Suze! Pups!
z.e.d.
Hey ndf!
Hiya Pups!
hey ndfg — how ya doing tonight?
Aloha, Suz…! ;-)
Christine!
hey senator — how was your day?
hey ce — how’s ohio tonight?
Suz and CT!
It was beautiful here today. Crisp, Breezy and Clear.
Hey! It is winter!
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight?
raining here…. supposed to let up tonight and be showers tomorrow
i’m doing fine, other than being sleep-deprived tired … i’ve been babysitting the g-unit while his mommy is out of town for a long weekend with friends. Nothing like a lively 6-yr-old and a time-share-doggie to wear out this old farmgrrrlll.
Gonna rain here tomorrow. About an inch in Sac and two in the mountains.
*waves*
If you think about it they are both sort of time-share.
stephanie said she’s got snow in her forecast for this coming week — she sure is loving living in colorado
but its the good kinda tired ndfg
Totally soggy… It drowned out our Veteran’s Day Parade… A whole, new level of ‘Rained on your Parade’ has been achieved…! ;-)
aw crap :( are they gonna reschedule it?
What a day! After last night’s photograhy show at the CIA in Cleveland — a huge hit, we had a great brunch. Later, MUCH later after two hours of chopping and mixing, the Christmas cake went into the oven at 3:00 p.m. The power went out at 4:00, and by 4:30 we bundled the two cakes into boxes and sent them away to be baked in a neighborhood far, far away from my little Cleveland Heights.
yay and yikes! after they are baked, when do ya start soaking them?
beautiful in The City Beautiful. Except that I have an asshole crook for a governor, an ambitious, teabagger-’cause-it-suits-him for a Senator; and an evolution denier for a congreessperson. but 67 and not a single cloud today.
what it do, soooz?
*waves to all!*
I sent Marsha home with the cakes, and a small bottle of Famous Grouse. She will start tonight, and then when she can haul in my cake on Monday, I’ll bathe it every two days.
hey bfl — sounds like the good, the bad and the ugly dood… how ya doing?
hey kelly — how’s denver tonight?
“Waves” — big, fat, heavy snow all day today!
Hi Chris, yes it sure is winter!
Hi Suz, great cartoon:)
~~waving
Nope… They did bravely march on……! They certainly abbreviated it for the spattering of onlookers, tho…! ;-)
Hey BFL!
Missed you.
glug-glug go the cakes :) you gonna stick with famous grouse again this year?
hey margot — glad ya liked it. how much snow did ya get?
Wow! We should be having some weather here, but nope. Clear as a bell, mid 70s today and tomorrow.
It’s like AUGUST, and it’s freaking me out!
heh … true, but i am lucky enough to be sharing a house with my daughter and grandson. But alas, because of my 2nd shift schedule, i hardly get to see the g-unit other than a few hours friday and sunday nights. So babysitting is a heckuva deal for me.
time-share doggie is with us this week because the ex’s wife is recovering from surgery for breast cancer and puppy, altho loving, is too rambunctious. So we have doggie on an off week. (and i adore the woman, she is wonderful and far better than ex deserves. but he always has had excellent taste in women *g*)
The power outage freaked me out — MY CAKES! But after Marsha took them home, MrCE and I went to his office, third floor to watch the sunset, which was beautiful (and charge our laptops). How are you?
yay for the extra week and sending her some positive healing thoughts
Lake effect Snow fall…? ;-)
Oh we didn’t get any, it was just one of those dreary winter-like dark days.
so much for your weather doods acting like a forking blizzard was coming…
Oh yes!
Big, fat heavy flakes. Wet, but still beautiful!
((Chris)) I’m fine, how are you? Did the power go back on yet?
major oh noes! glad you found a good samaritan with a working oven.
Yes, by 6:30 p.m. We watched the sunset from the Allen Library, it was so rosy pink that one would never believed that it snowed all day!.
…but he always has had excellent taste in women *g*…
Most indubitably, M’dear…! *g*
oooooo i love pink sunsets….
OMG we have had at least three this week!
sunsets
Lovely. I can’t get enough of them. The sunset on the ferry to Norway, from Copenhagen was superb.
evening, Suzzz
now that the sunsets are back to directly over the bay, all i’m gonna need is some sun instead of the overcast. i’m hoping for some pinks although the golds are pretty too. i’ve noticed i get more pinks in winter
hey ppd — how ya doing tonight?
