long day. 4 hours driving, 7+ hours interviewing.
Went well.
Suz!
hey wmd — how ya doing tonight?
hey newton — how ya doing tonight?
Great Suz, how’s things up there?
Hallooo!
or “Guten Abend!” Just back from Oktoberfest – Ja!
tired.
convincing 5 people they want me for a colleague, and 2 execs that I’d be an asset that could move if soft money for one project dries up… Last guy was an exec and I talked about Hanford groundwater modeling, and how that needs to be done before more shale gas production comes on line.
The earth sciences folks need computer support and I’ve got background. So I think the execs get that I’m the kind of human capital that’s valuable.
I hope I hear something in about 10 days.
hey kelly — how’s denver tonight? how was the fest?
Hope it went well, with that much time invested.
looks like tomorrow may be sunny — chance of rain sunday tho and lotsa overcast forecast. may warm up to 70 at the coast and 80 in portland
Aloha, Suz…! How’s your side of the Pacific…?
fingers and toes crossed for ya dood — i bet you are exhausted. you’ve been prepping for thisi all week
Oh lordy, that’s even more tiring than your first post sounded! Fingers crossed that you hear good news sooner than you think.
hey sb — how’s santa barbara tonight?
Autumn has arrived…! ;-)
aloha tut — tis a nice night on the bay :) how’s paradise tonight?
Great!!!!! Will keep fingers crossed for you.
EPU’d from an earlier thread, but so brilliant, I had to bring it up here.
How can the Democrats be so hopeless??
Remember last night I said we were prepping for summer? Well it came! Tomorrow is supposed to be even warmer, so we’re all enjoying this brief interlude before we get annoyed that it’s hot!
hey mauimom — how’s your island tonight?
Been prepping for 2 weeks.
Actually a bit more.
Working with National Academy level scientists is really exciting and satisfying for me. Some possibility of some publication as well.
Hey Suz and everyone, burning the midnight oil once again tonight. Love the Muppets vid Suz, it really celebrates diversity — especially loved the bagpiper playing Hava Nagila ;-)
double yikes!
Well, I did the chicken dance and the Ländler and there was meats-on-sticks and lotsa beer. It was divine!
hey ll — how’s va tonight? i loved the bagpiper too :) glad ya liked it
Hey there, Suzanne et tous le monde!
Popcorn! Ten years ago the periodontist insisted that I eschew popcorn. I’ve abided by her wishes. O I miss it so!
How ya doing tonite, Suzanne? How’s your evening way out there?
*waves to all!*
Suze! Pups!
wmd1961, keeping my fingers crossed for you.
time to find out the a/c works :) i heard it was gonna hit 87 on the beach at santa cruz tomorrow…. and a friend in la said she’s forecast to hit 90 plus tomorrow.
glad i’m up here — i don’t do hot well
Another exceedingly hot day on Friday, hopefully our last one in the 90′s until next year…waiting for the weather to finally break this weekend, maybe some rain in the offing.
rockaway beach (north of tillamook bay) celebrates rocktober fest each year… lotsa live bands and lotsa beer :)
((( ndfg )))
Warmer than I’d like, and still no rain.
In a week I’ll be in LA, beginning a drive across the country with my just-graduated-from-college-but-still-unemployed son.
Anyone have any advice re Albuquerque, Oklahoma City, Little Rock, Memphis, Nashville?
We’ve got our visit to the Grand Canyon set up. It’s from there on that I’m curious about.
hey aitch — doing fine here — how’s it out your way?
* waves back *
hey ndfg — how ya doing tonight?
I think I’d do a bi-modal commute, use BART part way. Maybe do some couch surfing or find a room a couple nights a week. project lead said I could probably telecommute 2 days a week, but even so 480 miles driving isn’t sustainable. 240, and BART/shuttle for remainder is. BART has wifi, so I’d be able to deal with personal net stuff during part of commute.
{{{ LL }}} skritch the kitty for me, i’m missing having cats something fierce.
stop in ok city and see the murrow building memorial. very powerful.
and ya gotta visit beale street in nashville.
Getting psyched about tomorrow night’s big Ho’olaulea…!
