Gov’t Mule covering Ray Charles – I Believe To My Soul, at Rockpalast, 2007.
What’s on your mind?
Suz!
Very nice!
hey newton — how’s the west bay tonight? glad ya like it
Cooled off, but just the right amount.
You must be close to freezing about now.
I’m kind of sleepy tonight. Just dropping in to say goodnight.
was drippy all day but the weather dood says its clearing and fri will be nice. of course, there is more rain coming in fri nite/sat morning :) tis a wee bit warmer tonight than it was last night… 46 vs 43 this time yesterday
hey wmd — always a pleasure to see your fonts — even in a driveby :) g’nite
Hey folks, I’m going to go crawl between the sheets.
Good night.
Aloha, Suz…! I salute ya on this fine 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th year of…! ;-)
hey bct — sleep well and g’nite
aloha tut — i thought the 11th hour was at 1100am…. how’s paradise tonight?
Hey Suzanne!
MrCE and I are off to St.Johns, Newfoundland weekend of the 19-20. Can’t wait!! The music and landscape are super! Shipping News anyone?
Month, not year… Of course…! I do miss edit…! ;-)
hey ce — how’s ohio tonight? sounds like a fun getaway!!!
me, too.
Thank Dog Jane Hamsher Finally said Axelrod needs to be fired on the Larry O’Donnell show. What an incompetent.
We are so pumped to be there1
me three
See…! I’m all discombobulated by that time changey-thingey…! ;-)
hey duanev — welcome to late late night. how ya doing tonight?
What’s on my mind? Math’s important, even for reporters who cover economics.
How is everyone?
Fine. How are you, Suzanne?
I thought I was the only person in the world who thought Axelrod was spineless and incompetent.
He’s the messenger. Firing his boss would be a lot more useful.
i’m doing well thanks. have a fire blazing in the wood stove and token is sleeping at my feet. bailey cat is ignoring both of us.
Wasn’t that the best?! And Jane has inspired me to quit coloring my hair (I think!)
Jane said Axerlrod should get gone, and Larry O’Donnell didn’t bat an eyelash..
hey cujo — how’s seattle tonight?
Far from it.
hey loohoo — how’s socal tonight?
I just wish his boss would stop begging the Republicans for “Bipartisanship”..
I love cats…
Suze! Pups!
we have a 70% chance of snow here in minnesnowta on saturday *sobs & shudders & shivers* unlike me, the grandson is very excited about it.
Similar – cold and rainy, and there’s a fire going.
AND THE KILLIN GOEZ ON AND ON AND…
Citizen Suzanne and the Firepup Patriots:
Yo Sister Suzanne, happy belated and sad Veterans Day. Hope you and yours are all runnin on a full tank, lotsa miles ta go before we’re gunna be able ta sleep.
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION, NO ONE WILL FIGHT THIS ONE FOR YOU!!
Every time Jane is on teevee she knocks it out of the park..
Hey, Suze.
hey ndfg — brrrrr brrrr and more brrrr — how was your day?
*heh* Welcome to Nirvana, duane…! The Lake’s water runs as wide as it’s deep…! ;-)
Çooling down a bit, thankfully. It’s been really comfortable.
Here the Link to her interview.
Won’t happen, I’m afraid. Their values are his values, for the most part. If there’s anything foolish about Obama, it’s that he thinks that’s enough for them to work together. It isn’t, at least to those guys.
hey norske — how ya doing tonight dood? jen finds out a week from today whether or not that’s a grandson or a granddaughter she’s carrying.
I’d noticed..
Ah! My niece goes back to Wadena on Saturday.
hey duncan — how ya doing tonight?
hey nahant — how’s deadwood city tonight?
I like the video, BTW. Reminds me of Cream.
Argh…He’s going to be really vulnerable to a primary challenge.
Citizen Norske…! A hearty salute to ya comrade….! *g*
Citizen Ctuttle:
Hang in there, Brother CT…it’ll always be the 11th hour until the killin stops and the kids are home. Didja run out on manuevers on your mountain taday?
thanks cujo — i would not be surprised if cream didn’t have a cover of it.. a lotta bands have…
Brrrrrrrrrrr but the wood burner is going full blast…
Citizen Suzanne:
Does she really wanna know or does “granny” really need ta know? Gotta get the colors right for the buntings and onezies?
she’s the one wanting to know.. i’m an old school mystery baby kinda gal…
is she prepared for snow? *g*
Really appreciate your clip, Sooz. Really nice to see Norske tonight, too!