Ocean Sunsets are the bestest…! ;-)
They make me so, so happy. Why is that?
My old ones, Lewes DE!
hiya CE, CT
tis nature’s eye candy
Hey you!
good, thanks — how’s everything up north, Suzzz?
sunrise sunset
Yes it is. I’m such a lover of the ocean, clouds, and the shore.
wet :) tis cozy inside with token in his bed at my feet and bailey cat snoozing on the mat near the fire.
how’s that recall coming in Ohio to remove Kasich?
Aloha, PPD…! ;-)
Could I just move my house to France?
We are doomed. Sigh.
great, sounds like it’s fireplace weather already in OR.
can we make it an fdl commune
been raining steady since i got up around the crack of noon. the front is just now starting to approach the coast… there be lotsa cold air behind that front
Try a recall — it worked for the governator when karl rove and enron had Gray Davis thrown out of office.
Not as bad as the Texans, tho…!
Rick Perry: Let States Secede From Social Security
*gah*
suppose to rain around the bay tomorrow — we’ll see if it drifts this far south.
We finally had summer in my part of California this week and last…..and it was divine! The Channel Islands glistening offshore; clear skies over the Oxnard Plain; wonderful Pacific surf kicking up. Nice. Kinda made up for the craziness of national elections. At least California held true and we’ve got Jerry Moonbeam back…..and I’m glad for that.
Sigh, if I could make it work! Man there are so many hoops to jump.
looks like it may… edit: link fixed
Commie!
hey dearie — how ya doing tonight?
Oui!
Socialist!
*heh* We elected a true Liberal to be our Guv here too..! ;-)
Doing great, Suz. Enough work to suit me. Time with baby-boys on the weekends. And time to enjoy FDL — especially saTHERSday thread….so interesting. What a great place to learn.
Allons enfants de la Patrie!
Mais oui!
Good Morning from Pennsylvania!
Hope we get a reprieve. I’ve got trim to paint before gutters install on Monday.
the good life :)
baby is baby turnip this week — 5oz…. jen’s baby bump is bigger. thanksgiving day is the halfway point of her pregnancy — she’ll be 20 weeks that thursday
hey robert — how ya doing tonight?
you may be far enough south that ya only get clouds and no rain…. fingers and toes crossed for ya dood
Aren’t ya about to lose an hour, Bob…? 8-)
Okay. My latest OpedNews article Rachel Maddow Gently Rolls Olbermann Under the Bus got linked on Rachel Maddow’s blog. Guess I’m famous!
Grandmommying, Suz, is soooo interesting! Watching baby brains develop is utterly fascinating. I loved my own kids, but it’s different to see grandkids develop each week. Divine! You are in for some kind of fun!
Shit, I forgot about that. So many clocks. So little time.
Hey – when you become Gramma Suz, can we just shorthand call ya “Gruz” or will you insist on “Gruzanne?”
wow!
So does the ‘turnip’ have a stem or not…? 8-)
i’ll still be suz to ya’ll — jen and i are still discussing what baby turnip will call me…. she’s one who does not like ‘ma’ and there’s no forking way i’m ‘grandmother’. way too formal. granny sounds too old
find out 11/18
Lost my comment ten minutes ago. Shoot.
I adore Rachel, but she disappointed a lot of her fans the other night with her milquotoast stand for Keith.
happy lucky 100 ce!!!
I read your piece.
May I, while I express fundamental disagreement with the premise and the conclusion, ask a question?
Do you for a second believe that Olbermann did not only approve of, but likely have a hand in writing, that segment?
Hoe bout ‘Grand mama’?
I vote “Zamma.”
I thought of that, but rejected the notion. He may have advised her to tread lightly, though.
Guess we’ll never know more than what she said, “Rules are rules.”
I primed everything this morning. It’s much easier to paint before they install the gutters.
my mother is nana to my girls — mom said she was too young to be a grandma… me, i like the name grandma…
*heh* Besides dancing precariously close to century mark, do you suppose Nana is outta line…? ;-)
oh yeah…. much faster too
look up
Damnit…! My hele connection sux…! Whatcha drinking…? ;-)
True, that was lame.
“The Deer Hunter ” on Encore.
my usual latte dood
hey duncan — how’s la county tonight?
Extra foam…? Sliding down the counter, M’dear…! ;-)
That is not all Maddow said, and to paint as such is not an equitable reading.
