What’s on your mind tonite…?
HIwymen!
Or, Hiwaymen. Or, . . . lol
Still blowin n rainin?

Hey, Suz, have your thunderstorms quieted down?
Whoops! Hah! Wrong Host(ess)!
How’s da islands, mon!
Love the vid . . . . love the song and the artists!
And, CTut, how’s Paradise?
Mahalo, Suz…! Aloha too!
Congrats, Larue…! ;-)
Suz, still blowin n rainin up there? We’re clearing out and drying up.
More on Thursday!
*G*
Hey CT…how are ya?
Some Hank doin it his way!
for the most part… still have bands of heavy rain and sorta hail occasionally coming through — not as wild as earlier today
Not too shabby, some evening rain is falling to cool us off…! How’s the weather in your neck of the woods…! ;-)
South Central Coast of CA has had rain and rain and rain…….completely unlike our usual weather. Would be great for growing things except that we’ve had so much fog all summer/early fall that nothing would grow anyway. People who bought cell panels got punked, as it were.
Suz…
visited your site…just love the pics of you and your girls…and because my fonts have not been around here lately…HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY SUZANNE!
g’evening CT & Pups!
i’m a worn out granny … the g-unit and I made, baked, and frosted/decorated sugar cookies for Halloween. Cookie cutters are a PITA to wash. The kitchen’s still full of sugar, frosting, flour and decorator sprinkles. But so worth it!
jr has his own traditional way
aw thanks ed — best birthday ever!
I’d seriously considered that maybe it was time to do some growing in my small yard…..you know, a bit of lettuce and such. Anything I might have planted would have mildewed….totally! Climate change deniers are anathema.
Great Hank Sr…! ;-)
This is my fave Cash tune…!
CT rainin here in raiatea also, day wuz decent but the nite came on and the showers are working their way thru
On the other hand, my Montana girl may get some better weather in the future. It’s all up for grabs, for sure.
Evening, CT
How is it?
More Hank, My Fav 3rd’s Song, Bless His Daddy N Granddaddy.
Aloha, M’dear…! Congrats on your Cheesehead victory over the Geezer and the Vikes…! ;-)
I am sure…and the baby bump on Jen is also something to celebrate as well…good health and good vibes all around…
Talofa…! ;-)
Evening all, OK, that is a total weak spot for me. I had a friend who was a closet (to me) Martha Stewart fan. She got me on to the royal icing gig, and I never looked back. Love love love to make cookies and ice them.
Years back, I was volunteering in a 2nd grade class to help with reading. For Valentine’s Day, I baked cookies for all the kids and then took bags of icing and all kinds of junk to put on the cookies. OMG. It was one of the most fun things ever! They layered on the googas like nobody’s business. Hilarious.
Pure talent through and through…bless them all!
Grandchildren and making cookies is akin to peanut butter and jelly…naturally go together :-)
You’re giving Suz a taste (ha!) of what’s to come.
My fave Bocephus…!
I made a call to Orygun today and to my favorite Camera Store in the whole world, Orygun does not have any sales tax and as such, when you buy sumpin fairly decent you skate and as I am here in French Poly, our import tax is 16 percent on certain things but not sure on the cameras… I am looking at a D300s or possibly D700 or D750 the store told me to wait a couple of months and the D400 is expected out and also the D750… My D200 is gettin a little long in the tooth Now if only I had a friend or family member that wuz headed this way on vacation……
hehehehe i’m sure looking forward to spoiling the wee one. jen finds out on 11/18 if baby apple has a stem or not — i’m hoping for a girl but her sister in law swears up and down its a boy…
Good for you! Cooking was one of the things I used to love to do with the kids on Fridays. So much math, language/vocab, basic skills and fun! All wiped out with NCLB.
Great tune . . . maybe his fav of mine now that I think about it.
Havent heard it in a long time, thanks!
