What the hell is it with Chuck Todd and weather? Has Al Roker failed to genuflect appropriately in his goateed presence? Was he once attacked by a group of bowler wielding Magritte enthusiasts (aka ‘A Meet and Magritte‘)?
And finally, two non-boors combine to respond to a gigantic one, October 30th everyone!
Tonight, Jon Stewart announced the “Rally to Restore Sanity“: a march on Washington for people who have better things to do than march on Washington. Naturally, Stewart’s rally will have competition: the “March to Keep Fear Alive,” led by Stephen Colbert.

What’s Stewart got against Rep. Alan Grayson?
Good morning, pups. Bobo’s all excited, which is not necessarily anything I care to contemplate. In “The Backlash Myth” he breathlessly informs us that contrary to popular belief, this week’s Tea Party victories haven’t hurt the electoral prospects of Republicans in November. Mr. Cohen, who’s in London, sends in “A Pope in a Schismatic Isle” and says Britain would have done well to heed tradition and deny the honor of a state visit to the pope. Prof. Krugman addresses “The Tax Cut Racket” and says Republicans are threatening to force a tax increase on the middle class unless they get paid off with tax breaks for the wealthy. It’s an offer Democrats must refuse.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got banana pancakes this morning. Thank heaven Friday has finally rolled around. Now it’s time to go and find out how many porch kittehs have showed up for breakfast. It was a mob yesterday… Have a great day.
Rome’s chief pooper
Well no shit. The papist pedophile was after all a member of the Nazi Hitler Youth so he should know nazi ideology. That England should allow that child abuser in to the country is a fucking crime. He should be in gaol.
OT but how is that health care reform working out for you.
It is hard to imagine just how this administration could be any worse. Jimmy Carter’s comments on the Kennedy snit killing health care were very interesting.
Good morning all.
I was in Manhattan yesterday when the storm hit. Stayed in a doorway until the rain (big thunder & lightning too) passed, then proceeded, sans umbrella, to the subway. I had no idea what had happened in Queens & Brooklyn until I got back to the country. In Manhattan, it lasted no longer than 15 minutes.
Headline on msnbc website
Is he really really so unaware of what recently happened in that country (or this one, for that matter) that he would use the word ‘bankable’ to describe success?
Does The Onion have a radio station?
NPR is promising a story on the “surprising” links between Tea Party activists and the oil industry.
I think it is more that he doesn’t give a sweet pidoody. The war mongers live in their own universe.
I thought the Pentagon was in the propaganda biz. In that light alone, you’d think Petreaus would have his language checked by his own personal Orwell before issuing statements.
It’s surprising that NPR would touch that story, even at this late date.
Here’s an interesting story I was surprised to see. Prez Carter accuses Ted Kennedy of killing health care reform during his admin, so Kennedy would have a better chance of getting the 84 nomination away from him.
And, unsurprisingly, cnbc is in full fear generating mode over Warren appointment. Don’t know who the guest was, as I was in & out of room with TV, but he seemed quite moderate & sensible. For every reasonable comment or response he made about how the system needed reform, and how it was premature to judge the regs before they were written, and how the consumer protection agency didn’t affect Wall St directly, hosts jumped on him. Their talking point: banks aren’t lending & it’s all her fault.
Glad you’re OK.
You’re all invited to join my “March on Washington for No Reason Whatsoever,” scheduled for an unknown date.
Having fun talking to myself this morning.
Another story I’ve noticed recently is several articles claiming that drinking alcohol improves your health (sorry, links lost to history). Also saw a post (here?) about how liquor manufacturers were coming out against Prop 19. H’mmm.
Thanks. The worst of the storm must have been south of Manhattan, as one local news report had 122 mph winds measured on a NJ pier (in Bayonne, I think). And then the big problems were reported on Long Island. Graphics on TV showing it went by too fast to determine exactly where the worst was.
Banks aren’t lending at all and haven’t for two years – unless it’s to help set up a sheltered workshop and/or cash cow for some of their fellow Republicans:

There’s plenty of reasons why banks aren’t lending. In addition to the one you mention, I’d add that there’s little demand for funds among consumers, who are in pay-down-debt mode. But you won’t hear about either of those on cnbc.
Ahem Check my #4!
Missed that (getting coffee). Thanks for focusing me on it.
When I first saw the Kennedy part, I thought the reference would be to how he was disappointed in the O plan before his death…about the single payer zip, I think.
I consider Grayson to be a moderate. Everyone to the right of him is insane and/or immoderate.