Let’s hope so. If he isn’t, then the progressive movement will be done in this country, at least for most of what remains of my life. He’s put the progressive brand on some of the stupidest policy decisions imaginable, and lots of so-called progressives went along with them.
have fun, Chris!
glad ya like it loohoo — and ditto the nice to see norske — its been awhile for sure
Nothing you can do about it anyway… ;)
hey margot — how ya doing tonight?
I’m sure she is, NDFG! She was just basking in the sun today, literally. (After genuine Mexican food she’d been craving.) She loved the whether and food.
On the other hand, she’s a single mom both working and going to school. On her part-time salary working in an old folks home, she can afford to rent her own home. NOT possible in CA.
yup — i’m just along for the ride on this one
Too little maneuvers are available to moi…! They’ve quartered the demand and I’m relegated to standby…! Under-employed about sums it up….! 8-(
99 pounds
that blows dood :(
I really really don’t want a Republican president in ’12. Which is also the reason why I’m not real enthusiastic about Obama. A fractured coalition will pave the way for a Republican, I’m afraid, but something has to move Obama to the left. All he does is cave to the Republicans…
16
Suz, doing great, thanks for asking. One of my oldest friends is coming here from NM during her vacation and I’m so excited. Haven’t seen her in 30 years.
wow!!! how cool to see each other after 30 years
true, but she has to put up with being in Booniesville, Hick County, USA.
Jesus Christ. Soldier killed on his NINTH deployment. Heaven help us all, but especially his family.
Cheer up, there’s lots more gamma radiation out there. There ought to be some way we can relate that to a threat that needs to be watched.
judas fucking priest….. dammit loohoo… they all need to come home. now.
Citizen Loo Hoo:
Nice ta see ya still stirrin the pot here Citizen…after the Veterans Day experience I had here taday I won’t be wastin’ much time around here so keep ‘em honest and keep the red flags flyin’…as long as there are kids holdin’ weapons to secure profits for corporations and there are people who don’t know who the enemy is, there is too much work to do to waste time arguin’ with people who don’t know they are already irrelevant.
Wow! You guys will have so much to catch up on!
halloo!
*waves to all*
The only thing that might do that is the potential loss of his job, and somehow I doubt that even that is enough. He’ll make lots of money in the post-Presidency market. We’re going to get a Republican President anyway. And by that, I mean a Republican, not Obama. At least, that’s what we’ll have if Obama’s the nominee, and something hugely unforeseen happens.
hey kelly — how’s denver tonight?
Yer gettin it all, we need it down here . . . go figger La Nina gone by by I guess?
Nice vid . . . all the chops ever used, on instruments, arrangement, vocals . . . gits, Hammond B3 sounds . . . .
VERRY impressive he purrs to the LLN Mistress . . . *nbows*
“The more she aged, the darker Abigail Tucker’s solitary world had to be. Electric lights cost money. The cost of those twisty bulbs meant that, when the cheap but no longer made ones died, another lamp became only a decoration that needed dusted like her many knick-knacks spread on shelves and stands. She dreaded the three months left of winter that required so many blankets when watching television or reading, because she didn’t dare risk the price of setting the thermostat above fifty-eight degrees. Hating winter meant she had to hate Christmas, too, for she knew not another human being, nobody, to make for some joy in the holiday.
this sickens me … please. why can’t we support our troops by bringing them home? *headdesk while crying*
Citizen CTuttle:
Sorry to hear that, Brother, but it ain’t like you aren’t in some fine company with a whole lot of us…hang in there troop!
Not phookin hardly in THIS forum . . . I don’t think . .
*G*
hey larue — glad ya liked it — how’s sac tonight?
Good, other than it’s Veteran’s Day and we’re still at war.
Unfrickin’believable. Well, it would be if people who actually gave a damn about something besides themselves were running our government.
hey robert — from your soon to be released story? how was your day?
