Back Door Slam — Come Home, live at the Gaiety Theatre, Isle of Man, June 9, 2007.
What’s on your mind?
Zederoonie!
Feeling any better, Suz?
Well Fitz anyway.
congrats loohoo! how’s socal tonight?
hiya Suzzz, firegods
felt better this afternoon and started cleaning the kitchen. now i’m back to feeling ucky again. but i do think (and hope) that last night was the worst of it.
Hi Suz and Mauimom. Still drizzly here, but looks like sunny skies tomorrow. How’s the Oregon Coast?
hey mauimom — how’s your island tonight?
Suz! Cool stuff
hey ppd — how’s the south south bay tonight?
storm door opens tomorrow — rain forecast thur nite/fri and then another storm sat/sun. forecast is for up to 5″ of rain and strong winds
I always start cleaning when I don’t feel well too. I wonder why? Are we germ obsessed when we’re sick?
hey newton — thanks dood. how’s the west bay?
i start to clean when i start to feel better – guilt from letting it sit…
cooling off with fog rolling in
batten the hatches, girlscout!
cooled off some more. soon we will be all the way down to a frigid 55.
Green comet visible this week.
am waiting for the wind strength forecast to figure out what pots to bring in off the deck….i’ve had stuff blown clear across the deck before, including chairs.
Ha! Still haven’t turned the heat on here. It’s wonderful, no electric bills and no water bills for a while!
i featured back door slam once before back in 2008. was sad to read in their wiki (click on their name in the post) to learn they had disbanded
g’evening, Pups! Suze, sorry to hear you were not feeling well.
I’m taking two vacation
daysnights! *happy dance*hey ndfg — woohoo *snoopy happy dance*
tis a bug i’ve been fighting since late mon nite… probably would be all better now if i had surrendered and not fought…
Good for you, NDFG! Any big plans?
Got notice of sheriff’s sale today.
I think I’ll be able to stop it.
And in good news: another on site interview next week, makes four different potential employers in one month. I’ll be working soon. Which has to happen if I’m going to keep this house.
FUCK… i hope you are able to stop it, wmd….
you sure could use a job offer right NOW
vacation
I’m doing everything I can.
Sure wish I had an offer back in April – they had me give information for third party background check for job I interviewed for then. I ended up bailing out someone else in that group at a conference when audience member asked him about their software…
‘Death, the only immortal, who treats us alike, whose peace and refuge are for all. The soiled and the pure, the rich and the poor, the loved and the unloved’__MARK TWAIN 1835 – 1910
is your lender one of the ones that has frozen foreclosures? am trying to remember who is.. i think bofa is one…
hey robert – how ya doing tonight?
GMAC. Jerry Brown sent them a Cease and Desist letter.
Tippy Toeing
sigh … it’s a hard lesson to learn, & i’m a fine one to talk!
do ya think his ag office could help?
no, just trying to get some outside chores done before it gets really cold. I have to caulk some windows, plant some bulbs and a lingonberry, flush the downspouts, and maybe paint the hallway. Aren’t i a grrrlll who knows how to have fun!
that is so not what i thought it was going to be…. i was thinking tiny tim
keeping my fingers crossed for ya … i went thru three years of excruciating underemployment before i found the job i’m at, it was pretty discouraging at times so you have my sympathy.
mon night i was in bed by 10:30!!! unheard of. i shudda figured it out and just stayed in bed but nooooo, i was doing my gotta does tues when it decided to really get my attention.
I’m going to talk with an attorney tomorrow. May call the AG’s office first.
whew — am so glad to hear you are talking with an attorney
November 12 is date for sale … gives me a little time to get things fixed.
i hope the attorney can get that delayed and postponed and then delayed again — and that you get a rock solid job offer
*hands on monitor*
Sounds like no fun, but peace of mind for the winter cold. It does feel good to get stuff done.
Today I was able to find home improvement receipts for the house I’m living in (which Goldman-Sachs-via Litton Loans) will have soon if they don’t want to make me an offer. My tax guy told me to get receipts together because the difference between what I owe and what they’ll sell it for is considered capital gains. Didn’t think I’d kept any receipts, but I was able to find some key ones. Peace of mind!
weather dood said its not going to be too windy until sunday – plenty of time to get the deck ready — still no wind speed forecast — too early to predict
Oh, boy, wmd. That’s right quick. Do you have boxes and a storage unit just in case?
I’ve had two broken umbrellas and chairs in the pool because of high winds. Closed umbrellas! We don’t get winds often, but man, when they come, they come! Better safe than sorry.
What I’ve learned from FDL’s mighty league of mortgage fraud explainers:
Why would the banksters rather foreclose (appearing to bite their own asses) and not have millions of empty and severely depreciated houses on their books, rather than limit losses by working with the homeowners?