They shut down much of our bayfront downtown, with three separate stages jamming with a whole host of notable bands…1 8-)
yikes — bart or check to see if there are any vanpools going there. bet you are not the only employee that deals with a similar commute.
The kitteh has just been skritched for ya ;-) I bet you do miss having them around, they are just such great little friends…
advice re Albuquerque
I could probably give you some of that. . .
how cool dood!!! think you will get some inspirations for future posts?
Good for you, here in Charlotte it’s still hot-hot, come Sunday comes rain and about a 15-degree drop to stay. Like Hemingway’s line about going broke: Gradually and then suddenly.
hey bg — how ya doing tonight?
Couple of weeks and maybe things turn around.
I’ve got the joy of jury duty a week from Monday. I’m tempted to go FIJA early in voir dire, but judges hate that. Don’t think I could be held in contempt though.
Hi there, Suz. I’m OK, settling in for the weekend with Little Momma.
Belch can work the crowd; he got us a couple of free beers and this lady just handed over this huge tub of pretzles to him!
Then he went running around giving pretzles to people, anybody, everybody. He’s quite fun to hang out with.
wmd, sending out good thoughts to you!
how’s little momma tonight?
well pretzels *do* make ya thirsty….
Hey LL, here’s Dick Dale’s version
hey margot — how’s ohio tonight?
I’m not a hot weather girl myself, especially now that I seem to be generating my own menopausal heat. The portable a/c is still in the box in the garage, but you can bet I’ll have that sucker dragged up here in a heartbeat if I need it!
Here’s a fun tune from a fave band from back in the day; hadn’t heard this tune in a while but it popped up on my XM today
NRBQ — It’s A Wild Weekend
thanks.
LoudounLib, I am coming your way [DC].
She’s headed to dreamland for the night, I think. She’s been doing pretty well, having some pain in her foot, but otherwise, stable.
Hey newtonusr! My MBP got very hot until a few minutes ago from intense mting. That EyeTV gizmo copy/records commercial DVD’s. Ever fool with iMovie? I’m no longer an abuser, I’m mainlining.
I was trying real hard to watch Bill Maher tonight. Forkin’ Andrew Smuckhead Brietbart and Nitwit Amy Holmes were on. Geez. Who does Bill Maher think he is? Obama?
Oh that’s great Margot, thanks! A surf music/klezmer mashup ;-)
Thanks.
I’m really tired of not having work. I’ve got a good intellect and a lot of skills. Should be getting paid to use it.
Looking forward to a change.
*snort* I’ll bet that FIJA goes over well. ;)
Oh cool! I was wondering, reading your travel timeline, if you’d make it out this way. Hope you have great travels!
i too carry my own personal summer around with me — i don’t need extra :)
Current plan is that we arrive there early enough on Saturday [10/2] to watch football for the day. [He's a sports writer.]
Have already found a list of all the sports bars in town.
hey mary mac — how’s sac tonight senator?
surf’s up
Nice. Cool but it will be 96 tomorrow. Hot. Am supposed to go to a Union/Campaign thingie. Hot.
stable is good :)
That is the first day of the balloon fiesta. It’s pretty wild, do you have a place to stay?
Thanks for taking my fonts, Miss Suzanne. You know how on call-in talk radio, you always hear someone go, they’re all like, ‘O my [bleep], I’ve been trying for seven years to get in and I finally got in! I can’t believe it thank you for taking my call why does everyone hate Bush I’m sorry but I’m really nervous what okay i’ll turn my radio down’?
Heck, it’s easy getting on here – you take everyone’s call and pick up right away.
Why do morans still try to call radio shows? he asks rhetorically.
Hiya pups.
Our late September wind storm is continuing. It increased today, with gusts over 80 knots. The next door neighbors have lost three huge trees. I watched one come down – a 60-foot birch tree, well past its prime, ripe to be snapped.
Supposed to calm down about 4:00 a.m.
Hi Pups. I’m ecstatic that the Nard has had two days of summer! I’d thought of maybe setting up a garden to grow my vege stuff, but it sure wouldn’t have thrived in the fog we’ve had all summer. Nice to have some sunshine!
