Good Morning, eCAHN
How people see the Other sure says a lot about how they feel about themselves, I think. And, also how much they buy into what others say, instead of actually thinking for themselves?

OT – Anyone hear that Obama is going to be on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart this Wednesday? I have to say that I find this in really poor taste. He has ignored calls for the past two years from the young people who voted for him because they thought he was the second coming, but he has let them (as well as everyone else) down.

Now he wants to show what a caring man of the people he is?

He can go screw himself. I’m shocked Mr. Stewart let him on the program. I hope (but I know will be disappointed) that he doesn’t throw him just a ton of softballs.

Good morning demi.

Troll cregan (or whatever his/her screen name is) dropped a stink bomb into one of the comments section yesterday. I was thinking about using your line as a put down, but restrained myself. That was the right thing to do as everyone ignored it and s/he disappeared without further ado.

Mostly I agree. However, sometimes Stewart pulls a good one on his guest, so we can still hope (TM).

It sounds like you showed great restraint. With the new short time “on edit”, and also the feature on the “friends” page that makes it very easy to view everyone’s activities, including everything we comment, I might just have to be more circumspect around here.

Has Assange ever explained why he waited until Saturday (UK time) to release this stuff? I mean he picked the worst time in the news cycle for this stuff to be released. Perhaps he was doing that to stop the Pentagon from getting ahead of the story, but I think he lost a lot of his thunder with the timing of the release.

You know how it is, the collective memory of the country is purged on Friday evening and only select gems get to hold over to the following week. That is of course unless it involved bigotry or Republican/Teabagger wrongdoing.

I have to say that one of the possible unintended outcomes of the leak is that the U.S. military will stop keeping records in the future.

I’ve not seen anything like that. However, we have no idea what goes on backstage at leaks, so I wouldn’t be too judgmental until we know more. What Assange is trying to do is difficult enough.

Rubio should drive though AZ and see how he is treated its about race not legal status.
Notice Rubio never mentions going after CEO’s who hire illegals.
I think all CEO’s, board of directors top 5% of company executives should spend a year in prison for every illegal they hire.
Why because they get bonuses for performance so they should get the Smack when they don’t perform.
Lets see the GOP run against us on immigration if we make our stand here.

Where were all of these people who are defending Williams when Helen Thomas got fired? Oh, I remember, they were cheering. Does anybody really think Williams would still have a job at FOX if he said that Jewish people on airplanes frighten him? Anger is an expression of insecurity, just like fear and conservatism. While conservatives like to go around sabre rattling, the truth is they are the biggest cowards on the planet.

There’s a diff between what a soldier is supposed to do, and what actually happens, esp in ‘fog of war.’ Individual soldiers are subject to scapegoating & would be foolish if they didn’t keep stuff off the record.

In my mind there’s a big difference between an isolated incident and a pattern of behavior. I’ve never done time in the military, but have to imagine that in the heat of the moment actions that would normally shock someone might seem like a good and prudent thing to do. I tend to think that on a battlefield some laws and regulations become more like guidelines and preferred practices.

For that reason you’d hate to make it too easy for over-zealous prosecutors to drag a lot of what happens into court. It’s hard to forget things that are put down on paper. It also has to be difficult for commanders to keep a grip on where to draw lines. I guess that’s why they’re paid the big bucks. /s