Cold – didn’t get the accompanying snow we thought we’d get – DAMN! But it’s fine in the High Country. Prolly a foot at Copper.
stephanie said she had some today up at her place north of ya…
On that incredible note…
Jon Soltz of VoteVets.org…
has been called back to duty.
So fuck.
Cats have jobs too . . . . ;-)
My bro and his sis just got a kitteh . . . to adapt to the other two new one year olds.
The older pair passed on this last two years . . . . so they are now offishally Cat People, they tell me . . . seems more n two is the qualifier . . LOL
Yer behind.
;-)
double fuck
Second and last contribution on my part to the upcoming Circle 8 Writers Group Christmas anthology Dark Christmas. This story is titled Do You Fear What I Fear. The ending was so sad, it made this strong man cry.
We all got a little – but it just didn’t make it big time over the Front Range.
I can’t wait – LOVE FIRST BIG SNOW!
We talk on the phone all the time, but it will be so good to actually see her again.
Watch it Suz – 100 ahoy
60′s hi n lo days, 40′s hi n lo for the next week . . .
Maters growin . . . herbs and wild flowers still growin . . . I should take a few pics and post a diary . . . It’s just insane . . . Nov 11!!!!!!!
N stuff’s growin that we’re eatin . . . go figger . . . I sure can’t.
*G*
Hey, Norske. I know just what you mean. Heard on a (right wing) radio talk show today about a liberal suggesting we bring some knives to the knife fight.
Can’t find it from KFI in Los Angeles.
That I will and I’ll dutifully troop on…! 8-)
Poppies, Kelly!
thanks dood
Citizen newdealfarmfrrrll:
Bless your heart Sister NDFG…there are folks workin every day to build a movement that brings the troops home…we’re gunna make folks remember the 1968 Democratic convention when Obama tries ta get renominated. We will try and finish the job we thought was done when we pulled outta Viet Nam. There are lotsa folks who feel as you do and will welcome you with love.
happy lucky 100 tut!!!
Hey Suz and pups from the up north WI, hope everyone is fine.
Simpson-Bowles was the (planned) catalyst to bring on the full court press from the Pete Peterson foundation and the Koch Bros Family Foundations, we don’t control every red cent of value yet, MOTU whiners. Spokesman for Peterson on Charlie Rose prolly paid more for his shirt and tie combo than I make in a month rent here when there is regular employment, saying O better finds some leadership and follow the recommendations.
Nice thought to sleep on.
Ohhhhh, yer insolence hisself reveals?
*G*
Want Chris Parkening on git for 24/7 piped to yas?
*G*
How you two and family doin?
Good to see yer fonts n such . . .
Did you see Rachel’s interview with Jon Stewart tonight?
For the first time, I found myself not liking Stewart so much.
hey nonq — how was your day today?
Norske?
I can’t scroll back much is he still here?
A hoss, even when I disagree with him . . . solid hoss he is.
N howdy Loo! Howsa . . .
I agree that it totally bites, now I’m sure he’ll describe the back-door draft in exquisite detail…! *gah*
bmaz inspired me – hocked up another Opera Rant here
Fuckin shit it’s just not right . . . it’s just not right.
Dayam.
*heh* Somebody has to take the bullet…! ;-)
sweet dood…recommended
Oh edit, when-for-art-thou returning.
A week in the sixties, beautiful prelude to our next phase of the seasons.
the mod squad is letting the tech crew know that we want edit back — tech is about to lose cookies and other snacks support…
We’re all Abagail Tucker anymore Robert . . . n I’m sure that was yer messaging.
We just have to get thru this horror . . . some of us will, some won’t.
But we will tell our story, we will share our time on this rock . . . and if anyone listens as we grasp our last breaths, and SOMEONE will likely be there for most of us no matter HOW we die . . .
They will hear our story . . . it will be passed on.
Know yer story.
Be ready to pass it on.
It’s how it was done for many thousands of years . . . .
I think he’s starting to read his own press. That whole “Rally for Sanity” or whatever it was looked like a pointless exercise.
It would be nice if blockquotes worked everywhere, too. Or nowhere. Consistency would be the most basic goal, I think, so I don’t have to put [blockquote][/blockquote] marks around everything.
