Every time I think of how Team O ignominiously fired Dean it just makes my blood boil. If Obama were to be primaried in 2012, I think Dean should be the guy. He’s had the executive experience of being a Governor, successfully built coalitions to get candidates elected, has the smarts to figure out the difference between a cold and a broken leg and can actually play the game. And, he’s been in the spotlight long enough that the “Dean Scream” looks like intelligent conversation compared to anything that leaves Sarah Palin’s mouth.

How about “D, the new R”? This reminds of the American car makers of the early 1980s. That was such total media manufactured bullshit. Dean said “Yeah!”, really loudly, after a primary night. Nobody’s ever done THAT before. Look, do we agree that the conservative view of the wars is that they want them continued and the liberal view is they want them ended? The American public is liberal here.

The conservative view is that tax cuts for the rich are always a good thing while the liberal view is that the rich should pay their fair share. Again, the public is on board with the liberal issue.

During health care, 2/3 supported a public option (the “liberal” position) while a majority or plurality polled in favor of single payer.

I’m not going to list every issue under the sun. If you would rather focus on people not self identifying themselves as liberals after a 30 year media blitz denigrating the word, that’s fine. I’ll focus on the fact that on issue after issue after issue the American public is on board with the liberal position.

There were two very excellent examples of this on the front page of this very blog within the last two weeks.

It boils down to if you believe folks aren’t liberal because they don’t self-identify that way then you’re not going to believe much of anything liberal can get done and are willing to accept what little does get done.

If you (like me) believe folks ARE liberal on most of the specific issues, then it is fair to expect more. Right now a vast majority of Americans DON’T WANT the tax cuts extended for the rich. Yet that’s almost certainly going to happen. Why??? You can’t say it’s because of the political environment, so it must be because the Democratis pols themselves want it that way.

We’ve seen this play out on almost every issue this administration and Congress has tackled. FinReg was watered down NOT because the public wasn’t into regulating those asshholes, the American public supported tough regulations. Health care, the same. The wars, the same. Issue after issue after issue.

I could make the argument that folks like to use those self-identifying polls as an excuse for their Republican like actions, but you wouldn’t be doing that would you?

Finally, in that very poll you linked to, it said the public viewed the Democratic Party as far more liberal than the Republican Party was conservative. And they self-identified at only 22% liberal. Right??? Yet the Democrats are coming off two straight electoral victories, the last one a landslide. Those same voters that say aren’t liberal voted for the same party in droves that they claim is far more liberal than the Republicans are conservative.

Perhaps, but it is the American electorate.

And as poverty increases and more and more people are homeless or standing in line at the food bank and more bridges collapse and pipelines explode and more soldiers and private contractors continue to be shipped home in body bags and the American Taliban are openly and unapologeticly stabbing Muslims, secularists, intellectuals and “liberals” on the streets Mr. Bipartisan and Rahm can continue their scapegoating.

Even though the D’s always manage to out-lame my lameness expectations, this is pretty amazing.

Well, maybe this will work, cuz this President is just getting off the ground with talking about the real issues and accomplishments over the past couple of years. We need to “get back on message” and stop all this legalizing this and that, changing the forces and vacation speeches and get back to what is real. Talk about some of the help for the unemployed, people without jobs, the environment, health care, small business tax cuts etc etc and get real. Voters are waiting for some real Passion about real Issues, not hype and watered down dribble. The alternative will allow folks like “the Rush” Limberger, Sean Insanity and O’Donnel-Palin Kooks to win based purely on their hatred and hot air.., which would be a severe mistake…

I thought it was a target for the hillbilly teabaggers to shoot at.

My suggestion for REAL political change: All politicians to be elected for a life term. Then, the following year hold an election to determine if we[Edited by Moderator.]. I will guarantee no political corruption.

I like the logo. I like the typography of the new website. I like the organization of the new website. I like the design of the navigation bar.

The jQuery-powered gallery is certainly at the forefront of modern web design, especially when you’re displaying a ‘product’ of sorts. Being shown who the big candidates in your state are is actually pretty neat.

Providing that much screen space to social media is okay, but not quite effective, since it only shows 3 tweets at a time. I think they should move it to the footer and bring the Featured Stories block to the body.

Booking it as a major change to the party is a bit much. I question if this is actually the announcement, but I haven’t heard any major news coming from Tim Kaine on any of the news networks, so…

And just as an aside, I saw marymccurnin’s version first. I dunno, maybe seeing it in reverse order helped, but holy cow, I can’t believe just how lame this really is…

Maybe I should have tears of despair, or at least frustration, but Tim Kaine has produced something so pointless, so completely absurd, that I can enjoy it purely for its entertainment value.

I heard there was going to be this big announcement on Wednesday. I can’t believe this is the announcement. I know it is more than the logo. They also messed with the website, but this is a joke. Fine. Make some changes, but don’t hype tweaks as game-changers.
