I did high performance computing, general technical application performance work. Developing benchmarks for chip design/simulation software. Tuning of various applications – spent about 6 weeks getting Pixar’s rendering software to run faster.

Well, no wonder I’m not getting anywhere.

I actually had an interview for the first time in a long time last week. I didn’t really want the job, but hell, it was a job….blew the interview anyway. Got stopped by a cop re my expired tag (it’s a loooong story-working on fixing it) on the way to the interview.

Let me off with a warning, probably because of the interview. But I was a nervous wreck, and I mean wreck. Sigh. Caught a glimpse of the next interviewee as I was leaving…well dressed, composed, calm-appearing, oh, and of course, young.
Oh well. The pay was lousy as well as an unpleasant job.

I’ve taken to researching the interview team before I go in. How can I make myself connect with each and every person I’m talking with? I hope this mindset leads to an offer.

Next week I may be saying I’ve got 2 or more offers! Last time I was looking for work I had two offers – I chose the one that had work from home possibilities because I needed to spend time in Indiana before my mom died. being able to work from office I set up there was critical. Not so much now. That property probably will sell as part of bankruptcy… and my son won’t have living space for his last year of college.

This is what you do if you have an expired tag-go to a dealer and ask for some dealer plates. Put them on your car. Keep your car washed so it looks like it was just purchased. At the least you don’t have this big fat flag on the back of your car saying “come give me a ticket cause I am expired”. I did it until I could afford to register the car.

He sent me to the back and the machanic said “So, your car isn’t registered right?” I said right. He said here are some plates. I said thank you very much. :)