Out – gotta lot to do tomorrow. Laterz!
Nullification has a mixed history. People have been acquited for lynchings via nullification. Still, I think rights of conscience are pretty important.
I know you don’t need me to laugh at your jokes, but I am. The only thing that would have made me laugh harder is if you’d said “long time listener, first time caller.”
tis an honor to have folks comment on my threads — my biggest fear is that ya’ll will get bored with me and won’t stop by and say hey anymore.
‘night Kelly, sweet dreams.
hey et — yikes! fingers and toes crossed it calms down with no more damage
Possibly… This is a Hilo product that is headlining, alongside Uncle Willie K…! ;-)
hey dearie — how ya doing tonight?
g’nite kelly
That’ll never happen! We love hangin’ out with ya Suz.
i think because morans have trouble reading, spelling, and comprehending. When they go online, they don’t even know how to unlock caps lock!
Hot…I can do without very very hot summers.
Especially humid ones.
A friend in Albuquerque said it’s hotter there now than when we were younger. I may be there for a visit next summer.
woohoo — you’ve been wanting to visit there for a long time right?
I’m Free!
Laughing out loud……my best friend’s guy heard about the Stewart/Colbert rallies and immediately booked a flight to take them there………he’s my hero! What an adventure. Looking forward to getting a full report of what they see and hear.
Another tune I hadn’t heard in a while
Dead Flowers
I hope you know I wasn’t snorting at your conscience, but at the system. I would never make fun of your viewpoint. Our system however, is laughable. However even a broken system works sometimes; I heard on the radio the AF nurse who was ousted for DADT was reinstated.
freedom
oh yes:)
how cool! life should have lotsa adventures and lotsa lotsa laughter
Maybe you’ll let me know when that is!
Dipped into Beck’s Blaze…..and was astounded at the comments. Big old tent revival goin’ on over there. Just embarrasses me for my country. And, jeez, I get typos, but can’t those fools learn to spell?!
Judges don’t like juries deciding the law is wrong. I suspected that you were snorting at a judges reaction to a potential juror saying they didn’t think they could in good conscience convict when a law is bad.
Careful Suz!
sometimes I feel like a motherless child
To watch Bill Maher I would have to have HBO or pay one of those online sites the next day. I’m keeping a weeklong TV diary for a research firm, this is the end of day two, I haven’t watched anything so far.
radio silence Suz!
10-Day Forecast
96f, 96f, 98f, 96f, 92f, 88f, 83f, 84f, 83f,
Well, we did have a mild summer.
My biggest fear is fire.
You are like cool water, darlin.!
Sympathy.
permission to break radio silent for priority traffic?
happy 100 ll!!!
lol, calling for radio silence as you get the 100.
thanks dood — i wasn’t keeping track (again)
hey openhope — how ya doing tonight? are the plans for your rally falling into place?
And while my friend is less enthusiastic about this than I am, I told her about how I didn’t go to the first YearlyKos because I didn’t have a blog, or a xompurwe for that matter, and because I’m innately shy, and how I’ve always regretted that. Go where your interests draw you!
I would love to, it’s going to be June (it’s a HS reunion) but I don’t know the exact date. I’m not sure the people organizing it know yet. Will let you know!
shelter
channel is 10-3 except for priority traffic ;-)
;-)
Yes. Hotel Blue downtown. We knew about the Balloon Festival, so reserved ahead. Thanks for the thought.
We’re supposed to have one of those next summer too. Normally I would be one of the people trying to figure it out. . .but that is not happening yet.
hey, it’s in minneapolis next summer! come visit!
it was so great to meet Pups when i went to NN in austin in ’08
One hit wonder.
A one hit wonder theme could be a fun LLN.
My house is just a couple of blocks from there. There is a fantastic Farmer’s Market on Saturdays across the street from the hotel. It is over by noon. I have not been able to go this summer because I am always with Little Momma on weekends.
Hey CT, have you seen the press about the “homegrown Hawaiian movie, Get a Job“?
Supposed to be a comedy. Has Willie K & Eric Gilliam.
