The greatest rock opera ever written…! R.I.P. Freddy…!
What’s on your mind tonite…?
Good cut, but I prefer Weird Al’s Bohemian Polka.
Congrats and aloha, BCT…! ;-)
I don’t know that I’d call it Rock Opera, this is from a rock opera.
Love this…
First snow here today, first freeze tonight. Phooey. Rescued the last three tomatoes from the garden.
Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody is a great cut and video mind you.
*heh* Not Tommy…? ;-)
Well, CT, I’d argue there were OTHER rock opera’s for the mantle of greatest ever.
But Freddy’s was certainly one of the best.
To this day not a lot of old worn out rock gets to me . . . I’ll grant, this one is still ok, but I can’t listen to much of it, its worn out in my head . . . over, and over, and over, and over. On every station for decades . . . again, and again, and again.
Sigh.
Howdy, how’s things yer way, CT . . *G*
I prefer Quadrophenia. Tommy is certainly a rock opera, arguably the first to get wide distribution.
Ooh, Aloha…! Where is is that 4c…?
THIS Was Rock Opera, On The LP.
*G*
Aloha, M’dear…! How’s the Rust Belt…?
I love this. Thanks CT. It’s one of my favorites of all time.
Could alway’s be better, Bro, but, not too shabby…! ;-)
Thanks, CTut, this was memorable, soulful, and just downright nice to see and hear.
Quad is greatly unknown and under appreciated . . . not by me.
*G*
Oh, CT, just crappy. Jobless sucks, and even in our place, we weep.
Bohemian Rhapsody is an epic song with an operatic passage, but I don’t think it’s a rock opera.
More Freddie.
Yes, then there’s Jesus Christ,Superstar.
Aloha, Margot and Dearie…! I’m glad you’re enjoying it tonite…! *g*
A young Jay Leno introduces a rock legend and a friend.
I hear you, baby.
I’m off to bed, ‘pups.
Don’t stay up too late, except for CT and the other kaamainas.
I thought I had a GREAT opportunity as of last week.
Alas, today at 5pm I learnt I didn’t . . .
Finding work here is pure hell . . . and the process is hell, also.
Smack dab in Sacto. Ugly.
WTF, a Carly ad before the music?
My eldest is struggling in Toledo with a Master’s, in pursuit of her Doctorate…! 8-(
Caio, BCT…! Pleasant dreams…! A’hui hoa…! ;-)
yea! Thanks love.
Oh, fully agreed. LP’s had themes, and I think Meat Loaf’s example is more rock opera than Freddy’s Bohemian . . . . by far.
But like Bohemian. I can’t to hear Tommy or any excerpt from it anymore, sooooo over played.
Quad now . . . . I got ear worm room for some of that, still . . . *G*
Mine, too. Masters in American Material Culture, three years in NYC in museums.
Here’s something I listened to a lot, wish I had the album
Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, in a collection of suburbs in search of city far, far away from here, I attended gradual school for a year.
I was driving from my parent’s home to my gradual school and was listening to KFI (how long ago this was can be told from the fact that KFI was broadcasting music and traffic). They started playing the Eagles’ Hotel California, a song I was thoroughly tired of.
So I reached over to the radio and pushed a button to change stations to some other LA station that gave traffic alerts in time for the info to be reasonably useful. My radio began blaring Welcome the Hotel California…
I surrendered and switched back to KFI.
I still have an intense loathing for Hotel California.
I mean it, this time. Good night folks.
Great clip, MW…! Aloha…! ;-)
CE. What’s going on? I thought all was well with your museum work…
Never give up.
Nite BCT.
Loo Hoo,
Great for me, but in general around the USA, jobs are hard to find.
So good!
My All TIME Fav ELP. I Loved THAT BAND
Her’s is in Psychology, kept getting the ‘over-qualified’ routine, fortunately, she just passed a state exam allowing her to work in a local hospital…! ;-)
Sweet dreams, BC. I know you offer good advice, but my leanings are toward getting drunk and howling at the moon.
peace
Hate that song to this day, and a lot of what they did on pop radio that was overplayed.
