Neither of these cretins tells the truth about anything. They take no responsibility whatsoever for their words or their actions. They use deceit and fear tactics to get what they want. They have zero compassion for the less fortunate. They take the philosophy that their own warped ends justify the equally warped means to obtain them. And they actively use their power to hurt others. These are the actions of children, not adults. Children, regardless of age, do not have the mental or emotional capacity yet to understand that their words and actions have consequences for others, and that they must take care when considering what to say and do in life. Children become adults when they learn to tell the truth, even when there is no benefit, when they learn to take responsibility for their words and actions, when they learn to have compassion for those less fortunate, and so on.

Go read Matthew 25:34-46 if you are so inclined. One needn’t be a Christian to realize that the things Jesus described in those passages are part of the template for adult human behavior. When we all lived in band-level societies, we couldn’t afford to treat others the way we generally do today; we needed each other to survive, and it simply didn’t serve that purpose if we left our fellows to starve, or freeze, or suffer injury. It was when we grew enough in number that social stratification took place that we as a species began to practice habits that took us away from the practices of our forerunners, and engaged in discrimination, manipulation, theft, and other crimes. Social stratification, once it grew out of control, allowed a significant portion of the human race to remain in perpetual childhood despite (or perhaps in spite of) their chronological ages.

When someone like Harry Reid works overtime to let Republicans pass whatever destructive policies they want, while blocking efforts to stop those policies, and then turns around and lies to voters claiming that he must be re-elected to prevent Sharron Angle from getting in and doing the exact same thing he’s been doing, that is the behavior of a child, not a man. Similarly, when Sharron Angle perpetuates the lie that Social Security is in danger of insolvency and must therefore be slashed to the bone in order to save it, she is not acting like a woman; she is acting like a child.

Since these cretins insist on behaving as children, I suggest We the people treat them as such. When they come around and demand out votes, we should give them a sound spanking and send them to bed without supper, and elect adults to fill public offices.

If it had a role, it’s because Gore made it so (choosing Lieberman because he had chastised Clinton and awkwardly kissing Tipper to make it look like the g’enis has higher standards than the cl’enis). The voters already spoke in 1998 about the use of the clenis in politics, and Newt was sent packing. Gore would have done better to ignore it.

I’ve always taken that phrase to mean that the person has a lack of testosterone. You often see the analogy of ball size being thrown in to that same line of talking. I.e. Reid lacks the balls, the manhood, to confront the adversity before him.

When Hillary ran, people would often say she had bigger balls then Obama. I personally don’t like Hillary’s positions on foreign policy, but she is definitely more of a relentless fighter than most men out there.

I never interpreted the manhood thing as being an implied shot against someone’s sexual preference (straight versus gay). I think it has more to do with risk taking, and men (in general) are greater risk takers than women, because they have so much testosterone. Which is why we pay more in car insurance than women even if we have identical driving violations. :)

You will get no argument from me on that score. By Gore making the clenis have a role, he sealed his fate. I have to say I don’t think Gore wanted to POTUS at all, which begs the question as to why he bothered to run. But that’s another story for a different day.

I think this line of attack conflates emotional with physical maturity, and both with wisdom. Compare the imperative, “grow up,” with “man up.” And when’s the last time you heard a sportscaster say “woman up”?

Let me ask y’all this: Does Barney Frank need to “man up” and face down the banksters? Or grow up?

I trust that you’re correct with regards to the specific facts regarding eunuchs (that being that they were commonly great warriors in history), but my usage is obviously derived from the commonly used expression — so common in our popular culture that it’s used daily — equating balls with courage.

“You don’t have the balls to …”
“Who’s got the biggest balls of them all?”
“He’s got the balls to actually do it.”

So from that usage a eunuch would, figuratively speaking, be the antithesis — someone lacking testicles (where I believe testosterone is largely produced). If I remember correctly, I believe people’s voices rise a few pitches when they get castrated, unless that’s just an old wives’ tale… :)

I just saw Chris Matthews and he had a lot of clips of these kinds of statements from the female tea baggers.

I think it’s a way of hitting the men below the belt in a way where they are restrained from fighting back. Like Chris said, if any of the guys said, “act like a lady” there’d be a public outcry of sexism. Let’s face it, despite what I said before, having seen these women actually say the things they did, their statements were sort of sexist against men.

If I were the guys I’d call them neurotic in response. I know the public doesn’t like it when a politicians says anything negative to women, even as a defensive line, but come on, find something to say, or else you you really look as weak — just like they’re claiming.
