HAHAHAHA, glad you used it!
hey that guy — my pleasure. how ya doing tonight?
not bad, and you? great video, by the way
I’m OK. Got my UI extension going so the dinero is still rolling in.
doing ok… counting down the hours until jen calls me tomorrow after her doc apt — she finds out if baby girl or baby boy… i figure my phone will ring about 430 or so…
Hi Everyone.
even though jimmy wants today to be a national unfriend day… i’m not participating. you can friend me two ways:
(1) facebook and (2) clicking on any name on a comment will take you to that person’s fdl page. you can fdl friend people that way too
exciting! any names picked out?
hey wigwam — how was your day?
evening, Suzzz … firegourds
yay!
hey ppd — how was your day?
Hiya, pups!
she has two so far.. nathan and julianna but has been wavering back and forth about maybe looking at other names — i think its just jitters and she will stick with those name
hey et — how was your day today?
good thanks — you doing well, Suzzz?
It was pro forma but you know, you sweat it until it happens.
as well as can be considering i’m on pins and needles until she calls tomorrow afternoon :)
those are nice names. before my nephew was born, his mother dreamed the name ‘sheldon’, so that’s what he became. strange dream
i always hope for the best but plan for the worst… just in case
until who calls?
i’ve not gotten middle names yet… after tomorrow naming gets serious
jen’s call about whether baby bell pepper has a stem or not — she finds out tomorrow afternoon
more grandkids — woot!
baby love
twill be my first :) i never thought i would be one of those grandmas who is always talking about the baby (sheesh, not even born yet) but… there sure is a lotta joy
Hi Suzanne. A very mellow day, today.
friends
welcome to the bonus round, Suz
Hey Suz, excited for your news!
FDL is the only place I’ve participated with a list of friends. Wish there was a comment space to tell a person why I would like to friend them. Can do it in the comments, but during the friend request would be more personally meaningful.
Hi everyone.
No news.
This was shared with me today, could have used it last LLN.
thanks ppd
mellow
hey nonq — how was your day today?
hey wmd — how ya doing tonight?
Hey ET, had dessert on Sunday with a political adviser who said he had been working/running Lisa’s write-in campaign. Republican turned Democratic recently but was definitely anti-AKteaparty.
A very fine day thank you, and I hope the same for you. Bit of house cleaning, some cooking and got the very last of the necessary outdoor chores put to rest.
wmd — lardy that video is a hoot dood
Hi Suz, everyone!
great video
It fit last nights TSA fest, if I’d seen it before then I’d have posted it.
woke up to heavy rain and strong winds so i stayed inside and was a slug today : we got about 2″ of rain so far (it is still raining) and the strongest gust in the area was a 47 in oceanside — wind was blowing the rain sideways until around 4 today
crawling off to bed. nite, all
hey margot — how ya doing tonight? that guy sent it to me and i hoped ya’ll would get a kick outta it
g’nite spur
i fear it will be topical for some time — pistole doesn’t appear to be backing down at all with his hobson’s choice
I had lots of driving around to do and took my dog with me. She loves to go for rides…this summer was way too hot for even a brief ride and the winter is too cold. So she’s getting a lot of car rides while we still can.
Maybe. I have some hope that we won’t be made to pee ourselves whenever someone says terrorist. This is one that main stream media might push back against because it hits them too.
token’s getting better about car rides. he now willingly gets in the car — but only wants to be sitting on the floorboard behind my driver’s seat. he didn’t handle those curvy roads in the santa cruz mts very well at all
Or for Obama to cluck like a chicken whenever anyone says “liberal”. The whole country went to the same crazy vaudeville act.
this fear fear fear crap all the time has got to stop.
hey duncan — how ya doing tonight?
I’ll be jumpin’ on 100 like it’s a live hand grenade…
You still having a cold snap in Oregon?
A local.