Where is the treatment where she posed Fox as a political operation, where MSNBC isn’t?
Because that’s true. Fox advocates for candidates BY NAME and by DONATION, where MSNBC doesn’t by NAME, and Keith’s contributions had to be googled to know he made any contributions.
“Grammy” works for me. A friend’s mother-in-law insists upon being called ‘gran’mere’ — tho the family isn’t French. The kids call her Denise, her given name. Makes me laugh!
Gorgeous — like Grannys in Oregon I suspect.
Do you ever get out to Bend? Only went there once myself but it was fine.
poifect — thanks dood :) ooooh, pretty foam art
i may go with grammy…. we will talk about it over turkey on thanksgiving :)
Respectfully, what would you, or better, Keith, have had her say?
To frame her comments in the same way he does wrt Fox News – the fraudulent nature of that organization from the ground up as contrast?
Or would you, or Olbermann, instead of asking her to look squarely at the competing organization, throw herself on a grenade on his behalf and trash NBC/MSNBC?
What would a friend ask her to do?
What about Scarboro? She alluded to him, but backed off mentioning his name. What about Bush fundraiser Burke, NBC CEO from Comcast. She could have mentioned that.
haven’t seem much of my new state — i’ve been up and down the 5 and 101 routes…. haven’t made it into the cascades yet. i hear its gorgeous up there
And as to Rachel Maddow, for some reason she gets dinged here a lot, but I think she is doing fine. If Keith provoked by testing his prick of a boss, well, he’ll have to deal with that. I think there is a difference between FOX and MSNBC (facts, for example) and she made that point. But, oh well, I guess she’s a loser like Nancy Pelosi (who I also think hauled for the Dems). What am I missing? Why do so many dislike Pelosi?
He elevated Rachel from a fading Air America to the choice 9PM hour on MSNBC. I’d say she owed her “friend” a bit more than she delivered last night.
The better half doesn’t care one iota what she’ll be called… as long as it’s sooner than later…! 8-)
I’m just happy neither of the girls are hitched and not about to…! Color me prejudiced…! ;-)
I’m no expert on Oregn (I can pronounce it sorta like a local), but the drive inland via Medford was outrageously, almost criminally beautiful the time I did it.
Everyone was friendly so long as I didn’t mention California. :)
She gave precisely what he would have asked of her as a friend – not to sacrifice herself in an act of orgiastic flameout.
He is neither damaged nor constrained by anything she said.
we don’t know what was actually in his contract. and we don’t know if his suspension was to due violating his contract or some ‘nbc ethics’ rule. don’t know what is in that rule either.
i think we will learn more monday
I love Nancy Pelosi, and I love Rachel.
Love means you never have to say you’re sorry__Love Story, 1970.
I ‘got’ from Rachel’s brief speech that she was being squeezed by the overlords and I had no sense of her throwing Keith under the bus. Was she supposed to fall on the grenade? Who would we have speaking to us in the future? Her days are probably numbered in any case.
Boulder Creek’s expecting alot of rain tomorrow — it’s already falling in SF tonight.
one summer, drive up the coast along 101…. puts the 5 drive to shame. i’m sorta considered a local now — this will be my 3rd winter on the coast
No mention of Scar on your post either. And the Comcast deal isn’t done yet.
i get the same average annual rainfall here as i did in boulder creek — 70 to 75″ per year. except up here, its spread out over the entire year and not doesn’t all fall between november and april.
Gee, Rachel was fine pounding the drums that Obama and the Dems should risk their jobs fighting for their priciples.
Maybe now she understands what it is like to choose between principles and being fired.
It’s been that long…? I remember the cabin amongst the Redwoods like it was yesterday…! *sigh*
Comcast ain’t done yet, but Burke was shipped over from Comcast to move Zucker out of the way.
moved to oregon 2 years ago august and into this place that october. doesn’t seem that long to me either
That must be nice. How long is the “true summer” last? Is it very rainy in the spring and fall?
To go into the scar business is to draw flies.
As Maddow pointed out, the Scar contributions were made under the auspices of prior management.
Further, you can shoot at the ultimate target – Fox, or you can shoot at yourself – your employer.
I thought it was a marvelously crafted statement at the end. They are both safe, the intended target suffered what can only be fair-mindedly characterized as a mortal wound (if Fox were mortal), and the contract issue (which none of us really know anything about) is still where it belongs – with the lawyers.