You’re funnier. I was too nervous to think of saying that.
gotta a little change in my pocket
My canoe started wandering around parts of the veggie garden, propelled by the wind. Some of our corn stalks got blown over from the gusts. My small, reinforced plastic and steel greenhouse is anchored into the ground, but the poles are now bent. It is too dangerous to try to take it down, though, until the wind ceases or lets up.
Just heard another tree snap off, away in the distance.
Wow, that takes me back…
rut roh…. not a good start to the changing of the seasons dood. how does la nina impact alaska?
That is just awful. When the wind blows that hard, it is scary.
You don’t get to do cameos on MSNBC (yet), but you draw more comments than everyone else combined.
Deservedly so.
Particularly, when it doesn’t stop for hours and hours.
Tied Down.
Oh, thanks for the tip!!!
You mean Bristol Palin?
So hip! Or is it hep?
oh, i’m not a be on tv kinda person.
i just try to treat everyone who visits my threads with the same kinda respect that i was greeted the first time i ever commented here. late late night is nothing without you guys — the readers and the commenters.
HA! That’s worse than the weather phenomenon!
evening, Suzzz … firegourds
that’s new to me :) i hadn’t heard that before… whenever i think of ohw, i think of gs
really. I don’t know how long it had been before I heard it today.
oh snap – i wish i wudda thought of that
gotta go, it’s so late here :-( Thanks Suz and pups, ‘nite all!
hey ppd — how’s the south south bay tonight?
g’nite ll
Nobody’s getting hurt, from what I’ve heard so far.
I was in a wind storm by Cordova about this same time of year in 1976, where the wind blew 70, gusting to 110 or 120 by some accounts. With 250 small salmon gillnet boats and skiffs around the bars of the Copper River, nobody got lost, which surprised us all. My boat got its inboard-outboard lower unit torn loose from bumping against the bottom in the surf, but I beached it before it swamped.
I think it charted for them.
I need to be sleeping too.
Good night all.
She’s not a “weather” phenomenon. She’s a “whether” one – whether I’ll be abstinence goddess this week or screw my brains out.
g’nite wmd
brains?
Oh, yeah. Got the porta-potty expense covered and the was the main one at $80. Grassroots flyer printers. I have time to go door to door down mainstreet, usa.
What is the next puzzle; who do you seek out as 5 minute speakers in your small community? You have to have keynote speakers even if you force them into a Socialist rally structure.
Do we reach out to:
the ever present Tea Party. I say not.
the local politicians. I say not.
the churches. yes.
the peace people are already on it.
the veteran’s outreach program will need a stipend to come talk. Need to budget them in. $50?
the musician’s need to lend me a voice mike so we can talk. If not, we’ll do a comic version of interpretation. Mega-phone.
I really don’t care on this rally. What will be will be. It’s the first of many events that I feel comfortable letting whatever happens happen. But the People’s voices need to be heard. I know how to do that.
Very good. You win the Palin internets tonight!
not evident.
Hey PPD, good to see you
The original Hilton Hotel is walking distance. It is now called the Hotel Andaluz and just won some kind of decor award. It is worth a walk down the street. I have not been to the restaurant yet, but the bar (pricey) is nice.
Old Town is the opposite direction and also easy to get to from your hotel.
Directly south from you 2 blocks is the Flying Star. Lots of people love it there, they have pastries (lots), a broad menu and tons of magazines.
The gallery 516 (516 Central) is worth a look, they just opened a new show. If you pick up an Alibi and a Local IQ, you will find out what is going on in town that weekend. There is a big theater with 14 screens, if you want that. All walking distance for you.
don’t forget to take pictures too — or have someone there who is doing that.
Oh dear.
you are totally cracking me up dood
That’s right, for your cleverness, you have to claim a Palin for your own. Aaack! I can’t even joke about it for the length of a post. That family is so creepy that I can’t wish any member on you, even in my imagination.
Night all. Sweet drams.
i say bristol will be out by week 4 of dwts. they are gonna want to keep her around long enough for folks to get ‘hooked’ on finding out who wins
g’nite openhope
Uh, Do you know where I live, SBc?