Answer: Because the banksters sold each mortgage to as many as 20 different investors (Ex: lending $100,000, then selling X 20 investors the $100,000 mortgage)resulting in their need to do massive foreclosures in order to legally default on paying back investors=a pyramid scheme a billion times bigger than the known universe.
I’m making contingency plans.
last winter, one of the adirondack chairs on the deck blew clear across the deck and broke a very heavy ceramic pot i had in the far corner.
when i’ve got a forecast that its really gonna blow, i’ll have the hired girls haul in the heavy stuff like last year.
And now to sleep.
Good night all.
g’nite wmd
I had a gal call me from the bank on a Sunday morning. Imagine! Asked why they would rather spend the money for the real estate co, the auctioneer, all the legal fees, etc. to foreclose on me, only to sell it for so much less than what I owe. Why not just reduce the principal and the interest rate? She said they had a plan for that, but I’ve heard nothing. Oh, well.
Good for you. That can be dangerous if it’s near sliding glass doors or windows.
Nite wmd, hoping everything works out very well for you.
Hi Suz and everyone!
the windows facing the deck are high enough that the potted plants can’t get them…. and they have plastic instead of glass. no sliders in this 100+ year old house
hey margot — how’s ohio tonight?
Robert Rubin’s favor movie was The Producers — finally the truth bubbles to the surface.
evening, margot
Lordy. A 20 year old girl becomes a police chief in Mexico. Nobody else will take the job.
looks like maybe 60+ wind gusts sat nite…. i’ll have to see if i can find the perfect cartoon for sat nite to accompany scary winds :)
Perhaps it is that as long as they hold it without a sale, they do not have to recognize the loss on their books. Mark to myth is mo better than mark to market.
judas priest….
hey fuckno — how ya doing tonight?
Hi PPD
Suz, it was a perfect fall day here. Actual sunshine.
sweet! was pretty here today too — love the crispness in the air
hey Suz!
The banksters owe many, many times the principle and cost of each mortgage to investors (like pension funds) and would have to pay if they did not foreclose. Foreclosures mean the investors take all the losses, not the banks.
It is racketeering on a massive scale, with the most likely outcome of a global depression like nothing this world has ever seen.
In my opinion, the only governmental solution is to finally arrest all these racketeers and declare all mortgage debt null and void.
What is not being addressed is the student loan disaster already rising from the putrid Wall Street waters. Those loans were sliced and diced and sold the same way….
OMG — vanilla ice has a house flipping show on HGTV
night all – be well
That’s what my lawyer says. They’d rather keep it on the black side of the ledger…
Getting very close to San Diego. Hope 19 passes.
g’nite ppd
We’re in an alternative universe. I’m in a much better spot than most victims of this crime. I own a rental I can move into. My heart really goes out to those without an alternative. Criminal behavior on the part of the banks. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
me too — and 74 here in oregon — that one permits non-profits to run dispensaries that are state licenses and regulated similar to the way the liquor stores are
Aloha, Suz and LLN pups…! Soggy here, too…!
Ain’t it yuckkie?!!
aloha tut — how was your day (besides soggy)?
hey mary mac — how’s sac? its like watching a train wreck looking at him but… the landscaping work does look nice.
Watching an old movie from the seventies, one he hadn’t seen since he had attended the premier in 1976, he leaned forward when the once famous young star entered the cabin. The theme music whispered while he walked over to and gently pushed open another door. The never famous young actress rushed, naked, and pulled him into the bedroom set, wrapped her beautiful body around him and planted so many kisses on his face that he could only carry her blind to the bed, and the love, he had traveled a long journey home for. Beneath a blanket, they made the motions of desperate lovemaking under the observation of the director and the minimum crew modesty could permit.
“Cut! That’s a wrap!” he remembered the director drunkenly shouting. At least he thought that was the last scene before production ended.
He barely remembered the never famous young actress, certainly not her name. He had missed the first fifteen-minutes of the movie and would have to wait for the scroll of credits at the movie’s end to be reminded. What he did remember was how her eyes projected the merriment of unrestrained love for him while the cameras were rolling, and then changed instantly to indifference when the director yelled,” Cut!”
Efforts to Prosecute Blackwater Are Collapsing
“Nearly four years after the federal government began a string of investigations and criminal prosecutions against Blackwater Worldwide personnel accused of murder and other violent crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan, the cases are beginning to fall apart, burdened by a legal obstacle of the government’s own making.”

Future Headline:
Efforts to Prosecute Banksters Are Collapsing.
fuck
the beginning of another short story?
What are you talking about?