*gasp* We’re getting old…! *g*
I ask again – if you were Olbermann, what would you ask of her?
If you were Maddow, would you respect his wishes?
Love ya more than my luggage, but, Rachel isn’t bad in this iteration, and MSNBC did what they wanted to do, and you can characterize it however you want.
I’ll leave it at that.
depends on el nino or la nina years…. there are many more non rainy days in the summer than there are rainy ones… it gets right pretty up here around may… mothers day is the traditional ‘ok to plant in the ground day’ for gardeners.
I served in various position from steward up to the last ten years of my employment as President of my union local. I had to take on my bosses every day on behalf of employees other than myself, and there were some fearful times in some of those confrontations when I could have pissed my pants in fear of retaliation up to losing my job.
But I did it.
The least Rachel could have done is say she disagreed with NBC’s decision. She owed Keith that much.
Again…
I thought Rachel’s demeanor strongly suggested that she disapproved of Keith’s suspension. I don’t know that she should have given the brass reason to fire her too. We’ll see how long she lasts. Then we’ll have Tweety and LaLa O’Donnell to pontificate at the left…….but I won’t be watching.
Do you have some inside information?
I do not.
I presume that they are friends.
And I presume that Rachel’s first call, upon finding out about this, wasn’t to her lawyer or her agent, but to Olbermann.
I have no evidence or information, other than the supposition that they really are friends.
Nobody knows if Keith asked anything of Rachel. It doesn’t matter if he did ask her not to disagree with the brass, anyway. It’s like a mother who tells her kid not to waste money on her for a birthday present, but is disappointed when he doesn’t.
I’m not watching now. I owe that to Olbermann for breaking away from the Fox-clone pack years ago and taking on Rumfeld, and for making progressive ideas cool again.
I see your point. If we assume that that communication took place, (a not unreasonable assumtion), I’m sure that Keith would have insisted that she not create trouble for herself. He seems like a class act.
I understand that your premise is severely undercut by my finding.
I would expect you to fight for it. No, I do not know for a fact that they spoke.
But I have some friends, and I know a little about how friendships are conducted.
Olbermann’s demise at the hands of Comcast is the ultimate irony of his closing line from Murrow. The only difference is there is no effective fourth estate that operates independently of corporate interests.
A class act was Chris Hayes refusing to sub for Keith in protest.
A class act would have been for Rachel to trust all her fans to cover her back while she did the right thing and simply declared NBC was wrong in what they did to Olbermann.
Only if we presume that their friendship is a bunch of crap – and I have nothing that suggests it – would it make any sense at all for them to not collude on a statement.
And if you listen to it again, and read the transcript, you see that it was very craftily done.
Robert @154: I wonder if that would be something Olbermann would want? I’ll watch Rachel til I think she’s failed in her efforts, but I certainly won’t watch Olbermann fill-ins. And I admire Chris Hayes (whom I don’t much care for) for refusing to be the sub. Good on him. If MSNBC is going Fox-lite, it will be of no interest to me.
There has not really been one since…2000, 2001, maybe earlier.
Comcast is just another Rethug leaning corporation with greed on steriods. Comcast wants Net Neutrality killed. And, yes, Keith was the first in their firing range to please the Rethugs. Rachel’s next. Profitabilty for MSNBC means nothing to them. It Net Neutrality killed via pleasing the new House majority and intimidating the Dems.
OK, this is ballsy.
Have I missed something?
Has KO been fired?
She did say it in a rather circuitous route… But, she did state it…!
I did say earlier that She should’ve said she was stepping aside in her anchorship in a show of solidarity, but, I’m only a mere mortal…! ;-)
Yes, but not inflammatory.
I continue to marvel at this high-wire act of a statement.
The issue is she declined to say who at MSNBC had been waved of the rule, and why the rule was applied to Olberman but not Bush W. Pioneer fundraiser NBC CEO Steve Burke.
Now that would have taken balls….
The message is clear, newt — if you’re not a crackhead, money loser like Glenn Beck, you’re not worth defending to your shareholders. Just ask Spocko.
I appreciate Hayes’ action. I appreciate Maddow’s gig too.
And I find it interesting that this “purity” principle is applied in this situation by you.
What other hard lines do you draw?