Best of luck with your rally!
hiys Suzzz, hiya margot — the heat wave continues unabated
She’s a “hooker,” that’s why she’s there.
sb is fairly new and probably is not aware that you live in the same town as the quitter
bait is such a nicer term
So sorry, you are right, I was not very nice, but bait/hook alla same family, I think.
you mean the girilla from wasilla, Suz?
twas a good play on words tho….
barracuda
one trick pony
EEK! I did not know/remember that. My humor is flat as a pancake with that kind of proximity. My very big bad.
It’s OK. I predict the Palins will pull up stakes here within two years. No trees to blow down at their place. all the big ones have been bulldozed. That new 15-foot high fence might not make it through the storm, though. This blow will be the first test.
Apparently not, ET…! I hope your house is well outta range of 60′ birches and pines…! ;-)
did they ever correctly install it — last time i saw a pic, it was pretty rickety looking
Thank you SO much. Perhaps we’ll be able to “meet up” for a drink.
Thank you for pointing out my noobness. While I may have read FDL for years, I wasn’t having to attend to names/situations. I kind of got the drift of things, but didn’t feel responsible about committing everyone to memory. Now that I’m commenting, I feel a greater obligation.
If not for you I wouldn’t know any of that stuff.
Btw, Wonkette drooled over Sarah-Mom back before the End Of Days, like they hoped they discovered her or something. Be careful what you care for?
And this is why I steer clear of daytime discussions! I hate putting my foot in my mouth!
‘Long time lurker…’
Heh. It’s OK.
I just e-mailed a friend to go check out the 15-foot high fence they put up to wall them off from Joe McGinness. I’ve got a hunch it will not make it through the night.
And that’s where I should have stayed!!!!
took me 4 months before i got up the nerve to comment. can be a big step for a lotta folks.
i rarely comment during the day time — everyone is so much smarter than i am about so many things. tis intimidating to me. but here, in the dark, i comfy.
That would be nice, but I am out of town Friday to Monday every week, taking care of my little momma. . .
once ya de-lurk, its real hard to go back to being silent
i’m just saying…
I have a nice if worn set of invisible fonts for daytime FDL comments.
Thanks for understanding. It’s hard for someone in the lower 48 to imagine having to deal with those folks in the flesh. I have such a visceral, skin-crawl reaction that it’s like talking about vampires or some other boogeyman.
Now that is just really so totally sad.
INVISIBLE FONTS? Come to mama!
Lame Stream Fence.
bullshite! You’re 99th percentile smart and informed. Maybe also 99th percentile humble.
*spew*
For me, it was 11 months.
And I crashed and burned more than once before I got my chops.
SBcardinal, you’re in the club.
“When I gave food to the poor, they called me a saint. When I asked why the poor were hungry, they called me a communist.”
__Dom Helder Camara quotes
99 percent of the daytime commentary is spat-up parrot speak off TV.
(This is you brain. This is your brain on pundits. Any questions?)
I been here since day one and yammering the whole time. Ya’ll can tell me to shut up anytime.
Here’s what we’ve got:
Thanks for the vote of confidence. If I ever get over my good-girl upbringing and my stick-a-sock-in-it around the in-laws problem, I’ll be a force to be reckoned with.
DING!
hey lurk – how goes? didja find the dark chocolate with pecans goodies i stashed under your modchair?
I like your personalized weather service! Very helpful!
Oh Honey! You are in the right place. We have been known to compromise more than one good girl.
It is Taco-Friday here.
But I will have a look – Oh, dessert!
hey robert — how ya doing tonight?
I am commenting here and reading Deadwood quotes at the same time. Hope I don’t get them mixed up.
happy 200 lurk!!!
Be in my joint in two hours, we’re forming a fuckin’ government.
.
.
oooops.
In aught-eight I got flamed on a blog for being far-out. The flamer described me as being a regular at FDL and checking in every day waiting for Fitzmas. I asked her what’s FDL, she told me, and well, you know the rest, except the part about my being banned for life from that blog by its host.