*laughing* what with the slow and mellow pace tonight — we may not get to that lucky 100 dood
Damn Suz .. Etta James AND The Stand is yer favorite book too? .. exquisite taste, indeedy do .. *grin*
local
hey tearloch — how ya doing tonight? the unabridged edition even :)
“Look, I don’t have all day,” Benny said. “Are you going to sing or not?”
Jessica cleared her throat. “Well, I did write a short song. I call it ‘Tennessee Slick’.”
“Okay. Okay. Go. Go,” Benny urged.
Jessica sang, “My man went and left me for some barroom tramp. And now my poor heart feels so soggy and damp. The people ‘round here call him Tennessee Slick. My momma, she calls him Tennessee Dick.”
“You see, Tennessee Slick’s real first name is Richard,” Jessica explained. “I mention that in the chorus.” She saw Benny liked the song and her singing. Why else would he close his eyes so tight to let his ears do all the listening?
“Tennessee Slick, why’d you go break my heart? Guess you was cheatin’ right from the start. I’m birthing your baby, guess that don’t mean much to you. Richard, our baby’s all I got left of you!”
“Stop! Stop! No more,“ Benny said. “Sign this contract and I’ll make you a star.”
At last, Amazon has my book at: http://www.amazon.com/Consequences-Crime-Punishment-Angel-Sharum/dp/1456309323/ref=ntt_at_ep_dpt_4
weather dood just said it is snowing in sandy… still 46 here but he is teasing that there is a change to the 7day forecast in the next segment…
I’ve got a question.
I seem to recall that back in the 80s or so, some conservative jerk suggested that the the best way to get rid of social support programs like welfare, social Security, Medicare, etc., would be to run the country so far into debt that they would be unaffordable. Subsequently, that’s exactly how every Republican administration has behaved, forging the anvil on which to smash the support structures of the middle and lower classes.
What I’m try to remember is who that jerk was and to find a link to documentation of him saying it.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.
hey robert — is that from that book? and YAY *snoopy happy dance*
I read that book every other year, unabridged indeed .. in the even year I read “Swan Song” by Robert McCammon .. they replenish pieces of my soul that I seem to lose by caring too much .. I am finding I am losing less by hanging with you folks as you add perspective ..
Very funny and congratz!!!!!!
that’s ringing a bell…. could it have been during the carter admin? or do ya think it was during clinton’s presidency?
I think that was Grover Norquist.
Yep, from my second short story “The Scam”.
Quiet news day in the midwaste, except for this guy making a statement.
JFC, I’m a carpenter and participate in town government, too. Don’t have any shotgun shells though and don’t get that dancing channel on the teevee.
woohooo! snarky dood :)
You are absolutely right, Duncan.
dood bagged himself a dead tv… i keep a basket of rolled up socks to toss at it so i don’t kill mine
I think we need Right Wing Douchebag trading cards, just to keep the players straight pun intended. There have been so many memorable rogues.
‘Bonus Round’…? Is that what they’re calling it these days…? ;-)
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight?
This is the link to my author page on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Robert-L.-Arend/e/B003TTP7KW
Fer instance, who was the one who called out for rough trade in a bathroom stall by tapping his foot in a Mr. Ed stylee? Can’t remember that one’s name.
hiya margot
sweet.. thanks robert
Hope and Change seemed like it could work.
Just didn’t last. Fear works.
larry craig
choochie, choochie, cooooo — here, you change ‘em.
That’s the bonus round, CT.
He was such a “nasty boy”…
So tomorrow this time we’ll know if there’s a stem or not, eh…? ;-)

That’s right, surreal.
When’s the bundle o’ joy due, Suzzz?
FUCK — wish edit was back.. not YET not ‘not year’
middle of april
*heh* handing them back is definitely a plus…! The Missus was just bemoaning the fact she’s still not a Grandma, and, in the next breath ‘Look, I found another gray hair’…! What’s a poor fellah to do…? ;-)
An Aries child
Will make Grandma proud…
happy lucky 100 robert!!!
I guess that means everybody’s got to buy my book….