I thought she was pretty masterful and didn’t duck or weave. Her face said it all. Her words were clear. And, hell, if they have that rule about donations, did Keith not know that? Or not care? Or have some motive? Or whatever?
OK, so in this purity vein Gibbs should out the WH on the flip flops, right?
Yes, but is there anything to suggest that Keith is anything but classy? I don’t claim to be “inside TV” so I don’t know anyone who has worked with him, but he seems like a pretty stand-up guy. A stand-up guy would go out of his way to tell people he cared about not to throw themselves on hand grenades — at least not over a suspension.
True, she could have ignored that and gone ahead with something stronger. But read the quote I pulled. I think that goes pretty far. Most people would not lecture their bosses in print full stop. Certainly not after making such a calculated move as Keith’s suspension.
I will take my lumps for this if deserved, and I will do it right here.
Bur Olbermann is back on the air, in full-on flame, by Monday, November 8.
And I would not be at all surprised if he is back this coming Friday.
Maddow loves the guy, as much as she is able. She adores him.
Btw, ya’ll here’s a petition with 200,000 signatures on it for KO…!
Jeez, it’s raining again on the Oxnard Plain…..what a strange year. We usually get rain in Jan/Feb, but this year we’ve had rain in almost every month. Very strange; unnerving, actually. Not that I mind the rain, but that I wonder about the change.
I have no purity test, just character test. The comparison between Rachel and Hayes I think was sufficient.
Check that – Monday November 15…
OK, tell us that you have never had a conflict as you proscribe it.
I really think Gibbs job is to bob and weave for the President, and not a fair argument of basic loyalty to a man who made her a media star.
So bobbing and weaving is sometimes ok, for some people, but not others.
And for those of us who thought that we could…at least!….grow our own vegetables the coast was shrouded in fog all summer. Couldn’t have grown anything without grow lights. Not looking good. I thought about driving up to Ojai one day just to see some sunshine.
I respect where you’re coming from as a union person, but isn’t it right to be a little bit cagey in Rachel’s circumstances? After all, Keith is a pretty big fish.
So, OK, ballsy grading on a media curve. :)
She sounded tepid to me, too, and I was disappionted. But I’ve also worked in TV and you wouldn’t believe what childish asses these people are. In that context, reading her statement I do think it’s ballsy of her. Calculated yes, even cagey, but not without risks to her career.
She could have called in sick in protest. I noticed Friday Dylan Radigan was absent/guest host Cenk Uygur; Matthews was on Hardball; but no Ed Shultz/again guest host is Uygur.
What other MSNBC personalities that day behind the scenes declined out of disgust that the bass had to use Uygur twice as sub?
This isn’t personal. It’s fundamental.
To believe what we seem to believe, you start with something between them that included enormous professional respect.
This looks like enormous professional respect.
twas a strange june up here — hardly any sun and more rain than is typical.
Including mine. I wonder if Rachel signed it?
Suz – another gem of a restoration on the toon this evening.
And one I have never seen.
Let me clear up my thought process: When Rachel declines to do what she urges Dems to do every night__stand by priciples even under the threat of loss of career, she demonstrates she don’t walk the talk when her own career may be on the line.
Hmmmmm. Are there any conjectures on the backstory? NBC got bought out by Comcast, which is known to be quite far to the right. It this there way of asserting “editorial discipline” on their news staff? Or, is it simply that some VP got his nose out of joint?
hey wigwam — how ya doing tonight?
thanks newton — glad ya liked it…
Dylan looked/sounded a bit nervous-breakdown-tired after election night. Was this protest?
I agree it would have been cool to see some “blue flu”. But of course Rachel chose to go on air and make her statement instead, and there’s an argument for doing that, too. After all she is one of only a few strong personalities on our side.
I liked the rest of her show and thought it added much needed balance to the post-election pundit spew. If she hadn’t shown up we wouldn’t have had that. After all, look at who the New York Times chose to feature on their Op-Ed pages right after the election. Evan Fucking Bayh: the little nut who fell from the Birch.
I’m an INTJ, so maybe I should just hold back, but don’t you find it curious that Keith didn’t just give a friend $2400 to give to Grijalva and same to the other two and say, “Send it on.”? I just have to wonder if he was being provocative. He apparently has an ongoing ‘thing’ with the person who “thinks he is” his boss. (Sorry, too tired to link, but still fascinated by this brouhaha.)
Great thanks. Got a wee bit of rain today.