He was supposedly ill during the interview. Botulism, or pompous self-importance? Sometimes it’s difficult to tell the difference.
CT hopped over to your small question, rec’d. I appreciate the perspective, I have trouble keeping up with all the news and views there. Thanks.
the tech crew has a whole list of things they are working on… blockquote at myfdl is on that list
Tweeted to Chris Hayes, who responded “Well put”
http://twitter.com/#!/KellyCDenver/status/2916202930241536
I guess the question is what are we going to do about it? Sit at our keyboards? I’m at the point where I’m looking for some action. If we could do it in our teens and twenties, couldn’t we do something now? We need some leaders. Where is our freaking leadership?
Let’s try that again…
i was just about to ask…. ya beat me to it dood
Hi Suz, hi everyone…have been burning the midnight oil and writing my first ever myFDL post. Thought I’d publish it in the dead of night and make a quick escape! ;-)
Here ’tis
He said ‘hocked’ . . . .
;-)
hey ll — how’s va tonight? wow, a first ever myfdl post !!!
Specially for you, CTuttle. Congrats on the 100!
Gotta go – school night and it’s flipping midnight!
Smooches upon you all!
*poof*
g’nite kelly
They got comfortable, I think, as did the rest of us. It still floors me that John Kerry voted for the AUMF.
There are a whole lot of things that would be improved by better, more responsive government. That strikes me as the first priority. How we get there is a bit of a mystery, but there are people working on it, it would appear.
“This boy is hungry, he ain’t got enough to eat
That girl’s cold and she ain’t got no shoes on her feet
When a child’s spirit’s broken
And feels all hope is gone
God help them find the strength to carry on…”
__Shania Twain, God Bless the Child
“Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday blasted a bipartisan draft proposal by the co-chairmen of President Barack Obama’s fiscal commission that would slice $4 trillion from the deficit over the next decade.” (from Roll Call)
Hmmmm, where have I recently heard about a similar $4 trillion figure over a decade?
Oh, I get it. And I also understand what deal was cut earlier this year, similar to the deal cut over health care reform even before it was rolled-out early last year, a deal that nixed any universal single payer or public option.
If all the budget-busting deficit-exploding Bush era tax cuts are extended and made permanent, then it will end up costing the U.S. treasury about $4 trillion over ten years. If the Bush era tax cut covering any income over $250,000 is allowed to expire on time, but Bush era tax cuts remain in place for income below $250,000, then this will end up costing the U.S. treasury about $3 trillion over ten years.
And (by chance) Obama’s Cat Food Commission heads, Simpson and Bowles, both conservatives, come up with their plan which cuts $4 trillion over ten years from the federal budget, while throwing in additional tax cuts for the wealthy, which (also by chance) just happens to be the cost to our country of extending permanently the Bush era tax cuts.
Gee, this makes me think that early this year, while President Obama was busy establishing the right-leaning Cat Food Commission, the thought was already in mind to not let the budget-busting deficit-exploding Bush era tax cuts expire as planned (per Republican budget-busting deficit-exploding legislation passed almost ten years ago), but to extend them while offsetting their cost of $4 trillion over ten years with the recommendations of the Cat Food Commission. Incredible. Just like what happened during health care “reform,” corporate fat cats taken care of, with everyone else paying the price, primarily middle-class working families and the poor.
Wild pigs have more integrity (and patriotism) than these conservative pigs. And the idea that President Obama is cutting deals with these conservative pigs only covers him, and his administration, in the same conservative pig slop.
Yeah! I’ve been reading and commenting here since the Libby trial, and have never been so bold as to try my hand at contributing a post. Felt inspired tonight ;-)
VA is still nice and quiet, cold tonight too. 31F according to my weatherbug widget, but the days have been sunny and nice, in the low 60′s.
hey theoracle — how ya doing tonight?
evening, Suzzz … firegods
I’m doing well, thanks. Norske is a long time rebel around these parts. A cool MN type with conviction.
The type of person our country was built on.
Loved that Vee for victory, M’dear…! ;-)
i’ve gotten down into the very low 40′s but the areas around portland have gotten into the 30′s at night. love that ocean mitigation :)
There will be no leaders.
They all get ‘gone’ one way or another, as you and I have seen.
