Comedy Central has ordered up 508 port-a-potties for its Saturday rally on the National Mall to be led by by hosts Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, suggesting organizers expect a crowd of 150,000 people.
Apparently you order one port-a-potty per 300 attendees. Which as a potential user strikes me as far too high. But still…
An estimated 87,000 people attended a rally organized by talk-radio host and Fox News commentator Glenn Beck Saturday in Washington
So comedians likely outdraw clown nearly two-to-one.
Meanwhile, how does one out-concern troll, America’s Concern Troll at his home base? Kudos to you Anne Applebaum, you truly have your finger on the pulse of America from your home in Warsaw.
And in other news, what low quality thugs is Rand Paul employing? No jackboots? You sir, are a stain upon your avocation.

Possibly they ordered extras for the “We’re not leaving ’till we’re heaving” toga contingent.
Waiting for anyone in the media to mention that Sanity is actually in the majority. Not gonna happen.
Good morning, pups. It’s [sigh] Brooks and Herbert today. Bobo’s busy ‘splaining stuff to us again. In “No Second Thoughts” he loftily opines that in spite of the polls, the Democrats are quite sure somebody else is to blame. Mr. Herbert, in “The Corrosion of America,” says the sorry state of our water systems and other infrastructure is a sad reflection of American society. Of course, if you’re going to have water mains and treatment plants you have to have taxes…
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got toasted Thomas’s English muffins with your favorite jam. I actually got out of the boat and read that Anne Applebaum thing. Lordy gordy, what crap! She is, however, being eviscerated in the comments. Have a great day.
Thanks, Marion, no doubt those polls bobo formerly tho’t real men ignored – before Pres.O. got in office – prove history didn’t actually happen either.
Probably the most infuriating line in the entire piece of dreck was where he whined that “Democrats and their enablers have paid lavish attention to the Tea Party this year…” It takes a special kind of moron to write drivel like that.
The brownshirts are not new, despite all efforts of the wingers to portray them as aroused peasants. In the Geo. Wallace campaign they drummed up swastika armbands, too.
I watched the debate last night. Conway’s not a strong debater. I don’t know why the dems aren’t saying “Here’s the repub agenda: Privatize SS, end regulating corps, gut education….”. Why aren’t we stronger?
I can’t remember who was asked but a repub candidate was asked if the FDA should be able to close down a factory where it’s known that health risks, like salmonella, are present. The repub said no. Doesn’t that say it all? Every repub should be asked that question.
Thanks Attaturk.
Good morning you pups.
Saw a few minutes of rand paul “debating” this morning. My lord what an asshole.
This;
should make any actual writer deeply, deeply ashamed to claim that profession.
According to the American Society of Civil Engineers the U.S. needs an investment of 2 TRILLION dollars just to maintain and upgrade current infrastructure. China is investing in 292 billion on high speed rail alone. The U.S.? 50 billion. Obama’s more concerned about being “civil” with the Republicans than in providing a bold vision for the future.
G’Morning oldnslow,
Does lavish attention include finger pointing and giggling? How ’bout that “Moran” sign? We got a lot of mileage out of that.
Civility on a slow train going nowhere.
My father designed highways in California back in the day, and after one of the earthquakes took me into closed-off areas to show me where his overpasses remained standing. I guess today he’d be out of a job because nobody in California seems to think taxes are worth levying for anything…
Good morning all.
Nobody? Got a link for that? *g*
How’s the CAHN this morning?
Doing OK. Some cooking & some bushhogging on the today’s docket. How about you, demi?
Whether they realize it or not, Republicans and their minions have a vision where the “people” and the “businesses” can keep their money in their own pockets and not be forced to contribute to the common good. That vision is called Somalia.
So far, the coffee’s on, fire in the place, red potatoes fryin’. I’m good.
What’s bushhogging? Oh, and after our conversation on PUAC a week ago, I bought some spinach to plant. Maybe that will go in today.
Good monring demi. The stupid is almost more than I can take this election cycle. The coverage of phsycho-chickens like Angle and Paul on the cable news outlets literally makes me gag.
It’s pretty big stupid. See you upstairs?
A bushhog is like a giant lawnmower that attaches to the power train of a farm tractor. It is a less finiky way to cut fields than the equipment used for haying.
American workers have real pride in what they have created. Today hedge fund managers like to show off the yachts, mistresses/gigolos, and politicians they own.
Ill be restoring my sanity this Saturday . . . but i wont be using any of those port o potties.
We’ll see. The photos from the air will show the tale.
The odd thing is that the only reason Stew and Col are doing this is to show they can generate as big a rally as Beck. If it falls short, whioh it likely will, they are going to have egg on their faces.
The pictures of the two will be shown side by side, so no numbers manipulations will matter. Either the crowd will be bigger, or it will be smaller.
And, if it is smaller, with all the money put into buses, etc., etc. and getting as many people as they can pay the fares of to go, it will be big egg on progressives faces.
They will need far more than 150,000 people to fill the space as much as Beck. (I’m not talking about crowd estimates, I’m just saying you need more than that to fill all the areas that were filled by the Beck crowd) So, hopefully, for their sake, they need more than 500 port a potties.
Stew and Col are taking a big chance for not much reward. The upside is small, the down side (if the crowd is anywhere similar to the one unions organized last month) is big.
You should correct your opening paragraph on the home page.
>>>This Sunday’s Stewart/Colbert gathering will almost certainly drawn nearly double what Beck’s Rally did…though they’ll be of similar body mass.<<<<
SATURDAY, not Sunday.
I see you used the lowest number you could find for the 8/28 rally!
“An estimated 87,000 people attended a rally organized by talk-radio host and Fox News commentator Glenn Beck Saturday in Washington”
With just a little will to be….. honest about this I think you could find a more accurate number! While the Steward rally may have more attending that 8/28 It will take more that 150,000 people to do that. Thou in the end neither rally will mean much after everyone goes home.
Its elections that make a difference!
I used to like bushhogging. Got me out from behind the desk. There’s a special sense of accomplishment when doing it with a refurbished 1946 IH instead of one of those fancy, expensive 3-point hitch John Oh_My_Dearie_Me things that rides so smoothly you thought you were driving the family sedan. ;)
Hey! There’s chubby liberals, too, ya’ know! :) Just ask me.