I’ve been indoors slaving away all day, and just now put it away.
Shine a Light
Wow, this is long.
As far as I can tell, there is a contract (which only close players have seen), and it may or may not have riders which constitute NBCs ethics provisions.
So let’s assume that they are using the clause that says no donations can be made without prior notification as the breach argument…
Exactly how is this provision written and enforced? If notification is all that is required, then NBC is essentially making a claim that he didn’t file some pro forma paperwork, and is in breach. This is laughable.
But what if the notification clause is written so that PRIOR notification paperwork must be submitted, and someone in standards and practices must sign off BEFORE the donation is allowed? This is breach (whether you and I think it is a heinous clause or not).
*heh* When Neocon Bill Kristol is saying… Olbermann’s suspension is simply “ludicrous.” Something is awry…! ;-)
Or….maybe this was all a stunt by MSNBC to boost rating. Should Olbermann return, the night of his return will pulverize O’Bully’s ratings.
light me up
Added to the above…
I think.
The comcast overlords will get rid of Keith and Rachel. Then the message from the crazy will be the only thing airing. I am amazed at how much stupid was elected on Tuesday. Thank heavens my state didn’t get taken by the crazy.
aw crap, i snagged the 200
fuck
Rob @199: I hope that Keith wouldn’t play into such a scheme.
fuck
Who better?
hey tbsa — how ya doing tonight?
You assume her career ISN’T on the line, and I maintain the first set of facts rule:
- Olberman never was a pitch man to raise funds for any candidate
- Maddow didn’t have to say anything; and what she said was consistent with her fine self.
Gawker debunked that claim, newt…! NBC News had exempted the MSNBC crew long before of the same “ethic’s compliance”…! Griffin’s wielding his own political vendetta…! 8-(
Good evening all .. thanks for hosting Suz .. I believe Keith provoked it in order to find out where he/they stand so there is time to get re-positioned prior to next election by “forcing their hand” ..
Ed was away Friday deer hunting up here in Canada ..
I think Rachel said what she had to in order to let us know that Keith is fine, it is a suspension, and we all reacted as we should .. a petition nearing 250,000 signatures that puts the ball back squarely in “their” court ..
We need a rich progressive to buy a Network and giveus a real and free voice ..
Clealy something is “awry.” But I’m trying to figure out what it might be? It sounds, at first blush, like a petty let-em-know-who’s-boss move. But Keith has on at least one occasion gone into he-don’t-tell-me-what-to-do mode. So this may be a testosterone-heavy pissing contest between him and some VP.
I’m sure it was consistent with her true self, but, then, she should not preach a higher standard for timid Dems. That’s all I’m sayin’.
I would urge anyone who wants to know who Keith Olbermann is, to google up his interview in Bill Moyers studio from a few years ago.
It is a real beauty.
How is BC tonight?
What I saw was potential violations of the same standards, but while MSNBC was under prior management, and presumably under different guidelines.
That’s exactly what I fear. But I’m hoping I’m wrong. Sanity is such a rare thing, except for the Comdey Channel.
I DVD recorded that interview. I’ll take it out of my library for old times sake.
hey tearloch — how ya doing tonight? thank you :) i really enjoy hosting lln — which is a total surprise to me
Real good thanks .. freezing solid at night .. no snow, no bugs, no tourists .. love it!!
I have it here in DV too.
All is well .. canna wait til Monday when MSNBC brass faces reality ..
Cable systems grown up are a dangerous thing. They combine the arrogance of monopolies with family fiefdom weirdness.
If Glenzilla accepts Lawrence O’Donnell’s invitation, I’ve want to see that on Monday.
And I might add: however irregular their enforcement is, if he is in breach, they have him.
But I really don’t think they have him, unless he is bound by permission standards before he donates. And even then, I think this is a shot across the bow, not a prelude to a firing.
I miss Bill Moyer. And while I liked Alyison (sorry, always have trouble spelling her name)when she subed for Keith, she’s wasted as Moyer’s replacement.
Exactly. I’m hoping that Internet TV will break up some of that. Hope. Hope. Hope.
There are little shoes, big shoes, and there are impossible shoes.
Now if you could only be rid of real estate speculators you’d be free of all 4 horsemen.