However, Loo . . . should you and I decide to hit the streets . . .
I hope to share a water bottle with ya out there . . . or what the hayall, a bota bag of fine cheap Spanish red . . . .
I don’t think there’s gonna be a revolution cuz we lack all the elements we had in the 50′s/60′s/70′s.
I’m pretty depressed about that . . . but dang I’d be delighted if we the people DID hit the streets . . .
We hope on?
Dayam Skippy, M’dear…! ;-)
I like chilly nights too — wish I had a fireplace though! At least I have a “heater cat” ;-)
tis the best sleeping weather — token puts out a lot more heat than ya would think the little guy could
I’ve always thought of my role as “cat heater”.
I’d go all U Utah Phillips on ya for a much better message . .
I’d go all Studs Terkel on ya, too.
The history of our livin and dying at the hands of The Man is well told by them both.
And many more . .
*G*
I remember back in the second half of the ninties, when Dan Rostenkowski wanted to pass, I believe, a $15 surcharge on the medicare premiums of well-off seniors,so less forunate seniors might be better able to afford their medications, them angry old folks chased him through the streets of Chicago.
I remember thinking how awful those better-off old folks were to fight over $15 lousey Gydam dollars to help the poor.
Hey, I got my Hovercraft, and it didn’t cost me a penny!
Somebody paid for it, Pops.
Excuse me. I meant HoverRound….
Fix Gydam edit button.
Nice diary LL, engaging slice of life.
Thanks
Yeah, we’re fucked . . . have been for ages.
All the gains from civil rights, ERA, Roe v Wade, Brown v Board of Ed, and more including SS, habeus and more including all government services from our taxes including schools and fire, police, safety, . . .
All this, is gone.
Every, thing, we believed and were raised to believe in, is gone.
You got any ideas?
We KNOW how it happened . . . that’s no child’s play.
How you gonna change it?
I’ve laid out my feelings for ages now n this foru,.
You got something new I should look into?
Thank you nonq! :-)
Loo, I’ve had differences with his policies and posits, but I’m still in his foxhole.
*G*
it really pisses me off that our public safety folks are getting jobs cut. dispatchers save lives and do not get the recognition they should for a job well done.
I just watched it. Someone’s been into the cocktail weenies. War criminal to him is Pol Pot or Nuremberg, it’s too shrill to call Bush that? We on the left “shut down debate” by Telling the Fucking Truth?? This from Jon Stewart? Arrrghh.
Rowstinkowski was a phuck . . . end of story.
;-)
Wow! About time someone denounced that glib jerk.
They are simply working Reagan’s starve-the-beast strategy. We’re down $400 billion in revenue, so blatantly we must shrink government by a similar amount. Cue the Catfood Commissioners.
National debt is the anvil on which they are trying to smash Social Security and Medicare and all other social support functions of the government.
His performance on Maddow really is quite…douchy.
It came to my attention a couple of weeks ago that Jon Stewart’s brother is the head of the New York Stock Exchange.
Not that that’s Jon’s fault.
I’m just sayin’…
hey wigwam — how’s the inland empire tonight?
Oh, shit. Et tu Jon Stewart?
A tad windy and a tad chilly. But not bad on either count.
How’s you?
cozy and warm inside :) looking forward to some sunshine tomorrow — should get into the mid 50′s :)
Thanks Suz, and as you know it’s not just us on 911 — it’s the frontline police officers and firefighters who are having a tough time. We’re always hearing about firehouses having their staffing cut, fewer officers on the street, etc. It’s a travesty.
He may have a ‘phuck’, but those seniors who chased him down over a lousey $15 dollars were greedy smucks…
There are like 3 or 4 YouTubes to contain the whole interview, here’s the one I was talking about:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waEDA21Vlg8
Yeah that pissed me off.
back in 80 when i joined the dept, it was crappy pay (but was considered good pay for a woman) but had decent benefits and job security. laying off cops and firefighters and 911 call takers and dispatchers? ridiculous and anyone who suggested it was laughed at.
things sure have changed *sigh*
Thanks Suzanne for your ever lovely and caring hosting, I’m going to talk to the pillow. Nite all.
I watched it too, and I was perplexed at Stewart. As strident as he comes across on his show, he sure seemed to take a different tack during Rachel’s interview.