CT, are you familiar with T. Texas Tyler??? I know that this was way, way before your time, but he had a song in the early 40′s called Remember Me that my dad used to sing all the time…. I still love it an listen to it often
I “did” grandbaby twin boys this weekend, too, and am still reeling from their wonderfulness. Their giggles are infectious. They have fine senses of humor…..if pretending to drop their spoon off their high chairs is something one can relate to…..and I can! We’ll probably regret it later, but for now it is hysterical! Marco pushes his spoon to the edge of the tray and looks up from under his lashes with a sly smile and then slides the spoon off. Leo holds his spoon up and acts like it is slippery and then drops it. And then they laugh hysterically….. and we do, too. It is waaaay more fun to be a grandmother!
*heh* I’ve never seen it put that way before…! ;-)
Did ya do the needle and thread test yet???
Remember Me.
That’s just the beginning…finding their boundaries and yours…it gets so way better and challenging! Believe me…makes everyday worth smilin for…
she finds out from her doc on 11/18 — we’ve not done anything other than try to provoke baby apple to kick harder…
Another time I took the Art Truck from the Children’s Museum to an elementary school where my project was for all the kids to make crowns. Another totally great activity. I had a few crown templates they could pick from.
At this particular school there were a lot of Vietnamese immigrants. They loved them some of the tiniest little itty bitty flowers and such that were printed on wall paper that had been donated to the truck. They cut out those flowers to put on their crowns, and then GLITTER. Cannot get enough of that.
Then they all put on their crowns and stood in front of a mirror in the classroom. Kings and Queens, to die for. The best part of the day was when they ran out to the buses with their crowns, sooooooooooo excited.
That definitely was before my time… Hank Sr., Marty Robbins and Patsy Cline is about as far back as I go…! ;-)
And when I get all outraged about the current political swamp it is because I want my grandbabies to have a chance to know the America that I grew up in. I’d hoped we could erase the Bush era and get back to something rational. Now I’m not so sure.
busted left a similar comment over at my place earlier this week. i read it, busted out laughing, and went ‘duh — why didn’t i think of that’.
of course, thur jen gets a new size descriptor and baby apple goes the way of baby lemon, baby grape, etc.
Try the thread and needle test if you care to…it would be interesting to see if it is as true a predictor as the docs sure are! Old timey stuff…but fun.
Fun! It’s criminal what you can get a kid to do for a sequin!
Well, you made your own hell to pay with that spoon business. And TWO of them. Hell. To. Pay. I know, you are laughing now. . .
Crazy…!
Hello CT!
Here’s some pretty music.
Keep the faith and teach them well when you can…I have 3 grands and one of them is gonna have her own child this March…making me a great-grand pop pop…blows my ole hippy mind!
What’s the needle and thread test, Dearie?
Good evenin’!
Had 1.1″ rain at 7:30 this morning, another 1.1″ just as of 20 minutes ago, most of it in less than an hour.
Congrats!!!
Drowning…
Nice! LooHoo…
That was something my mom used to make for a friend and me, an aluminum foil “crown” bent over some cardboard. We colored the jewels with crayon and were so happy.
How about this Johnny Cash! by a very young and lanky Johnny!
Aloha, Pel…! How’s Nevada tonite…? ;-)
*dons cheesehead and does happy dance*
When they put on their crowns, they were Transformed. It was a kind of “power” none of them had ever experienced. It was really beautiful to see.
Aloha, Starbuck…! That’s a lot of rain in a short amount of time…!
my mom always did the royal icing, they just don’t taste right to me unless it’s royal icing. And i have every color of sugar, shapes, dots, the works! Kids are enthralled with edible artwork. And each cookie is a work of art!
Both the early morning rain and this evening was in a relatively short span of time.
Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood getting 15″ of snow in this storm. There goes summer hiking!
Bgrothus, oh, I so know that we are walking a fine line, but the funny thing is that it is clear that they know this spoon drop is a joke! I didn’t remember that 2 year olds could actually understand what joking was……though my own three were entirely clever and humorous. To watch two little guys set up the joke and then laugh uproariously is just stupendous! It gives me hope, actually. But naivete has always been one of my more endearing qualities.
