Newt Gingrich, last seen using Muslims as scapegoats — part of a lifetime of scapegoating anyone who doesn’t fit into his demographic — is back. And as always it’s classy:
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich today published a memo to Republican candidates urging them to cast the Democratic Party as the party of food stamps while calling the GOP the party of paychecks.
So it’s both ill-phrased and a lie. In other words it was something said by Newt Gingrich.
Yes, Newt, the Democrats are the Party responsible for food stamps, they were passed by them, they own them. For generations, the Democratic Party has thus been the party of not letting people starve.
Making your Party, the GOP, the Party of Famine.

“…the Party of Famine.” Brilliant.
Bob Dole will be delighted to hear this.
Logan’s Law: The dumber the right-winger, the smarter he thinks he is.
Newt looks particularly well-fed for someone who has never actually “produced” anything in his life but Elephant-grade manure, both verbal and written.
Not to mention he’s a classy “do as I say, not as I do” hypocrite, just ask his second wife.
Speaking of food.
Gotta love those right wingers from whatever nation.
Good morning, pups. It’s Collins and Kristof today. In “Connecticut on the Ropes” Ms. Collins says although debates are popping up like frost heaves, the one for the Senate candidates in Connecticut this week was a big deal. Mr. Kristof, in “Trifecta of Torment,” says Republicans are offering a triple whammy to fix the economy: fewer jobs, worse deficits and greater inequality.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got banana pancakes for breakfast. We’ve got a house guest arriving later today, so I’m off to run around and make sure everything is ready. Have a great day.
It you want to get technical, I believe Jesus was the first food stamps guy… loaves and fishes for the hungry, all that stuff.
So lets get that out there.
I am so sick of Republicans wining the slogan war.
They are the Party of Shrinking Paycheck so you can qualify for Food Stamps while you work your ass off.
Now… the GOP might be the party of bounced checks.
When was the last time a GOP President ran a surplus?
Run, Newt, run.
I agree with Jim Moss that it’s not 2010 that we should be worrying about, it’s 2012. Whichever Republican is elected, they will be taking the reins of
a national security state whose powers, enlarged under Bush, have been ratcheted up further by Obama.
They will be working from Bush’s playbook but will know what mistakes to avoid.
It will be a very dangerous time for our country.
So, the more incompetent the better, and Newt’s as incompetent as they come.
Isn’t that guy from Fresno that rescued the little girl on the Amber alert this week on food stamps?
People rightfully criticize Newt and his propagandist bs but given the fact the electorate are by and large morons it’s effective.
The GOP says, “If you’re unemployed or underemployed, starve; and if you get sick, die quickly.”
Sure, Newt. That’s a party I’d want to vote for.
On the other hand, the Democratic Party says, “You’re all bitches of the insurance industry now. Be sure to show your appreciation on election day.”
In fairness to Newt, he’s not such a bad guy when he steps away from politics. I still don’t agree with him, but he thinks more like a statesman. But every time he tries to move back into politics, the dick in him goes into overdrive (no pun intended).
They celebrate and revel in the ignorance. Ignorance has become a badge of honor.
Here’s a slogan for you
The GOP the party of a Pay Check that qualifies for FOOD STAMPS.
No matter which branch of the corporate party gets to sit in the WH the police state will not only continue but will be expanded. Privacy is over, dead, gone never to come back.
Good morning all.
Marion, if you need any leftovers for your house guest, I made a traditional thanksgiving dinner last night for 4 people: myself, 2 neighbors, and their house guest from China. I have a fridge full of all the goodies that are left over, so just open the door & help yourselves. Turkey sandwiches for lunch, potato pancakes at some point, etc.
Oh dear, my comment grates on a thread about food stamps. Apologies.
so is the ability of the citizenry to organize and publicly demonstrate against government policies. you might want to ask yourself why is so much of the weaponry under development targeted towards crowd control?
Morniing all,
Last spring Newt addressing a “religious” convention in VA or the Carolinas repeatedly referred to people in America or elsewhere in the world who did not share their beliefs as heathens. I cannot see the difference between someone who calls someone of a different belief system a heathen and someone who calls them an infidel.
When their karma catches up with them, they will reap what they sow.
Personally, if I was of the Islamic world where they do their bombing, I’d find a way to clean up OUR nuclear dumps in Iraq and send the toxic material to Israel to dispose of the nuclear waste.
It would be especially delicious if it was all done LEGALLY and out in the open, you know, like the Iraq war …
Good point.
Since getting control seemed to be the goal, what goals do you think they will have after they gain full control?
I bet a lot of people in Fresno are on food stamps. Beats eating out of garbage cans.
Here is a thought experiment for you.
Lets say we all have NO privacy, HOW do we collectively create a new third party, one that both WINS elections and whose members actually vote against the interests of this all powerful and entrenched, deadly political machine?
What is wrong with being a heathen?
Yep. <snark>Just imagine the Glory…high in a penthouse, overlooking hordes of miseducated poor serfs as they fight each other for scraps…aahh. Glorious like “Soylent Green”. Newt must relish the thought.</snark>
I think the crowd control weapons may be insufficient to control the crowds I envision in our future.
The GOP is the party of the “Welfare King” as verified by the bailouts, tax entitlements, K Street, and laws that deregulate industries and prohibit enforcement of laws to protect the consumer.
The GOP: The Party of Bigger Banker Bonuses
The GOP: The Party of “I Got MINE, Eff You small people!”
The GOP: The Party of Corporate & Oligarch Welfare: let the small people starve & die quickly.
“Since getting control seemed to be the goal, what goals do you think they will have after they gain full control?”
A question that Jane and her cabal needs to concerns themselves with rather than the ongoing diatribe against Barack Obama.
But, DEM has descended to the NAPPYS (No Account President and Party of Yoo’re Screwed)! Time for Another CHANGE! And it’s Not the BludgeOn Americans.
Gingrich is literally cynicism personified.
[Disclosure: I have worked for a large statewide food bank for 13+ years, and I'm very well versed on the impact of food stamps in various communities, and my home state overall]
The Dems, or the President himself, need to come out and assertively state that the US is a compassionate country and that, with all of our resources, Democrats are not about to be cowed into cutting food stamps. Just lay it on the line, confidently.
This counter message needs to include how many children are included in food stamp participant numbers.
This counter message needs to include the positive economic impact that food stamps have on each and every one of our communities.
This counter message somehow needs to include that fact that part of Gingrich’s message is intended to demonize food stamp users so that tthey act a bit craven – timidly self-conscious – when they offer food stamps as payment for groceries.
This counter message needs to blast Gingrich and the Republican supporters of this meme for encouraging citizens to look down on the less fortunate, whether they appear poor or not, at the checkstand when they offer food stamps as payment in order to try and win voter sympathy for selfishness.
Such hypocrites! They, assuming that most Republicans would claim to be of the Christian faith, scandalize their own Lord who fed many, and stated unequivocally that inasmuch as you have done nothing to help the least of these less fortunate you have denied me and my Lordship (I paraphrase, but very accurately).
It’s about the children, who have no choice as to whom they are born.
Heck, Mr. President, I’ll even write a speech or address about this that you can deliver. I guarantee it will be scathing.
Tom Finlay
Well the Republicans used to depend on the invisible hand job to snatch the food out of the mouths of the weak and useless, but now Christine ODonnell has outlawed that.
Great post and great caption.