Don’t get that channel, but thanks. With WI going all republican last week there are prolly gonna be a lot of folks exhibiting various levels of responses to their frustration with the upcoming political march to the 1950′s. Forget creating jobs, they’re going for real ID and a tougher immigration stance, first off.
See, you always make it this far.
Sleep tight all ..
ya never know… some nights i haven’t
finger’s and toes crossed it ends up in a lotta stockings this year
g’nite tearloch
mellow down easy
I think I may have read it here on FDL that them congress critters did very well, that their incomes went up an average of 10 per cent thanks to their own investments with the folks their supposed to regulate…
Cool page. Do they track your hits for you?
*heh* Wisconsin is mighty worried about all those Canucks taking their jobs, eh…?
nite tearloch
night all – be well
g’nite ppd
And be free…

going down slow
Ya, they are swimming across Lake Superior and hiking down through the upper peninsula to get here and milk the cows.
I have no idea if they track my pages. I’m new on Amazon, so guess I’ll learn as things go along.
That other book “Elements of Dimension” is put out by Twin Trinity Media, but is not yet available because the publisher has one excuse after another about the delays. Should have been out last June….
*total novice* is tracking pages good?
Of course Amazon will keep track of sales. They take a big chunk out of the book price, though…
Bummer about the delays, but congrats anyway.
Thanks. Already got another going to be published and out by the end of this month titled “Dark Christmas. The cover’s already been approved. Wish I could somehow post the pic of the cover here…
I would think it would help, especially when linking to sites like this one. It would be interesting to know how that works to drive traffic, then possibly increase search engine hits, etc. Most authors have to do their own marketing these days.
if it is online anywhere, you can post a link to that photo. ya can’t embed photo’s in the comments
I don’t expect a lot of sales, afterall I’m not Stephen King, but I have a methodical 2-year plan that starts with building my rep as a solidly reliable producer of damn good stories….
The cover isn’t online because it hasn’t been published yet. All I have is a pic of it on my desktop.
It’s agorgeous cover, though.
:( well, when it is online, i’m looking forward to seeing it
I have your email address. I could email it to you.
Looks like you’re succeeding. I have a friend who is attempting that same path, but he’s spending a lot of time in Fancy Literary Journal Land.
oooooo thanks dood
Norquist sounds correct, but I’ve not found a link to him.
I find this quote in a Counterpunch article by economist Bob Pollin:
But I don’t think this was the first time that strategy was suggested. In fact, I found a link indicating that he accused Reagan of using it.
The truth is going the literary “To Kill A Monkingbird” route should start will mastering the craft of the short story. The literary novelist can then more easily launch from there….
I agree, but then I love short stories. A lot of aspiring authors scream, “but there’s no market!” for short stories.
Did you see his wiki page?
“He has been noted for his widely quoted quip: “I don’t want to abolish government. I simply want to reduce it to the size where I can drag it into the bathroom and drown it in the bathtub.”[30]

Good night Suzanne, thursday is well underway and I am off to dreamland. No nightmares recently but January swearing in ceremonies could trigger some.
Here’s a link to the image on the Wisconsin Dems billboard on I-94 Milwaukee, thanking our repug gov-elect for rejecting our segment of the improved midwest rail transport linkage along with the jobs and money. This is the person we have to deal with for at least four years running our state (into the ground).
Send a donation to WisDems.org if any of you peeps want to support the effort.
I just sent the cover pic to your email…
thanks dood
g’nite nonq
’bout time for me to turn back into a pumpkin folks. thank you for letting me hang out with ya tonight and i hope to see ya tomorrow night.
g’nite all
Actually, there is not market like there used to be, when Redbook, McCalls, and many other magazines used to have fiction sections. But there is a market for short story collections published as anthologies, but the market is underserved…
Goodnight, Suzanne.
Goodnight all you late night lurkers, too.
Goodnight Suze, Robert. Ah, you never lurk alone…