All out of lemon cake to go with my green tea. Gota settle for a stale Hostess honey bun….
hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
I need all the help I can get. I was raised female, Catholic and military, so it’s been an uphill battle to find my voice. I fear that if I ever lose my shackles, I may flatten the landscape as far as the eye can see.
Yes, I am hanging my head.
Banned for life? geez. no fair.
My latest diary here.
I’ve been asked to go on one of the November boats. Sorely tempted, but……
see what happens when you laugh at me when i hit it — hahahahaha
Oh please do get over it, it’ll be like a pressure cooker letting off steam. You’ll feel better!
recommended et
But just think if you never do. or if you did! Think of the possibilities. Endless. You could go to Mardi Gras. You could build a sand castle in your living room. You could toilet paper your inlaws house.
I am most definitely working on it. I’m like a little kid who thinks their thoughts are powerful enough to destroy the universe! Baby steps, and late night commenting will get me there.
before ya know it, you will be writing diaries calling out the forkers forking up
You too??
I really think there are a bunch of women who have been told to stifle themselves so long, they wonder “Gee I guess if I said what I’m thinking, I’d scythe a path of waste and destruction through the land…”
And then we say something, and eh, nothing happens. Or like someone said to me once, “Tell us how you really feel.”
Has SBcardinal been to a ‘fuck’ thread yet?
I hear you; I was raised Catholic female and corporate…..and I’ve always been afraid that if I ever let go that I’ll mow the place down! And a girl of a twin-set…..so bathed in testosterone. Turned out to be a teacher and social worker and defender. But, wow, when someone calls out the pitchfork and torches brigade, I’m damned ready to suit up.
I quoted the host’s sarcasm about Hillary being a racist, but he didn’t realize the words were his – I didn’t use q-marks – he took me literally. It was win-win. He’d been waiting for any opportunity to kill me. He couldn’t have liked one of his other regulars saying the only reason for reading his blog was because of ‘AitchD’.
Oh, one of (if not my first) posts at FDL brought the Mod out (I made a joke about Joe Lieberman being busy with his hamentashen, the Mod said Whoa, then must’ve looked up the word and declared me ‘cool’).
fuck threads are so much fun
Funny how that works. I was raised female Catholic and Trouble. And if you want to talk fuck, I could go off about the forking banks. Again. I’m pretty much ready to burn ‘em down for stealing a hundred bucks from me. Fucking fuckers.
fuckya!
Washington DC is overrun with stink bugs:
http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local-beat/Stink-Bugs-Taking-Area-By-Swarm-103669344.html
first they fucked up and gave ya a couple million bucks, then took it back and now they ripped ya off? fucking fuckers
oh yuck
Yea, the fuckers. When they took the $2 mil, well, we all expected that. But this other thing, well, it is just a crime, and they’ll get away with it. It’s a matter of principle, and that’s what gets me mad.
I got a “ferfucksake” in there somewhere a while back. I’ve been baptized in the holy fuckin’ waters.
My broker (I’m not kidding) tells me that if I just hold on, the banks will eventually pay back. They are all damned lucky that I live where I live and not near where their bigwigs live. I still want to lead bus tours of homeless, houseless, aggrieved folks around the gated communities where the richie-riches hide their pets and children….just for the fun of it. But, hey, I’m old and mean!
Brava!
fucking a!!!
I wrote a mock treatise once about ‘fuck’ and how it’s an echoic, onomatopoeic word like ‘piss’ and ‘shit’, and how it’s primarily an English word, which speaks volumes about how men think of lovemaking. And the treatise tried to imagine our world had we used instead the word ‘k’nish’ – except it was already taken.
Maybe all them Republicrates will mate with them and we can sell their offspring to China as chocolate-cover stink-tots….
Perfection.
I just finished reading The Big Short by Michael Lewis, and while I was stomping around, ranting about the crazy real estate market while it was happening, it was horrifying to read the inside story.
I do like a good knish now and then…..but, a line stolen from Suzanne, I am now merely a consultant.
3:08 est, Colbert testifies before Agriculture Committee on C-Span. I watched the whole thing earlier. What a riot.