On the other hand, at times The Eagles had the best songs and harmonies of the day. A lot of it never made the radio, that of theirs that did, was quickly boring.
Yeah . . . . I kno . . .
I keep that ready when ever I’m feeling pessimistic or that the job search is futile.
I’m getting an offer this week. I can feel it. then I’ll get a loan from family and save my house.
It’s interesting that some are just dog-tired of certain songs. I was so busy raising kids in the 1970s that I missed some fine, fine music. I never get tired of hearing We Are The Champions or Bohemian Rhapsody….and lots of others. Still love disco, too….. I guess it just passed me by while I was wiping up spit and changing diapers, so I’m just glad to get to it now. :)~
Aloha, Sweetie…! How’s things in SoCal…? ;-)
Totally off topic music wise, but just a touch of mid 60′s genius and talent from a band no one really knows about.
I Been Wrong Before.
HP Lovecraft, no Chutulu . . . ;-)
Thank goodness. And for MsCE, too!
Fingers and toes crossed for ya, wmd…! *g*
That pretty much nails it. You had to be unplugged not to be burnt out on any pop from that period.
*G*
KFI is really a weird station now. In the AM they have a decent guy, Bill someone, then they go to Rush. Then they go to Jon and Ken, a right wing duo who (for whatever reason) hate Meg Whitman. Apparently she didn’t hate Mexicans enough. Or she did hate mexicans enough during the primary, then totally realized she couldn’t win hating Mexicans in the general and changed her mind.
It’s all a strange thing. But if Jon and Ken had loved Whitman, she may well have been far closer to a contender. Sin was that she hated mexicans in the primary, then changed her mind in the general.
evening, firegods … CT
Gotta go Pups, thanks CT for the tunage and all Pups for more tunes and chattage.
Best to all . . . . hug ‘em close.
I know this sounds impossible tonight…but,..there’s worse things than loosing your property. I know it sounds harsh.
My thoughts are with you and yours.
Let it be so.
I know that too. I’m concerned more for my cat and chickens than for myself.
Hey!
Aloha, PPD and Larue…! Love the versatility of ‘aloha’…! We definitely need more of it, eh…? ;-)
I missed them too. I didn’t discover Queen until this song was in some movie my older son was watching, in 1992.
*heh* That must be ‘Wayne’s World’…! ;-)
CT — is this clip from Queen’s Toronto 1970′s concert film?
hiya CE
I never could figure how the sorry bands figured in with the great ones during my youth. Three Dog Night and the Eagles both made me ill.
We have always managed to find another home to take our animals with us. Sometimes letting go of the way you thought your life pattern was defined is freeing in a Major Anxiety kind of way.
It’s a slippery slope we’re sliding on.
Hey, CTuttle. Still damp enough to save me$$$ on the water bill! It’s turning green and beautiful.
Hey, just plugged my laptop into the plug.
This one even…! ;-)
I totally agree. The best of the Eagles never made the radio. Plus, they had too many transformations.
They put out a few classics, which is more than most. “Hotel Cal” not being one of them, except in a creepy way.
Agreed. Owning the home is so less worthwhile than it was a while back… Home ownership was considered the BEST investment for a long old time, and things have just plain changed.
Sorry, I pick Tommy.
Funny you should mention Three Dog Night, they’re due to play here on the Big Isle, without Chuck Negron… Ain’t the same…! *sigh*
I hear ya.
I also see my skills as needed still. I’m getting a lot of interest lately close to home.
Relocating after losing home … I think I’d get work fairly quickly unless I would need a security clearance, then the foreclosure would be problematic.
Hey, TG…! Aloha…! How’s tricks…? ;-)
Tommy was my first concert. I also love Jesus Christ, Superstar as an atheist. It hits a similar vein. Except, my vein doesn’t connect to religion, just spirituality. So I’m probably more lenient with the images. Cuz, I’m clueless. :]
It’s for you
A lot of home price depreciation will be eliminated when inflation finally takes hold. In fact there are probably many rich Mofo’s buying short sales/foreclosures that will be becoming much richer on paper a few years from now.
Gotta be Tommy.
Put in your earplugs, put on your eyeshades, and you know where to put the cork.