Have you noticed how O’Donnell get the creepy Rethugs that won’t go on Olbermann or Rachel? That’s becaudse those Rethugs like O’Donnell. There’s a reason for that.
i hear ya on the no tourists bit — i’m on the 3 capes scenic by-way and its a drove of rv’s, cars, and motorcycles during tourist season. i’m between cape meares and cape lookout and its the only road that connects them. south of cape lookout the route takes one to cape kiwanda and pacific city where the dory boats launch from the beach.
so peaceful when the tourists all head home for the winter
Well Puppers, we got ourselves another hour!
So, here’s a tune I’ve been all all about grasser wise but this is old school Gram Parsons.
Miller’s Cave
I have gotten all grassy over this song with the harmonies and more.
From one of the past decade’s best bluegrass fiddlers Lord Michael Cleveland.
Michael N Flamekeeper.
Great bluegrass!
*G*
I fervently hope that it result’s in Griffin’s firing…! But, I digress…!
Unlikely .. they are like undertakers and accountants .. and lawyers .. woven into the fabric of reality .. :)
lo’d is a villager — to them, he’s not a dfh. i can’t stand his hubris and condensation — i refuse to watch his show since he was so forking rude and talking down to that lady.. shit, wish i could remember her name….
hey larue — how ya doing tonight?
Griffin’s only doing what his boss Steve Burke ordered him to do, now that Burke’s friends will own the House of Representatives and the Fate of Net Neutrality…
I’ve always liked Moyers. My father worked with him back at CBS, later I happily shipped him a warehouse full of “review copies” of books when I worked in academic publishing.
i can’t remember the details.. he was all ‘little lady’ in his attitude to her… patronizing
she was representing some organization iirc…
That’s what I say. I get such a kick out of it but don’t tell Suz.
Wasn’t that about social security? You do know O’Donnell was given the 10PM slot because he is the Chief spokesman for the Catfood Commission?
it was around the time it was announced that he was getting his own show and it really set me off.
dammit, i wish i could remember the details.. he was sitting in for either ko or rachel
Yup. And I’ve been liking O’Donnell less all the time for a couple years now. He always seems to be working some wierd centrist agenda.
I really must visit OR again in the fall .. my ex and I travelled all the western states back in ’76 .. you folks had a great 200th B’day party .. Or and Idaho left lasting impressions from that September ..
i think it was.. she was representing an organization that advocates for senior citizens i think….
Yo Bob . . . surely ya know how radio stunts or tv stunts work . . .
And surely, hoss, you know this is not of that ilk.
Bob, that’s just embarrassing.
I know radio stunts . . . this is not one.
This is not a ratings gag.
Sigh . . . . .
fall it really is at its best. some rainfall so the greens are vibrant contrasting with the fall color. and when it storms, i find it exciting.
He, all of a sudden, was substituting for Keith before he got the 10PM slot. That was like putting Scarlboro in that chair!
Whatever. Writer/media types must be adored or right, or something.
Meanwhile…
I was astonished to find this week that the thing I was most gobsmacked with, was not the Tuesday vote results, but a thing from markfromireland.
I had no idea that the Gorillas Guides folks were facing an evacuation of kids from orphanages in Irak. And that Irak is generally going to blow up again. And that nobody knows that.
And that there’s this quiet and dignified equanimity where the Gorrilas Guide folks are trying to explain cultural differences with Islam.
I’m an unabashed atheist, but a fair historian and I find I must help translate the cultural difference so that understanding is achieved.
So in a fit of, whatever, I can’t wait for the next post from the Gorillas Guides folks. Strange how that works.
found it… fucker pissed me off when he pulled this shit
Now, Larue, I was just bein’ snarky….
Great tunes, Larue .. had not heard Millers Cave since I believe Bobby Bare did it in the mid-60′s ..
He’s a creature created by the Senate…! How much more centrist can ya get…? Therein, I also predict nothing but crapola being sent to Obama after Jan. 2nd, 2011…! *gah*
Autumn on the west coast is a portend of what heaven could be like .. :)
HI Suz . . . good as can be . . . bless my honey.
We just sang a few songs for the time change . . . .
She don’t usually sang with me . .
It was kewl.
*G*
Freight Train and Miller’S Cave!