Conyers was a complete toad.
feel free to steal it — is how i got it (and i can’t remember from who)
The New Yorker and The Nation regularly lay on a ‘fuck’ or its -ing version. We’ve come a very long way in a very short time.
You could write about it. The rest of the media sure did not know how to “take it.”
Sharing is good.
Thanks, Suz. Had to go out and put some more lines on the little greenhouse. 39 degrees F, blowing 65 consistently.
I haven’t had a chance to see the whole thing, just heard excerpts. I was truly moved when Colbert said that he knew that both sides would work together for the good of the American people, like they always did. Holding his comments and reality in my head at the same time was kind of like one of those Star Trek matter/antimatter storylines. Head went *kaboom*.
yikes…. is the door on the shop rattling (or am i misremembering what rattles during the winter blows)?
They got to the fork in the road on “fuck” and, as Yogi Berra said, they took it.
I think the LGBT ‘community’ could get better support if they let the asexuals and the frigids under their so-called big tent.
I’m sending you all of my menopausal warmth to weather your winds. Brrr.
It doesn’t start rattling until it gets over 90 knots.
fuck
Thanks. And thanks for the comment at my Seminal post. Welcome to the lake.
Hey, ET, is Willow an anomoly in the grifter family? She seems to be flying under the radar. Poor little Piper is such a prop. I’m watching DWTS only to see if Bristol sticks it to her mamabear even more. What a family…..Faulknerian, I think.
That whole thing rhymes with “Wells Fargo.”
I take it you heard all the laughter in the background when he said he was sure they would do what they always do: what is right for the country.
O, damn. C-span must have changed its schedule. Colbert has been prempted by some UN delegate speech, 20 minutes….
As much as I enjoyed the video, I love the comment “anyone know the lyrics?” even more!
That comment was the soul of calm.
Hey ET, hey Suz… again
they need to have an al visit
I did hear the laughter. I just can’t say enough about Colbert and his “truth to power” abilities. I always enjoyed him, but after the correspondents’ dinner, I was hooked for life.
Ha! If I ever have a formal dinner at Suzanne’s home, I’ll probably ask “Which eff am I supposed to use first?”
your connection giving ya trouble again?
The guys got balls that can only make Jon Stewart weep….
In the future, Faulkner will be taught as being Palinesque.
Thank you for the warm welcome. I’m going to be a lurker much of the time, but I am taking it all in. I’m working my way up to “taking names and kicking ass.”
Sharing my last cigarette with my cat….
And ain’t that a cryin’ shame.
prolly lipsynched, it don’t count
{{{{newtonusr}}}}
3-foot seas tonight on our 80-acre lake.
I’m out, but, Suzanne, you sure do draw a crowd!
I am otherwise occupied with a couple of laptops in dire need of either a good strangling, or a 3-story fall.
So, you’re saying that it’s good fishing weather…
Hey, did we ever see pics of your annual smokehouse event?
g’nite dearie
cringing at the thought of my laptop acting up….
Heck, I get bigger waves when I’m doing a Christie O’Donnell no-no in my bathtub….
I think the next Cormac McCarthy might do them more justice. It will be titled Inner Dark.
The best thing any of those kids can do for themselves is to get as far away from mama griz as humanly possible. If any of them were bright enough, the astronaut program would offer them the best opportunity for as many miles or light years as they need.
S-P-E-W!
I’ll be dragging my sorry ass tomorrow to pay for staying up so late, or early, as the case may be.
Thanks for being such a lovely host tonight, Suz. Nice to see you all.
CUL8R! I wish she’d do early, but I’m being selfish. The hours are ruff from this side of the continent.
*can’t stop laughing*
g’nite bg
Nite bg, take care.
Close as I came to it.
I made Suzanne laugh.
My night is complete.
notice the “the.”
guess its about time for me to head out. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight and hope to see ya tomorrow night for cartoons.
g’nite all.
They’ve got limelight, but they’re not unordinary. Speaking of Cormac, I read No Country so I could watch the touted movie version the next day (I did the same with The Right Stuff). Those boys fuckened his work real bad while keeping most, i.e., most, of the dialogue verbatim. Bastids.
