On his radio-show — as opposed to his George Soros-centric televised one (he’s both liberal and [whispers] Jewish, unlike those nice Koch brothers)– Glenn Beck went for the erroneous and passé* (I know, it’s so unlike him):
“I don’t think we came from monkeys. I think that’s ridiculous. I haven’t seen a half-monkey, half-person yet.”
For those of you keeping score about Beck; that’s decoding mysterious gold tablets with your magic hat, Native Americans as lost tribe of Israel, and Jesus’ farewell tour of North America all totally true — but evolution totally false.
But really, no half-human half-monkees ever seen?
Truly the greatest dance sequence since this.
*and also truly the oldest of tropes, humans and other primates share a common ancestry — just like Glenn Beck and Juan Williams now share a common benefactor, Australopithecus Rupertus.

About Firedoglake
Beck must 1/ look in the mirror and 2/ look at these
At Nice Polite Republicans the song remains the same.
Every now and again even a blind pig…
Glenn seems to be getting a lot of his material from Alex Jones and the John Birch Society. Not exactly plagiarism, but a sort of right-wing osmosis.
That’s a pretty heady brew. Soon, Glenn wil be saying the ruling elite worship Moloch and can live forever (Alex), or that Dwight Eisenhower was a paid agent of the communist conspiracy (the Birchers).
Headed for Nirvana
Good morning, pups. It’s Collins and Kristof today. Ms. Collins, in “The Fury Failure,” says this election season, anger has not been working out for voters and candidates alike. Mr. Kristof is in Kabul. In “Dr. Greg and Afghanistan” he says we need a new strategy in Afghanistan. We might seek help from “Dr. Greg,” who runs around Afghanistan building schools.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got banana pancakes for breakfast. For some reason I’m having trouble prying my eyelids open this morning, so I’m going to go and see if a second cup of tea will do the trick. Have a great day.
Good morning all.
I think it’s not the external physical appearance that is confusing Beck. I think that the human-ape similarity is what’s inside wingnuts craniums. (Don’t mean to denigrate apes.)
Thanks for the reminder. I’d forgotten about those.
How’re your bee girls doing? Cold weather means they don’t come out of the hive so much these days.
Here’s a surprise. Not.
Put my real WI maple syrup on my oatmeal/raisin/cinnamon this morning, but would be happy to share some with you for those cakes.
As long as NPR is in the terminator mode, don’t stop with Juan. The ever esoteric Brooks should certainly be in the running for a pink slip, except, possibly, for the entertainment value he regularly provides.
Thanks for your links and comments as always.
Don’t forget to add the odious Cokie Roberts to that list…
The girls are living on their stored goodies and sugar water. It is cold as bejazus here at night, lower 30°, and not so warm, mid 50°, during the day. We have been discussing about ways to protect them from the Nor’easters coming in from the ocean. I think I will have to build some kind of protective wind barrier. On the other hand we harvested the last of our sweet green peppers last night from the greenhouse.
A “successful” prosecution of Xe would mean that testimony putting most of the (previous?) administration behind bars would be forthcoming…not going to happen.
And that dreadful woman on Sunday mornings.
And Joe Miller was definitely attacked by those ‘pointed,’ questions over the weekend. His BG’s needed to react in his defense and I’m really surprised they didn’t resort to using a taser in subduing that overly inquisitive reporter.
I haven’t checked recently but I read several months back that Xe was establishing a base in Illinois. Easier to deploy them here when needed, I guess.
Hasn’t quite gotten below freezing at night here & generally 60s during the day, so my girls get out a bit. Not much in the way of flowers left, but they seem to be finding a few. Both hives have enough stored honey to get thru the winter, and I may get a bit more for me from the big hive. When originally siting the hive, Chris wanted to put it in my back yard, and then mentioned that one criterion was it shouldn’t be in a windy spot. I told him that would not be my back yard, so we put it in the side yard which is a bit sheltered from the prevailing winds by trees. My friends who got me into the beekeeping hobby are a year ahead of me, but haven’t had enough honey to harvest yet, while I got 13 jars this year. I think a major difference might be that their hive location might be windier. The guy who delivered my new trees last spring told me that where there’s a view, there are winds. My friends have a fabulous view of the cliffs, and the winds come down off of it.
Hoping you get the wind issue satisfactorily resolved.
Oh, nomolos, have you protected your hive from mice? Chris closes off all but about an inch of the entrance with a piece of wood, and then places a screen, just big enough for a bee to get thru, over the remaining opening.
I promise this is the last time I’ll bring this to FDL but the conservative, Gannett owned Green Bay Press Gazette endorsed Feingold yesterday. The best blogger I’ve seen with the details is former Madison, WI mayor, Paul Soglin.
Good news. Wonder if it’s representative of some people coming to their senses.
I might have to go outside & finish off a few tasks. Managed to get myself out of bed an hour earlier this morning, which means my sleep has caught up with my physical exertions.
Be well.
Ah hah, thank you for the advice. I will get to it this weekend.
and Mara Liasson. It’s a long list.
Just think Glenn needs to spend a little more time with Christine….as she has evidence of a rabbit or a mouse or some animal with a fully functional human brain. Dump that Sarah woman and take up with Christine….she lives closer and her voice is less harsh.
And the Dallas Morning News goes for White: 1st non-Repub in forever…
And I am sure NPR does not need Angela Seabrook who always seems to think SHE is the news.
Believe it or not there are more than a few people around here who don’t watch the Packers and don’t care WTF Brett is up to today.
Sorry for not responding earlier, hoping everyone has something nice happen for them today. Peace
I voted for him, back in the day, used to still have a campaign button somewhere, but maybe gone now.
Good luck to Feingold, I have friends knocking on doors for him.
Well, Glenn hasn’t evolved into anything approaching humanity,so nothing he says surprises me.
Beckerhead’ll say anything if he thinks he’ll grift some buck$ for saying it. Just saying…
We did not evolve from monkeys, we evolved from a common ancestor.
Humans evolved into Humans and monkeys evolved into monkeys.
There is no reason to expect a half-monkey, half-person, this just shows ignorance (intentional?) on the subject.
His whole argument boils down to:
My brother and I could not have the same mother because his great-grand children do not look like mine.
Glen…..I’ve seen u on tv and trust me I wondered if u had or for that matter ever would evolve past a monkey. Sorry monkey’s……
Beck seems to think that evolution occurs across groups living today or something. That’s the only way one could expect to SEE a half-monkey/half-human.
Was the guy home-schooled? Maybe he missed a lot of his basic biology class smoking pot, hanging out with DJ’s, or sitting in the Vice-Principal’s office for acting out/up after his mothers suicide.
All evidence (genetic, embryological, anatomical, behavioral, and the fossil record) supports a common ancestry with the African great apes. Evolution means change and there’s an excellent fossil record demonstrating every transition of form between species and groups from that common ancestor to modern humans. If Beck wants to see the transitions (and there a whole series of them) all he has to do is visit a few museums (or as an alternative pick up a decent Introductory Biological Anthropology text) – The Smithsonian and the American Museum of Natural History have great displays explaining our evolution.