*G*
Bless my honey!
she sure is a honey :) please give her my regards dood
That catfood commission is getting ready to pounce, and I don’t see anyone stopping it. It sure wouldn’t be Obama; he owes too much to Rubin and Peterson. The House might stop it until next term, but then it’ll breeze through the House. I doubt that we still have 41 liberal/progressive senators who’ll filibuster it. This ain’t gonna be good. In the words of James Kirk Murphy, M.D.:
Most of anyone in touch with foreign affairs issues, and Iraq
about time for me to head out folks. thanks for letting me hang out wit’cha tonight.
g’nite and *le poof*
Ta ta, hunny!
Jane Hamsher got her 2 cents off of O’Donnell, too about Social Security: http://firedoglake.com/2010/10/05/early-morning-swim-jane-hamsher-and-lawrence-odonnell-discuss-midterms/
Goodnight, Oregonian.
Sleep well .. and all of you take care, and remember to turn back and gain an hour .. :P
Aloha, Suz…! See ya Tuesday nite, if not sooner…! *g*
nite suz
thanks so much
Is that code for something?
Oh! Daylight savings time.
Thanks.
Anybody still here?
Obama squanders his presidency sucking up to corporations — abandoning Main Street working people, pursues a governance agenda that not even he believes — that bipartisan cooperation for the good of the country is possible with political operatives like Karl Rove & the US Chamber of Commerce who are commmitted to only one thing — his complete destruction by any means necessary regardless of what it costs the nation, allows democrats to be branded as the source of Bush/Cheney’s catastrophes, deliberately flushes his potemkin majorities in congress down the toilet just in time to sacrifice social security & medicare on the altar of republican/blue dog fiscal restraint, smaller federal government and continued tax cuts for the top two percent of households.
Next week brings us Lauer’s exclusive interview whitewash of Bush’s legacy disinformation campaign. KO & Maddow are swimming in a toxic corporate media cesspool that Murrow, Cronkite, Severeid could never survive.
Murrow, Cronkite
To Kelly @248:
Most anyone in touch with foreign affairs would know how ugly it is over there . .. .
You hoss, I’d expect to know the ugly of ME affairs . . .
And that as we leave, it will turn to shit . . .
As we leave, US lives will get better.
As we leave, most of Iraqi lives will fall into civil war that we created.
And as we leave, or stay, bases and all . . . . well . . . it will be Iraqi lives dying n not US lives dyin.
Shit sucks.
*G*
I’m sure you know that.
*G*
Thank ya ma’am . . . n bless ya, heart n sould.
Thanks. I hadn’t seen that.

Yeah, I’m all “Leave. Now.” as far as Irak AND Afghanistan are concerned.
That has nothing to do with understanding the cultures, which I’m all about.
I have only one argument with any of this, and it’s provisional:
I have yet to see what he believes at core, so I cannot be convinced he is acting against his principles.
As mfi and numerous others have stated, time after time, Just leave… already… Let us sort it out…! I couldn’t agree more…!
What’s happening now in Iraq (and has been since 2003) is exactly what the State Dept. and the CIA predicted in late 1990 and early 1991 would happen if we toppled Saddam Hussein. Cheney mentioned it in 1996 and Bush41 wrote about it in 1998. And, all that “surge” shit merely delayed the inevitable. There are ancient scores to be settled there and they not yet begun to settle them.
still here, hi wmd
Too true, newt…! I won’t be caucusing for him next cycle…! 8-(
We can’t win ’cause there’s nothing to win there. And, we could buy the Iraqui oil for less money than our attempt to steal it.
So you’re saying his not a liar, just merely deluded?
The opposite.
suggests to me that he is not admiring Ronald Reagan’s perch.
I think he likes this governance agenda just fine, and if getting enough access to implement it meant proclaiming himself a Democrat, so be it.
Perhaps “psychopathic” would be the more accurate term.
He’s a one-trick pony who knows only one play: fake left and drive right.
continued:
I can only surmise this from policies and politics. I don’t think we will know his mind until he is long gone.
$1 trillion buys a lot of super unleaded.
And just think what the immediate outcome of the world’s largest polluter/consumer, our DoD, would have if we halved their budget…? To start with…? Hmmm…?
We really need to shut that damn war down. Forget the humanitarian part, we need to shut it down for strategic reasons. There’s not even a rational definition of “winning” on the table. Nobody has a clue what winning would look like.
I’ve got to crash out now. G’nite All.
nite wig, nite you guys
i’m out too
Aloha, WW… I shall join ya, Aloha Oe, Ya’ll…! ;-)
Goodnight.
night all – be well