Nighty-night and thanks for a great evening. How’d it get so late?
Good night Suz good dreams. I had my nightmares last night but am back to equanimity today with a snappy row and a snappy run up my favorite horsetrail in the sand.
I’m continually surprised by how badly nightmares affect my day. Brains are some powerful beasts, aren’t they?
Sweet dreams to all the pups.
It was really nice reading all the comments on today’s FDL post telling it like it is with no excuses or spinning Obama Administration’s sell out of the progressive. The truth is refreshing whether it is pleasant or not.
His novels are way too complex and dark for Hollywood to ever grasp.
My friends have been telling me for 25 years that the Coen boys aren’t Hollywood. (I only liked their Blood Simple and O Brother – which I just saw recently.)
Interesting two confrontational meetings lasting five hours was too much for happy brain. Sitting three feet from our Supervisor on the golf course patio while they lied their tails off. I slept in even some signs of immune system disorder so I blasted it out with workouts. thanks for the empathy SB. Funny I made fresh green drink tonight and took it over to a friend who is from a military family with a nice place in SB. She smokes and drinks so needs some powerful cleanser. It was a very potent mix of organic veggies, hemp protein, cayenne, beans and lentil sprouts, beets, fresh big ripe tomatoes thanks to the heat wave and burdock.
Melody Gardot (young jazz artist) smokes and maintains a strict version of a macrobiotic diet as part of her therapy (a Jeep crashed into her while she was on her bicycle). Some believe it’s dairy foodstuffs that makes tobacco harmful. I play golf, always have, but I can’t abide people who play golf.
Added some citrus some cumin and turmeric and beets. Organic naturally.
That is pretty funny ..”can’t abide”. Our golf course has a flock of wild turkeys who cross the road that cuts through to Morro bay from los Osos. Kinda homey to see so much wild life in and around our bay. Almost spiritual.
Really like Melody am sad to hear she was so injured. A friend lost her daughter while bicycling. She may have been fortunate. The smoking has to dry her throat and vocsl chords. She should find a replacement for that.
I am lucky to like challenging workouts. I like to push my limits to their edge then feel the recovery ramping up the bio systems…the bloods flows to farest tissue flushing by products, recycling materials for the cells and reusing nutrients. I can feel the energy recharging the body. The skin is flushed with circulation.
To hear her tell it, you wouldn’t know her at all if she hadn’t got hurt. She’s still in her 20′s, still in the pre-decay time of her life. She does great things with her voice. Check out her YouTube of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. Louis Armstrong smoked (both things) his whole (brief) life. Who sang better?
Getting late in CA 1:11 people sleeping for another warm sunny day is inviting us for outside activity.
My dermatologist is an Orthodox Jew – wears all the observant gear. He mentions my dry skin. I tell him that Spinoza says we enter the world as a Sabbath challah, we roll through life as a bagel, and we leave as a flat matzo. He says bagels were invented long after Spinoza’s time.
Those are tough notes to hold
Congrats on 300 bb!
Melody made me do it what a femme charmante! And thank you for the well wishes.
And Suzanne will get a kick out of getting 300 comments on her post.
Bonne nuit brother AitchD!
Three-oh-five. A bientot, ici peut-etre, mon frere!
Melody in Madrid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBSN9pw8xcs&feature=related I like the style.
Stink Bugs inside the beltway? Is this news?
They reek, putrid all 535 of them stinky bugs
I assume there are right-wingers who think the Muppets are part of a liberal plot to take over the country.
Brain in a Bottle
Good morning, pups. It’s just Collins and Herbert since Mr. Blow is off today. Ms. Collins, in “Unhold Us, Senators,” says this country needs one great museum to chart the amazing story of women’s history. A bill now stalled in the Senate would provide exactly that. Mr. Herbert says “We Haven’t Hit Bottom Yet,” and that while data zealots have declared the end of the Great Recession, its pain is still very real for millions of Americans.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got waffles with warm maple syrup for breakfast. I’ve got tons of work that I picked up yesterday, so I’d better get cracking on it. Have a great day.
wow, over 300!!! thanks folks