I believe it was Montreal, on that particular clip…!
Montreal — this concert was on PBS recently
Daily show is coming from Washington DC this week.
Oh I agree. Problem for the banks is that they have to pay property taxes and maintain the foreclosures.
If you’re in the clusterfuck foreclosure you can probably stay where you are for a long while.
Keep on pluggin’, CE
My Freddie clip was from Montreal too.
Sale is supposed to be November 12. I don’t have much time.
that was it!
Night all. I can lean towards gettin’ drunk and howlin at the moon. It is a beautiful moon.
But, no, tonight is not the night.
Sweet dreams.
hiya margot
nite openhope
hi PPD, good to see you.
I’m ready for sleep soon myself. Mofo snakes in mofo muslim garb on a mofo plane!
Good night all.
*heh* Pleasant dreams, openhope…! ;-)
Aloha, wmd…! Best of luck…! *g*
Getting close to 100 … Larry Wilmore and Aasif Manvi were really funny tonight.
So, CTuttle, what’s cookin’ in paradise on this lovely evening?
time for some sleep – night all
My best friend and her honey are off to DC to attend the Sanity event…..I’ll be looking for them on the teevee.
nite PPD.
Made some southern fried wingettes, with mashed spuds, and steamed zucchini…! ;-)
I will admit that Hotel California was waaaaay overplayed, but OTOH, for me it brings back a great memory of driving solo across the desert in the summer of ’76 in the early evening… a great time to be a college kid on my way to the future.
Now, overplayed in the 70s? Rikki don’t lose that number. Makes me want to scream.
Howz the Pups tonight?
Sounds good.
Aloha, Jo Fish, and congrats on the century mark…! I agree that Hotel Cali was overplayed by lazy DJ’s, that and ‘Stairway to Heaven’…! ;-)
And sometimes Desperado…..and yet sometimes Desperado brings up memories that just resonate, so it’s all good.
Now, Free Bird is a whole ‘nother story…! ;-)
And BeeGees are always good to exercise to. Happy sounds.
G’nite Tut.
When I was offered this gig I was told Abba was off limits…! Fer shame, eh…? ;-)
Sleep tight, Dearie…! ;-)
Stairway to Heaven, a more cringe-worthy song has never been made (ok, maybe there are a few, but none got played at high school dances as often).
Saturday Night Fever has been on cable recently, too much disco but then who didn’t want to be Tony Manero on Saturday nights in the late 70s? LOL!
hahaha
CT, they were just lookin out for you, you know that.:)
You know it…! ;-)
I’m always a sucker for Southern Rock…! Something about being born north of the border, I guess…! The eldest is named after this song specifically…! ;-)
Well, yes, R.I.P. Freddy.
But I will call your Bohemian Rhapsody with A Quick One
*heh* Everybody keeps referring to the Who as the counter to Queen…! Btw, I love your nom de plume…! Does that mean you’re not practicing…? ;-)
nite WMD1961.I want you to know that ever night I see you name I hope that tonight is the night you tell use you got a job. I root for you each and ever night.
*aargh* Beautiful Day…
Aloha, spocko…! You and I both…! 8-)
today I was thinking a lot about people who lie in the media. How easy it for them to be chronic liars. The lies by the people on the the right wing media, when I see them and think about correcting them, exhaust me.
I was reading a post from a right wing radio host who was crowing about how they ‘wikileaks proved that she was right about WMDs in Iraq.” then you read the story that she is talking about and it saying doesn’t say anything like that. Just like she ‘interpreted” 200-300 people at an event as 5,000. (I have photo graphic proof she lies”. I also have evidence that her station lost multiple advertisers when she said, “only one.” Known. Cronic. Liar.
But why do I care?
aloha CT & Pups! Just a drive-by hi on my way to bed after getting home from work *waves*
Aloha, sweetie…! Always a pleasure to see ya…! *g*
I’ve yet to see one credible Reichtard prove that they knew what they were talking about…! ;-)
Well, much mahalo for ya’ll’s company tonite, I shall bid ya’ll a fond adieu for the evening…! Aloha Oe…! *g*
