from your link bt, this is absolutely the very best I have seen the lies leading us to war framed, from the chancelor;

“Just as I did during my subsequent meetings with the American president, I made it clear that, should Iraq … prove to have provided protection and hospitality to al-Qaida fighters, Germany would reliably stand beside the US,” Shröder said. “This connection, however, as it became clear during 2002, was false and constructed.”

oh baby, talk about the smack down, he didn’t stop where everyone else stops he goes further with “and constructed”, read “made up in the president’s own head”

Bush would have endorsed Obama?

After two years of Obama I can see why.

We all feel your pain about the no-edit.

It was not just made up in the president’s own head. It was the story line concocted years before the Decider’s Pearl Harbor moment.

British officials say Bush’s lying? Well, take this you limeys.

In a rare move, the Justice Department on Tuesday announced that it had charged a former vice president and top lawyer for the British drug giant GlaxoSmithKline with making false statements and obstructing a federal investigation into illegal marketing of the antidepressant Wellbutrin for weight loss.

Link. Shocking news indeed, that someone at DOJ is actually doing something to earn his paycheck.

On the Bill Press radio show, Press was criticizing DOJ for not prosecuting destruction of the CIA torture tapes. One caller suggested the rough stuff was still occurring and that is the reason it is concealed.

But the meme I believe is: Torture was used to extract false confessions as a pretext for war.

Give Press credit, insofar as most of the electronic communication shiills, such as ODonnell cover it up.

And aside from the blogs will the U.S. public see this reported in the corporate media? Can the independents, Republicans, teabaggers handle the truth?

Torture was used to extract false confessions as a pretext for war.

Also as a means to intimidate the proles here at home so they don’t get any ideas when The Great Social Security Heist occurs.

Mornin’, BT, pups

In Message to G-20 Leaders, Obama Aims to Calm Tensions

In a letter to other leaders of the Group of 20 economic powers, released shortly after he arrived here, Mr. Obama tried to calm the currency tensions that have roiled global economic relations, though he did not mention by name the two most prominent sources of the tension: China’s foreign-exchange interventions and the Federal Reserve’s recent decision to inject $600 billion into the economy.

Right, Obama, convince China to raise the value of its currency by 20% so the currency traders at GS can make a cool 200% profit on their currency trades with the bucks they get from the Fed. Assholes.

The only rational explanation I can see for not prosecuting torture, war crimes and CIA cover-ups is because too many people in the leadership caste will be implicated for complicity.

That whole “looking forward, not back” thing…. you’d think they would have been able to come up with something better.

Good quote from the article about Glaxo.

“This is absolutely precedent-setting — this is really going to set people’s hair on fire,”

Those responsible for the GOM spill have even greater culpability. Why is no one at DOJ setting their hair on fire?

Nearly 59 million Americans went without health insurance coverage for at least part of 2010, many of them with conditions or diseases that needed treatment, federal health officials said on Tuesday.

And the Health Insurance Company and Pharmaceutical Welfare and Giveaway Act isn;t going to significantly reduce this number, no matter what they like to say.

Seems that poor widdle teabagger DeMint’s stock has dropped considerably since the Tea Party wing’s fail to bring home the Senate for the GOP.

Speaking of which, when if ever are we going to see the list and minutes of the meetings he and Cheney had with the oil barons in January 2001. Remember? The one’s that the environmental lobby were banned from attending? They were carving up Iraq from the get-go.

Maybe some of those Christian bikers who love to ride and thump on weekends and spend the rest of the week standing on the necks of poor people.

Excellent point, that meeting was the seminal event of the Bush years. It is unlikely that the minutes will ever see the light of day, because without doubt they include Cheney’s laying out the premise for the carving up of Iraq (i.e., the new Pearl Harbor).

I’m really happy to see the R thumb wrestling match over earmarks. Even if the earmarks banners win, it’ll save what, about 1% of USG spending? Really a worthwhile way for the Rs to spend their time, since it will fool the TBers bigtime. /s

Exactly. Let it. And let’s step out of their way and start focusing on our own task: weeding out the sellouts infesting the Democratic Party.

They’re battling over the direction of the right. Let them.

We had that battle in 2006 and 2008. The Democrats’ base spoke clearly. Now we just have to get the right leaders in office who will follow through on the promises.

Let the GOP circular firing squad commence.

Uh oh, Demint may want to rethink Rand Pauls support…..sounds like Paul might be waffling a little bit on the whole earmark thing. From ABCs This Week:

AMANPOUR: And what about earmarks? Would you say no to earmarks?

PAUL: No — no more earmarks.

AMANPOUR: No more? Not even in your state?

PAUL: No. No. But I do tell people within Kentucky is I say, look, I will argue within the committee process for things that are good for Kentucky that they want and also within the context of a balanced budget. (emphasis mine)