Yep :-( Public safety used to be deemed untouchable, but not now.
g’nite nonq
he was very defensive — i think the criticism of his rally stung more than jon wanted to let on
So how long are we going to take this, and where is our leadership?
Dear Bob:
We are all of them greedy senior schmucks.
/end
*G*
Time for me to pumpkinize, as well. Goodnight, all.
So then, what in the name of sanity is our municiple, county and states taxes supposed to be paying for?
g’nite cujo
Hey Larue — see my #127 and read my damn post *g*
So respect Spocko…
Speak for yourself. I don’t have a greedy bone in my body. I believe the majority of my tax money, and tax me more if needed, should go to help those who are truely in desperate need in this country.
to pay all the corporations now doing gov’t work that was privatized.
Good question! It sure isn’t paying for raises for municipal employees where I work for the past few years, and maybe not even for the next couple of years. Of course I’m topped out, and have been for years, but I feel for my younger coworkers who are stuck right now.
Stew, Rach, Keith, any and all of them.
They wid da man . . .
They are all one and each bought and paid for to serve corporate interests.
And if ANY folks think Rachel’s gay personna does NOT serve the enemy, then them folks are dumber n the fox in the hen house she was bought out and paid for.
LGBT’s are getting rolled hard with Rach’s performances.
N so are all the proggy’s who think she or anhyone at MSNBC will stand for our ideals.
Harumph.
Krugman’s up in the NY Times, blasting the Cat Food Commission. He strangely omits any criticism of his own paper, though, even after its knee bruising performance in praise of Peterson’s Princes of Penury.
To help the rich, get richer.
You new here?
I’m yer glibbest fan LL . . . we kewl . . . *G*
dood…. just because someone is new here does not mean you can insult them by calling them new
;-)
Sigh, Bob, ya missed my snark . . . and frankly if ya HAVE to profess yer ideals . . .
Well then . . . . . .
Oof, it’s late and I’ve stayed up too long once again…but it was fun, and thank you Suz and all…sweet dreams and g’night!
g’nite ll — and congrats again
Even in the Great Depression, few people took to the streets in protest of the awful circumstances the last robber barons but them in. Something about lack of work and impetence in looking into the hungry faces of your kids breeds, not rebellion, but dispair…and Bonnie & Clydes.
If fact, after Hoover had McArthur chase the bonus marchers out of DC, only the farmers were prepared to storm Washington.
In class warfare, we working class have been surrendering for decades.
Are you having a bad night?
I professed my ideals because I missed your ‘snark’. And as far as professing my ideals, most posting here do just that, and that doesn’t give call for suspect.
Suz, Robert is NOT new . . .
He’s been here for a while now . .
MY comment you addressed was snarky, which ya seemed to miss.
I know who’s new, and I know who is well regarded and posting here.
I have had discussions with ROBERT in his threads before, too . . . many of them complimentary.
You missed this one.
N now I’m outta here . . . killin me.
Most indubitably, M’dear…! ;-)
g’nite larue
Aloha, Hoss…! ;-)
Ok, that brought me back.
Bob?
Have you NO clue as to the history of depression and pre/post depression rebellions, suppressions?
Have you NO knowledge of the labor movement and its actions and the prices many paid, died for?
Yer killlin me. Without labor history attribution . . . too.
Sigh.
I’m outta here . . . “tell me where is sanity.”
I’d love to change the world . . . .
Alrighty, folks. Dat’s it.
Careful, Suz… The 200 mark lurks…! ;-)
It’s past 3 O’clock (est)in the morning
And I must get some rest,
‘Cause that old edit button ain’t working
And my typing’s not the best.
So, Suzanne and her pups, see you later
The Sweety awaits me…
happy lucky 200 tut!!! two for two tonight
g’nite robert
Naw.
tis after midnight and time for me to turn into a pumpkin myself. g’nite and thank you for letting me hang out with ya tonight
*le poof*
Wowsers…! I didn’t even try Suz…! Honest Injun…! ;-)
Suze, you’ve got people all riled up around you but you’re just sittin there all mellow.
Pleasant Dreams, M’dear….! 8-)
Thanks. Sigh!