At a few bluegrass festivals that song is a camp staple for some folks.
Had NO idea it was that song till I clicked in to your linky!
WQos, how kewl! Versions done are smoother and a tad slower, lots of harmonies.
How kewl, nice find LH!
Thanks Loo Hoo, and Ct run up the page and bookmark the link that Loo Hoo Posted, think you will have found an super song for your stash. Bein older than dirt gives me an advantage when it comes to country… I remember the Joe Mephis show on TV back in the early 50′s in fact Fri and Sat nites were shit kicken nites around the navy we used to sit in our shop and watch the tube. Back in those days I only made 64 dollars a month
Take thread and needle…thread through needle, long enough to hold over a hand or belly…about 12 inches long of thread…hold over expecting Mom’s hand or belly in a place where there is no wind or drafts.
Hold thread and dangling needle steady. After a short while if thread and needle move in a crossing pattern like North to South or left to right, whatever…then it indicates a boy child…if it starts to go round in a circle…then it indicates a girl child…
A friend of mine makes beautiful corsets. She had a show of them one time, and another friend made a cookie cutter shaped like a corset. We made corset cookies for the opening. Those were a lot of fun to decorate too. We made good use of teh black food coloring on those for sure.
Hi Pellora, that’s a great one!
Pendulum forecasting, I take it.
Rainy! Adding to the all time record for October! Windy! Which is common.
Guessing that we’re all the way up to 2.65 inches of rain this month! Most ever.
Keep in mind that Nevada averages 7 inches of precipitation a year…
Try this one CT…some Charlie!
We all love to laugh.
I thought corsets were shaped like cookie cutters!
That’s the essence of it Starbuck…
Pel!!!!
*G*
Favre n Vikes lost?
SIgh.
Glad I don’t have to get into one of those…
Mos def, they are shaped!
Hello Larue!!!!
Do you remember the tv show in the early 70s with Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner?
I loved her singing and doing the commercials: “And in every box of detergent is a dish towel!”
i sent an email to jen with the directions and asked her if she’s done it yet…
Change that to REALLY windy! ugh. Probably be some tree pruning. Hope none of my trees… And I heard there was some street flooding too today. sigh.
Loo, long time ago I got really ripped with Willie, what a hell of a great man he is… I am amazed just how well his voice has continued to be even at his age…
Early Morning Rain…! ;-)
Pups I got an early morning so I gots to go . . . thanks for the tunage and chattage one and Every Pup!
GO GIANTS! SF GI!
I was in Manzanita last weekend. Had it in mind to give you a call but had to get right back to PDX Sunday evening.
I hope you aren’t washed out, Suz. The beach is having some big water, I hear.
Lat weekend was magnificent! Saturday, I could see from south to north along the ocean with zero change in the blue sky. Stunning!
I still can recall the taste of the frosted gingerbread cookies Little Momma made and hung on the Christmas tree. We had to ask permission to eat one. I also recall the year when I was very young that she made fruit cake, dark. I have never had fruit cake that can compare. It was fantastic. Last year, I found her recipe from way back, and I would love to try it. I have made fruit cake, but none that compared to what I remember as a child.
Just tell her it be best if someone else did it for her, although they say you can do a self-test…not sure if that is as reliable…but again this is not high science, but definitely some wisdom from the past…
*heh* Anxious to know, eh…? ;-)
i’ll never smoke weed with willie again
G’nite Larue…thanks for the chat and the Sunday recipes dood…Peace!

Hrrmmm… When I replied to Larue, which disappeared, but, when it refreshed it said no comments…! I had to do a hard refresh…! Still some glitches…! ;-)
sounds like ya had a partial page load… a hard refresh will resolve that.
No Margot, I was in Hawaii and doing a evening radio show for the first 6 years of the 70′s then I moved here. When I was in Hawaii I was on the only Hawaiian Music Station in the country at the time… Loved it…. Still do
Going off to bed folks.