Vanilla Ice was on some show today playing his old song, Ice Ice Baby, and a new one…not quite my thing…
*heh* What I can remember of it, it was alright…! The Missus and I were doped up on Benadryl and antibiotics from a, as yet, unexplained rash…! Hopefully, the regimen will produce the desired results…! ;-)
robert writes fiction in addition to his reporting at oped news
Yup. Our mighty Justice Department can no longer provide us with justice. WTF?
oh yuck… an itchy rash? those are the worst dood…. *shrudder*
OH! Sorry, Robert.
GIANTS WIN.
Unheard of.
Bless SF for an honor towards a World Series.
Dang my hairy butt deepest desires.
*G*
i think you were in italy when robert started sharing some of his fiction with us…
hey larue — wasn’t that a hella game? how ya doing tonight?
Well some good news tonight. Did you hear that Juan Williams was fired from NPR for his comments about being afraid of Muslims on planes? He said this on Fox and that was something that was because of his support of Bill O’Reilly’s comment about “Muslims killed us on 9/11″
Yes. Premise: the acting out the lovemaking got too real for the actor and actress so deeply concentrated on their roles, fantasy invades reality; so what became an accidental rape. Theme: regret.
Another green tea and lemon cake story out of sparkling synapses of my mind.
hey mary mac — its been a while since you’ve shared some of your poetry with us
I hate Blackwater. When my brother told me weird dudes with big guns were patrolling his neighborhood in pirogues a few days after New Orleans flooded I sensed things there would never be the same. It turned out to be BW.
hey spocko — how ya doing tonight? i heard and i smiled a big smile…
well it is about damn time. Thanks for sharing this news, spocko!
Doin fine ma’am.
Best to you and yer outdoor plants.
*G*
oh Lordie. I have to see what I have on my hard drive. As I was packing up the house yesterday I found poems I couldn’t even remember. Be right back.
happy 100 larue! and thanks dood
What you wrote about the look changing from love to indifference reminds me of some people I knew who smile and then — it switches off. A kid i knew did that, and a teacher. They always bothered me; I couldn’t read them.
Woohoo!
Century mark . . .
*G*
In a previous thread I was all pissed off at someone’s comment about getting out the guillotines. I’m angry at the rich too. I don’t have a big of a reason to be pissed as some people, but if people are angry enough to talk about killing people then maybe then can be angry enough to do something that will actually hurt the rich. Because just threatening them with violence isn’t going to work.
Actually killing one isn’t going to work either. It’s not going to scare them, it’s going to give them excuses to roll out there Blackwater troops and their private guards.
This is why the rich love to have the teabaggers go after the President or immigrants. because they aren’t going to bear the brunt of the people’s anger.
As I said in the post below. You want to hurt rich people you take away their money. there are lots of ways.
If I regret one thing about my campaign is that I wasn’t able to figure out how to get a cut of all the advertising that I got taken off the station.
Yes! That was fantastic news.
so dayam many politicians have that smile and then it switchs off…
Where are you guys going? Have you made a long-term decision yet?
Congratulations, Larue!
We are either going to Portland or Costa Rica. really.
I cannot seem to be able to open my poetry. Ah well.
for purely selfish reasons, i hope portland wins
Costa Rica is so beautiful, peaceful and advanced in the ways of “loving your brother”. Just be aware of the rainy season and have a 4 wheel drive so you can stock up on necessities. And beware the howler monkeys. Those puppies voices carry for one mile!!!
Poetry is created with short lines;
A few or many is perfectly fine.
I once wrote a poem about a wall:
“A wall is a wall, afterall.”
I called the poem “Ode To A Woman”, a masterpiece, I thought.
My English III teacher, not amused, D minus was what I got.
my second wind is fading fast. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight.
g’nite all
We need to take to the streets like the French are doing against Sarkozy’s ‘Pension Reforms’…! Non-violence is the only viable way…!
Fair food. Surprised to see Trader Joe’s involved in this.
I Fall Asleep and Dream
As I wait for your call
I fall asleep
and dream
we are making love and in
the distance between us
I can hear you
punctuating
your secret
but not so quiet
sentences.
normally, i’m a morning person.

Red Hot France; Tepid Britain

You know what? Getting people fired and getting a corporation in financial trouble is not as satisfying as you would think.
You know if I thought that violence agains the rich worked I would get some stupid tea bagged to do the work. Then I would do like Beck and O’Reilly do and say, “I didn’t mean it literally!” and you totally get away with it!
I suppose that we’ll be privy to a live test of the two modalities of engaging the political process: The post Reagan/Thatcherite anglo reaction, or lack thereof; and the Gauls doing what is considered respectable and righteous in France.
I used to be a morning person until I retired. Now I’m either a morning person or a late morning person. If something big is happening, I have to set the horrible alarm clock. No rules, normally! It’s wonderful.
What an inspiration!
Ha! When’s your turn, newt? Anytime soon with such a youngster?
