a nation that actually borders them. Setting the accomplishment of this for June 2011. That provides the security framework that avoids the Soviet experience.

Do not begin major movements out of Bagram until the SCO process is in place.

The Soviets did not quietly leave; they left in a rout. I doubt if the SCO countries want to see that experience repeated. The SCO is essentially a Central Asia security and development agreement with Russia, China, Pakistan, India, and Iran as guarantors.

My guess is that the introduction of the M1A1 Abrams tanks were somebody’s idea of how to entrap the US into staying in Afghanistan forever. It is amazing how little the US military remembers about Vietnam. Going into conventional warfare immediately ups the intensity of the conflict. This is mission creep at its worst.

Lol, so no to Kucinich and no to Paul. Well, who do you want?

Hillary? Lol, I guess having GW Bush 2 via Obama wasn’t enough, you want to go for a third go at their idiotic policies.

Oh no, you must want Grayson. Yeah his ass kissing of the Israelis will make him a very fair and impartial broker of peace in the region.

The only alternative I see is possibly Feingold. You may not like Kucinich or Paul, but they are the only ones I know that would get us out of our wars and return our civil liberties to us. Everyone else is a liar or a disappointment. (Kucinich is an idiot for HCR, but I see few alternatives)
